Written on: 14/02/2006 by alfiemc (9 reviews written)

I got my Apple iPod Video about a month ago and I'm very impressed with the video and picture quality. The screen is a good size and good to carry around. It is very user friendly. The videos are quite easy to put on as long as your not a novice with itunes. I would recommend it to any one as an MP4 player. The only downside to it is the battery life - when playing videos you can most probably play 6 four minute video all the way through on a full battery life - If this is too short for you can… Read Full Review

Written on: 14/02/2006 by GadgetGeek (2 reviews written)

The world's best music player just became even better with the addition of video capability! Although the Apple iPod Video only supports MPEG-4 and H.264 video, with some effort it is possible to convert other formats such as .avi and DivX so that the ipod understands them. Just like the previous ipods, the controls are easy and intuitive and the player is even more thin and sleek than before. I highly recommend this product!… Read Full Review

Written on: 05/02/2006 by uktedsmith (2 reviews written)

Using a Windows PC, it was always a pain loading the old iPod, which would often run out of power before loading. With the new Video version the power feeds through the USB, which gets around the problem. It's amazing what such a small device can hold. The Apple iPod Video is excellent value all round, but do go for the 60Gb version if you're going to watch lots of videos on it… Read Full Review

Written on: 04/02/2006 by andymillikin (12 reviews written)

I have been indifferent to the iPod revolution in recent years, because I already owned an Archos Jukebox and knew little about the iTunes system. My wife bought me an iPod Shuffle for Christmas, and my exposure to the Apple world has led to the purchase of a black iPod 60Gb Video. Here's my view of the pro's and con's.

“I have had a new iPod Video 30Gb for less than 2...”

Written on: 30/01/2006 by bazthecat (20 reviews written)

I have had a new iPod Video 30Gb for less than 2 months. Originally, I was easily getting the 14 hour battery life, but as the weeks have passed, this has dropped down to less than 5 hours. Considering this is Apple's latest generation iPod Video, that's not good. I had read reports of bad battery performance, but ignored them. This iPod is just 2 months old and I don't use any video, just music.

A guy at work bought a Sony 20Gb (the alloy one) at the same time, and he's still getting… Read Full Review

Battery life got down to under 4 hours (compared to the 14 hours claimed by Apple). I returned the iPod to the supplier. 2 weeks later and I am still awaiting return. I believed people who said the iPod didn't have battery issues. They do and they are huge. If you don't want hassle, forget the "supposed" style and good looks of the iPod, just buy something that does the job instead. Awful product, AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS.

Still geting problems with this iPod. Now it resets when it wants and we even get "the white screen of death". Computer Warehouse supplied it and it took 1 month for first repair - what next.
Personally (and this is my own oppinion) I wish I had never seen this iPod. Cosmetically they look great, but operationally they are rubbish. Just avoid these things - you think by now that Apple would have got it right wouldn't you?

Written on: 30/01/2006 by Mr Dollerhide (1 review written)

I got my 30GB Apple iPod Video in black on Xmas day, it's very simple to use with the exception of trying to download video. The screen froze once, same thing happened to a friend and he said press and hold the centre and menu button at the same time. It worked and I have not had the problem since. This is a very sharp tool. I love it… Read Full Review

Things that make you go 'Hmm'. Fooled by the advertising, the popularity of the iPod (40 million sold!!?) and the excellence of iTunes on the PC, I invested nearly £300 in an iPod 60GB.

Just 6 days after starting to use it it failed. The website/software back-up is very poor, but Apple's attitude and understanding of the meaning of a global warranty is worse.

I want a refund, but I am getting a repair (and using up 2 weeks out of the 90 period - where they'll deign to fix their inadequate… Read Full Review

ipods have generally never been designed to last more than 12 months. The battery can only withstand 500 cycles which is 500 full charges or 500 discharges then it packs in and apple will want £59 of you to replace it. Plus with it being a video ipod that can only handle 2 hours of video on 1 full charge you will reach the 500 charges amount quicker than quick then you will have to fork out more cash for a new battery and you have to send it away to apple for this to be done. Screen scratches very easily just put it in your soft pocket with no other objects in there and watch in amazement how the screen has more scratches than a hiphop DJ has on his records.

Written on: 13/01/2006 by PG (1 review written)

I regret that I will have to return the iPod Video model MA147LL that I purchased, due to a serious software bug and/or design flaw. When playing tracks that are meant to flow continuously from one into the next, the iPod interrupts the sound and blanks out for a moment between tracks. It does this EVEN WHEN RIPPED TO .WAV files, which do NOT have this problem with other manufacturer's players. HOW could such a serious design issue pass quality control and get out undetected, and or unfixed… Read Full Review

Written on: 03/01/2006 by Travis541 (1 review written)

I love my new (black) iPod Video that I got for Christmas. It is thin, and easy to carry around. The only bad thing is you have to buy an AC adaptor to charge it at the wall socket. If you don't buy the AC adaptor you have to charge it on your Computer. I haven't figured out how to download songs from iTunes from a pre-paid card yet, but I have downloaded from my CD's onto my iPod. It's COOL!… Read Full Review

Written on: 01/01/2006 by Getty (1 review written)

I know some techno geeks say that iPods are for fashionistas, but the iPod Video is fantastic as far as I'm concerned.

It is ridiculously slim and stylish (mine is sexy black), and it has pretty much everything I need. It syncs perfectly with iTunes on my iBook, and loading and editing its content is a doddle.

The screen isn't large but it is very clear and sharp. Some without 20:20 eyesight may struggle to watch an entire film on it, but I've had no problems with the screen size.

Written on: 28/12/2005 by anna k (1 review written)

I got my Apple iPod Video/MP3 player on Christmas day so I was very happy as you can imagine. I think that it's very easy to use, but putting videos on it is a bit of a hassle. If you want want to put videos on your iPod be prepared to download Quicktime Pro (£20) which converts your videos into formats which are compatible with your iPod. Or (this is what I did) search around on the net for free trials or alternative programs.

I'm a bit disappointed with the battery life though, and how you… Read Full Review

“The Apple iPod Video is the worst MP3 player ever!! ”

Written on: 17/12/2005 by Ruthven (1 review written)

The Apple iPod Video is the worst MP3 player ever!!

My screen has cracked after just 2 days, and I am gutted. I spent my hard earned cash on an overpriced piece of rubbish!!

The music quality isn't even as good as a CD. It also scratches very easily. If this thing is in your pocket with your loose change and keys it will be destroyed; even if your wearing jeans.

I am going out today to buy an iRiver!… Read Full Review

Have you not heard of Piano finish? It's not meant to be loose in your pocket with keys and change, off course it'll get wrecked there. That's why they make covers for them. In terms of sound quality being awful on yours, it's because you've probably recorded your tracks in MP3 format when the (Apple only) AAC format is far superior. Also, on any stereo, the headphones are always the weakest link. If you haven't already destroyed your ipod, invest in a decent set of phones....

Written on: 07/12/2005 by tinkcreative (1 review written)

The moment my Apple iPod Video came out of its wrapping it started to scratch. After just five days my Black Video iPod looked like it was two years old. Why Oh why do Apple sell them when they scratch so easily? As for video, with a screen that scratches so much, I doubt I'll be watching very much on it. If it lasts a year I'll be amazed. The build quality really is poor. Like someone who gets all dressed up for a great night out only to get dragged through a bush seconds later. Is their night… Read Full Review

Hey mate, have you ever heard of a hard cover? I know they scratch easy but just get a $20 hardcover! It's worth it.

My advice. Don't chuck a spaz!! Get a hard cover for your ipod. It stops it from getting scratched and doesn't cost much at all.

After about 5 seconds of deliberation I decide to part company with my trusted Apple U2 iPod and upgrade to the flashy Apple iPod Video (30 Gig). It's a decision I don't think I'll live to regret. I got this for just shy of £215 and consider it to be good business.

My main motive for the upgrade was to get the video feature. I'm pleased to report that this is of very high quality and you get upto 2 hours worth of playback time, which I think is excellent. You can also link it upto your tv and… Read Full Review

Written on: 16/11/2005 by audioslavery (1 review written)

The Apple iPod Video completely destroys the other iPod's. It is very thin and it comes in the color we've wanted for a normal iPod, black. The only downside I'd say would be there is not enough battery life in it. The screen is very clear and crisp, and I mean very. Black scratches easily but it is a lot cooler than white. The amount of memory for the price they charge is very good. The only thing I don't understand is why does it not come with a wall charger? It costs $30 extra to get that… Read Full Review
