For a while now, I've noticed a colleague of mine religiously chowing down on an innocent veg pot at lunchtime in a quest to 'eat more healthily.' They looked tasty and easy to prepare, so I thought I would give one a try myself. I went down to the local supermarket and picked up the 'Caribbean' flavour. I have to say, it tasted pretty good, although there were a few too many flavours going on (coconut, pepper, tomatoes, mango, chilli, curry powder and oregano made it all a bit of an overload), and it was really easy to make - just a couple of minutes in the microwave. In this respect, the product served me well. I then decided to look into the nutritional side of things, to see if it really was a 'healthy' product as marketed. The ingredients weren't bad, although the notable thickeners of corn flour and rice flour had me asking a few questions, as did the use of white rice over brown. The nutritional side of the equation, however, was pretty weak. Just 11g of protein and over 46g of carbs in each pot. For me, this isn't really a balanced meal. I'd recommend this product if you're looking for something quick and fairly tasty for lunch. However, I certainly wouldn't advocate it as a health product, as many people have done.
