I've Installed A Set Of Four On My Corolla Altis,

I've installed a set of four on my Corolla Altis, size 185/70/14. Original tires were Yokohama Aspec A300s. I decided to replace the stock set to Michelins because I wasn't happy with the comfort level of the Yokohamas.

Michelin claims their Vivacy to be comfortable and quiet for smooth driving, so I was hoping to improve the ride of my Altis. Wrong!

As compared to the Aspec A300, the Michelins have a harsher , noisier ride. Defeats the purpose of the exercise. Note that all tires have the same pressure- 30psi cold.

Roads in the Philippines are terrible, which is why comfort is on top of everyone's list. In which case I was better off with the Yokohamas. Big mistake I made.

I bought a used Camry V6 model 2003 at 28000 km.

fitted with Michelin Vivacy 250/16 tyres.

I drive only in Johannesburg on tar roads, but I found the roadnoise so unbearable that even with the radio turned up to loud volume, I could still hear the roadnoise.

I have switched to TOYO tyres and the roadnoise is gone.

Precisely why Toyota chose the Aspec A300 as original equipment tires. These tires are known for their excelent ride comfort, and is by far the quietest tire I've known. ANY tire would be rendered harsh or uncomfortable if pitted against the Yokohama Apsec A300. However, those are the only good points of that tire. All other aspects is Michelin territory!
