“Would Not Recommend”

My husband and i have been using Riemann P20 Sunfilter for years and have always recommended it. We have just been on holiday and was using this product and we both got really burnt with it first time ever.My daughter had also used it for the first time and she to was really burnt. It stung my eyes so much that i had to go and wash my eyes out also We had big red patches all over our body.It also stained our clothes more than it has ever done before. It must be a different formular used as it has never been like this before.

I used P20 about 8 years ago for all the family when abroad and it was excellent. I have just purchased P20 spf10 recently and it is not the same as the original formula. It is sticky and has stained and ruined a pair of expensive white trousers. Really disappointed with it and have recommended P20 to others but will no longer recommend it or buy it!

I have fair skin and easily burn. Over years of holidaying I have used every sun cream, high factors and often applying and yet still burn. I was very wary about using this lotion once a day and I could not believe it, not once did I burn and I was in and out the pool and never thought twice about reapplying. I even got a brilliant tan! Def recommend this!!

“All Day Sun Protection”

written by on 21/12/2012

I recently used P20 Factor 20, I applied it myself to my legs and arms, then to my husbands back. I suffered a violent reaction on my hands, I was left with red bumps, which were so painful, both hands felt as if they were on fire, and my skin felt really thin, a week later I have the remains of the blisters as evidence and hard callouses as if I have been burned. I was in Grenada and managed to get some cortisone cream from the pharmacy, which did certainly calm it down. I will never buy this product again.

Omg the exact same thing happened to me. I thought it was because I seem to have a lot of allergies, but clearly I'm not the only one to react. I don't usually do patch tests over 48 hours like they tell you to, but my husband suggested I do cause the lotion goes over a large area of skin. I rubbed in the lotion on the back of my hand and initially just felt a slight burn and itch which seemed to ease. Twenty four hours later I woke to find large chemical type burns over the area I rubbed the lotion on. I must have rubbed the skin off of the blisters when I washed first thing and the result is a number of very sore and hot scabs, which are unbelievably sore to touch and when I move my hand. It scares me to think what could have happened if I had used the lotion over the rest of my body.

“What's happened to P20?”

★☆☆☆☆

written by mj73 on 11/08/2012

I am so disappointed. After years of using P20 and singing it's praises to everyone I will never use it again. Used it on holiday this year, hadn't been abroad for a couple of years so was unaware that the formula had changed and boy has it changed. Left a really oily film on skin, whereas previously it left no residue on skin after application. It's stained all our light clothes to the point that I have had to throw all the white items away as it's totally ruined them. This was never a problem when using it before. But the reason I've rated it so terribly is because WE BURNED! Having been a veteran user of p20, we knew exactly how to apply it and the products to avoid using that impair its effectiveness. I WILL NEVER EVER USE IT AGAIN AND WILL NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE, IF ANYTHING I WILL GO OUT OF MY WAY TO TELL PEOPLE TO AVOID IT AT ALL COST!

I used this years ago and found it very good even in the heat of August in Tenerife, so when i was going to New Zealand I decided to try it there> I was doubtful that it would work as well there as there is little ozone rotection but it worked every bit as well and I didn't burn once! I did notice that it was more oily than previously but did eventually dry off. I would use it again and recommend it but there is the slight drawback of white items getting marked but it wasn't too bad.

“Riemann P20 stained our swimming pool”

★☆☆☆☆

written by eddieF322 on 14/07/2012

Recent visitore used Riemann P20 sun cream every day, and swam in our chlorinated pool, which has a white-painted wall which runs up asnd over to provide a white outline about a foot wide around the pool. From day 2, the waterline was stained a brown/yellow colour, and this required vigorous scrubbing to remove. This had to be done every day, to the point where we basgan to become concerned about the paint thinning. Immediately our visitors departed, the problem ceased. Riemann's website says to avoid using chlorine on clothes exposed to P20, but says nothing about chlorine washing the cream off, as we have found daily over a 2-week period. Riemann's product and chlorine do not mix, so the product is not suitable for use in chlorinated pools in my opinion, as it appears to wassh off, thus reducing protection to the person, and causing a mess for pool owners to clear up.

“Do Not Use”

written by Andydandelion on 13/06/2012

Just came back from a week in Turkey with a case full of stained clothes. We have used P20 in the past but this year found clothing stained easily, also bedding and towells. I still have stains on my hands and fingernails. I would not recommend anyone to use this if you want to wear light coloured clothing, buy an alternative.

“Goodbye Old Friend”

★☆☆☆☆

written by DoraSybil on 09/06/2012

My husband and I have used P20 for 15 years, we sang its praises to all who would listen. Two years ago Riemann changed the P20 formula our holiday in 2010 was spoiled by P20 we were burning and couldn't understand why,we were old hands with this product? the products texture was changed, it was sticky and very stong odour which takes your breath away, I had written to Reimann pre holiday as I couldn't remember what to avoid ie. the ingredient in moisturisers which had previously stopped P20 from working which was Silicone, the reply was as follows: [The main reason for changing our original formulation is the recommendations of the EU Commission for sun protections products like P20 to contain a UVA filter besides the UVB filter(s). Our old formulation did not have UVA protection as does our new formulation. The new P20 formula can be used in combination with silicone (Dimethicone) without any problems (e.g. shampoos, conditioners and shower gels). You are also able to use your daily moisturizer 15 minutes after application of the new P20 formulation. All you have to remember is to make sure that the P20 is completely dry before applying the moisturizer.] But it never really 'dries' it leaves a film on your skin, the following year we used another once a day brand which although efficient was thick and creamy and we were not happy with the texture at all, this year we decided to give P20 another go, there was an offer at the Airport we bought 400ml, once again it let us down so that's it! no more! we will have to find another brand. If anyone from Reimann reads this please give us the choice of having a UVA filter and bring back the old formula of just UVB filter/s

I have bought Riemann p20 for my holidays. I am going to be away for 10 days, would you say a 100ml bottle would be enough or will I have to get the 200ml?

“Fantastic product, needs careful application”

★★★★★

written by lojolondon on 06/08/2011

This is the best sun protection there is. I am from South Africa and have used it for at least 15 years, maybe more. Nothing protects like P20 Riemann. Because it is a single-application system, be careful when you apply it because if you miss a spot you will know all about it - there will be a bright red area between all the protected areas and then you will know how good this product is! I recommend it to all my friends. It is widely used in South Africa, especially by lifeguards, farmers etc. Note that it smells lousy, a bit like thinners, but the smell soon fades.

Smothered myself in P10 having never used it before as I wasn't sure how much you're supposed to use. Still got burnt all over. Previously used nivea factor 10 with no problems. I also found when applying P10 that it stings the skin in some areas, especially if you get it on your lips. And if you get it in your eyes (ie from sweating) it was total agony. It also stinks. WOuldn't recommend it at all. Waste of 16 euros.

Try P20 first and read the instructions on how much to apply. Been using p20 for years, its better than any other product on the market so long as you use it correctly!

Love this stuff, I live in Australia and in the summer I apply it once a day go out in the sun, in and out of the pool, on the beach and in the sea. I can honestly say I have never burnt nor gone red after exposure to the sun when wearing this product. My teenage daughter has fair skin and she too uses P20 and does not burn nor go red in the sun. It's brilliant and I will never use any other sun product. You still tan and don't burn, one application and your set for the day. Top product!!!

“I first heard about Reimann's P20 about 10 years ago...”

written by k9q on 18/01/2011

I first heard about Reimann's P20 about 10 years ago from a fellow sun-bather in Lanzarotte. He had had skin cancer and been advised by his Doctor to use this stuff. I thought he was pushing his luck a bit still sun-bathing! -However I tried it and forked out £20 for a 200ml bottle - a bit steep, I thought, but it spread so well you do not need as much as you would of other lotions. I've used it ever since. I have just bought a bottle for my 2011 hols in Cyprus and cannot believe it. Sainsbury sells the 200ml bottle for £20 and the 100ml bottle for £3.25 -yes £3.25..... I'm going back tomorrow to buy their entire stock.
A word of warning, though. Put it on half an hour before you go out. Once it has dried you really can stay in the sun all day and it doesn't wash off in the pool, but if you miss one square inch of your bald spot, your ear-lobes or the backs of your calves you will be sorry! - it gives you a false sense of security -Be warned!

“I have used P20 for 10 years now and have not burnt...”

★★★★★

written by on 20/09/2010

I have used P20 for 10 years now and have not burnt once. I am really fair skinned and burn really easily - I wouldn't use another sun product now! I have used the same sun protection on my fair skinned daughter since birth, and she has never burnt in her 10 years either.
Application has to be thorough and you must allow time for the product to dry on your skin - if it's still wet it'll wash off. Skin does feel tacky afterwards, but this is a small inconvenience to put up with versus the prospect of being burnt.
I do regularly recommend this product to friends and nobody has ever been disappointed. The product may cost a lot, but as you only need apply once a day - even if you are a water baby like my daughter who will spend 90% of her holiday in the pool - it soon proves to be a convenient bargain.

“I first started to use this product twenty years ago...”

★★★★★

written by on 16/08/2010

I first started to use this product twenty years ago when my friend had 4 small blonde haired boys. They never burned whilst using P20. However, I could never go abroad at that time because I got 'prickly heat' very badly and the doctors told me this was because all the sun creams I had used sealed the sweat inside and this was what made me itch, not the actual sun. I tried P20 which could only be bought at the airport at that time and the prickly heat was nearly none existant and so I used it until just recently and the prickly heat went away for all those years. However, once the 'new formula' came in last year, the first time I used it I got prickly heat again. I can tell that the formula is different because it is 'thicker' when applying. I still applied it one hour before going into the sun to make sure it had 'soaked in'. I would still recommend the 'new formula' to stop sunburn, but if you suffer from 'prickly heat' I am afraid this is not the product for you. If anyone knows why this is the case, maybe you could let us know as I have not been able to contact Reimann.

“I was really disappointed with this. I have fair skin...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by cat76 on 11/08/2010

I was really disappointed with this. I have fair skin that burns easily and the thought of being free from almost constant reapplication of cream really appealed to me. I tried this out on holiday in Greece a couple of times and I burned badly. Not sure if this is because I didn't apply properly or it just wasn't a high enough factor. Application is tricky as you basically have to apply it all over and wait around naked for 10-15 mins for it to dry - which is fine if you're on holiday with a partner but if you're with a friend like I was, she probably saw more of me than she needed to! It's a bit like the alcohol hand gel you get in texture but I have to say, it did make me feel very hot and sweaty initially, like my skin couldn't breathe. It also badly stained my towel - sort of a luminous yellow colour. Based on my experience, I wouldn't use again or recommend to anyone else.

“I have been using P20 for six years, and have also...”

★★★★★

written by on 20/07/2010

I have been using P20 for six years, and have also always used it on the kids (even when they were very young) and it is quite simply the only product you need.
Anyone who has burnt using this product has simply not used it properly, as we have been away over twenty times and have never burnt, despite being in and out of the sea/pool, running around or just lying on a towel by the pool. This includes 40 degrees plus in USA, Caribbean, etc. My son is very fair skinned and he gets on fine.
Yes it smells a bit and can stain your clothes immediately after application, but after 20 minutes it is absorbed into the skin and unless youn sweat profusely it won't stain after that. Lying around on a towel has no effect as once the product is absorbed it will stay there.
It really is all we ever need, stick it on first thing in the morning and 10 hours later it is still working. A brilliant product that we tell everyone about wherever we go.
We still can't believe that none of the other major suncare companies haven't copied this product.
