I Just Flew In To Dublin Airport At What Could Arg
I just flew in to Dublin Airport at what could arguably be described as the busiest weekend in Dublin's history. I was en-route to Guns 'n' Roses, and with Robbie Williams playing a different venue the same night, coupled with The Eagles and an international sporting match the following day, I did experience severe delays. The airport had put on extra flights to cope with the extra passengers to this great city, and the stresses on the airport were shown in delays on flights going in to Dublin. In my case two hours, but I had spoken to several people whose flights all arrived at varying degrees of lateness.
Once I arrived in the airport, flying in from Manchester, I was met with a flurry of staff and passengers desperately racing through the terminals. What I didn't bargain for is how organised this was. Everything was under control, my bags arrived promptly, staff were very helpful and made everything easy and accessible.
As this was my first visit to Dublin from the air, and being unsure of how to get in to the centre, in particular to my hotel, I found the staff to have a willingness to help, that not only exceeded expectations, but delighted them. The tourist information was as expected - jam packed. However, the airport did have extra staff on to help with guests like myself who just wanted advice on how to get in to Dublin, and in short I was seen straight away with the lovey women advising on a bus instead of the taxi that I was planning to get. This was some feat, as usually I would not get public transport at the best of times, especially in a place I was not to sure about.
The connections out of the airport were also very busy, and I was told that a taxi would cost between €15 in quiet times, to €25 in peak times, but due to the extra visitors on the occasion, it could cost €35+. This service would also take approximately 40 minutes. The bus on the other hand costs a flat $5 (£3.50) and takes about five minutes long. Luckily for me, my hotel was less than a 10 minute walk.
All in all, the experience, although delayed was easy, comfortable and safe. In the future I would have no qualms about traveling here on my own, and I do believe that a true test of any staff is coping with extreme stress, and these guys passed with flying colours. Well done!

Very Stressful! Dublin Airport Is The Last Place Y
Very stressful! Dublin airport is the last place you want to visit to start your holiday. The departure terminal was a nightmare to move in. Once past security, there is an average selection of shops (expensive), and there isn't much to buy if you don't want to buy Republic of Ireland flags and Leprechauns! The airport seemed very badly planned.

Dublin Airport Is Quite Good Overall For Its Size-
Dublin Airport is Quite good overall for its size- Good selection of food -McDonalds , O'Brien's and others but apart from those two the prices are scandalous - €7.50 for a full Irish breakfast and its only average.
Checking usually quite prompt. Car park charges €7 per day or €43 per week -usually takes 15 mins between parking and getting to check in.
Shops open usually 6am to midnight.
Transport into the city is only by bus or taxi and Dublin's traffic is notoriously stagnant.
