We have been using Mamut since 2005, starting with 2 licences, we now have 9. Main reason to continue working with it is that it offers all functionality you want and employees with different responsibilities have access to the information they need. The biggest problem I'm having with Mamut is that they systematically release new versions without properly testing. The result is that after an upgrade, some functions which worked properly suddenly fail, requiring time consuming work-arounds and endless submitting of support cases. To revert back to the previous version seems impossible, unless you have a back-up, resulting in loss of a lot of work.
When you want to purchase this product, always make sure that you only upgrade to a newer version when there has been at least 3 service releases. Never become a Mamut Beta Tester, as you will not be rewarded financially in any way and obtaining the final bug-free version then can take up to 2 months longer. As their upgrades (Version 14 is the latest) usually come in December, you are safe to install the upgrades in March. That policy will save you a lot of time and irritation.

Tread very carefully before committing to a solution of this type. We struggled with the Mamut software for over a year and never managed to get it to work in a way which suited us, so we decided to ditch it for another system. Mamut support has been poor throughout our relationship and training virtually non existent, but once you decide not to renew your license they literally chop you off from your legacy data. The system cannot succesfully export to Excel files nor to competitor systems, so you lose almost everything! It seems that once you start using this system you're committed for life no matter what charges they impose. Mamut was probably the worst business decision we've ever made.

We have had problems with this software having used it for a year.
It does look good out of the box (and i wish it had lived up to the promise) but overa period of time we were Worn down by its overly cumbersome proceedures.
I see loads of reviews for it saying how great it is but where is
one from someone who has used it for a long time?
I spent 3 days getting to know it before i bought it but hardly scratched the surface.
Book- keeping wise we found the proceedures slow and laborious with
various proceedural problems. We had issiues with vat which mamut
couldnt seem to resolve so we switched the accounting to quickbooks
which put a big smile on the bookeepers face.
There are so many settings you will never be able to get them all right
and some WILL have repurcussions further down the line.
Support is patchy, anything not in the manual gets sent to second line
support which is minimum of 3 days. We had a vat query they took 2 week sto reply to but didnt even attempt to answer.
The help files and manual look complete but arent so be aware.
The import routines are awkward and the most basic i have seen. You cant
import re-order quantites for example, without these many of the purchasing
module facilities dont work. Mamut says you have to enter the m manually,
all 10,000 in my case. If you add additional outlets you have to repeat
that for them.
The real issue is not what it does but what it doesnt do and how badly it
does some of the things which should be really easy.
My advice is to avoid.

Robust and fast database. Competitively priced. Fairly easy to use. Supports many users.
To get the same functionality of say "MYOB Accounting Plus" you would need to merge three of the Mamut offerings: Enterprise E5, Accounting Professional and Payroll.

Mamut Business Software Mamut Accounting helps me to sell more and make more money.
I can't believe I managed before when we used 3 different systems - one for prospecting, one for payroll and one for accounting. Mamut does it all in one system and saves a lot of time, well recommend this buisness software.

I honestly do not believe that an independent user of Mamut could ever be optimistic about the product. Either he has never worked with another product "any" would do for that test or he his aligned. I might be doing you an injustice with my comment if so sorry and please consider trying another package just to make sure Mamut deserves your praise.

I found this review very helpful because...we found from the start after purchase 10/09 that it was not user-friendly & stuck with using myob. we were mis-sold the package in the first place with it not living up to the claims of seamless transition etc a waste of over £600! now they are chasing a 2nd year roll over because in the small print on the T& C we received with the package AFTER we paid says if don't cancel before 3 months prior to contract renewakl date you HAVe to have it & pay for another year! can they do this???
