I succumbed to 2 highly opportunistic business practices operated by this bunch who must be making a killing. Firstly in the very small print was an insurance excess of 1,000 euros - in my book that isn't insurance at all. And guess what, truly exorbitant rates for damage waiver. Secondly, return with empty - well we couldn't do that as we didn't do enough miles. We collected from Pisa Airport in July 2014 for family holiday. Never again!

“I booked a Ford C Max through Easycar from Malaga...”

I booked a Ford C Max through Easycar from Malaga airport for nine days at a cost of €66. When I arrived, the company providing the rental, Record Go, did not take debit cards for the deposit and so I had to pay an additional €9 per day in addition to a handling charge of €23.99. In addition my card was charged €80.58 for fuel in case I did not bring the car back with a full tank. This was subsequently refunded to my car but I was charged to convert from GBP to Euros and back again and so lost roughly 10% on the transaction. This brought the total cost of hire to €183.84. The car itself was in tatters with dents and scratches all over it. It had done nearly 60,000 km and had a funny noise from the back axel. The parcel shelf in the boot was broken in two and there was no rear windscreen wiper. I strongly recommend that no one else is duped in to thinking that there will be no other charges, because there are and they are large

“Be carefull, ”

Please be carefull with those guys, after canceling the car I booked through them, they issued charged be with the full amount of money I have paid for the reservation on the first place and declare it as a cancellation fee.. Isn't it a steal or what?

“Beware!, Beware!, Beware - DO NOT CONSIDER EASYCAR ”

Cannot possible recommend this company. We were certain that we had all eventualities covered when booking our car for our u k holiday. We're taken by surprise when we got to the Alamo desk to find that we then had to purchase extra insurance to cover us fully. Easycar totally mislead you into thinking that you are covered. I will say I did not fully read all the terms and conditions, so I am asking you to ensure you are fully aware of the limited cover you are obtaining when purchasing their refund policy. Would never consider using them again.

“Don't use easy car!!”

We booked our hire car through easy car, and paid online, when we picked our car up at faro airport we got charged £290 extra for no reason, we only found this out by looking at our bank statement when we had returned from our holiday! Would not recommend what so ever!

The company refused to refund the payment even though did not provide me with a service at the rent station. I did not get the car from them but payment was taken. They play the hiden terms and conditions with. Will never ever deal with easycar who are renting from other companys, such as HErtz in my case - the worst experience ever and a total loss of 250 Euro.

“If you need an extra driver be aware they charge”

Arrived at Hertz to pick up car, had 2nd driver which was on confirmation, they claimed they new nothing about easycar, they would charge over 100 for another driver. Confirmation said 157.50 Hertz said they took 142.00 and the extra driver which was on the confirmation was not included. Used easycar before with Europcar and the extra driver wasn't a problem! Customer service agent was beyond rude and the call centre was useless.

“DO NOT hire from EasyCar, they add NO value”

After spending some time pumping in my details to the Easy Car website, I was given a "total car hire price" from Easy Car of around £68. My first grievance was that Easy Car did not inform me of what car hire company I was purchasing until after I had clicked to confirm purchase. This is completely not acceptable as a consumer I should be informed of who I am buying from. After purchase my email confirmation told me that the car hire firm was Fire Fly, A firm that has received much negative reviews from previous customers on online car forums. Yet Easy Car still choose to supply its customers with Fire Fly, and fail to notify customers like myself of the car hire company they are being sold until after purchase. On Easy Car's website I was encouraged to buy an insurance package from Easy Car, trusting in the Easy Car Brand. Due to a mix up with Fire Fly Car Rental at Malaga Airport they did not accept our Credit Card. So we were told by Fire Fly that unless we took their car insurance, we would not be able to hire the car that we had already paid for through Easy Car. So naturally I no longer needed the Easy Car / Zenith Car insurance package. I went to call Easy Car / Zenith insurance to cancel the package, however EasyCar had only provided a email address. Easy Car CS representative told me that they could not refund my car insurance, even through I would not be using it. The representative was most unhelpful, stating "can totally sympathise with your situation" but could not help in providing me with a refund for the Easy Car / Zenith Car insurance. Firefly then added on considerably more charges at the airport so Easycars total price was nowhere near £68. The total price ended up paying for 7 days was £170. Easycar behavior was disgraceful! They were not even prepared to offer a partial refund!

“No guaranty. Get your car damaged!”

I have rented my car 5 times on this website. The first 3 times I had no problem… Then I had a woman who had an accident with it and declare it to me. However when I contacted easy car they didn't want to use the insurance as they mention that the car was not covered for mechanical damage. I had to argue(battle of emails) that it was an accident and its only 10 days later (I had to use train and taxis) that they came to collect my car and offered me a car replacement. It took 10 days for the garage to fix my car. I recently had an other problem with dishonest person that time who gave me back my car with no freeze,discs and pads completely worn. She parked my car in a restricted area and i got a parking ticket… All she said was your car needs servicing. i took my car to the garage who said that the car must have been driven with the hand brake on. When i contacted the customer services they took one day to respond and they said that my car was 10 years old and there is no evidence that my car was driven with the brakes on. I am arguing and asking for a phone call for 4 days but still waiting. Do certainly not rent a car who is worth more than 3000 pounds and try to only rent to experienced user and driver with reviews. Because if something happens its all your responsibility.

We rented from FireFly at Lyon Airport via EasyCar last February; we drove the car from the airport to our destination, where it was parked for 9 days, then drove it back. There was not a crumb in that car yet we were charged for "specialised cleaning". Neither FireFly nor EasyCar were in any way helpful in dealing with our complaint. Also we were overcharged for fuel. Will not rent via EasyCar again.

“Complete rip off do not hire from easycar in MALTA”

Car not fit for the road air conditioning did not work only one head light car had 100.000 miles on the clock front wheel bearing gone no windscreen washers said they would replace GOLDCAR / GREEN MOTION but never did no answer on SOS phone number insurance a joke paid for full cover on there website with easycar when collecting car in Malta airport told by hire desk you will have to pay again for collision waver insurance 1500 euro deposit or 10 euro a day as we do not accept easycar zenith insurance. Green Motion hire desk now closed you have to use Goldcar hire desk fuel is a rip off. EASYCAR.COM complaints not interested getting refund thou credit card company. Absolute rubbish not cheap as web site makes out add treble to amount if you hire from them.

“Car owners - Do not lend your car to this dreadful...”

I rented our my brand new car to these people to hire out and have nothing to show for it except a dented car. The company falsified claims of a £100000 cover was just an advertising gimmick. I have been with them for about a year now and have gotten plenty of scrapes and scratches. After the first attempt to get these fixed and the consequent hassle, I got myself an extra service to fix scratches. But then the car came back with a DENT and after TWO WEEKS of calling insurance company associated with easy car, I find that the file has been closed without my knowledge. Furthermore the insurance company informs me that easycar initiated the closure!! When called easy car, they say that since the renter denies it, there's nothing they can do!!!! Steer COMPLETELY clear of them if you want to save your pride and joy. Fixing the damage causes way more than could be earned! Completely fraudulent company!!! I hope they go bankrupt soon!!!

“DO NOT HIRE CARS THROUGH EASYJET”

I have just tried to cancel a car hired through easyjet ( booked at the same time as the flight booking), the cancellation was a week before the hire date. The car hire company wont do it - they refer you to Easyjet. Easyjet took a cancellation charge of £45 on a hire of £51. We know that you cant get a refund on an Easyjet flight - thats part of the Easyjet deal, but in future I will book any car hire directly with a car hire company. Anyone had a similar experience with Hotels?

“insurance rip off”

I wish I had read these reviews before I rented a car off easyjet I hired a car with them for collection at Bordeaux airport I paid for maxi insurance up front this was the highest insurance on offer when I got to the europcar desk I was asked if I wanted maxi insurance I told the man that I had already paid for it he laughed at me and said that easyjet were wrong to charge me and told me that I had to pay them extra this cost me 3 euros a day axtra when I arrived home I complained to easyjet who told me to take it up with europcar although I paid them for the hire seven months in advance with flights never again lesson learnt the hard way for me

“Not even worth 1 star”

We were told on booking our hire car online that this insurance would give us complete peace of mind and this would be all we require for car insurance and for hiring a car in Italy - this was wrong. When we arrived it was a very different story. Goldcar said that the waiver insurance was totally irrelevant in Italy and we were forced to pay 313 euro on arrival. This was made up of a full tank of fuel the service charge for the fuel (included in the small print) and 150 euro full comprehensive insurance (this was the surprise) that we were not told about anywhere on the contract as the website led us to believe that we werer covered for every eventuality. Goldcar laughed at us in the end and told us that we had to go back to Easycar for a refund as we had been mi-sold the waiver insurance.

I made a reservation on their website for the day 12/11/2013, on the day I called their partener and was told that they were not able to provide a vehicle for me. I had to spend snother two hours to look around for a car rental and paid much higher price. Of course the original reservation was cancelled. On the 15th November I emailed them requesting refund, was told that it was going to take 21 working days to confirm with their partener and then issue me a refund. On the 10th January 2014, I sent another email to chase, no response Called them at the beginning of Feb, promised it was going to be treated as "high priority", no further response Emailed on the 23th February and threatened to get refund via card issuer and write bad reviews, they came back to me saying on the parteners system , the booking was showing "cancelled".refused to refund.

“Complete Rip off .”

We picked our EasyCar hire car Up from Firefly at Alicante airport. I told the lady who served me at Firefly I DID NOT want any additional insurance cover or car upgrade. She pointed out on the paper work that I must return the car empty of fuel,the number to ring if we broke down and to JUST SIGN HERE. This I did. In a badly lit office on a multi storey car park floor with many people squashed in trying to collect and return cars you are hurried along with NO time to read all the paper work. I can now see why Firefly do this, its clearly a way to take money from holiday makers who are relaxed on a daily basis. This must be a huge amount of money obtained under false pretences. We ended up paying 3 times the amount we had agreed to. A tank of fuel was charged at 103 euros. I complained to Easycar who just who refused to do any thing. Will never use again.

“Rip off”

You know, when you go into a shop and pick up a tin of beans and it has 50 pence on it you expect to pay that !?!? You get to the till and it's three times more !?!? They have Added £30 worth of fuel ( which I discover later after running it to empty and filling it with £30 it's a lot more ) They wanted £1500 deposits against accident against my credit card !!!! I did not have the available credit !!!! But for a extra £70 I could down grade it to £500 ....so by now what I thought was going to cost me £80 was nearly £200 The women at Luton airport was rude and just wanted to go home The car park was miles away from the airport and badly lit to check the car ! I did a comparison with enterprise car rental and it would have been £85 cheaper and more professional I also know hertz would have been cheaper And the new car 2013 reg was all bashed Never never again ....
