Everything Wrong With Games Today
In the old days duke nukem was a crass, brazen ball of testosteroids (portmanteaus for victory). He got all the guns and destroyed all the bad guys in all the ways we wish we could.
Duke nukem forever is a collection of all the worst things about modern shooters, simplified to the extreme. The three different chapters font mesh well together at all, vehicle levels have been slapped into it because don't all games have vehicle levels now days? You can only hold two guns because more would be complicated (or hard to choose between for the console kids). All this could be forgivable (after all a generic shooter is still average) if it contained duke nukem, but instead it felt like horrible fan fiction about the character, a pathetic parody of himself consisting of only badly done references to movies, references to himself and references to other games I would rather be playing.

Although Not The Game It Was Promised To Be When I
Although not the game it was promised to be when it (eventually) came out. Duke Nukem Forever is a decent FPS that tries to go back to its old school routes in what was needed in a world full of serious games like Call Of Duty.
Many reviewers marked Duke harshly given its long wait to come out (14 years!) its slightly outdated graphics and gameplay. However for me Forever was a fun game and I feel that because of the modern FPS that people have become accustomed to this game suffers because of it.
If you buy this game not with the sky high expectations of it being something out of this world and can forgive a few clumsy NPC models then you will have a good time playing this game and at the price it is now, it is well worth picking up even for nostalgia sake.
