I've Taken This Little Camera Almost Everywhere, C

I've taken this little camera almost everywhere, comfortable with it even in rainy weather. Nice little workhorse of a relatively simple camera.

When The Flash Is Turned Off On My Olympus Mju-400

When the flash is turned off on my Olympus Mju-400 digital camera, everything that moves is just a blurr. I had a situation in a church where no flash should been used; the bride walked in as a white blurr, and animal shots without a flash are just impossible. They are actually out of the picture completely by the time the picture is taken. I just wish I had more control over the shutter speed.

Bought The Olympus Mju-400 At Around £300 18

Bought the Olympus Mju-400 at around £300 18 months ago. Now keeps turning itself off cost of repair around the £90 mark just short of what a similar camera would now cost! Ok so prices have dropped but best part of £200 for 18 Mths use as a general family camera i.e. say a couple of hundred shots in that time.

Man, I Gotta Tell Ya About What Happened To My Mju

Man, I gotta tell ya about what happened to my Mju-400 the other day. It is an "All weather" camera but when I took it sea-kayaking and put it into a supposedly waterproof pouch, for some reason water got into the pouch filling it up IMMERSING this camera along with other things in water. I thought the camera would definitely be screwed after that but to my amazement, it did not affect the camera whatsoever - it is still working perfectly. I thought "All weather" meant shower resistant, but this thing has gotta be waterproof to survive what it went through the other day.

The Olympus Mju-400 Is Ideal For Someone Who Wants

The Olympus Mju-400 is ideal for someone who wants to point and shoot and get great results. It has produced some fantastic pictures for me in various conditions. Although I'm sure a top quality digital SLR would obviously be better, as a general purpose camera this is better than good, and it has the advantage of being so easy to carry around.

The only minor points I'd like to point out are that the camera only uses its own battery, whereas some similar cameras are capable of using alkaline batteries. As a result I bought a spare battery for around £15 on the internet and I find that if I charge this up then the two batteries will easily last for a fortnight's holiday.

The other minor point is that red-eye reduction is not automatically active, it must be selected in order to function. However when it is selected it works very well.

Basically I paid quite a lot of money for this camera and have trouble finding fault with it, so I would definitely recommend it.

I Needed A Compact Digital Camera That Could Be Us

I needed a compact digital camera that could be used on a beach or up a mountain in all weathers. There was a very limited choice, basically the Pentax WR33 or Olympus mju300/400. I picked the Olympus Mju-400 because I already own an Olympus C-4000 zoom. My computer uses Windows XP and is loaded with Camedia Master 4.0.

The mju400 is supplied with Master 4.1, however this camera works perfectly with the early 4.0 version. Also I have found that the poach for a film mju II 35mm f2.8 fits.

I expected the image quality to be much worse than the C-4000 but have been surprised. This camera is good for outside use photographing buildings, cars and landscapes. Portrait work is variable (good to poor) and the flash either too much when near or completely useless at distance. Macro images are excellent.

This camera has successfully combined art and design. It looks fantastic and is easy to use. This is an excellent point and shoot camera that can be carried and used anywhere

The Olympus Mju-400 Is A Shocking Release By One O

The Olympus Mju-400 is a shocking release by one of the world\'s finest camera maufacturers. Olympus have managed to pull-off a fine looking camera aimed at the point and shoot brigade. The build quality is excellent, robust but small and all of the openings/ports are hidden away behind neat panels, but that\'s where its plus points end. The camera rarely takes pin-sharp pictures, perhaps 4 out of ten are just about acceptable but not great quality. You also have to close the lens cover before it\'s possible to view and delete pictures which can be rather annoying.

You don't have to close the lense to view or delete recently taken pictures.

Just double click the hide LCD screen button and the last picture taken can be viewed and deleted in the normal way for this camera.

I have to say you cannot use or have a faulty camera. I have had my mju400 for around 9 mths and I can not find fault. I suggest that you are not using the auto focus correctly and when you say you have to close the lens cover to view the pictures taken, you dont. All you have to do to view the pics with the lens cover open it press the "Quick View" botton twice, located next to the bottom left hand corner of the screen on the back of the camera. I dont think you can be more wrong about the camera....

zebidee23

In the bad points section the reviewer states that you cannot delete/view pictures without closing the lens first. Had he read the instruction manual he would have found that pressing the play button twice in quick succession allows you to do exactly this. I hope this is of help to folk out there who would have been dissauded from buying what is essentially a great camera on this information.

Also, the lack of pinsharp pictures may be down to the incorrect quality setting or mode (eg landscape/portrait/etc)?

ceejay

Clearly, someone who THINKS that they are far too technically astute to bother to read an Operations Manual!!

Well, this bad review combined with all the other positive ones on this site merely convinced me to go and buy one this Morning. They are just going EOL, so mine was reduced to £174 in my local Currys. I have to say that I, like nearly all other reviewers commenting on this Product, am HIGHLY DELIGHTED!!

pennyfield

You are obviously one of those men who never reads the instruction book because you think you know it all. This camera is made ten times better by the underwater casing you can buy, try the camera at 40 metres and it takes better pictures than an SLR.
