I booked an Audi A3 convertible through easycar.com on 1st May to pick up in Naples on 19th May but when the confirmation email came it said awaiting availability confirmation from Budget the supplier. Initially a note said I would get confirmation by the 4th May, then the 5th and then no date. I thought I had best ring today and was told the car was not available and would I like to choose a different car. Terrible service from Easycar and I would not recommend.

first of all once you book with full protection the story at the counter is different. the charged me additional EUR 238,69 and I was advised that EUR88 will be returned. Upon return only EUR 71 were to be refunded and not 88 as advised. GPS given was in German so I got lost on the way back so I was 45 minutes late and I was charger EUR 45 plus 9 Euros for petrol when I filled it up just outside the airport. I called them and of course please fill the complaint online. such a horrible customer service

DO NOT USE!! We did not clean the car at the end of the weekend but left it in a good condition and got charged £150 for cleaning including admin fee from easy car club!! If you hire from air bnb you are not expected to scrub the place clean after your visit. This will not work if it treats its customers so poorly when hiring the vehicle.

i hired a car from the glasgow office. they didnt give me the car i had arranged supposedly they had upgraded my car. we did the check of body work and then the office boy had to take it away to pump up the tyre! not long after setting off on my 5 hour journey the sensors stated that the tyre pressure was low. i got to my destination thankfully. i needed to call out the AA who stated that the car should not have been dispatched as the secondary tyre in the car is not the correct one for long distances. I complained that they sent me out in a faulty car. Initially i was offered compensation but then i was offered a discount if i ever needed to use easycar again- as if i would ever use them again!

To calculate the real total cost of the rental we were supposed to go into the general terms, find the rest of the cost, and add it to the initial cost presented on the reservation page ? These additional costs should have been added right away to the total on the booking page, or at the very least visible on that page without having to search for it in another link. The way this company's offer was presented is misleading and constructed so as to look cheaper than other providers, who don't use this trick. This fraudulous presentation induced us to choose your company over the others. carigami.com is much more honest...

Hired a car via Easy Cars in July 2016 and elected Drivalia Car Hire in Alicante, Spain. Purchased full protection insurance from Easy Car. Arrived to pick up car and had hard sell from staff at Drivalia for extra insurance. Declined the extra cost. Staff member was miffed at this but not as miffed as I was when they charged over 90 Euros for fuel. Made sure the car was returned very, very, empty on fuel. So empty it was running on fresh air ! Anyhow, the day before car was due to be returned hubby hit a post and caused a reflector light to break and some minor scratches. Were charged by Drivalia for the damage and paid by credit card. Contacted Easy Car, submitted photos of the damage to the car taken when the damage occurred and the invoice for the amount paid by credit card to Drivalia. Within few weeks my credit card was refunded by Easy Car with no stress or any quibbling. As can be observed, paying for additional full protection insurance with Easy Cars paid off as Drivalia wanted some 350 Euros for something that hubby could have rectified for a few pounds.

We hired a family sized car for our holiday in Cyprus this year, made sure it was big enough for 5 as our children are as tall as us! Never had a problem in all the years we have been travelling to Larnaca. Upon going to the Europcar desk we were informed that the largest car is a Nissan Note not a Ford Focus! slight difference in boot size etc..... thank goodness we only had hand luggage we would never have fitted a suitcase in the boot. We had purchased full insurance as well when booking and the paperwork specifically mentioned that we did not need to purchase anything else to cover us, but no we had to pay yet more money as we were specifically told that if we had an accident or any damage or even any problems at all they would not come out to us or cover us for anything unless we purchased their insurance. So all in all do not book you rental car through easycar.com or Europcar, it is a ripoff. Have emailed and complained and have received a small refund, doesn't cover what it cost us and have received no explanation either. We were not the only ones with this issue out there, general feeling was someone was on commission!

booked through easy car for Malaga, was then through record go - no customer service skills at all, wanted 2000.00 deposit or 150.00 extra for more insurance and then 64.00 for petrol, car was not ready, had to wait!! went back to ask again, where was car and a security guard stood over us and said join the queue again !! the queue had 15 people in it- we were then faced with a very rude and sarcastic little Spanish lady who then laughed at us. The car was ok, but would never use this company again

So many problems for just one car, I can even believe its possible. 1. Problem 1- we did not get the car category we booked. We did not get a mail stating we needed two credit cards from the person who where driving. It did not help that I, his wife had two (therefore we had 3 credit cards) This resulted in we had way to little space and it was not a good comfortable car. We started our Holyday by discussing over 3 hours with Hertz, who where not willing at all to help us as we had used Easy car. Problem 2. The don’t answer the phone when you call. The next day when I tried calling easy car, but gave up after long. Time in the queue. I tried 4 times without luck. Problem 3. Not willing to correct them problem. I send an mail of my problem asking them to fix it, they just replied use the car you where given and try to contact customer service when you get back. Problem 4: The online booking does not work so I can send a complaint using my booking reference. Therefor I thought I use a few minutes to warn others. Only book directly through the car rental, its much safer, and the customer service can impossible be any worse the what we experienced through Easycar! The conclusion is : the trouble using booking sites as Easycar is that the rental agency (in our case Hertz) cannot or will not change booking or do anything to help you. And as Easycar do not have a customer service who helped me it was pretty hopeless!

My experience is that the amount you pay online to easyCar does not reflect the final amount that you will pay for the vehicle. I don't feel that this is made clear when ordering online. Regardless of the insurance you take out on booking you will be pushed to take out a more expensive insurance policy at the collection point and/or asked to put a refundable excess payment of around £1,000 as a block on your credit card. THEN you will have to pay for a tank of fuel at a premium rate and you are charged for the full tank regardless of the amount you use. Expect the actual costs to be 5 or 10 times the advertised price. I would not recommend this company

We rented via EasyCar and received a rental through GoldCar in Italy. Then the charges started...I feel like I should have never given them my credit card number. After cross border fees and other non-sense fees not included in the rental price the final insult was a EUR 40 charge for "non-full tank return" despite the fact we returned it full as confirmed by the attendant. Neither GoldCar nor EasyCar would provide any details...it was just outright taking. The car itself was really beat-up...luckily we made sure to have every little scratch documented before taking the car. I am sure they would have tried to charge us for that as well. Anyhow, live and learn...go with a reputable car company. These people and their partners do not deserve your business.

The set us is simple, you hire the car at a fair cost from Easycar - they sub the hire and ALL RESPONSIBILITY - but... collect it and you MUST pay a refueling cost - well no, I will return full, thats fine so you miss the twice the tank cost rip off for them fueling it, but the refueling cost stands regardless if you fill it or not. (approx euros 30.00) So refueling cost it is not - rip off it is !!

Submitted application to join as a Driver with all required information including DVLA check code. Heard nothing for three days, even though website states you will be contacted within one working day, so contacted Customer Services only to be told, initially, that the DVLA check code had not been submitted with my application. When I challenged this I was then told that the code submitted was incorrect. Asked when I was going to be notified of this and was advised that I wouldn't be. So I'm expected to just magically know that my application has been rejected! At this point I had an inkling what sort of company I was dealing with so wrote complaint asking for my application to be cancelled and all my personal data removed from the EasyCar Club system and that I should be notified once complete. Heard nothing for 5 days and called Customer Services number only to speak with the same lady I spoke with last time (seems to be only one person on the phones). Asked about my complaint and was told it had been deleted and that she didn't understand why I was calling to check this had been done. Advised I had explicitly asked to be contacted when my account had been deleted and realised at this point I was wasting my time talking to this person. Advised I would be escalated to Head Office. Not surprised that the average rating for EasyCar Club is 1 star! An outfit that I would stay well away from. I will update this review once I have heard back from Head Office and the FOS.

My husband and I decided to hire a car for our holiday in Italy in July this year. We found Easy car on line and decided to go with them and took out extra insurance with them to be safe. Happy days we thought all sorted. We arrived in Italy and inquired at information desk at airport to find out where we needed to go to get car, lady at car hire (smile) was not very helpful whats so ever she stated that the contract we had with easy car was not with them and we could not take care unless we took out more insurance with them she wanted to hold 800euro on our credit card by good luck there was a limit on our card so she couldn't do this ,we got car at last and thought easy car will sort this for us when we get home , well that was a joke they said there was no need for us to take our more insurance and our contract was with smile nothing they can do I asked them to refund us money we paid them as lady had said our contract with easy car was no good but easy car have refused. I would advise any one going on holiday to stay well away from easycar as they just out to make money they dont care about people Stay away from them lots of hidden extras

I rented a vehicle to be picked up at Lisbon Airport, Portugal on June 18th, with a vehicle return date of July 2nd. After paying for my rental, which included full insurance coverage, to EasyCar, I discover that my rental is actually being provided by a company called GoldCar. After finding the GoldCar desk at the Lisbon airport, my wife and I quickly discover that we have a 2.5 hour wait in a line filled with other customers who have also been waiting. Once at the counter, the clerk tried to up-sell me their insurance along with a road-side assistance plan, as well as a variety of other useless, but profitable to the rental company services. I was told that I would have to purchase their fuel plan and that I could simply return the vehicle with an empty fuel tank: this is nothing but something for which I paid 90 Euros for the fuel in a sub-compact vehicle. Then I was told that I needed to rent their toll-road transponder for 18 Euros and that "paying for road tolls was very complicated." I did purchase this since I had read elsewhere about the ViaVerde (the toll-road branch of the Portuguese Government which seems to be run by college drop-outs who wouldn't be able to successfully run a business that wasn't government subsidised, more on this later). After 2.5 hours, about 110 Euros for fuel and the toll-road transponder, and 1200 Euro deposit held on my credit card, I was handed the keys and documents for a VW Jetta which I was told was in the parking garage and that I should inspect the vehicle closely and note any damage on their form. I asked for more specific directions, but the idea of a simple map escaped everyone at the rental counter. After finding the vehicle and moving it from the dark parking space to a place in the parking garage with natural light, I carefully inspected the vehicle for damage, took numerous pictures of the damage (there were in excess of 100 scratches and minor dents). The seats were also stained, which I noted on the form, although there is no place to note interior damage. After returning to the original rental counter to drop off the damage record, I waited another 10 minutes. At this point I had spent well in excess of 3 hours trying to pick up the vehicle. The next two weeks of the rental were fine, the toll-road transponder worked as advertised to keep track of the tolls incurred. Returning the vehicle was uneventful and quick. I was told that my credit card would be charged the outstanding ViaVerde tolls. This part of the rental was exactly as advertised. However, approximately one week after returning home to Canada, I received an email from GoldCar telling me that they had not been successful in charging the road tolls to my credit card when they had tried. My credit card company had, wrongly, refused the charges they believed to be fraudulent. GoldCar did not even try to contact me - even though they recorded my address, phone number, and email address - to rectify this, they simply told me to contact ViaVerde directly to pay the outstanding tolls. GoldCar gets a colossal "FAIL". After contacting ViaVerde by telephone, I was told by a very polite customer service agent that I needed to send them an email with the vehicle registration details and the rental period. I was assured that I would receive instructions on how to pay my outstanding tolls. The email was sent immediately as instructed. One week later I received an email from ViaVerde telling me that due to Privacy Protection laws in Portugal, they couldn't tell me what toll charges were outstanding, this information is only available to the registered owner of the vehicle: that would be GoldCar. However, I could go into a ViaVerde office to sort this out. Hmm, let me fly 10,000km so I can be told face-to-face that this information is protected by privacy laws. ViaVerde gets a massive "FAIL". In frustration, I contacted EasyCar, the company from which I had originally purchased the rental. I asked them to help me in dealing with their sub-contractor, GoldCar, to sort this out. Instead of receiving any kind of support, the EasyCar customer service kept repeating they couldn't get the information regarding the tolls because of Information Privacy laws. I kept telling them that I knew they couldn't get the information from ViaVerde, what I needed was their support in dealing with the incompetent sub-contractor: GoldCar. After three email exchanges, all EasyCar insisted was that I needed to deal directly with GoldCar. EasyCar gets a, similarly, colossal "FAIL". The saga continues. I suspect that at some point I expect I will receive a bill for the tolls, fines for not paying on time, and some non-sense processing fee for sending me the bill. I drove approximately 1000 kms on this trip, not all of which was on toll roads. The tolls should not exceed 90 Euros. I do know that failing to pay tolls within 96 hours (and they're not available within 48 hours of being incurred) is a 125 Euro fine. The processing fee from GoldCar, EasyCar's subcontractor, could be just about anything. All I can say is beware! I did everything correctly and still got taken in!!!!!

Having booked 2 cars for our holiday in Spain, we were booked with 2 different companies, not really a problem just wasted 3 hours of our valuable holiday, my company Drivala was based off the airport, not a problem in fact better than our son who had to queue for over an hour for his vehicle! Advised to take out insurance in England as it's cheaper, took out the insurance, both companies refused to accept the English cover, just said not valid in Spain, paid out 123 euros + vat @ 21% for insurance, our son had to pay 197 euros, both of us had to pay for a full tank of petrol, ours was 38 Euros + 21% vat its cheaper, his has now added £142 to our car hire, we were told by Drivala, just bring the car back there is nothing else to pay, when the vehicle was returned almost empty, they told us we had to pay for a tank of petrol, suggesting we drive to a local garage just 5 minutes away 'would be cheaper', we had to pay an additional 51 euros for the tank to be filled, we have now had to pay for 2 tankfuls! Cost of car hire has almost been trebled. Contacted Easycar and told them that Drivala refused to accept their insurance, told we would be reimbursed the English cover when we got home. Sent Easycar an E-mail on our return with our complaint, received an E-mail back saying they would look into our complaint and get back to us, this would normally take 7 days, after about 10 days sent a further E-mail requesting urgent attention before putting a review on the internet, as we have not heard anything, I feel that others should be advised about the poor service and the lack of concern by Easycar. they took our money and to be honest they have been given every chance to redeem themselves and we feel that they have our money and now they just don't care. I would still welcome Easycar to at least have the decency to reply!

Terrible. Paid for three days but easycar only gave us two with the hire company so we ended up paying £64 more. Tried to contact them twice with no reply. Terrible company, would never use again.

We hired a car for a few days in Tenerfife attracted by the apparently cheap price. Infact, the contract is very confusing and eventually we paid more than other car companies, expecially because they extra charge your fuel. To avoid, you better go to more established car rental companies.
