Your move were very helpful, the staff are excellent and i cannot understand why some of the other reviews were so poor. I think that some people just want something for nothing these days. Your Move are not the cheapest, but these days you pay for what you get. The service level was fantastic, they he;ped me every step of the way. 10 out of 10!

Never go to your move. They charge so many hidden fees. Once you move in they never help you with any problem...Additionally they will charge inventory check out fee which make no sense. A simple text document and latter when you vacant they talk all rubbish. I have never seen a letting agent like this.If you want to rent peacefully never go to your Move.

If you want a smooth tenancy and no problems then i recommend you stay very far from Your move. My boyfriend and I rented a flat through Your move in Feb 2008 for a year, when we first moved in the flat wasnt very clean, oven was filthy, curry stains on the skirting of the kitchen etc etc. The radiotor in the living room did not work (we had a 1 bed flat therefore half our flat wasnt heated), it took over 3 weeks to be fixed and a contractor was sent out twice. The oven didnt work either when we moved in, switched on but no heat was emitted-this took a week to fix. Next to go was the tumble dryer, never really worked even after they fixed it so we gave up on it! In December we returned home at around 12am to find that the door wouldnt open, we spent the night in a hotel for which we were not reimbursed because in the contract there was a number for a 24hour locksmith (we dont carry the contract around with us). A locksmith was sent out and he couldnt get in through the door so he decided to lever the window open. He opened the lock and said he was going to Your move to ask them if he could fit a new lock. After he left we were locked in the flat (thankfully we were on the ground floor so we could jump out in case of an emergency). When he came back he changed the lock and left. I told Your move that the window was now broken as it did not shut properly. Window was never fixed for another 8 months!!!! Landlord got in touch cause she heard we were going to contest our tenancy agreement! We had to renew our contract for 6 months(i was a student couldnt move at the time) our rent was increased and were charged £109! Basically window was never fixed we got charged for a checkout! for a cleaning fee (£135) and to fix the window which the locksmith broke (£650). We are contesting the window fee but your move have been useless....just stole our money in any way and then did not help us when the landlord accussed us of breaking the window.

Manager from Your Move Estate Agents visited, was very positive and informed me my house would be advertised in the local press, on the internet and other various sources. After 1 week in local press, nothing. Had 2 viewings, one of whioh was through another agent. Did not return my many phone messages and e-mails. After 7 months was informed they were closing the office and would be taking my house off their books. Service deplorable. Would never recommend this Estate Agents to anyone.

never again! aweful service, never had that before, and would NEVER go thru Your Move Estate Agents again. Why would pay £450 + VAT for a HIP when I can shop around and get one for £250 including VAT, we are being pushed to pay for their choice when we werent even asked!

It seems that they talk themselves up to a very high standard but do not seem to believe that they have to do any work to sell your property.
They just keep telling me to lower the price - I could sell my own property just by lowering the price.
I cannot believe Your Move in the Portishead area did this.
BUT they posted our keys back to us when the contract was terminated.
The keys to the property in an envelope with the full address. Do not use your move - they appear to have no common sense.
We had to change all the locks.

We were told by a Manager that they had a huge data base of landlords, developers and first time buyers and that there was no need to advertise in our local property paper................... 2 months on , various "no shows" and extremely unclear cost (they do not tell you about VAT and solicitors fee not included in our quote), we have ditched them. It was far too stressful and there seemed to be a lot of lost leads, we had a few offers but they were poor and communication initially was bad. I would not recommend Your Move, they make an already stressful time even more stressful.

written by JazzyT on 26/11/2007

I feel that YourMove are not at all forthcoming about the level of fees you will actually be paying to them and that their service is extremely poor.

When the sales person came around, we sat with him and discussed other fee quotes we had had from competing agents which we stated included VAT. The figure he quoted us for fees, however, did not include VAT, a point which he failed to mention. He also failed to mention that their fee was in fact not 'all in' because it doesn't include legal disbursements.

Their claim to be service orientated is also erroneous. They never bother phoning and it is always us chasing them for updates.

Although we have eventually sold our house through them, I would never willing have any dealings with Your Move again.

They seemed polite and helpful initially. Contacted agent and went through the details with them but when actually viewing the property we realised some of the details were totally inaccurate - details said majority windows double glazed - and on the description of rooms stated i.e. bedroom one - double glazed window to front, etc. Unfortunately NONE of the windows were double glazed, furthermore all the sills etc were rotten.
When telephoning the agent they were rude, no apologises, and said the house was worth more than the asking price - even though it needed replacement of 12 windows! Also told us they had had lots of offers on the house for well over the asking price.

My flatmate and I decided to rent a flat through Your Move (Big Mistake)We had to pay 198 pounds for handling fees (references,contracts,etc...)After a month they told us that we had to pay an extra 95 pounds to complete the proceedings since referencing company did not finish with the references. The land lady became impatient with the situation so she decided to proceed with the contracts without references at all. (We paid 198 pounds for nothing) After six months we had to renew our tenancy contract so we have sent a letter to them stating that we would like to extend our contract. We did this twice and they stated that have never receive any letter from us. I think this is more than enough to show that their services are terrible.

“Out of the few viewings Your Move arranged for us,...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by LondonUK on 05/09/2006

Out of the few viewings Your Move arranged for us, probably about 1 third didn't show up (either due to fake bookings to make us think they were doing something, or cancellations, then no notice given to us because they don't have an answerphone). After a viewing, it was usually us who ended up calling them for feedback, and also feedback on following up people etc. We had no courtesy calls in quiet periods. Half the time when we called up they had to look up what was going on, instead of being on the ball and actively knowing the situation.

Info: Selling a 2 bed flat, good location, near station, good interior condition throughout, no work needed.
5 months, about 10 viewings, a third of which didn't show.
We definitely know it was the agent and not our flat that was the problem, with it selling as we moved to another agent - George Proctor, and within 2 weeks we had had 2 viewings and 2 offers, one offer subsequently accepted and all now hopefully going through.

“I let my house out through Your Move Estate Agents....”

written by debbiesmith on 23/02/2006

I let my house out through Your Move Estate Agents. The expensive inventory missed out a lot of items in my property, which astounded me as the house was hardly furnished. When I received a copy of it, after the tenants had moved in, I commented, but was told that it was too late to add anything. Consequently, when the tenants moved out, there was chaos: curtains were dirty, but, as they weren't originally listed, Your Move would only pay to have them removed (despite the fact both landlord and tenant said they were the landlords!). Ditto the fixed bathroom cabinet and bathroom mirror. Don't believe a word about Your Move checking cleaning has been done: even the loo was disgusting, but Your Move chose not to notice! I've had e-mails ignored, phone calls not returned and unbelievable attitudes from staff.

Commiserations, Debbie. Estate agents are they? Well, I'm not surprised at your experience, as in my opinion -- and I'll be polite -- they all seem to be guilty of terminological inexactitudes and an irresistable desire for other people's money.

“So our house is up for sale with Your Move. ”

☆☆☆☆☆

written by TimCullen on 23/11/2005

So our house is up for sale with Your Move.
48 hours after it going on the market, we have accepted an offer which we are delighted with.
We are also told that out buyer is having a large deposit from her mother and that her getting a mortgage won't be a problem, Fab!

A few weeks pass by. In that time we have found a property, sorted out our mortgage and had a survey done on our property we are buying.

I give Your Move a ring for an update, to be told that because of the large deposit being given by her mum, our buyer would be getting a small personal loan and should be sorted in a week or so.

2 more weeks and another call by myself to get a progress report, to be told our buyer is now getting a mortgage, as the interest rates are better with a mortgage (I could have told her that).

2 more weeks and still nothing. Our buyer has been at a funeral and had builders round etc.

Now, we are paying Your Move in excess of £1500. This was not good enough in my opinion, so I write a letter to the branch manager expressing my concern about the lack of activity and the lack of contact from their agents. I am then told that she has now sorted her mortgage, and not to worry as the survey would be done in 48 hours.

2 more weeks and no contact from Your Move. We resort to phoning the place where our buyer is getting her mortgage to be told that she is struggling to get a mortgage as she only works part-time.

So 14 weeks down the line, we have the survey done, and at the time of writing this, we still have no guarantee that she will get this mortgage.

Your Move never called back when they said they would. We have been more than frustrated with their poor service.

Use the Halifax, as they will chase anything up for you.

Andygunner's Response to TimCullen's Review

Written on: 11/07/2006

Your review made an interesting read for an Estate Agent like myself. There are some elements Your Move could not have done anything about, others they could.
For example, to avoid the entire confusion, the buyer should have been financially qualified by a Your Move financial advisor. This would have proved the source of funds and that the buyer can afford the property.
They also should have chased the buyer at least once a week to get detailed updates, and then inform you.
However, the buyer has the right to change how they finance their move. Also, surveys can take anything from 48 hours to 6 weeks to be booked, depending on the lender (ALWAYS ASK YOUR MORTGAGE COMPANY HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE!).
Lastly, your agent should have informed you that you have the option, at any time, to re-market your property. This does not mean cancelling the sale, but simply inviting more potential buyers to view etc in the hope somebody a little more motivated and serious about moving may offer on your property. As most of the legal work will have been done for the other buyer, your solicitor will be able to deal with most aspects of the sale in just a couple of weeks.
Good luck with your move.

written by strangelad on 10/08/2005

I had my property on with Your-Move for 2 weeks before my first offer was put in. I was ecstatic, but that's where my ecstacy stopped, I chased them continuously to find out when the survey was happening. After 2 weeks I was told that the buyers had just managed to find a mortgage lender and were sorting out the survey, 2 more weeks of chasing later I discovered that the buyers had in fact been back home to South Africa for 6 weeks and were due back in 2 weeks. They had been spinning me a yarn the entire time, at which point I was £800 into a full survey on a new property, utterly useless, not recommended at all.

Asked by MargaretRushton on 26th June 2014 Report this content
I cancelled my selling agreement with Your Move in March 2014. I have now rented the property though another agent. The rental contract expires in September. We had an offer to buy from a couple introduced by Your Move in February 2014 that we declined, a further offer was made and we declined that also. It was at that point we decided to cancel the agreement with Your Move. We then placed the property with another agent for rent, and they found a client almost immediately. The property is under contract for rent until the end of September. The couple who made an offer in February have now contacted me direct wishing to make a new offer. I have told them that the property is let now until September and that the property would not be available for sale until then. The couple asked if they could have there own valuation done on the property before making an offer when the property becomes available. I agreed they could. The valuation has somehow shown up on Your Moves data base and they are now threatening me with regard to agents fees. I have not entered in to any agreement to sell the property and will only do so after the rental agreement has expired, providing a suitable offer is made. If an agreement to sell is made at that time it will be a least six months after cancelling our agreement with Your Move. The question is can Your Move make me pay agents fees?
