Premium increased by 30 percent even though no claims have been made. contacted Saga and they claimed it was a change in under writers. An improved policy found for less than half the Saga quote. very disappointed in a company supposed to respect elderly people not decieve them.

My Mother (83 years of age) has been waiting for nearly four weeks to get her boiler fixed. The engineers are clueless and you get fobbed off by different people in the office. Saga said they would put mum in a hotel for the duration (Premier Inn)accommodation only. I don't know how she would get there (she is disabled) and what she would do all day is a different matter! Still waiting. Absolute shoddy service.

Have had home insurance with saga for two years, recently came back from holiday to find that roof tiles have moved and allowed water in causing damage to bedroom roof. After phoning sGa we were directed to legal and general. Who sent out a surveyor. He decided that the cause was old and was our fault. We had the roof checked weeks before and have had this checked since and was not our fault. The claim has been rejected on this bad is, beAring in mind the surveyor decided not to go into the lift but stood on a ladder and took photos. I feel very agreived at this as I am still one week later waiting on official conformation from saga to tell me my claim has been rejected. Very poor show, no communication at all and I feel that it stinks of give us your money and if anything happens to your house tough . More fool me ehh!

I have just spoken with Saga as I have had my bike stolen whilst on holiday.. I have had my contents insurance with them for years, and I now learn that if anything happens whilst I am away from the house I am not insured! I should apparently ticked something on page 3 of 14 which increases your policy cover.. So if I'd have been burgled I would not have been covered... What kind of contents insurance is that!? It should come automatically as part of the package.. Isn't that the most likely time that thieves strike and why you need contents? Check your policy... I can't claim for my bike.. My renewal is soon, but I'm shopping around now.. I would have liked to have known that from day 1

I have had my home and contents insurance with Saga for several years. Over the past two years the premier has soared by £200.00 to £680.00 per annum. I have made no claims during that period and there has been no change in circumstances. When I phoned to say I wouldn't be renewing the policy they did start a negotiation process but I believe they should have been offering me the best premium they could in the first place. I believe they have treated me very unfairly by assuming I would automatically renew. I eventually got better cover at one third of the premium from Sainsburys. I strongly recommend that you don't automatically renew with Saga until you have sought comparison quotes.

My washing machine leaked and Saga were informed as the leak had damaged the lamnite flooring. The water making it swell and rise. An engineer/loss adjuster was duly sent and he agreed that the floor would have to be replaced. Instead of accepting the services of Saga to repair the damage it was agreed by them that I could receive monetary compensation. Four weeks have now passed and I still have not received my cheque (Saga will not make a BACS payment). Excuse has followed excuse, from system breakdown, to confirmation has got to be sent in writing and agreed by me before the cheque can be sent, to somebody who said they were in the accounts and said they would send the cheque out that night. However, nothing has arrived. It's like dealing with a company that has financial problems and are procrastinating on their due payments. ARE SAGA GOING OUT OF BUSINESS? If they are not then why are they behaving in this Cavalier manner? My experience is negative with this company, they have no problems taking the premiums and have no problem with BACS payments then!

I used sage last year for our holiday insurance to Bulgaria, when we were there my husband developed a bad ear we went to the doctor who took our insurance papers and rang saga , there was a language barrier between saga and the doctor, so I spoke to sage I was told to pay the doctor and then claim when we got home we did this and paid 150 lev. I tried to claim back but because I could not provide the phone number that the doctor in Bulgaria used to ring saga on I was not entitled to claim. Would not use this company.

Home insurance renewal is carried out by auto renewal I've been trying to cancel this over priced policy now for the last 10 days. Emails they don't reply to. The Phones, all numbers are impossible to get some body to speak to. endless music. You are put on endless hold in the hope you might go away and not bother them.

Each year my two home insurance policies have shown hikes of 40% with the excuse of floods, inflation etc. Haggling on the telephone has resulted in small decreases, but depends on who you get to speak to! No more. In addition, I receive letters inviting me to take their car insurance : no way. I had considered taking their holidays but not now. I'm thankful that I refused their offer of automatic renewal. I suspect Saga relies on customers shrugging their shoulders and paying up, especially our more venerable fellow customers. My advice to them is to get relatives to assist in obtaining a better deal elsewhere. I am also a share holder. Alarm bells should have rung when then took so long to refund monies submitted to buy shares. The share performance perhaps reflects the state of the company.

My recent Saga renewal premium for buildings and contents insurance showed an increase of 29% on the previous year. I have never claimed off the company. Disgraceful. When I called to cancel the direct debit I said they would not be able to match the John Lewis quote but he fiddled about on his keyboard and was able to reduce the price to £1 below JL. I had used Confused.com to get quotes and even on there Saga gave a much better quote. I know they are all at it, increasing the next year quotes to existing customers. It is completely wrong and the Insurance Industry should be regulated so that people do not get ripped-off like this. Always change your Insurer, never, never accept their renewal.

You never know how good your insurance company is until you make a claim. We have been with SAGA for roughly 7 years, and only made our first claim with them this past month. Our driveway suddenly had a puddle which, upon investigation, turned out to be raw sewage, resulting from a blockage in the sewer pipe below. I phoned SAGA that afternoon, and they had an engineer with us first thing in the morning. He managed to drain the sewage, but it needed more work because there were tree roots in the pipe. Within a couple of weeks, another team of engineers came to repair the pipe. They worked quickly, restored the driveway to its previous state. The entire service only cost us the £150 excess which we expected. SAGA was courteous, quick, and so was the company they sent to repair the damage. Great communication. We knew exactly what they were doing and they came exactly when they said they would. No quibbles. Very impressed, actually. And I HAVE already recommended them to friends.

My recent Saga renewal premium for buildings insurance showed an increase of 23% on the previous year; the contents increase was a far more modest 12% ! I have never claimed off the company. Outrageous, but they blithely tell me that prices are going up in the market. When I complain, they are suddenly able to reduce the price (as a loyal customer) - now a mere 8% increase overall ! Never again will I trust Saga.

Similar problem as the previous writer Renewal came through £140 higher than previous year with supposed 5% discount and no claims made.

I called saga and told them the heating wouldn't come on, straight away they told me they'd sent the AA to fix the problem and they turned up earlier than ecpected. Fantastic! They did a great job and showed my husband and I how to fix the problem ourselves in future as it was such an easy thing to fix. I then had to phone again and the light in the bathroom wasn't working and so within an hour they had a very helpful man from FMC to fix the light switch. I would absolutely reccomend saga to friends as they have been very helpful and extremely efficient.

This time last year, my first year as a Saga customer, I took out buildings and contents insurance cover. Their quote was just about in line with others in the general market - possibly a bit higher, but I was happy to be dealing with an organisation whom I thought I could trust to provide good value. Last week I've received my renewal notice to find the premium has increased by 40% with no claims made and no change in my circumstances. I called Saga's customer services department to be told that the average rise in insurance premiums this year was 30% and there was no explanation as to why mine was 40%, other than I was not now getting the benefit of the first year introductory discount (which they omitted to tell me about last year!). So, not believing any of this, I called the local insurance broker who insures my cars - 15 minutes later I had three quotes from leading UK insurance companies, all of whom were between 40% and 45% less than the Saga renewal quote! It didn't take much persuading to immediately cease my custom with Saga! And now, prompting me to write this review, I hear on the radio this morning that house insurance premiums have actually fallen by around 3% to 4% this year on average! This doesn't really ring true with what I was told by Saga - in fact, worryingly, it may suggest that they are misleading their customers and charging rates significantly above market value, in the hope that a large proportion of their elderly customer base don't know better or won't do anything about it. I think they are the naïve party in this belief!

Never made a claim with them so can't comment on their customer service or the claims process. However my insurance has risen steeply with each quote over seven years and fed up with paying through the nose, enlisted my daughter to research my options online. I was shocked but delighted at how competitive the quotes were in comparison and have now reduced my bill by £150 with a well established insurer and got extra cover and a 24 hour emergency line. Am very happy I looked around especially having read the reviews about their claims process on this site. It just goes to show, loyalty does not pay these days and as saga is for the over fifties who may be less likely to shop around, it seems wrong they are fleecing older customers on a limited income who believe in and trust their brand name.

I took out house insurance with Saga, including boiler service for my gas central heating boiler. It has taken over 2.5 yrs to actually get a service. (Well, it hasn't actually happened yet, not until August) So I have paid for three services but still waiting for the first. I only managed to get a number to call by putting my concerns on their facebook page, which seems to have disappeared. It seemed to be run by someone, who must have been on duty 24/7, as all the replies came from him. Have to seriously consider my position here.

Claimed for storm damage.holes in the roof from next doors loose ridge tiles.gave quotes for replacement panels and damage.three months later saga sent a company called evander glazing to estimate repair.evander offered to repair the roof with silver tape. still waiting for saga to confirm a statment for the ombudsman. end of may 5 months later and no response from saga. except offering to sell me shares. I am concerned that this company is about to become insolvent as they cannot afford to pay out the debts. utter disgusted at the arrogant treatment. never again. ?...

I paid for home insuranc with Saga in one up front payment, the cover ran it's full course but I chose not to renew due to the horrific reviews. since then I have received a bill for £50.12 for cancellation fees.
I cannot get a reason from Saga so have not paid.
I thought that this company catered for older people,
I wonder how many pay up without understanding .
if I had cancelled mid term I would expect a charge, but not after the insurance had finished. I suppose the next lenter that I receive will be another demand for payment again without any explanation. Saga, not with a barge pole.
