Completely agree with the after sale service. We spent £24,000.00 on a kitchen and two years later we're still fighting for them to come and finish off the problems they've caused us. We also had a magnet fitter fit it, what a disaster, the pre fit was wrong and the fitting was terrible. We've had a problem from design, fitting and after sales service. My advise don't fall for there talk because that's all it is.

“Rubbish customer service”

Written on: 18/02/2012

I wished we had read some of the reviews before purchasing a Kitchen from Magnet, because we wouldn't have bothered. And what a lot of bother it has been! The customer service is beyond poor and we are still waiting for cupboard doors to arrive after 3 mths of actually having the kitchen delivered and put in. The guy at the Brentford is hardly ever there and never seems to return our calls, he makes promises that the missing things will be delivered soon and then they don't. I agree with one of… Read Full Review

“Very poor follow up service”

Written on: 17/02/2012 by JohnJJnrShiel (1 review written)

I purchased a Magnet kitchen because I wanted a quality kitchen that would last a certain amount of time. I was happy with the quality of the kitchen & was quite willing to have used the local(now closed)trade branch in Mitcham. The salesman I used in Balham was nice & reasonably competent, but seemed to loose interest when I researched the white goods and found I could save thousands by purchasing them independant of Magnet. I was sold units that were clearly not fit for use ie I have a small… Read Full Review

“Magnet complaint”

Written on: 16/01/2012 by KarenandSteve (1 review written)

Like so many reviews i have read on here the service at the beginning is good - the shop, coming out to measure up, designing, phoning to chat and being nice etc. But then what happens? Is it just because you sign on the dotted line and pay once the kitchen is ordered that all communication all starts going wrong? Why should the service promised stop if things go wrong or snagging needs to be tended to ? We started designing our kitchen over a year ago, had Magnet out to measure up and give us… Read Full Review

“Product good, company and service atrocious”

Written on: 03/01/2012

Initial design non-functional, after four and a half months still waiting for the kitchen to be completed. From the moment we purchased the kitchen we were misled by the sales people about the fitters capabilities, delivery dates, promises of people turning up to do jobs which never materialised. Basically at every stage, we have been lied to, even to this day. If I were to sum the experience up it would be, good product, not cheap (15k)however, the way Magnet conducts its business with its… Read Full Review

WELL DONE !! I couldn't have put it better myself.
We stood in for £22k for our kitchen ! Payment in full by the day of fitting or kitchen not released ! They must know they will get so many complaints! We are still awaiting refunds for overpayments, snagging to be done, fitters to come back, so many things to rectify but should only take a day of a fitter's time!! But they just don't do it. They don't return phone calls, e-mails. They are just busy seeing new customers are their branches.
What branch was yours from? Mine was Orpington in Kent !!
Shall we all get together and do a demo outside !!! ???
I wish someone had stopped us going in !!!

We agree with all comments about poor customer service. Taken over 5 weeks to fit kitchen. The whole experience was tremendously sressful.Taken in by reassuring TV ads and glossy brochure. That they had the best kitchen fitters in the business and that we would be in hands of experts, whose work was of highest quality and craftsmanship. All you would expect from large company.Wish we had gone small and local now.So many delays, and no apology from branch manager. We were always the ones doing the chasing. £16k not a small amount for anyone and we certainly expected better service than we got. Also suspect we were overcharged for some things. DON'T GO THERE!

I would add that taking out Magnet's finance is not a good idea. If there is still 0% finance available, make sure it is paid for in the timescale given, because if not it is very expensive.

“Started off well, but all went wrong from the fitting”

Written on: 24/11/2011 by ettebel (1 review written)

We had a good start with magnet. The Sales staff were pleasant and helpful and after 3 iterations we got the design exactly as we wanted it. We opetd for the Innsbruck kitchen. We did want the Studio White but this was £2,000 more expensive. We paid a total of £7,169. They asked us to pay all the money up front which we weren't happy with, but did because they were a large and supposedly reliable national firm. We had a magnet kitchen before but a friend fitted it - this time we had moved… Read Full Review

I can not believe the Guests response to etebel's review. By all means if you have a positive experience give a good review but there is no need to be rude to somone who's had a bad time. My husband and I had an appalling time with Magnet and many of our experiences have been the same as etebel.

“Twelve months and still waiting ”

Written on: 19/11/2011 by Mal.B (2 reviews written)

It all started with the initial fitting of the Magnet kitchen being delayed, but that was to be the least of the problems. All the cupboard doors were at different heights, the washing machine was banging against the sink, the dividing panels on the sides of the washing machine and the dishwasher were loose and were set back and not flush with the front of the doors, the hob was not fastened down and the \"expensive\" magic corner shelf unit had the door handle fitted on the wrong side putting… Read Full Review

Having been consumed by the MAGNET experience and the exausting process of having a brand new kitchen fitted and extensive building work on top i can honestly say that the service provided by Magnet has been A1(designer-martin dawe very professional)...until now! We had postponed the delivery twice and gave satisfactory notice of which magnet were extremely accomodating..not a problem as the kitchen doesn't get picked from the factory until the wk of delivery anyway...Unfortunatley on the day… Read Full Review

Written on: 24/12/2010

We bought a Charleston Bone'Magnet Kitchen' from a local store and spent CASH £16,000. The units look good but I was shocked to see the chipboard etc which is out of sight and I am sure I could have bought a fully wooden kitchen for a similar price from a joinery shop.
Also, a particular set of 600mm units purchased to fit on a section of wall were not shown in the catalogue, nor in the store, and when delivered and partway installed, it was realised that the glazing type was not acceptable as… Read Full Review

“Watch out for the 15 year guarantee on your Magnet...”

Written on: 23/11/2010

Watch out for the 15 year guarantee on your Magnet kitchen because it does not say that after 2 years they will not guarantee how the fitter put it in although they will guarantee the fittings. This is not made clear in the wording but this is what they said over the phone. We have had a drawer front come adrift out of the 2 year period and have been told it will have to be fitted at our own expense. In our experience Magnet will always try to wriggle out of any complaint that you make. I… Read Full Review

Written on: 03/11/2010

We have just bought a kitchen from Magnet in £16,500 refit. The designer at Aylesbury seemed to know what we wanted. The deliver was an excellent service, and everything fitted neatly in the garage. Then the fitters turned up. Made a mess of the electric which had to get them to rectify, Then hacked the back of the units as the wall wasn't true. My husband told them to stop work while he complained to magnet then the fitter instead of trying to cut up the unit which hacked it, took then down… Read Full Review

“Kitchen looks more appealing than its twenty year old...”

Written on: 01/08/2010 by Shirley J (1 review written)

Kitchen looks more appealing than its twenty year old predecessor but we have lost more than we have gained. I'd have liked to know that integrated appliances are smaller - we've had to keep the old fridge in our garage and use it daily as well as the installed one. I'd have like to know that boxing in the boiler meant we lost valuable work surface below it where we kept the food processor; that the tallest shelves on the wall units would be totally inaccessible for me. Standing up on chairs… Read Full Review

“ Magnet Kitchens has excellent cabinets and designs....”

Written on: 24/09/2009

Magnet Kitchens has excellent cabinets and designs. However once they have your money beware. There were lots of mistakes made with our kitchen, the fitter kept disapearing off site, we were without a sink for two weeks.
We are still waiting after eighteen months for the work to be finished, we have drawers that do not close and some cabinet backs are hanging off.
My wife has not been the same person since the installation.

Written on: 18/07/2009

We spent over £12k on our Magnet kitchen two years ago. Initially they provided a good design service and the fitting went ahead reasonably smoothly. We were however disappointed to notice random scratch marks on the work surfaces and the salesman admitted that the formica quality was not as good as it used to be. We have had a collapsed shelf as it was cut too small and we were particularly annoyed that the bin lids which are made of quite a brittle plastic started to split and finally broke… Read Full Review

Written on: 12/06/2008 by Debbie Bright (1 review written)

I have had my Magnet kitchen for 8 years now. On the whole it's been okay but as others my initial delivery experience was a total nightmare, bits missing, broken, wrong etc, etc.
An issue I have with them now is that one of my drawer fronts has a mark which has just 'arrived' which was not of my doing. I telephoned head office as my kitchen is meant to be guaranteed for ten years. One of their managers came out, told me that he could see it was not something that I had done but could not… Read Full Review

Written on: 19/09/2006 by watercarrier (1 review written)

The organisation of my fitted kitchen, from Magnet Kitchens, was a joke. The sales staff go on about how they will manage all aspects of the job. My wife and I ended up constantly chasing fitters, tilers, electricians, etc! The stroppy fitter fitted the dishwasher in the wrong place and initially refused to move it. Getting these people back to fix their mistakes is very hard work. None of these people work for Magnet. It would have been far cheaper to buy a kitchen and organise the… Read Full Review

Written on: 15/09/2006 by Bath boy (1 review written)

I guess no one buys a Magnet Kitchen unless it's in a sale, but compare prices carefully and don't expect the fitting to be a breeze, our fitter was a complete pain and there was nothing we could do about it. They don't employ their own people, maybe this is common practice. You now have to pay for fitting in the price, so doing yourself isn't an option. Instead, you are lumbered with a freelance fitter over whom Magnet seems to have little control. In contrast, the granite fitters were a… Read Full Review

“The customer service at the Cribbs Causeway, Bristol...”

Written on: 18/08/2010 by Mary Williams (1 review written)

The customer service at the Cribbs Causeway, Bristol branch was appalling. Although we are pleased overall with the product, it was incredibly hard work to get to that point. Non-communication was their speciality; phone calls were not returned as promised. When it came to finalising the details "to ensure that we are completely happy" the salesman (because that's what they really are) simply ticked off the items that had been listed at the first visit to give us an idea of cost, without any… Read Full Review
