Just returned from lakeland holiday resort in my touring caravan touring pitches are a disgrace potholes it is an absolute mess we were talking to some of the caravanners you left three days early in disgust every think is money £12 for half an hour to go on the board on the lake £12 to hire a pedal go-kart for pound to go to the disco in the pool there is at least anything free The entertainment for children was good but for Donald's entertainment at 9:15 till 10 o'clock was shocking never go to this caravan park ever again

“how its changed”

★★☆☆☆

written by peepey on 23/09/2013

went to this park 25 years ago, how its changed, entertainment then excellent, entertainment now, TERRIBLE,,, on arrival, caravan fine, one of the top models, but had to call cleaner back as it wasnt up to scratch, restaurant pleasantly surprised, food very nice, although husband said it was liking sitting in a mcdonalds lol, staff very very helpful and friendly, BUT we all dont like football blaring out when you are trying to chat and have a meal,. entertainment as i have said, was terrible, very unorganized, visited park deane last year and entertainment was much much better. position of park okay, but not if you havent a car, quite a distance from the main attractions and sights, we dont mind travelling so we found it okay, dont think i will be staying on this park again, layout f park very nice

“Worst Haven caravan park I've been to”

★★☆☆☆

written by dickie54 on 05/07/2013

Looked forward to the holiday with my 9 year old granddaughter. Reception, although 3 people behind the desk only 1 dealt with the new arrivals, with the result a build up of people waiting to get their accommodation, not a good start. Caravan was good, clean and tidy and reasonably equipped. Children's facilities were pathetic, the pool very basic unless you were prepared to pay for scuba, water walking or aqua sport which were expensive for the length of time given. All outside activities stopped or didn't go if the weather was anything but sunny. Staff very unhelpfull and difficult to find when looking to get granddaughter in to daytime activities which when attended turned out to be something different to that advertised and the attending staff were too few resulting on all the children 1 - 12 were together instead of being split into appropriate age groups. Archery cost £8 a session,12 people attending, each got 9 arrows and stood about more than learning to fire an arrow. Left a day early but the reception did not querie why. Not a site I will go back to. Could go on and on.

“Great site !!”

★★★★☆

written by on 04/06/2013

Just returned from a long weekend break, wish we had booked for longer but then again the weather was great every day so that obviously makes a big difference. On arrival there was a small queue for key pickups but the staff were very efficient and very pleasant and cheerful. There was a big monkey talking to the kids and handing out lollipops to keep them entertained while we waited at reception. Our particular caravan was amazing it was a privately owned one, beautifully and tastefully decorated, tv, video, dvd players in all rooms, washing machine, two bathrooms and even a bath, central heating and gorgeous patio to sit out on. Could not fault it and we only upgraded to luxury plus. The site itself was very clean, lawns well ,maintained and tidy. outside the camp border wasn't too thrilling it was surrounding by wasteland but that was nothing to do with Haven. Staff were very friendly and helpful, reception and security staff available to help and very prompt when needing assistance. The inside and outside pool looked great and again well staffed. Not an awful lot for the younger ones to do, the play park was overcrowded at times, could do to be a big bigger, there was another play/park near the tents and tourers but again small. One of the slides was damaged so was not in use which was a shame. Loads of grass areas with signs telling you to play on them and make use of them which is great to see. People with little ones could sit and picnic and play ball games safely. Chip shop was awful, staff miserable and food poor for the price, there is a chippy just outside the camp in the village square, we ate out at Yakkers and The Pheasant, dear though but plenty of food. It took us about 30 minutes or more to get to Windermere as the country roads are slow to travel on but if you like driving plenty to see and do. All in all i would recommend the site and we would return so thumbs up !!!!

Amazing holiday, caravan was immaculate and facilities was great. Excellent for families plenty to do. Every member of staff was pleasant and helpful. Can't wait to return. Kids were entertained by the fun stars and evening entertainment was enjoyable. Beds were comfortable and caravan had everything we needed. Resteraunts had plenty of choice and were reasonably priced and tasted great. Swimming pool was clean and loads of kids daytime activities to do. 5* well deserved

written by on 05/04/2013

Never have we been to a Haven before now, always, pontins and Butlins, i am the worse critic and i couldn't fault it, Food was fantastic, presentation of food excellent, and tasted delicious, Staff very friendly, Archery and Fencing,Aquajets, excellent instructions, not a have a go type of activity, proper training by experts, Funstars were lovely and helpful, powerful dances, kids loved it, the shows were great and very well planned.accomodation was lovely, glad we had the central heating one's, as was very cold temperatures outside, If i could change anything? or recommend Bingo could start a little earlier, if you like that sort of thing, but the kids shows were fab, and the Lee Evans tribute was amazing, the best in the industry, very clean venue, can't wait to go back and hopefully see the Lake they are making, great position to visit the Lakes, overall excellent WELL DONE!!! “RATS ON THE SITE!!!!”

★★★☆☆

written by on 24/08/2012

I don't like to moan, but every night a rat came in to our tent and stole our food,so one tip put all your food were a rat can't reach! The ladies toliets has a glass window on an angle, so you could see anyone on the toliet if you looked up. But it was a nice site and good activites to amuse kids and adlts. The staff could improve in manners greatly. Go to this site, it's nice if you don't mind rats. A spar near by to shop at. I wish I would have known about the food as it was dry.(chicken) but the chips were nice. Over all it was fine.

“contaminated beer”

★☆☆☆☆

written by billybob55 on 04/08/2012

My partner and myself visited the park to look at the facilities with a view to taking our sons there at the end of august for a short holiday. We had a walk around the park, then decided to have a drink in the bar. After being served we sat down and looked through the menu,we then decided to order some food and have another drink with our meal.when i got near the end of my drink i got a mouthful of cigarette tobacco and there was a butt floating in the bottom of the glass.I immediately informed the young waitress who took the glass away, she reappeared a short time later and informed me that i could only have a 'half pint' free.I pointed out to her that i wasnt complaing just to get a free drink, but that i didnt expect to be served with a beverage with a cig butt in it.She went and got her supervisor and i told him the same thing.Even though he apologised i still came away from the park feeling humiliated, and i got the impression from the staff that 'i was trying to pull a fast one'. This is the first time ive ever gave a review because i usually just dont go back to a place where ive not been satisfied. But in this case i decided to express my views simply because of the shoddy way i was treat by staff.

“Don't listen to other reviews they are sad...”

★★★★★

written by on 15/07/2012

We like you, booked lakeland and then read all these reviews saying bad service and we were a little bit worried. I strongly disagree with every single bad review regarding Lakeland it was fantastic one of the best parks, I have ever been to and I have been to more than i can remember. Our stay was the most chilled out break ever, we made a point of trying everything the park could offer and the pool is brand new, the showers and toilets are brand new entertainment was great something for everybody. The only downside, were the security didn't really make us feel secure, they were either quite old or non existent, which in a way wasn't really a bad thing but one to watch. During our stay it was the Owners Exclusive summer ball, which meant that all the people that had been fleeced into weekly payment schemes to pay £100 per month for the next 40 years for alledged ownership to be able to ponce around with dicky bows on and prom dresses as if they owned the actual venues and the land which they were built on,was actually quite funny to watch. but please give Lakeland a chance the staff work hard to make sure you and your family enjoy your holiday. To sum it up Great park Clean (and if not clean you tell someone and they upgrade you on the spot for free) plenty to do Fantastic staff (especially Dave warden on the touring top bloke deserves a promotion) ignore the bad reviews give it a go touring camping or renting caravan

“Respond to Customer Comments”

★★★☆☆

written by mcmcconnell on 12/07/2012

Second visit to Lakeland and although we enjoyed ourselves had a few disappointments and des[pite handing in our customer comment questionnaire have yet to receive a reply! 1. Caravan was tired and tatty looking. Leak in toilet so it smelled of dampness and floor was wet. Reported it and had a repair done but was still the same when we left even although the window was open wide all weekend. 2. Lack of basic essential equipment i.e. no teapot, fish slice, soup ladle, tongs. No trays for oven. Only had a rectangular glass casserole dish and had to use the wire tray from grill pan to cook breaded chicken and potato croquettes! 3. Caravan too far from amenities for anyone with walking difficulties. 4. Amenities were good especially the new swimming pool. Entertainment staff were good with the kids and great playpark. Trampolines and bouncy castle. Would recommend it for kids. Nighttime entertainment was good although difficult to get a table. Would hate to be their when it was busier. 5. Short staffed in the restaurant and bar and also a distinct lack of dishes as we waited over half an hour for a coffee and hot chocolate as their were no cups and had to be put into the dishwasher. Member of staff was helpful and offered to bring them to me in the entertainment hall but after half an hour I went to get them and they were still waiting for cups! 6. Receptionist was pleasant when I reported fault in caravan but was rather abrupt whem I mentioned the lack of equipment and banged a teapot and fish slice onto the counter!

“Excellent base for lakes”

★★★★☆

written by on 27/06/2012

Excellent holiday park, easy seamless booking and registration/checkin when onsite. Caravan spotless (we booked a Delux Plus) it was lovely and clean and very spacious, offered everything we needed. We were a family - 2 parents, a 2 year old and 2 grandparents - so I did think 4 adults and a little one would feel cramped. But no, plenty of space. Great base for the Lakes, steam train at Haverthwaite a must for all the family - goes direct to Windermere Lakeside - so can catch a boat then into Ambleside if wanted, or just go in the Aquarium at the end of the railway. Great ways to entertain children (especially as was raining!). Didn't use much on the site, only the shop. We used the local chippy in Flukeborough village for yummy fish n chips made to order. We went to 'live lounge' one evening, which is pretty much typical holiday park entertainment - we didn't take the 2 year old as tucked up in bed, with grandp's kindly watching him. So was good for a couple of hours, lots of children running around, so would have been good for older children. A bit sneaky in that have to walk THROUGH the arcade, before get to the restaurant, bar/pub or the 'live lounge' so imagine its expensive with children. All in all, great caravan and base for the Lakes and local tourist attractions.

“Haven Lakeside, Loved it”

★★★★☆

written by Melcardy on 14/10/2011

Just returned back from Haven Lakeside, me, partner and 7 month old baby. The check in was so quick and easy, literally took 2 mins and then off to find our caravan. We booked a prestige caravan but ended up getting more of a platinum caravan so even better! We were on the Golf Complex site with our own parking driveway and the caravan was excellent with en-suite + full bathroom with bath and shower. Kitchen with absolutely everything required and a lounge with a 3 piece suite and patio doors leading to a very large patio area. All in all the caravan made this holiday it was like living in a house not a caravan. We ate in the Parks resturant which was ok just average really but not expensive as neither were the drinks from the bar. Didn't really use the evening entertainment as our 7 month old was in bed for 8pm. We did go swimming at the parks pool which was good. Most days we went out and about as plenty of places to visit, we went to bowness (30 min drive) Dalton zoo (35 min drive) and more local places. We ate out at the Engine Inn in Cark (5 min drive from the park) the food was excellent here. Also had fish and chips from the local village Flookburgh just up the road from the park which were really tasty as is the sandwich shop in the same village. We stayed just 4 nights and this is the best caravan holiday I have ever had but like i said pay that bit extra for a good caravan and it makes your holiday so much better!

“haven or hell”

★☆☆☆☆

written by joanna41 on 20/08/2011

Just returned from what I can only discribe as a nightmare. Caravan was filthy. Ripped lino on floor cracked sink in bathroom. Empty drinks bottle under bed, curtains different lengths hanging by hardly any curtain hooks, dead flies on surfaces, hair of every description also on surfaces. Bed linen ripped. All this for 700 pounds. Went to reception to complain and perhaps be moved and was greeted by the receptionist smiling telling us sorry we are fully booked. Did not seem to care and got the impression she was use to this type of complaint. A one armed bandit called the spar shop...as if we hadnt paid enough for the holiday we where now having to pay more for our conviencies. outdoor swimming pool also filthy. Utter disgrace. The final straw was two men fighting outside the live lounge at 9.pm the bouncers seemed reluctant to get involved just what you want your 8 year old to see. Avoid at all costs. This is one family that wont be returning. Haven you should be ashamed of yourselves.

“not for us”

★★☆☆☆

written by paul_br on 19/08/2011

Just returned from a few days at this site. Site was clean and tidy. There was a Spar shop at entrance which stocked a reasonable selection of basic food and drink. Platinum van excellent except the decor which was brown and awful including ghastly rugs. Building site behind some platinum vans (including ours) with operating machinery 9am to 5pm mon-fri. Staff powerless to help. From our perspective the complex at the front of the site was terrible - only entrance via amusement arcade, kids park small and over busy - drinking and smoking in this area also. Pool tiny, no slides etc.... (boring and only went in the once). Never ate food in complex, but forced to enter a star rating here - menu looked very average. We did very much enjoy our holiday - but only by staying away from the site as much as possible and visiting mid Lakes daily e.g. Lakeside Hotel (highly recommended), Fell foot park, Brockhole, Grizedale centre. Left some days early and booked hotel in Keswick instead and had a great time. Unlikely to visit any Haven site again in a hurry - just not for us. Plenty at the site appeared to have no issue and seemed to be enjoying the facilities - perhaps just a question of taste; definitely not for us and no mention of building site at booking time or at arrival - left to discover this joy for ourselves; didn't feel looked after as a customer in this respect at all.

“Family Summer Holiday”

★★★☆☆

written by happyday on 30/07/2011

We had booked a private hire caravan at the LAKELANDS HOLIDAY PARK not through Haven. We nearly drove past the end of the road where the park was as it was not well sign posted, only sign we seen was the one right at the end of the road which only showed a caravan and a 1 mile. When we arrived we went to reception to check in and not the normal check in the family bar area. Staff were helpful enough as we had been given all the information from the owner of the caravan. We did have a problem with a blown light in the ensuite bathroom which we reported on day one and chased up on day five, I have a feeling we would still be waiting for it to be fixed even now (not impressed). As we had booked privately we had to then pay for Funworks passes which turned out to be the most expensive swim, bouncy castle and a play park (which was too big for a 4yr old) ever. Our caravan was really clean and welcoming, in a great location within the park. We ate out on the first night in the Mash Barrel. The choices were not great, just ok. I had a desert of chocolate chip cookie and ice cream, which looked like the ones you bought in the Spar. The swimming pools were small for the amount of people there and the changing cubicles were family ones, which were not very practical for everyone and only a few of them, causing people to queque to go in and out. We only went twice. We went to evening entertainment only once and neither of my childern were impressed with the kids entertainment and the part after which was meant for adults was not that great either and the drinks are expensive, which we expected having stayed at Haven Sites in the past. We had great family time in our caravan and exploring the area out and about. It was great to explore and plenty to go and see and do. The South Lakes Wild Animal Park was well worth the money, all had a great day.

“lakelands brilliant value for money”

★★★★★

written by on 20/07/2011

just went for a long weekend, Great value for money for visiting area as 5 of us stayed in a 8 berth superior caravan with free evening entertainment thrown in, 2 live bands Poker face + Relentless were both good + circus was brilliant and of course the funstars kept the kids entertained with all the dance routines, the park was clean and staff friendly.. they even had a tabletop sale and farmers market on sunday so topped up on books.. the only let down was the weather...but it stayed dry long enough to go on the coastal walk.didnt use swimming pool but did use fish pedicure pool which i've wanted to try for ages,It took about 30/40 mins to bowness on windermere.. (loads of swans, ducks and eateries and outdoor shops and of course boat trips) definately would use Haven again..
