Works perfectly 99% of the time. Was easy to setup and has ran perfectly since bought it. I did update to the latest software on purchase

We have had one of these for 5 or 6 years, and apart from the first 6 months before the GUI firmware was update, it has been absolutely brilliant. It has been reliable, easy to use, and gives great picture and sound quality. HOWEVER, after its long sterling service, it has began to miss programs in the last few months. Time for disc re-format? If not, it is time to upgrade to HD (I would gladly buy the Humax Fox T2 HDR). I can see many bad reviews of this PVR, on this site, and my comment would be: why are you still buying such an old model, when there are many great HD PVR now availble (Humax one among them) for the same price we paid for this 6 years ago?? Things evolve, move on!

Doesn't record half of the time. Constantly sticking. Total waste of good earned money.

What a load of borrocks. I've just retired my old faithful 9200 after 8 years. It has recently started doing silly things that are cured by taking the top off and giving it a sound thrashing with a vacuum cleaner. That and re-formatting the HDD occasionally means that it will run for quite a while yet, and all for 200 quid! However it is now time to move on to HD and to this end i have bought the Hummy 2000Twhich has been installed with no problem. I did try the YouVies 1010T but beware, if, like me you object to having pornographic TV channels on your receiver, forget this machine. YOU CANNOT DELETE CHANNELS TO WHICH YOU MORALLY OR POLITICALLY OBJECT! rant over, and its not Humaxs fault, it is the specification which the YouView consortium insisted. This includes the BBC which has spent £114,000,000 of YOUR license fee money on. Stick with the 2000T it's greeeaatt, as a tiger once said

Simply apalling. I purchased this based on recommendation by Which? - don't believe their reviews and do not buy a Humax. It is entirely unreliable and Humax support is not interested. My box continually locks up and the controls do not work - very frustrating indeed. The dual recording capability is good but only if you can control the box! Buy only if you like a challenge and are not prone to throwing failing electronic equipment from the top window in a 10 storey block of flats!

Often fails to record. Whatever you do don't buy Humax.

As with many other Reviewers I too have had the 'cold shoulder' fro HUmax Support. All they seem to want to do is get you off the 'phone which is fine at their charge rate! I am not going to buy another Humax box - ever!. I would suggest they buy cheap bits and pieces, put them together in a fancy box and hope Punters increase their profits and sales. Not me again so, don't buy Humax!
Look for a reputabe Supplier or, stay away from this type of device and Humax. By the way, this is my third Humax box all previous ones failed with different problems.

As others have said - when it works it is a splendid machine - but ! After about two years of intermittent service it has gone haywire. It misses reserved programmes but leaves them on the reservation list after the recording time, it shortens some recordings so that you miss the end, it mis-labels some recordings etc. etc. The worst thing now is that it locks up quite frequently and nothing can be done with the control. This can be temporarily cured by de-powering but it returns. Furthermore this wipes out the programme information. Several emails to Humax have not resulted in any help. This is possibly the worst feature of Humax.

After having an unreliable panasonic dvd recorder this machine has been a revelation. It does everything I want reliably and I've found it easy to use and great value.
The recent broadcast of software over the airwaves has improved things still further. It also seems to have cured the very occasional lockup that occured and which had to be cured by switching off for a minute or so via the switch at the back.
The digital switchover has been overcome very smoothly.
I have noticed no other problems but my son's Sony Play TV seems even more impressive in terms of usability.

My 4 year old son can use the Humax with ease - if you aren't techno-savvy and want an easy way to record programmes then buy a Humax!
Now the problems caused by the digital changeover have been cured by an over-the-air update I've fallen back in love with my box - it is great!
My only complaint is the difficulty in transferring recorded programmes to DVD - I'm considering buying a DVD recorder for this purpose, just play the programme and record on DVD, much easier than trying to put the programme onto PC!
Overall, I would highly recommend a Humax 9200T. They can be bought for around £100 now and are well worth the money.

My Humax was returned to John Lewis last month where it will stay. The same experience as others and since the digital switchover just getting BBC 1 on was a challenge after having switched it off and on several times. I miss its good times now but it was serously compromised by the switchover. Now relying on an old Humax didgobox which has lost a load of channels in the meantime. Really sad I'm having to consider Sky just to get a half decent chance of a delayed recording facility

Like others i have had a mostly good relationship with my Humax until the digital switchover. Since then all has been hell and the help desk have lost the will to live.
So whilst the Humax was once a lovely machine prospective buyers should think twice.

I have owned my Humax PVR-9200T for two years and initialy it was OK. Over time it has suffered slow response and many "freeze ups".
Since the DSO in April 2010 (Mendip transmitter) it has failed to load the Electronic Program Guide properly.I have tried all the workarounds suggested on the Humax forums but to no avail. Humax say that some updated software is on its way but they have been saying this since 2008 and nothing has come yet.
I would very much wish to say that I like this machine because a PVR is a great idea, however, its the most irritating machine I have ever owned and I would not buy any more Humax products.

Humax 9200t I can sum this machine up very quickly
Don't buy one. repeat Don't buy one unless you want a massive head ache!

For the first year, the PVR9200TBX was very good, while not very intuitive to use, it was not difficult. But for over 6 months now it has been freezing. Even before it freezes, the subtitles get badly delayed. Even the "on-off" switch on the front fails to turn it off. Response from Humax is essentially that "there isn't a fault with the product, it's the fault of the broadcasters". I couldn't possibly comment. Furthermore, it does not interoperate with non-Windows computers to save programmes (so Macs and Linux users have had it).
I would have liked to know beforehand that the 3-year HumaxDirect guarantee was rather useless, and that it will not interoperate with Macs.
So I will not buy a Humax again. Off to try a Toppy probably.

Worked brilliantly till digital switch-over. Since then, just a pain in the neck. Humax know - and acknowledge - that it needs a 'fix' and say that one will be broadcast, but months have gone by and nothing has happened. Perhaps their other models work better, but they haven't put anything on their website to help, and don't offer any new advice by email - just their standard line. Definitely DON'T buy this model.

This is a fantastic machine for as long as it works ok. During its two year life the capacity of the hard drive has slowly but steadily reduced so that it is now full and can not record any more when showing only 33% full. I assumed that reformating the hard drive would solve this but I was informed by Humax in 2009 that a new software release would be required to fix this known problem but that they had no date set for its release.
I have contacted them since several times and have had absolutely no response.
I have also experienced the same EPG problems reported by others online since the recent freeview retuning. The EPG just doesnt work properly amy more.
Very dissapointed with Humax after sales service.

The guest that says that the "Leap Forward" past adverts is wrong to say that
it can only be done in whole minutes.
Go into MENUE down to PREFERENCES right to MISCELLANEOUS SETTINGS right again
to COMMERCIAL SKIP TIME right again to chose time steps eg 15, 30, 60, 120 seconds.
In my opinion, the 9299 is a better, more useable machine that the later 9300.
because the front controls and the display are easily used and read.

Freezing make sure the Humax is powered up, then,
Switch off using the rocker switch at the rear left of the machine
for at least 20 seconds, then switch it on and wait for the
machine to reboot (be patient).
Your recording schedule will need setting again, and, maybe
a new channel scan would a useful thing to do. Make sure that its
the switch at the rear that you use, NOT the front.
