“I’m not covered directly by Zurich but my insurance...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Hasnag47 on 07/03/2024

I’m not covered directly by Zurich but my insurance policy is underwritten by them under the name of bymiles. Equally both companies are rubbish. Zurich did the handling of my not at fault accident claim recovery on my behalf and apparently according to my insurer I needed legal cover to have my excess recovered which I didn’t have. That meant that I would have to claim back my excess directly from the 3rd party insurance. Passed from pillar to post Zurich kept saying they haven’t recovered the excess because I don’t have cover and it’s the 3rd party that needs to pay me. However, the 3rd party stated they have paid the excess to Zurich. Luckily I asked the 3rd party for proof. So after months of telling me they haven’t claimed my excess and conversations back and forth with Zurich, 3rd party invoice showed they in fact did pay my excess to Zurich! So all this time they had my excess and were referring me to the 3rd party. What a joke. When calling their recovery team I was advised they are still waiting on £125 to be reimbursed to them before they can now pay my excess. After kicking off and telling them they have received my excess already why do I have to wait as the 3rd party won’t pay that final amount because Zurich couldn’t prove what that was actually for. As the the 3rd party stated this to me when I asked for proof. I now after months of battling with Zurich apparently will be receiving my £500 excess. I won’t hold my breath but would never use this company the whole claim has been based on lies even though they have the evidence in black and white in front of them.

“WORST INSURANCE COMPANY IN IRELAND ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Adeola32 on 29/02/2024

My car got damaged in front of my house and i contacted my insurance to make a claim . After 3 weeks of going back and forth with them , mind you i was the one contacting them nobody gave me a call . I have been told my car was at a garage to be repaired and some parts will not be available till April , i was told point blank that there will not be any provision made to me while i wait for my car to be repaired . The lady who works in the department basically told me i am to be stranded until my car is fixed. I find that very unacceptable and they are the most non-challant , obnoxious, lack of empathy, uncommunicative insurance provider, avoid them at all cost as they just take your money but will not provide any reasonable solutions if you need it . Absolutely disgusted ????

“Filed a car insurance claim with this company on 22nd...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by IsaiasGarner490 on 17/08/2023

Filed a car insurance claim with this company on 22nd March. Despite providing all necessary evidence by May, the handling from their liability team has been nothing short of horrendous. For months, they've consistently shown a shocking level of incompetence and a blatant lack of concern for their customers. I'm beyond frustrated with their prolonged delays and sheer negligence. For anyone considering their services, I'd think twice. Their approach to customer care is deeply flawed, and their inefficiency is startling. Not recommended at all! ⭐️☆☆☆☆

“cancellation fees”

written by White96 on 07/03/2018

After paying £75 every month for two years the company renew policy for £85.35(I have 9 years no claims discount and my wife hold driving licence for 4 years).Obviously I did some comparison and fund someone who is happy to charge me £35 its less then half isn't it?I call them today to cancel the policy which started yesterday and they charged me £25 cancellation fees (for one day). Normally the companies give you 2 week Do not deal with Zurich!

“Such terrible service it made me sick”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ReviewerLF1984 on 12/12/2017

Such terrible service that I became physically ill from the stress of dealing with this company. They give you nothing but take everything. When I filled a complaint they didn’t care and told me to take it to the ombudsman. I am. I also need everyone else to know NEVER to ensure with them. Treatment was not even worthy of 1 star. Lied to. Offered below market value for car (which they’ve then changed). Lied to about this too. On hold for hours. Passed from person to person. Couldn’t get out of policy. Hung up on. No help. Didn’t reply to emails. Lied to again. Patronised.

“Insurance doesn't cover anything”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 139Malloy on 24/08/2017

I bought the insurance because I see a lot of vehicles with the clear coat coming off. When I called because my clear coat was coming off I was informed that this was not covered. She referred me to the back of the policy where it states peeling is not covered. No where does it designate clear coat. I even told the car dealership when I bought the extended warranty that is why I was buying the it. Oh way it also took me days to get ahold of someone that told me that basically in my eyes the policy is worthless. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!

“Dreadful ”

I insured my car with Zurich and as usual you only find out the quality of what you have brought when you make a claim Mine should have been a simple claim and liability was quite clear However it's now two months later and I hear nothing from Zurich - I have to constantly chase them and my car is still not repaired Be warned - I will not be renewing with Zurich

“Poor Customer Service and Settlement values.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Reagan108 on 02/04/2017

Zurich and their "assessors" do not have any empathy for their clients. Had an accident which the other person and Police accepted was there fault. When trying to get a fair value for my car which was written-off Zurich just tried to offer the minimum THEY could, would not give me any details of similar cars and their value. Just that they only offer Trade value when settling even though we only found 2 comparable vehicles in the UK and £1000 more than Zurich offered. They refused to even give us details of any "Trade" cars for sale etc. What is galling is that Zurich are OUR Insurers, why screw their OWN customers! We saved "them" money by not Hiring a car, no consideration for this, just Abruptness. Meanwhile a friend had an accident whilst Insured with Direct Line and the other party with Admiral (virtually same circumstances) and they ensured it was all resolved quickly and to everyones satisfaction. I know where I am insuring next.

“Total shambles of a company.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Susie674 on 13/02/2017

Back in august of last year my car was broken into, I made a claim but cancelled it realising I could get it fixed faster. As my renewal was coming up I was informed my claim was still open. I rang Zurick and asked what was going on they stated before the claim could be closed I had to pay the recovery fee. Ok why didn't they tell me this back in august, as its now February I made the payment straight away direct transfer, was promised this would be sorted within 48hrs. All week I have been chasing this up, even got my bank involved to be fobbed off saying yes they have my money but my claim still was not closed down. I once again explained that my insurance runs out on the 13th feb and unless this was sorted I would have to pay double. Which obviously is not fair as I had not made the claim and had already paid the fees. There answer was it is not our fault its the banking teams fault. So once again I will have to chase them up tomorrow and get my bank involved again, and have to pay double my price. So angry as I have been driving 24 years and have never once made a claim. Avoid this mickey mouse company at all costs.

“I got robbed and robbed again.. Then I got charged for it!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Rudoro on 03/10/2016

Never ever choose this company ... I felt like I was robbed twice . And after that got charged again. Very poor customer service. Made a big mistake. If you can put that money at the side instead of paying them . They will leave you waiting for a month and after tell you that they declined my claim because I turned around . This is insane ..

“A disgrace is polite”

written by nomi5 on 14/07/2016

After being involved as a pedestrian being hit by an at fault HGV insured by Zurich, Zurich Insurance group have gone as far as relying on fabricated reports they have commissioned to try and evade meeting their financial obligations. The reports they have commissioned are so badly made they are quite funny, anyone who spent 30 seconds on Google Street View would realise what a complete and utter load of twaddle they are ! Despite it being proven to Zurich Insurance group the reports they have commissioned and are relying on in Court have been fabricated they refuse to accept this fact despite them having a variety of witness statements and photographs that prove what they have submitted is banal to say the least. Zurich have been in denial with regards to their liability for over four years now and use any excuse or lie to avoid paying out. It wouldn't take a five year more than a minute to work out what had happened given the evidence its that obvious. I will be putting Zurichs report on to the web and a photograph of what the area really looks like and the postcode so anyone can check in 20 seconds on Google Street view to see how ridiculously these sort of companies can conduct themselves in trying to evade their obligations. When reminded they are accruing statutory interest on the sums owed by failing to meet their obligations promptly Zurich immediately go into denial . Zurich's staff are compulsive liars who would swear white was black. The broker who arranged the insurance on behalf of the Logistics company have contacted them on my behalf asking as to why Zurich had not settled the claim in my favour but was ignored. Zurich have been unable to present anything other than a laughable fabricated report to support their claim they are not liable in over four years and are happy to got Trial despite it being proven that would equate to perjury:) Don't deal with a company this ridiculous I have no idea how they stay in business in the first place.

“Horrible coverage”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 336Richardson on 24/12/2015

Dealer only offered this insurance. It was a terrible experience. Thought we were covered for all oil leaks, transmission and engine. Had our jeeps oil changed and full inspection the night before and the next day some metal lines failed and ruined the transmission.....you guessed it...only internal problems are dealt with. NOT COVERED and towing is only 100$ covered. We paid $170 of the bill and only went 35 miles. Tow truck was only 10 miles further to come. No wonder their financials are so strong....they don't have to pay out claims.

“Just changed my car halfway through a policy. Expected...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by lmHolden449 on 17/12/2015

Just changed my car halfway through a policy. Expected to pay a bit more each month. They have doubled my premium. A woman parked so close to me in a supermarket car park that I caught her door getting in my car. She came out screaming so I informed Zurich what happened and even though the woman never claimed as there was no damage to either car they say there is an outstanding claim. Make the most of it because once this policy finishes you lot will never get another penny from me. Shower of rip off merchants. Broker was RAC another mob about as much use as a chocolate fire guard. Your decision will ultimately cost them both more in future lost trade than it will cost me in unjustified rip off charges. Avoid these companies at all costs.

“My car doesn't exist on zurich computer ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 251Bullock on 08/10/2015

Had the misfortune of getting a quote off zurich car insurance. After giving the reg number and running through all thee other details I was told that my car of 15 years didn't exist. I was told it was a problem with there computer and they would get back to me the next day. The next day I had a missed call from Zurich but a message saying it was sorted and can give me a quote now. Later that day I received another call saying they had looked on there files and my car didn't exist. I said why and how after 15 years does my car not exist. I was told there computer did not recognise it even though it's on the dvla site and dozens of reputable insurance companies sites. Makes me wonder IF I had took out insurance with zurich and had to make a claim would it all of a sudden not exist. And on that I wouldn't recommend this company as it sounds all to shadey

“Zurich car insurance”

★☆☆☆☆

written by dgghjurfsrtujlutyrew on 18/06/2015

I think I would sooner sell my cars and walk rather than insure with Zurich again. After filling in their application form with my details I received a letter from them stating that I was involved in a no claim accident whilst insured with Aviva and that they would be cancelling my insurance if I did not supply further details. On investigation I found that when my wife had a service at Mercedes a key scratch was noted on the door panel and they asked if she would she like a quote. After receiving the quote Mercedes advised her to ring Aviva, (my then insurance company) to inform them, which she did. I then gave these details to Zurich and told them that there had been no claim made as we decided to pay the repairs ourselves. Next another letter saying that Aviva need to remove the 'non' claim from the national register. I contacted Aviva again and they sent me an email confirming that no claim was made. I forwarded this email to Zurich who insisted that this claim must be removed from the national register, which Aviva assured me was impossible. Next from Zurich was another letter asking for copies of both sides of all three named driver driving licences, both plastic and paper parts, a copy of all four sides of my V5, and a utility bill from my address. I supplied all that they asked for. It is now two weeks later and I have just received another letter thanking me for supplying the information that was requested and asking for another £52.30 as I had made a false declaration on my application and my 'non claim' was still on the register. I contacted Aviva again and they assured me that 3 months before I Filled in the Zurich application my 'non claim' was closed and that no claim was made and that my no-claims bonus had been re-instated but it was impossible to remove from the nation system. Not good enough for Zurich I'm afraid, they insist that I had to pay the extra £52.30. I'm not desperate for that sort of money and I'm pretty sure that Zurich are even less desperate. Why don't they just be honest with their quotes in the beginning and save people weeks of anger and frustration. USE ZURICH ONLY AS A LAST RESORT. I certainly will not be using them again and without doubt would not recommend to anyone at all.

“Horrific”

written by Lloydlg79 on 03/02/2015

I was a third party in an accident. Getting my claim authorized is so difficult. It's been 60 days since their customer went into my parked car. They always say they will call me back but never have. They are lazy, have no idea what's going on and have upset me no end. Even the manager of the Melbourne claims centre couldn't help me. Had to get an ombudsman involved and my car STILL hasn't been repaired. Absolutely awful experience.

I am absolutely shocked to find that Zurich Car Insurance require as a must, copies of old paper driving Licence issued 41 years ago to effect the cover in addition to copies of current valid plastic driving licence issued by DVLA (no outstanding claim of any type). I will very much appreciate, if anybody has come across similar awkward requirement?
