I've Had The Samsung S300 For Nearly 2 Years And I

I've had the Samsung S300 for nearly 2 years and I have loved every second of it! However there is one major thing that is making me buy a new phone, every now and again I turn my phone on and it tells me to 'please wait' whilst searching for my network and the phone never actually is then workable, it just keeps searching and telling me to 'please wait'...I have to leave the phone for a day and play around with the battery and sim card and then it might work. I've spoken to Samsung and repairmen and they said they don't even know whats wrong with it...very strange.

Apart from that! I really really love this phone and I'm sad I have to upgrade and get a new one because I liked how easy it was to use and the look, the lightweightedness and the overall aesthetics of the phone are awesome.

The Only Reason Really For Getting A Samsung S300

The only reason really for getting a Samsung S300 phone was because I've always had old-style phones and I decided I would like a brand-new up-to-date phone. However, this is the worst phone I've ever had!!!The battery now lasts approx. 1 day(I use about 10 texts a day, hardly use it for calls and don't play games or internet). Also, it seems if you open the phone too quickly or receive a text when you're already reading one, the new message disappears!!! How annoying. When I first got the phone, I could also never get any signal (I have to admit that has now improved, fingers crossed). I have found out to my disadvantage that if you set the alarm (to wake up for work for instance) that it only goes off for about 30 seconds!!! I don't think many of us are that easy to wake up at 6:30am. The same goes for reminders on the calendar function. All-in-all, this is not a very good phone and I would recommend a Nokia, it is certainly what I am going back to after my contract with o2 ends (don't get me started on them!!).

This Samsung S300 Mobile Phone Is Amazing. The Qua

This Samsung S300 mobile phone is amazing. The quality of the colour screen is excellent. The keypad is stylish, lighting up and electric blue and it is comfortable to send texts. The reception is quite good, but i think that depends on the network.

The service light on the front (flashing light above the external display) lights up a variety of colours, which you can choose from.

I really like the way the external display turns into a mirror, when not lit.

The games are ok and there is only two, but it has JAVA so you can download games using the high speed GPRS internet, and you can also download ringtones and wallpapers.

Easy to send text messages, and to change it from T9 mode to write texts the usual way, you only have to press the top right button with the three dots on, two or three times.

The ringtones are not bad and it has a really good ringtone, called 'hello'. And you can also have some animal sounds as your ringtones. If it does not have any ringtones stored on it that you like, you get a disk for your computer, which contains more ringtones and wallpapers for you to download onto your phone. The ringtone quality is 40-poly, which is one of the latest and is very good.

The battery time on this phone is ok and it lasts for a reasonable amount of time, and you have to remember that it is a very small phone and the battery is also small, so you can't expect it to have a battery which lasts forever.

Overall i think this phone is the best i have ever had, and i only buy the best phones, so i reccomend it to anyone! I am very pleased with it and i think that Samsung phones are much better that any other mobile phone manufacturer.

I also advise you to ignore the stupid reviews from people who say that the phone is not good, and i think that they should use their phone for a while, before they write a review saying that it is rubbish, just because they aren't used to it.

I Have Had My Samsung S300 Mobile Phone For About

I have had my Samsung S300 mobile phone for about 1 month now and I am not very pleased with it.

This was my first venture away from a Nokia phone and one I am sorry I made.

To start with, I text a lot. More than my wife would like according to her comments on my last bill! Also, I never used the predictive text until now...

Writing a text on the S300 is a pain in the butt. If you write words like "boom" or "look" that require you to move the cursor forward before you can enter the second "o", you will find yourself always hitting the "hang up call" button as it is right next to the required key. This takes you out of texting and back to the main menu. This is a pain. THEN you find that when you go back into writing your text, what you have already typed has been lost! Grr! :(

Also, if you want a "," you can only find it when you are on UPPERCASE texting and press "0" four times.

You want a "."? It's on LOWERCASE "1"

Why? Who knows!

So I switched to predictive. Things were just as annoying. No dictionary to add your own words, Predictive text is default to uppercase and because of not being able to add your own words you constantly find yourself switching out of predictive back to normal to enter your friends' names, and then you encounter all the above problems once more!

On a Nokia, you press "down" to get into your phonebook and then the green phone button to call them.

Yep, you guessed, it's a lot more long winded on the S300!

"left" button to bring up the names, then the "right" button to search them, then "down" to start looking through them, then the "call" button!

Oh wait! It STILL hasn't called my friend! I need to press the "call" button twice! :(

So that's 6 button presses compared to 2 on a Nokia. Ok, it's only a gripe, but surely if it isn't broken don't fix it. Samsung, PLEASE, take a look at a Nokia phone!

When you miss a call it doesn't remain on the front screen. Which is annoying when you are in a pub and you half pull your phone out of your pocket to see if you have missed any calls. Not on the S300 you don't! No, it has to come all the way out of your pocket and be opened up to see the internal screen to see if you've missed any calls.

If you miss a text it keeps alerting you every 30seconds, annoying when you get spam texts at 3am and the phone is downstairs in the kitchen!

The earpiece isn't loud enough for my liking, it is difficult to hear what the person on the other end of the phone is saying if you are in a busy area, like a pub.

The clock doesn't stay lit up on the outer screen, so you have to open the phone up once more to light up the outer screen and display the clock!

Now, I have slated the phone enough I better end the review! All I would recommend is that you take time to look over a S300 before you buy one and make sure you don't be rushed by the sales-person.

erm keeep out of this flip flop, its been three moths since i was even bothered about him saying the phone was rubbish, and im getting the new samsung e800 in july anyway so he can say what he likes

flipflop5000

Erm, sorry to get into this battle thing, but I was wondering why stes300 doesn't just post their software and hardware details, so that Silky and his/hers can be compared? Surely that would make more sense that just arguing?

stes300

Whatever, your just gonna keep goin on about your Nokia, so why don\'t you just buy yourself the nice new one which is about three times the size as the s300 and won\'t fit in your pocket. It\'s not really somethin\' you would want to show off with, but that\'s Nokia\'s for you.

sk8rboi

Silky it seems to me that most of the other people commenting on your review are right, its not the phone thats wrong. So there\'s no need to tell other people that they are below you or that they need to get off their horses. look at yourself you will see that you are doing the same thing you are complaining about.

Silky

Stes300 :

\"Why dont you just stop arguing with people because it always turns out that you are wrong about things.\"

I am NOT aruguing with you, far from it, I am just pointing out that they DON\'T show on the front screen unless you push the button in for 2 seconds. The idea of this site is to inform people about their choices, and for one, I hate this feature. So I posted here and people can check it out BEFORE they buy a S300 and make their own minds up. Some people are ok with it, like yourself, others hate it, like me. Welcome to the real world son, people have freedom of choice in it.

\"If the missed call didn\'t stop displaying then the battery would run out quickly...\"

Really? I doubt it. My old Nokia used to keep missed calls on display all the time and the battery life on that was just fine.

\"Oh and you also moaned about it alerting you every 30 seconds about having a new message, but you were wrong cos it alerts you about every 3-4 minutes, and what have you got your phone left on in the night for if your worried about it making noises?\"

Lol. Because I am a fireman and I am on call during the night sometimes so I HAVE TO have my phone on! Or perhaps you would prefer that I didn\'t go on call-outs during the night?

Now maybe you can understand why display of missed calls is so important to me.

So, if you could be useful instead of pedantic, would you post your software and hardware details? Then maybe we can let people know if there are software variations on the S300 and they can check that out too before buying.

Cheers.

After 1 Month Of Owning This Samsung S300 Mobile P

After 1 month of owning this Samsung S300 mobile phone, I have concluded that it is the worst phone I've ever used! Whenever you recieve a text message the phone alerts you every thirty seconds until the text is read!!...this is such a pain when you recieve a text in the middle of the night!

The texting features on this phone are prehistoric! How Samsung let this phone out with such appauling T9 predictive text and no dictionary - the phone insists on writing in capitals as default every time! Arrgh!

When recieving a call the front display shows only the number and not the name of the person. The ring tones are far too loud and annoying. I am about to swap it for a Nokia 7250i, and good ridance to it!

dastardly

It concerns me when I read the rantings of a person who makes no effort whatsoever to hide the fact that they are unable to make simple decisions based on common sense and the smallest amount of lateral thought.

As well as being a well built and aesthetically pleasing phone, the S300 is, I feel, more than capable in terms of technological wizardry and subsequently a sight more user friendly than your review suggests. I find it incredibly difficult to ascertain as to how you failed to discover the radio button feature which provides alternatives of being alerted of the delivery of a text message. It took me no longer than 40 mins to become accustomed with the menu functions of this phone and one of the first options I took was that of silencing the message alert tone.

I have also owned numerous Nokias and do not in any way dispute the fact that they boast an extremely easy to use, intelligent, menu system. Owning them has not left me devoid of grey matter, however.

I Think Overall That This Samsung S300 Will Be A G

I think overall that this Samsung S300 will be a good mobile phone for me to get even though I am only 14 I am responsible and it has enough things to keep me busy, I don't like the ringtone quality and the non interchangeable fascias, or downloable games, I need those things to keep me fond of my mobile, but this mobile lacks in most areas. it's okay, it's good, phonebook can keep up to 200 numbers which is good for me, it's small and light, compact, but not too compact, easy to use! e. t. c....

This Was My First Venture Away From Nokia, So I Wa

This was my first venture away from Nokia, so I wasn't too sure what to expect.

Overall a good phone, but let down for me by the lack of options & customisation I was used to with a Nokia such as selective alerts.

I also found that the reception was not as good as with my previous Nokias (possibly due in part to me replacing the unsightly supplied ariel with a stubby one).

I also found the textind a chore - it will insist on defaulting to capitals in the predictive text mode, as opposed to dropping to lower case after the first letter and does not have a user defined dictionary, which means you have to spell out any word not in its memory letter by letter.

Having said that, its small, stylish, light weight, battery life is good (& comes with 2 of them). The polyphonics are good (even though the standard ring tones are pants) as is the screen quality & the GPRS is fast.

Think I'll be going back to Nokia for my next one though....

I Have Had This Samsung S300 Mobile Phone For 3 Da

I have had this Samsung S300 mobile phone for 3 days now, and ran many tests on it, including reception, user friendlyness, ergonomics and so on.

This phone is amazingly designed. If you favor clam shell design, this is top notch. It is very small and light, fits easy into any size pocket and can be operated single handedly. Also, since there's an external screen theres no need to open the phone to see who's calling. The polyphonic rings are of high quality, although some more regular "ring ring" sounds could be nice for those who like their phone to actually ring.

On the down side - Software could use some more features that are noticbly missing, such as profiles. Also it's not possible to set the phone to ring and vibrate at the same time, only sequentially (meaning it will vibrate 3 times and then begin to ring), which is annoying if you're used to Nokia.

One thing that is actually very hard for me to understand is why bluetooth was not incorperated into this little wonder. This is a major drawback.

Other then that, this is a perfect little phone.

Hi I Am Ranjeet R. Pillai From Faridabad, India &

Hi I am Ranjeet R. Pillai from Faridabad, India & I bought my Samsung S300 on 11 Oct and am pretty happy with it. The phone is very small & looks very good. The ringtones are ok, but if compared with Nokia 6610 ringtones, it does lag behind. I would have liked the clock on the front screen to stay but it goes off when the phone is not in use.

But still good value for your money. Just switch it on at night and then enjoy!!!
