Written on: 24/07/2007 by david john (1 review written)

Do not go with the Post Office unless you are certain your circumstances are not going to alter otherwise it WILL cost you as they are ruthless. The cheapest is not always the best I learnt by my very costly mistake… Read Full Review

Cancelled my claim without informing me as the third party was not insured. I have spent 9 months trying to cancel the policy. Nobody calls you back even when you take their name and they tell you they will call you personally. Haven't a clue what they are talking about, I am totally dissatisfied with their customer service. Am now looking at taking legal advice as almost 1 year later my claim and my request to cancel the policy has not been settled, also I must add the car was scrapped over 3 months ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1 - p/o does not deal in claims, they are the broker, 2 - if the third party is uninsured, and they cannot take the matter any further, i dont know the details of your claim, but the face of it, third party uninsured, and legal threats aint working, insurer will call it a day. claim closed but not settled.

“Cheapest quote, good customer services, I have 2...”

Written on: 29/05/2007 by publisher2 (1 review written)

Cheapest quote, good customer services, I have 2 policies with the Post Office Car Insurance and I needed to add my daughter who'd just passed her test on to one of them. Very helpful response and suggested I stop my current policy and start a new one to include my daughter as it would be much cheaper (it was by about £300 A MONTH!! 4 months later my daughter goes travelling for 3 months followed by Uni so I rang them again to take her off the policy. No problems done in seconds, a small… Read Full Review

You would think that as this is their business, Post Office Car Insurance would have a system for sharing information with the relevant parties, in a standardised format, but there is little evidence of organisation… Read Full Review

Written on: 13/03/2007 by insurerphobe (2 reviews written)

I took out this policy because 'The Post Office' is a huge and long-standing brand name and I was lured by the £50 postal order! I completely regret this move-

I had a no fault claim in December- a minor prang on my classic car- due to age, the car was written off automatically and I was given no courtesy car-they refused to even consider a repair and my car was taken away- I asked to retain my car- they agreed they would return it after their assessor had seen it -my car has now been lost!… Read Full Review

In the middle of a claim and can agree totally with the views expressed. Again due to age of vehicle car was written off, a settlement has been made, but is less than half the realistic value. I seem to be doing most of the work as there are so many company's involved, but no communication between them. The premium for the car I have purchased as a replacement is artificially high, but this "cannot be reviewed" as the claim is ongoing.

Insurerphobe's Response to insurerphobe's Review

Written on: 01/06/2007

I did finally get my settlement plus a little bit of compensation because they had actually sold the car and it was driving happily around and had not been written off at all! The first I knew of this is when The DVLA contacted us because they had to obtain the log book! I was also stung with the high extra premium for my new car and was held by the short and curlies because the claim was ongoing and they held my no claims bonus on that policy! I'm stuck with them until October but NEVER AGAIN!!!

“After having no problems with my previous insurers, I...”

Written on: 14/11/2006 by rocket69 (1 review written)

After having no problems with my previous insurers, I stupidly got taken in by the "match your quote and £50 cashback". 8 months into my insurance I changed my car. I rang Post Office car insurance for a quote, but found my new insurance was £150 dearer, even though the car was a lower insurance group. I got a better quote with someone else and decided to cancel, only to find that I was being charged the £115 left of my cover, but also an additional £35 cancellation fee… Read Full Review

Written on: 10/10/2006 by Mrs A Mawby (3 reviews written)

After comparing in detail online numerous insurance companies' policies, I saw an advertisement in the Post Office which matched the premium price of my selected brand-name best-buy, but also offered £50 cash-back, which I think is a great deal… Read Full Review

Written on: 05/10/2006 by JDPower (3 reviews written)

I insured with the Post Office as they were the cheapest, and they also offered £50 cashback at the time of insuring with them. Customer services were clearly UK based, which was a big positive after being with Norwich Union car insurance (and their useless Indian call centres). Also, they were very polite and efficient when I have needed to contact them. I haven't found any bad points yet, and I felt the need to write this review (my first) to balance the reviews of those who only wrote a… Read Full Review

Written on: 05/10/2006 by fx2000 (1 review written)

I used the Post Office because they were offering a £50 money back voucher. They were actually using the same company as my previous suppler. Fully comp for my new MINI Cooper was £150.

Whilst insurance cover for the EEC is offered, it requires you to tell them the period required and countries to be visited. Being a free bird I like to just GO. Fair enough if they say a maximum of 30 days etc.

It pays to be a good driver of 45 years with NCB… Read Full Review

“I sold my personal car as I now have a company car,...”

Written on: 05/10/2006 by xsunny2 (2 reviews written)

I sold my personal car as I now have a company car, and when I phoned the Post Office I asked them to freeze my car insurance so that if I do buy another car they can just transfer it. But the chap I spoke to said it wasn't possible to freeze my insurance and I had to transfer my car insurance within 30 days. I told him I had no date on buying another car, so he then calculated that I owed over £17 for the cancellation, even though my insurance finishes in February 2007 - 5 months away! I told… Read Full Review

Written on: 01/06/2006 by m (2 reviews written)

I have never, in three years of insuring my car, been treated in a most horrible way as a customer as I was by Post Office Insurance. Customer services is nowhere near the level it should be, and they do not provide the services they claim they do. I have been overcharged for my insurance for the past three months, and they failed to notify me of the overcharge until I personally noticed. On top of it all, I have been trying to cancel my insurance and they won't do it, and instead keep taking… Read Full Review

“I insured my car with the Post Office on the Tuesday,...”

Written on: 26/05/2006 by houndbrae (1 review written)

I insured my car with the Post Office on the Tuesday, ready to go away this weekend on holiday. Here I am on Friday night with no cover note, and the insurance has not been put on the VOSA database, so I can not tax it online. The vehicle has been on SORN for the past few months. I rang customer services this morning, and they told me they would send my local Post Office a fax to confirm insurance was purchased. Get real Post Office Insurance. I have holiday insurance through the Post Office… Read Full Review

“The Post Office Car Insurances approved repairer...”

Written on: 20/04/2005 by Patgan (1 review written)

The Post Office Car Insurances approved repairer collected my car and then didn't do anything for a week, they didn't keep me informed at all. When I called the Insurance company they blamed the repairer and the repairer blamed the insurance company. I am still waiting for them to make a decision..

The worst service I have ever experienced… Read Full Review
