“Dreadful quality! ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by josiebaby79 on 16/08/2022

I purchased a Tripp hard case suitcase in December 2021 but because of Covid have only used it on three holidays. Each time the case has only carried less than the minimum baggage weight of 23kgs. As such I am disgusted that after only my third ever holiday using my suitcase, which was by far the most I have ever spent on a case, that two of the four wheels have caved in, with the surrounding area cracked and split! Tripp is supposed to be a good quality company and have a guarantee in their luggage so I am fuming that after spending so much money that this has happened! With two wheels caved in pushing it is now very difficult! I am due to go on holiday again in just two days time so this is how I noticed. I may as well have purchased some cheap supermarket brand! Not impressed!

“THEY ARE MAKING PEOPLE WRONG INTENTIONALY”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Chilltcher on 10/06/2021

They will easily deliver a suitcase of the wrong size and they are not ashamed to consider it the right one. They also attach paper with the right size to try to make a person a complete idiot. Never buy anything there again. I doubt that the reviews they have on their site under it are trustworthy draw from other sources as well. Did you receive a suitcase of the correct parameters as stated in the product notes? I experienced the inconvenience of delivering the same suitcase of the wrong size to me, and using a document of courage to pretend it was the right one, as if they didn't realize it was utter nonsense when the difference was so noticeable. Unfortunately, it was taken over for me by someone else who did not know what it was, but the absolute dilettantism and the fact that one has to deal with such nonsense just before an important business trip is simply appalling. as if they couldn't check it properly when he knew what the suitcase was supposed to look like, what dimensions it represented.

“Excellent customer service”

★★★★★

written by CarolineE68 on 03/02/2020

We bought 2 cabin sized suitcases. These are of good quality and we are very pleased with them. However, on their second outing, someone tried to break into one case and we were left with a suitcase with no zip pull or way of securing it. Other than that, the case was fine. Tripp kindly located new zip pulls and posted them to us (at no cost to us), which has saved us buying a new case. I completely recommend this company.

“3 Suitcases, Med size Absolute Lite II 1st time used.”

★★★★☆

written by SeasonedTravellerTanz on 05/04/2019

1 bought Absolute lite II, large case then bought the other 2 for the set Med and Cabin. Have used the large several times no issues. First time I used the med case the 1 set of wheels came off in transit through airport ..... I contacted Tripp, they were apologetic and offered a replacement - excellent. As I'm out of the country Ill have to arrange it when I'm back home. But so far they have been very positive with their replies and assistance. Bought suitcases because of dislike of Zips. Nice and light and sturdy too.

“Sustainable, quality products, with helpful service”

★★★★★

written by KTAnn on 28/12/2018

An avid traveller by desire and necessity, my Tripp case has been used a lot. However, not all roads and paths are as well-designed as the cases. After several years of intensive use, one of the back the wheels completely wore down. This rendered the case fairly unusable. I was loathe to throw it away, not only because it is an excellent case, but also because of the waste and all that plastic. I therefore contacted Tripp and asked if it was possible to fix. Without issue, following some photos of the broken wheel, they sent me a new wheel without charge. It was easy to unzip the lining and screw in the new one. The service was also excellent and very friendly. It's just a shame they don't advertise this service first before offering a new case! Much better for the environment.

“Tripp luggage suitcase quality & 5 year warranty...”

★★★★★

written by packupyourbags on 18/04/2018

Excellent customer service and warranty. I got straight through on the phone. Very helpful. The 5 year guarantee for The Holiday model is genuine. My replacement and collection of the faulty case was completed within 5 days of contacting Tripp customer services. Only the TSA lock had become faulty, the actual case had lasted well. These large cases give a genuine large storage inside and are made of a very tough hard material so I wanted to stick with Tripp.

“Handle fell apart on 2nd usage”

★☆☆☆☆

written by WelshGenius on 19/10/2017

Bought 2 of these from Debenhams in Oxford Street, and they look nice - streamlined design. Handle fell apart on 2nd usage and looking the the remaining part of the handle fitting, it kind of chips away as you touch it - like chalk. Looks like the rubber mix must have been too soft! Live overseas so cannot easily return but will try to tackle them when I go back this Christmas. Disappointing as they look nice and cost enough!

I'm so sorry to hear that you've had issues with the handle on the case. Are you able to send us through some images of the case now? I understand that you are now living abroad but we can discuss the way forward in terms of bringing them back in for an exchange under our guarantee.

“Utter Rubbish from a dishonest Business”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Jamison88 on 19/09/2017

Bought a case from this second rate company and fully regret it. It lasted 1 trip intact, the second trip a wheel fell off, the third trip another fell off. Contacted the company and they would not honour their guarantee. Be cautious because they only allow reviews on their site immediately after purchase so the glowing reviews they choose to display are only based on the look on the product. Once you have actually used the product and it has failed (as these terrible products inevitably will), you cannot review - hence their appalling rating in review centre against the 4.8 out of 5 stars they boast about. Avoid at all costs.

Thank you for your review.

I understand that we have recently been in contact with you regarding your issue. A replacement case was offered to you however as we no longer manufactured the case in the same colour as you had originally we were unable to offer you an exact replacement. You then advised us that you would therefore keep the case you had as you had made a repair on it.

We do try in every instance to resolve any issues however we were under the impression that you were happy to keep your current case. We are more than happy to discuss an alternative replacement if you would prefer.

The review emails are automatically sent out 1 month after your initial order however we cannot resend a review link for an order which is over 1 year old I'm afraid.

As discussed, we understand that you will also be writing to us regarding this however please don't hesitate to get in touch with us via email or telephone if you prefer. We are unable to post the contact details here but they can be found on our website.

“Topple over with Tripp!”

I bought a Glide Lite cabin 2 wheel suitcase and was horrified to discover the first and only time I used it it kept falling over! I checked some reviews and saw that some other people had found the same problem. As an elderly female had it not been for some helpful people I met on route I don't know how I would have managed. I certainly would not recommend this product.

Thank you for your review.

I'm very sorry to hear that you've had issues with your Glide Lite cabin case.

Although it is a 2 wheel case it should stand up on its own, we have sold the Glide Lite case for around 8 or 9 years and we are not aware of an ongoing issue of this nature. Have you been in touch with customer services about this? If not then please find out details on the Tripp.co.uk website as we are unfortunately unable to post them here. We can then arrange to get the case inspected for you as soon as possible.

I sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused to you and look forward to hearing from you soon to try and get this resolved.

I purchased a holdall which was not suitable, I did not like the quality so have been trying to return it, the courier company (Yodel)have not turned up despite staying in all day and only to be told they will reschedule and I will have to stay in another day as they don't give a time slot. Why do they make it so difficult to return items... why cant they do what other companies do and either issue a return label or arrange for drop off centres... Not happy and would not recommend Tripp

“Case ripped after only being used twice”

★★☆☆☆

written by Dugher on 07/09/2017

We purchased a large soft bodied Tripp case from Debenhams last year. We used it last summer and again this summer and the case is already ripping at the seam. I am very disappointed with this but also concerned because all our luggage is from Tripp as we thought this was a quality brand, and I am now wondering if our other six cases are going to go the same way.

“Poor quality handles”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 19/06/2017

We bought a Tripp suitcase from Debenhams, at a clearance price. We should have been a bit more cautious. Two "trips" later and the carry handle, not the trolley handle, has snapped off in our hands, as we put it in the overhead locker. Searching for a replacement is a waste of time, with Tripp themselves stating they cannot recommend a suitable site to find a replacement. Managing the suitcase without the handle is extremely awkward, despite trying it on two very long haul flights. Thoroughly disappointing, and another item to add the landfill. Warranty is the key issue here; one can almost expect suitcases to fail you, so keep your receipt, and log your warranty.

“Appalling quality and fake guarantee”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 299Snyder on 14/06/2017

I bought a Tripp hardshell suitcase in January. On it's 2nd trip, it split on one corner. It was fine when it came off the carousel but split afterwards. I returned it to the shop but was told that the guarantee is worthless as Tripp tell customers to claim off the airline. This wasn't damaged by the airline. "Blame the taxi then" she said "There's always someone to blame". I'm blaming Tripp as this was an expensive suitcase and should survive being handled at a airport. Don't waste your money. Only have it 1 star as there wasn't an option for zero.

Trippluggage's Comment

Written on: 22/06/2017

Thank you for your review.

I'm sorry to hear that your case has been damaged. I'm very sorry for your disappointment and I understand your frustration with this situation.

We operate a 5 year guarantee which covers all manufacturing issues however this does not cover transit damage such as airline damage or general wear and tear. We would always inspect all cases in order to ascertain whether the case would be covered by our guarantee.

Please be assured that we test all of our cases to ensure that they are robust enough to withstand the normal amount of handling expected during transit. It would normally take a huge amount of force to crush, dent or crack one of our cases which is why after an inspection it was deemed not to have been due to a fault with the manufacture of the suitcase.

If you would like to send us over some images of the case by email then I would be more than happy to look at this again for you? Our details can be found on the Tripp website, I am unfortunately unable to post them here.

We look forward to hearing back from you soon.

will this fault be covered by the warranty or will the "claim from the airport" kop out be given by Tripp as would appear to be the usual response. It seems these suitcase are not fit for purpose as the warranty becomes invalid if taken to an airport...... ludicrous IMO, any views on this appreciated....

I had a broken handle and asked Tripp if they could supply a handle. They told me that they don't supply spare parts, but to take my case to my nearest stockist for a replacement. I took it to Debenhams in Southampton and without any proof of purchase, they gave me a new suitcase. Definitely worth a try.

Problem solved by lubricating wheels > now gliding as good as new!

Bought two cases last year. On holiday in February one of the digital locks jammed and would not open. Is this covered by the guarantee please?

I have the Holiday llll Large 4-wheel suitcase. When it's laid flat for opening, there's a rectangular plastic device in the centre of the base on the outside - what is this for? It looks as though part of it should slide open but I can't make it do so and I'm reluctant to use too much force. I'm completely puzzled.
