“I am Very Happy with Elephant Removals”

Moving home to a new property is a challenging experience – both emotionally and physically, especially in cases where preparation and communication with the removal company carrying out the removal service is poor. We took all the precautions and well prepared for the big day by hiring a reputable moving company to carry out our move. Due to the scale of the move, packing by Elephant Removals was recommended a day before, although we did not have any time limit on the moving day. I have to say that we were exceptionally pleased with elephantremovals.co.uk and would certainly recommend to anyone.

“Would Certainly Recommend Elephant Removals ”

After an extensive search for a reliable home moving company, my wife and I found Elephant Removals for our large three bedroom house move. Their quote was very competitive and appealing, no other removal firm came near so they got the job. Elephant Removals crew were polite, cheerful exemplary and treated every item with full care. They made my move look simple and easy. I would indeed recommend this relocation firm and use in the future.

We searched online for a good removal company to help us relocate from Tottenham to Borehamwood and came across Elephant Removals website. After filling in some details on the website our quotation was quickly confirmed by a phone call. There then followed a series of communications which ensured everything went smoothly on the day. Thanks for the great move - we couldn't ask for more on our moving day. All in all they are a nice cheerful bunch of guys to do business with and I would use them again.

“Excellent Moving Company”

★★★★★

written by Mark92 on 02/09/2014

I have moved with other moving companies before, however the packing and move experience with elephantremovals.co.uk was certainly tremendous. The movers arrived well within time and were polite and very helpful despite the unsuitable weather conditions, they work extremely hard. I will not hesitate to recommend Elephant Removals to anyone searching for an affordable yet professional removal company.

“Avoid this company!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Abelr24 on 11/08/2014

My experience with Elephant Removals can be summarised with the below (summarised) email I sent to them after the fact. In summary, they were late (I was charged by the new owners of my property as we were 4 hours late moving out!), unorganised (didnt seem to understand that everything required packing and required my husband to step in and help), unprofessional and showed a complete lack of customer service throughout. They even passed a comment about tea breaks when there were two hours of the day when they were waiting for packing material! Our response to the below was a 100 pound deduction from the bill. They have since ignored all emails from us seeking compensation for damages to a dining table and a radio. I can only assume they have no insurance policy in place. Booking of Elephant Removals - I asked whether he needed to come round and assess the inventory so we were sure to get the right size removal vehicle. He did not deem this necessary - and consequently the van that turned up was too small. On discussing whether Elephant should pack all our belongings on the previous day or the same day, I was told either approach was possible - we were four hours late moving out the flat and incurred charges form the new owners as a result. Day of Removals - removal van was expected at 9:30 - it arrived two hours late without packing material!! It took 2 hours for someone to go back to Elephant and pick up the materials. During this time, the two remaining Elephant employees needed direction from my husband on how to proceed. Throughout the day, there was little leadership or supervision from the Elephant team and it was very unclear who was in charge. My husband had to step in and direct the team and provided hands-on help working at twice the speed of your employees. Whilst the point has been made that it is our choice whether to help or not, we did not feel there was really a choice here as otherwise the removal process would have taken even longer. In addition to this it is worth mentioning, I also had to start filling boxes – I am 9 months pregnant – it has taken me 3 days to recover from the experience. And finally, we resorted to asking the removal company of the people moving into the property(who had been parked outside for 3 hours) to lend a hand. As an aside, its worth mentioning that they were quite shocked at how the removal process was being run and the speed at which progress was being made. And by contrast they worked with speed, purpose and organised themselves efficiently to get the belongings out of the flat so they could finish their job and move items in. They also did not need much direction. - During the packing process, the Elephant team were told several times that they were to pack everything. However on checking their work throughout the day I kept finding cupboards they had not yet started on and they seemed surprised when I said they needed to pack up said cupboards. In addition, on instructing that a cupboard should be emptied and on checking whether this had been completed or not, I found on several occasions that two/three items had been left unpacked - again this resulted in leaving a whole drawer of belongings behind at the property. It became clear to my husband that an extra van was needed to transport our belongings. However, the Elephant team did not appear to be able to make a decision on this point. I called and requested an additional van – they did not take my word for it and did not call me back to agree the way forward. I find this quite unprofessional as at this point we had been on the phone to Elephant several times during the course of the day and were already 3.5 hours delayed in moving out of the flat. On packing the second van, part of my BO Concept dining room table was broken. On discussing the bill with the Elephant team, there were comments made about how we should pay because the team are on minimum wage. There was also a reluctance to call someone more senior at Elephant to discuss the issue further.

Dear Mrs Shakelton

Thank you for your feedback which is important to us, it helps us improve our services. It is always a good idea to know both side’s story, we would also like to highlight follow points:

• We helped you in an emergency:
We are somewhat confused that despite providing our services at a last minute requirement, this is the response to our services. You had to change the date of move due to issues at your end, and despite difficulties at our end in accommodating for your move, we succeeded in helping you out the second time as well.

Given item list was a half load only:
The given inventory was half the vehicle load with only half furniture being mentioned (i.e. far less), but to be on the safe side, we sent a vehicle with 50% extra capacity. We keep everything transparent in writing and no questions were raised to say otherwise. Sometimes for a company to cater for a large move, it is projected to us that the move is small in order to be taken aboard, especially in a last-minute attempt to save hassle and minimise their stress, hence we weren’t surprised.

The removal staff informed us that the inventory was substantially more than we had been told, therefore additional time and energy to cater for this unforeseen circumstance naturally meant the job being prolonged.

• On a Discounted Quote, Gave Further Discount even before job started:

Normally we charge £80 per hour for an extra-large vehicle including 3 porters, but already discounted you £100.00 by applying a £70/Hr Rate.

After the move, whilst liaising with your partner via emails, we agreed to give a further discount by refunding an additional £100.00 as a good will gesture (i.e. equals to £200.00 in total discount) and settled this case a long time ago.

• Cancellation of Advanced Booked Packing Date

We were never informed that you were expecting a child (i.e. pregnant) otherwise we would have advised you not to cancel the one-day advanced booked packing service.

• DIY Pack to Save Cost:

Initially you booked packing a day before, but then changed to the same day part pack and move. You decided to pack as much as you can beforehand to save the overall cost, which was fully respected as we could not enforce our services upon you. We then delivered £113.46 worth of Materials in advance to initiate DIY Packing.

• Time Constraints

At the time of booking, we asked if there are any time restrictions, to which your reply was ‘no’, and a booking confirmation email including this fact was sent to which no criticism was made at that time. We follow strict protocols to avoid situations such as this.

• Vehicles Carry Extra Materials

All our vehicles carry extra materials, but on the date, the staff informed us that there is so much more packing pending and will need even more, despite the advance delivery of materials as well. There was no delay in collecting extra materials, whilst the other two staff worked tirelessly without taking any breaks. The main time consumed was because of the increased inventory of which we had no prior knowledge. The pending part packing on the same day. The parking wasn’t as close as it could have which meant the overall work prolonged.

Table Fixed
The driver informed that during the handling of the table, a part fell off but he fixed it back and informed the client about it.

To Conclude
We gave over £200.00 discount in total as our staff informed us that they intentionally did not charge for some of the packing materials used in order to keep you happy. Unlike many other companies, we did not apply any extra charges for evening time work which is usually a lot more.

We are a Customer-Centered Removals Company and this the core reason why we go that extra mile in making our precious clients happy. It is not in our best interest to create unnecessary issues or cause delays, our precious customers are our utmost priority. Our sincerest apologies for any unintended mishaps and misconception which may have hurt your feelings.

Kindest Regards,

Customer Care Team
