“Breitling - POOR SERVICE- AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Schaison on 19/09/2022

When you send your watch for a battery replacement Breitling send you a quote for 550$. You call customer service and they tell you that full service is required. I paid the full amount and my watch was returned and I was unable to twist the crown, impossible to go through all the menues. Since I didn't complain right away Breitling refused to repair my watch unless I pai 550$ again. DO NOT BUY BREITLING - POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE - POOR WAYCH QUALITY, NOT WORTH THE MONEY.

“Aviator watch a failure”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Rodleonard on 10/07/2021

My approx five year old hardly worn watch was left with their service with digital time working, but analogue hands suddenly not adjustable. Received a quote from them for approx Aust $1600.00 to rectify. I visited the Sydney centre store & was advised that a new circuit chip was faulty & had to be replaced. Obviously very poor durability, so asked them to remove the battery which cost a service fee of &49.00 regardless. Expensive, overrated JUNK which now lives in a drawer & lesson well learned.

“Poor quality service and watch”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 06/06/2018

Bought my Avenger seawolf II in 2012. Had it fully serviced at a cost of 600 EUR in 2017. Bracelet had at that point started becoming loose as a pin in the clasp would slide out. Service does not include replacing it, so the watch came back with the clasp still broken. Contacted the dealer, and the said the only way to fix the problem is to replace the clasp at 350 EUR, or the bracelet at 650 EUR. Apparently Breitling bracelets don't last 6 years with normal use.

“Watch has never kept time”

★☆☆☆☆

written by NewKent on 30/08/2017

I have a trans-ocean day date watch that has never kept time. Sent it to Breitling under warranty They said it was fixed but it still would not keep time. Sent it back to Breitling for the same problem and they want $1,100 to fix the watch, even though they didn't fix it the first time. I don't recommend Breitling to anyone. It is over priced junk and Breitling does not stand behind the product.

I agree. I have the same watch and it loses 2 mins over 3 days. I sent it back and they said it may have been in the shop stock for too long. They rewound the spring and sent it back but no change. I have since had it serviced and it is is still no good. A 4.5k bracelet. I use my phone to tell the time

“Never buy a Breitling watch!! Don't make my mistake!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by O'Sullivan489 on 10/07/2017

I have owned a Navitimer Men's watch for the last 5 years and have nothing but trouble. Sure the watch is beautiful however it has not worked for more than 10 months at a time. It has literally been in service longer than I have have had time to enjoy the watch. from water ingress through to hands falling off the dial and now I have been advised 'impact' has caused the latest breakdown which has been quoted at US$1,100 to repair. I am an architect and only wear the watch to work and dinner. If this type of daily activity causes 'impact' which creates US$1,100 damage, these watches are extremely poor quality! I have 5 other watches which I also have worn over the past 20 years, all subject to the same daily activities and have NEVER had to repair another watch. How does the Breitling need repair every 10 months or less. DON'T BUY ONE......like all others on the Forum, YOU WILL REGRET IT!!

“Breitling does not stand behind its products”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ScottPeterson83 on 03/07/2017

In May 2017, I purchased from an official Breitling retailer a new Super Ocean Heritage 42. The watch looked great. When I got it home, I noticed that the hour hand did not align with the hour markers. The minute hand had to go anywhere from 5 minutes to 15 minutes past the hour to bet aligned. I requested a return to have this fixed, and when I received my watch back, it, a brand new watch had been serviced but nothing done to fix the issue. I called and eventually got the customer service manager, who stated several times that this was within specification. I requested a conversation with the US President, who I was told does not speak to customers. So I wrote the CEO in Switzerland a letter. The next day, I received a call from the same customer service manager who requested the watch be returned. I then took pictures of watch at all 12 positions and highlighted the discrepancies. After another week plus, I received an email back stating that it had been fixed, so I authorized the return as long as all positions had been fixed. Needless to say, there were still two positions visibly out of alignment. Upon notifying this same manager again, I was told that this met Breitling spec. A watch that is a chronometer is out by over 5 minutes does not seem worth the reputation that this company has, and their lack of empathy is industry leading.

“Warranty not worth anything”

★☆☆☆☆

written by jakerose on 09/01/2017

just over a year after purchasing my Breitling watch it got condensation under the glass. I sent it back to Breitling as it was under warranty for 2 years. they want £823 to fix the problem stating that it was caused by accidental damage. there are no marks on the watch and they say that it could have happened by changing the time when flying. I have been wearing Omegas & Baum Mercier watches for years and have never had this problem. while their watches may be good, if their warranty is not worth the paper it's written on, I would not recommend purchasing a watch from them. in short it's an expensive watch with no warranty.

“Do not but one!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by dannyboy112 on 28/10/2016

I am a pilot so thought with my wife I would buy a Breitling as she loved the watch as much as I thought I did. I live in Australia and I can tell you straight out do not buy one period! I had two Tags over ten years and not one single problem. The Breitling after 12 months just stopped so I thought no big deal its under warranty. No I had to drive 90kms to place I could return it only to be told it will be 6-8 weeks? I was never told anything about warranty times etc.when I bought it which was interstate for me. Sure enough 7 weeks later it returns and working. 4 weeks after that it stops again so I return it yet again. After 3 weeks they tell me I have knocked it and therefore because it does not work its my fault only to be billed $600. I was annoyed to say the least but I paid it as I wanted it back and I hadn't heard anything so inquired today only to be told yes they have received the money I transferred but it will take another ten weeks to get back to me. If I'm lucky I'll get it back before Christmas. This is the worst service I have ever heard of and no one really cares. I own and operate numerous companies and I can tell you if I delivered service like this I would be broke. As soon as this piece of rubbish is back in my hand I will be selling it. Anyone want a CHEAP (yes it is cheap) watch. Never again Breitling you should learn the importance of the lifetime value of a customer as you will not be getting any from me. Im 48 and this is the first review I have ever done in my life on anything!! so it clearly shows how disappointed I am in this brand. Buy a Mickey mouse watch would be a better choice.

“SHOCKING BREITLING SERVICE !!!!!!!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Nielsen1962 on 21/06/2016

As with many other stories & reviews of BREILING WATCHES I am reading too many are reporting shocking service, terrible repair timescales (up to a year) and 'up-selling tactics' of repairs and maintenance of such"wonderful timepieces".. My Story so far... My Superocean 42 went for a service & was losing time - it was just out of warranty so I was liable even though I felt such a quality timepiece should not be losing time. When I handed my watch to Ernest Jones in Silverburn, Glasgow for a service I thought 'great' as I was told 6-8 weeks and I'll have my watch back. Then it started to go downhill after week 6 when I was called by the 'estimates team' to discuss my 'estimate for works'..."excuse me what about the service I wanted ?" - this was never mentioned & with the estimates team on the line 'up selling' tactics persisted & pressure tactics I felt to discuss my 'estimate for work' - no mention of the service just to discuss it had received an impact damage which when described sounded like another watch because my watch looked pretty fine to me when I had put it in for a 'service'.. and how much it would cost to fix - My service was meant to be £385 and they quoted £1,100.00 for the works.. 6 months of back and fourth and I got it back. I initially put it in for the 'service' in December 2015 and it was finally returned in May 2016 and after a saga and negotiation in price and works AND now its running fast less than 3 weeks later and the saga is about to start again when I return it. SHOCKING SERVICE BY BREITLING !!!!!!!!!

I have just received the most appalling service from Breitling, I returned a watch with a leather strap well within the warranty period. They said it was worn - yes it has been worn for 6 months. There is a split in the strap in a position that cannot receive any mechanical stress hence - a fault. They will not even consider the possibility as the strap shows sign of wear around the buckle. This wear does not mitigate a fault in an other regions of the strap.

“Making insane profits off service!”

★★☆☆☆

written by 21jackson on 25/05/2016

I purchased my Super Avenger about 4 years ago and absolutely love it! I get countless compliments on it. 2 years ago one of the hands fell off and was essentially "floating" around. I sent it in to be repaired and they charged me $900 as they stated there were other issues. I agreed, had my watch back in 2 weeks looking as good as new. Last week, the exact same hand fell off so I sent it back to be repaired. Today I received the quote of $1232. I let them know I wasn't interested in any other repairs/service/etc., however it isn't an option since they'll need to do some other things to watch in order for it to be remounted and working again. In addition, and not that it bothers me too terribly much, but it loses a couple minutes every month. I love the look of my watch but really dislike the folks at Breitling who would rather gauge me for service than sell me another watch. Guess I'll have to move over to a Rolex where I hear the service is top notch!

“Watch still not returned from Breitling after a YEAR!!!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Clarewhitehead on 10/02/2016

I have a question wether anyone has had the same poor experience as myself?. A year ago my breitling super ocean was sent away for a routine clean which should have taken 6 weeks. 3 months later I received an email stating that my watch had internal damages due to an external impact. Both myself and Hinds are in full agreement externally the watch did not show any signs of impact especially to warrant internal damage to the parts. Also due to working in Iraq most of the year the watch itself has only been worn a few times. An email exchange occurred in which breitling has shown poor customer care and response timing! It has been a year now and I still do not have my watch back from breitling and now seeking legal action.

Breiting's service is appalling, it took them 10 months to service my Breitling Emergency. Further issues with durability on calf leather strap - a suggestion was that it should only be worn once or twice a year if you wanted the strap to have any degree of longevity.

“Great watches shocking customer service”

written by Thedocta on 13/01/2016

So i send 2 watches back to breitling uk through AD both for overhaul service 1st of all quoted wrong prices by both buk and the AD when quotes came back totalling almost £2000 for both i reluctantly agreed for work to be done and now 15 weeks later still no watches returned and apparently still in the workshop should be done soon! I own 5 breitlings and now think maybe i need to sell them all and buy something else instead maybe 1 perfect watch instead of 5 problem and costly watches!!!!

“Don't buy one!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by msLong206 on 14/12/2015

I've always loved the look of the Navitimer range so I decided to spoil myself with a navitimer world. Now being a cherished owner I decided to have the watch serviced even though I was not experiencing any problems and this is where I lost faith in the whole ethos of the Breitling company. It took them four weeks just to tell me what needed doing (minor issues) and then a further 10 weeks to complete the major service. So in a year my watch has been away for for a third of that year! Imagine taking a Mercedes into a garage for a service and been told to come back in 14 weeks time for collection. I've written to Breitling twice with no reply not even an acknowledgement so I guess they think customers don't count in their business plan. Perhaps this insight sums up all that is wrong with the company. I was told by the appointed retailer that although I included the service booklet to be stamped by Breitling with the watch they often don't bother to write anything in it!!

I have 4 Breitlng's + my wife has 2 so bought a watch for my son's 21st birthday. Terrible experience with the quality of the strap, customer service comment was that it showed signs of being worn!! - hmm - buying a watch to wear what a novel idea!!.
A split manifested itself in the strap at a point not subject to any mechanical stress. As other areas of the strap showed signs of wear this fault was not recognised as a warranty issue.
The watch has had no more than 6 months of wear and they propose a cost of £178 to replace the strap like for like - £32 per month for a leather strap!!

Exactly the same happened to me, leather strap loops delaminated and was told that straps can last anything from a couple of months to a few years & it wasnt covered as the watchhad signs that it had been worn - yes for 16 weeks! This was a manufacturng fault but I was asked to pay £170 for new strap. When I enquired what warranty a new strap would have I was told it depends on wear and tear? Breitling 2 year warranty does not say that straps are excluded. Buying a non Breitling strap. Terrible company and agents

“Rip off”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Dalev53 on 26/07/2015

I've owned this watch for about three years. For the last several months it's been running slow. I sent it in to be looked at and sure enough, $850 to repair. A $7000 watch that needs $850 less than three years later??? No thanks. First and last breitling I'll ever own. I had a $1500 TAG for ten years and it never gave me a problem...

Breitling's warranty is not worth the paper it isn't printed on. Life subject to "fair wear and tear" is quoted as being anything from 2 months to 10 years for a leather strap. If we take a mid point of say 3-5 years (benefit of doubt offered) - how can they suggest 6 months is a reasonable life time? - this was quoted today. They said the issue is "the watch has been worn" - I find this totally bemusing that anyone should buy an expensive watch to not wear it!!

“Horrendous experience ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by DesiraeJohnston134 on 20/07/2015

Was bought a Navitimer 01 by my fiance as a wedding present just 3 days later it had completely stopped working. I sent it in for repair and what a surprise the fault is mine because of a very small mark on the strap / shoulder which has completely stopped the watch from working. Now it seems to me either: 1 - All breitling watches are of such a poor quality that a small knock can completely break it or 2 - the watch is faulty. I then do some research and find 50-60 complaints on the internet of customers with similar experiences. I've visited the Bond street shop 7 times and called the service centre 4 times and yet no manager has been able to speak to me about it. To top it off when i asked for the supporting report for clarification on the matter they havent even produced one and i'm still waiting 2 weeks later for a bl%^dy report. This experience has completely ruined what was an amazing present. I've had a rolex for 10 years and never had a single issue with it yet on day 3 this breaks! shoddy workmanship! BUY A ROLEX INSTEAD!!

“Dream to nightmare”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Nicke34 on 29/04/2015

I bought what I thought would be my dream watch. A superocean heritage! Beautiful watch to look upon and after two years of indecision decided to treat myself whilst on holiday and a preferable exchange rate. Wearing the watch each day for two weeks I was distressed with the time keeping. It gained approximately 9 seconds a day! Not to worry I thought, the international warranty should cover this and indeed sending it back to the UK authorised servicer via my local authorised dealer the fault was supposedly corrected. Now having sent it back and reviewing the COSC standards I found the watch on it's return still on the borderline of acceptance within the standard. This however was not my only complaint. The watch having been sent back to Breitling in perfect condition in appearance was returned to me with numerous scratches and scuffs. Appalled I return the watch to Breitling asking for a replacement. Unfortunately a replacement under the consumer rights act needs to be with the country of purchase and being back in the UK I was refused. They also suggested that they would polish it.....sorry, but having bought a brand new watch why should I put up with having my watch refurbished! I didn't buy the watch from a second hand market like watchfinder! After some to and fro they suggested they would replace the case. As a goodwill gesture! They tried to blame all including the original sellers for the scratches rather than admitting fault. Poor customer service. Do yourself a favour and buy Rolex!

Apparently consumer protection laws do not apply to Breitling, "fair wear and tear", "fitness for purpose" are alien concepts to Breitling as is the wording of their 2 year global warranty against manufacturing defects has exclusions that are not specified.

“Poor timepieces”

written by Enrique283 on 26/04/2015

Me and my partner bought one model and within months I it had broken. Eventually the shop agreed to replace watch but I added another £5,000 sterling and bought the best model in the shop. Within 9 months the date was broken and I lost my watch again over Xmas period for a total of 8 weeks. 2 months on and the watch is now not synchronised with the date and it has to go back again. To pay £10,000 and have to have two repairs done within one year is disgusting. The date changes before midnight!!! I expect this from cheap watches but not from brietling. Don't ever be drawn in by brietlings beautiful designs as their watches and service are poor. DONT buy brietling watches, that's the bottom line.

“Poor quality, terrible customer service.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 21/04/2015

My fiancé bought me a Breitling colt for an engagement present. Less than a year later the number '6' fell off the face!! After sending the watch back to Breitling, expecting an apology for the poor quality, a repaired watch and maybe a show of goodwill such as a new strap or free service for my trouble. Sadly what I actually got was a claim from Breitling that the damage could only have possibly been caused by a heavy impact, not true at all, and that they will not repair the watch under warranty!! Worlds worst customer service ever! I'll never be buying another poor quality watch like this. Do yourselves a favour and never ever buy a Breitling.
