Barcelona Airport Staff
Clean airport but very obnoxious staff, I was exactly 2 mins late for my flight, the plane door was still open and they wouldn't let us on. The girl working there literally walked on the plane to see if we could get on and then she said we couldn't. It's a way to make money. I told a good few people and they all said something similar happened to them. The supervisor was very rude. Recommend not to fly here with ryanair.

Horrible Security, Service And Passport Control
I travel a lot from/to US - Europe, Asia, South America, and in my rating of the worse airport- Barcelona is the number one. At security no communication in English, people rude, in information person rude as well, 7 am Friday at passport control open 2 windows only. Again - for whole terminal 1 2 windows!!!! Same story 15 years ago. I will try to avoid this airport in the future
Long Queues
After passing through numerous checks we arrived at the last passport check. There was a huge queue for non EU passengers. After waiting some time we arrived at the front of the queue and by now it was about 400 passengers long and the officials had ONLY four booths open. It had five booths open but one of the passport controllers just shut up shop part way through our queueing. Lots of people were complaining about missing their flights due to the long wait. Do the officials at the airport do this delinerately as it was quite obvious that the green channels for EU people was nempty. WELL DONE BARCELONA AIRPORT, a poor example for a beautiful city with very friendly people.

Ok I Never Ever Write Reviews On Anything, But I J
Ok I never ever write reviews on anything, but I just feel I need to warn people planning to use Barcelona airport. Terminal 1 has recently opened, leaving the old building now being referred to as Terminal 2. I met colleagues who flew into Terminal 1 and all looked good. Unfortunately I arrived and departed from Terminal 2! It's like a cross between a building site and a ghost town. Very few shops or restaurants were open, Information Points were deserted and signage was contradictory and confusing (as the information points were deserted there was of course no one to ask!) I travel a lot and this was my worst experience! My taxi dropped me off at Terminal 2 - great, but what no one tells you is that if you are flying easyjet they are in a little extra building (called Area C) which is a very long walk! So once you actually work out that you have to go to Area C, which I did by asking other passengers who looked as lost as me, you then have to work out how to get there! You have to exit the building and walk along a road to get to Area C. You check in there then you follow the signs to the gate which takes you all the way back to where my taxi dropped me off (Area B), you finally get on the transfer bus to take you the plane and guess what it drives you back to (Area C) it was crazy. You need to leave A LOT of extra time, make sure you eat before you get there (because little is open) and please avoid if you have difficulty walking long distances.

Barcelona Airport Is A Clean And Spacious Airport,
Barcelona Airport is a clean and spacious airport, not very big and not many things to do, but once in duty free area there are lots of shops, it is very easy to make your way through as it is very well signposted, there is a regular train service, which is free and takes you to Sans Estacio Station which is a couple of stops with the tube from Plaza Cataluna and Les Rambles

Barcelona Airport Is A Small Airport Compared To L
Barcelona airport is a small airport compared to London airports, but this airport is easy to check in. There aren't many catering facilities, or things to do, so the time does pass slowly. Range of shops is very limited. No smoking signs are ignored, and airport staff do not enforce them. I recommend you take your own food.
Good connection with Areobus, which departs from each terminal every 10-15 mins, and takes you right to the centre of Barcelona. There is no metero line, however, and the train only takes you as far as Santes, no good for the tourist areas of Les Ramblas and Placa de Cataluna, which are where most of the hotels are. Use the Aerobus!!
Agree with overall description. Would add that if you need special assistance, or a porter to help with baggage, with small children, handicap etc then must allow for virtual invisibility of these services. People are very friendly and eventually will accomodate but these things are not organized and visible. Also, if you arrive by car, you will not be allowed to leave the car while you search for this assistance. Last, car rental services, while relatively conveniently located, are of substandard quality in the event of any problem. Overall, it's a nice airport which is 30 years out of date.
