“Goods missing and jewellery stolen”

Written on: 18/11/2017

My move was sudden and unusual. The manger who dealt with my booking was wonderful..no complaints there. However on receipt of my goods that had been repacked at one depot and then transferred to another depot to add to a shared/part load it was unfortunate to find that suitcases into which I had packed my clothes and some costume jewellery and unfortunately three precious rings had been rifled through the jewellery had been stolen.....they left the empty ring boxes the clothes were thrown into… Read Full Review

We are sorry that this customer has had cause to complain. As she says the move was sudden as she was leaving her partner and we collected the goods from a horse box where she had left them. We knew they would not be packed for international transport and agreed to repack them back at the depot. The repacking was carried out by a man who has been with us for 28 years and in whom we have total confidence. After that the goods were transported in our vans, with our staff to her new home abroad. We think its stretching the possibilities to think that the delivery crew would have had the knowledge to search through the goods looking for rings (or anything else of value) and then to take them. It also assumes that both members of the delivery crew are criminals because its probably impossible for one man to carry out a search for valuables without his colleague being aware..
We do take these allegations seriously but its difficult to think that there may not be some other explanation, other than an allegation of theft.

“Removals Ok Until Damage By Them Occurs”

Written on: 09/10/2017 by 329Proctor (1 review written)

The removal vehicle and staff arrived on time albeit it was suppose to be 3 men for the removal. The 2 staff rushed the removal as they wanted to be finished by 4pm latest this would not have been a problem , and to most a brilliant prospect except damage occurred. Firstly to a door and its frame taking the door off its hinges. Then to find that the 18 month old 48ins TV damaged by an impact 3ins in the bottom left of screen. Although staff reported this along with the door when it came to… Read Full Review

While we note the customers dissatisfaction which is regrettable, we do believe there are some factual errors in their review. This removal only required two men and was quoted, planned and executed as such, we even provided the customer with a copy of our worksheet for their records which confirmed two men were required so we are unsure where their assessment that three men were required comes from. We take a view of the business in the round and feel that we are not guilty of failing to take our responsibilities seriously. Referenceline monitors our performance in the round and over time and you will note the high level of recommendations and scores generally. If we are responsible for loss or damage we always take steps to rectify the problems and ensure our customers are returned to the position they were in prior to any loss or damage occurring. We accepted liability without question for damage to a door and steps were taken to rectify that immediately. However, we did refuse to accept liability for a damaged television as the customer admitted to laying the television flat on its screen across the arms of a chair to remove the stand prior to us moving it and repeating that process to fit the stand back on to the television in the new house. We transported the television in a purpose built, lined and padded carrying bag which was kept upright at all times so we refused to accept liability on the basis the damage almost certainly happened as a result of the television being laid screen down by the customer on two separate occasions. We are sorry the customer did not accept our position but we did not think we should pay for something we clearly didn’t damage.
