Some good jokes in We Will Rock You. Great singing performances from the black guy wearing a kilt and the blonde head company honcho. They were the only ones who really 'owned' the songs themselves… Read Full Review

Written on: 28/12/2005 by meno (1 review written)

Overall, the We Will Rock You musical at The Dominion Theatre in London was nothing to write home about! I wouldn't go again, even if the tickets were free. Even the legendary We Will Rock You song didn't do much for the audience. Having recently seen Dancing in the Streets where the entire audience danced and sang, this was a serious disappointment… Read Full Review

Written on: 13/09/2005 by smc29 (1 review written)

Admittedly, myself and the three friends I went to see We Will Rock You with, haven't been to many shows in London, and admittedly, we were all in a very positive and happy frame of mind, but that alone cannot allow for the huge high that we were all on during and after watching We Will Rock You at The Dominion in London. It was quite simply the best thing I've ever seen.
I felt somewhat aggrieved at the start of the show when I realised that understudies were performing the roles of Galilei… Read Full Review

Written on: 28/07/2005 by willyam (1 review written)

I've never seen anything like We Will Rock You in my life. I know a lot of 'professional critics' panned it when it came out - but what do they know!!??
It certainly helps if you are a fan of Queen's music. I saw a version with a couple of understudies, but they were excellent-as were all the cast. Faultless harmony singing - although I'm not entirely convinced this is genuine or a backing tape. It looked genuine enough I have to admit. The lighting and scenery are 'out of this world'… Read Full Review

Written on: 05/07/2005 by emsah (1 review written)

After reading some reviews on We Will Rock You before i went to see it, I was a bit dubious as to whether I would like it or not. I went on the 2 July with a friend, I have always loved Queens music but my mate is not a die hard fan. The opening of the show was Fantastic, it set the tone for the rest of the show. Loud music, fantastic vocals and great one liners from all the cast, especially Scaramouche, and the Killer Queen,what a woman!! From the minute the show started it got your foot… Read Full Review

Written on: 29/06/2005 by harveypowell (1 review written)

We Will Rock You at the Dominion Theatre London is one of my favorite West End productions, I really love the way Ben Elton (the story and script writer) has managed to incorporate the songs from Queen, in such a way as when you hear the first song you feel like you are stepping into a different world "The world of Queen".

On Planet Mall all musical instruments are banned. The ga ga group makes computers generate the tunes and the kids download them. It's an age of Boy Bands and of Girl bands… Read Full Review

Philwalsham's Response to 199680_harveypowell's Review

Written on: 29/07/2005

I have to agree with this review, 'We Will Rock You' is a classic musical utilising a thoroughly modern/futuristic theme. Queens songs are brilliantly entwined with a funny and delicate script - A Ben Elton masterpiece. As a Queen fan I was worried about how the songs would be 'shoe-horned' in but all that are used have been worked in well with an excellent homage to Brian May's glorious solos!
<br>
<br>I have been 3 times and notwithstanding the danger of becoming a fanatical musical goer - I will be going again!
<br>
<br>Incidentally it's a great musical to give someone tickets as presents.

I was surprised to see a couple of pretty negative reviews of We Will Rock You at the Dominion Theatre in London. I can't agree at all but will try to be objective...

Four of us went to see this show and we all LOVED it. We did, however, discuss afterwards that people who were real Queen fans might not like it so much. We all like Queen to a degree but none are 'big fans'. For us, therefore, it did not matter that the songs did not sound just like Queen. To us that was not a problem - but… Read Full Review

We Will Rock You, Dominion Theatre, London - We Will Rock You is the best musical I've ever seen, the cast were fantastic, and all had great voices, especially Scaramouche. Whoever said she couldn't act is very wrong, she was the best character in my opinion… Read Full Review

Written on: 03/11/2004 by trishh01 (1 review written)

I'm not a big musical or theatre fan but We Will Rock You at the Dominion Theatre in London is a must for anyone who remotely likes Queen music and enjoys a good laugh. The humour is quick and sharp, the actors' singing abilities put Pop Idol, the X Factor and most of the performers on Top of the Pops to shame. We had to book 3 months in advance for tickets but it was well worth the wait. If the show ever does a UK tour I would definitely see it again… Read Full Review

We Will Rock You, Dominion Theatre, London - I knew what to expect from a tribute show having seen Mamma Mia. These shows are a new and different, if rather expensive, way to watch and listen to your favourite songs. My gut feeling is the plot of We Will Rock You is not quite right. But maybe I need to be a proper Queen fan to be in tune with it all. Didn't like the links to songs. Maybe the songs have meanings other than those that can be gleaned from the arrangement of letters that make up… Read Full Review

We Will Rock You, Dominion Theatre, London - Having only been to a couple of musicals before (and actually having a part in a local one!) wasn't sure what to expect. Didn't really think that this would conform to the stereotypical format and I was not disappointed.
This was much more fun and lively than I imagined. It was loud, brash and "in yer face". If you are looking for a bit of light entertainment with some cracking music and a good laugh then this is a show for you; however, if you take… Read Full Review

Last xmas i got soem theatre vouchers from my folks as they tried to imposse some culture on me. I thought Queen made some top tunes i suppose that We Will Rock you will be alright.

I was completely blown away, it was pure genius, ben elton has written some quality jokes. All of Queens big hits are included, including radio gaga, flash, bicycle and boheimum rapsody.

When i went the stand in was playing the lead part but he was top banana, apparently he got to the last 50 of pop idol a… Read Full Review
