“Incompetant”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Cochranews1983 on 29/10/2016

This is by far the worst company to deal with bar none! They don't care and will manipulate any situation their customers are the last thing on their list of priorities. Every review is negative why isn't someone doing something about them!

“Worst energy company ever, AVOID”

★☆☆☆☆

written by CaydenMcIntosh on 14/10/2016

The most useless customer services ever. Will blatantly lie to get you off the phone. Will attempt to avoid compliance with General Standards of service. They left a house with a small child first with no gas and then no electric through their own fault and failed to fix it. 5 engineers missed appointments even when confirmed multiple times

“Simply a terrible, incompetent business”

★☆☆☆☆

written by andrewjamesprice on 31/08/2016

After a year and a half of trying to resolve a bill discrepancy, I finally gave in to Npower and paid an incorrect bill. I asked for the situation to be escalated, which they never did - They took the wrong meter reading for a different house and tried to charge me for nearly three times the amount we eventually settled on! How do you make such a colossal mistake like that? After approximately 30 calls (which I had to make to them) and generic, threatening letters in the post, I finally had to give in due to their incompetence. They are the worst, most revolting company I have ever had the displeasure to be involved with. I will never ever use them again and I cannot stress enough for anyone reading this, to take your custom elsewhere. I'm now using Spark who are fantastic all round.

“Worst utilities supplier I've ever dealt with”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 22/08/2016

Npower were my supplier at my last address and quoted me £120 per month for both my gas and electric supply. I paid the amount I was quoted but received no bill for twelve months due to their systems being down. Finally receiving a bill twelve months later I was devastated to realise that they had billed me an extra £1300 on top of what they had quoted me. With a high usage of gas and electricity due to a severely disabled daughter I knew I would struggle to meet payments, which I did. Last year I had to move from that home to another,I informed Npower of my change of address but heard nothing until one month ago when I received a court enforcement notice saying bailiffs where coming to my home for the total amount of £2900. I immediately rang and tried to resolve the matter but with no luck. They have ignored my calls to look into the late billing and have now said I have to pay their solicitors fees or face bailiffs coming to my home which I am petrified of because of my daughter. So I have agreed to pay whatever they want me to pay because I fear they will come to my door. All this was taken to court without my knowledge ,the case was heard without my knowledge and I have no court papers at all because the paperwork went to my old address. I have been hounded by phone calls and their solicitors and have been shown no help what so ever. I have had sleepless nights for four weeks and feel physically sick. I would never ever recommend this company to anyone and if I could give a minus star review I would. Absolute torture.

“never ever deal with this company they should be shut down”

★☆☆☆☆

written by stamp812 on 01/08/2016

had a faulty meter for 18 months despite complaining repeatedly each mont nothing happened until the meter showed red which means it had ran itself out, they then said they could only offer me £75.oo despite me paying them £95.00 a month for months, they couldn't even organise someone to come and fit a meter on the day they said they were going to. I also had endless conversations with idiots who said one thing and did another on one occasion this conversation wasn't even recorded. when it was acknowledged they were wrong I was contacted by a member of the complaints team I agreed to close it simply because I was sick to death of dealing with them the following month they then charged me £95.00 again when it should have been £48.00 I have now left but trust me u will never deal with anyone as incompetent as n power how they are allowed to operate is beyond me

“NEVER USE THESE PEOPLE”

★☆☆☆☆

written by NPOWERHATER on 07/06/2016

we contacted npower to see if they ran our Gas, they said no even though we were paying them for our electric. then we had three big guys show up during the middle of the day that decided to slap the meter on while i was on the phone with Npower. spoke to 3 different people who all had different things to say. the guys then left not connecting our gas and have left us in the house without gas til thursday. There are children in the house which they couldn't care less about! then after another hour on the phone they charged us £76 to get someone to come out and supply us gas.... will be taking this a lot further! my advice is DO NOT USE Npower!

“2 years”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Jan1836 on 22/04/2016

We switched to Npower, simply because we could pay quarterly for the gas/electric we had actually used by direct debit. How wrong! Firstly the direct debit was set up by Npower in a account number no one could interpret yet alone the bank. But according to Npower this was our fault. Informed by Npower to cancel direct debit and start again. We still have no direct debit. Paid one correct bill by debit card, since then we have not had a correct bill. Totally overcharged and wrong tariffs. Must owe alot but after complaining to the Ombudsman we are still waiting for the account to be corrected. We refuse to pay anything until Npower have corrected all their mistakes and issued a correct bill. The paper work is pilling up and the total amount of phone calls is unbelievable. Npower is the worst company ever. The only good thing is the fact that we owe them. Cancel direct debits and make Npower put things right before paying them. Eventually, just maybe, Npower might start taking notice of their appalling customer service.

“Horribile and Cheater company”

★☆☆☆☆

written by xcCarver396 on 14/04/2016

Horribile and Cheater company..They charge you double for same electric and gas..I was trying to leave "npower" but they are raising objections without any reason. When made complain, manager in customer service make ojbections on the fly..Like my application for rejected on 8th of March 2016, all previous bills paid. The latest bill recieved on 3rd April 2016. The manager said there was outstanding balance on 8th of March 2016. I asked, how would I know there was outstanding balance. Would I see my bill in dream or an agel will tell me? You should have issued final bill then and I would have left. I was due to leave on 27th of December 2015 and after 4 and half months I am still with npower paying double price as comapared to Extra Engery that I am moving to. "npower is a cheater and trying to keep customer with them with cheap tactics

“Awful - their errors destroyed my credit rating”

★☆☆☆☆

written by JeremiahSullivan on 28/03/2016

Can't tell you how bad they are , incapable of getting the bill right, refunding me one minute saying I'm in debt the next. In the end their errors messed up my otherwise perfect credit rating and stopped the lease of a new car. They even gave me down as defaulting on my GAS bill when it's an oil fired property (no gas connection). Utterly incompetent, incapable of putting it right.

“Beyond a joke”

★☆☆☆☆

written by lucyunderwood on 09/03/2016

Initially decided to leave because one of their phone operators was giving me incorrect information and kept insisting I give them my credit card details. Ended up switching in mid-Jan. Npower decided to bill me for two subsequent months, and its only this week I have recevied my final bill which has been completely based on estimates. I kept calling them in the interim to hear they hadn't received any information from my energy supplier which is a complete fabrication since they get this from a 3rd party as part of the leaving process. Each time I contacted NPower they invented a new story and I still don't know when they will pay me back my outstanding amount. I made several complaints on their website but this doesn't do anything. You need to establish a complaint via the phone and make sure you get a complaint number. About 5 days later they texted me to say my complaint had now been resolved, even though it hadn't. I'm taking it all up with the Obmudsman but in the meantime I suggest looking elsewhere for your energy.

★☆☆☆☆

written by Mikejb1970 on 15/02/2016

Appalling customer service. New property supplied by Npower. Changed to another supplier. Entire process completely cocked up by muppets who contradict the script they are given every time you ring them. Told my new supplier a pack of lies on the phone and then denied having the conversation. Still waiting for it to be resolved.......I suspect the Middle east may have a better chance of being resolved then my final bill!! Apparently I have to give a rating. Would like to give Npower a big fat zero stars!!!

“liars thieves and robbers”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 20/12/2015

N Power = deceit, liars! They put me through 2 years of upping my bills from £52 per month to £94 per month! I found them out after my complaints and they have it on their records. I managed to get £180 credit back after they lied on the phone - one time they said one thing; another time they said something contradictory and they couldn't deny it! But the level of professional misconduct and lies they gave me was foul - and I would be very happy to see those liars go bust! Now with my current supplier - I am only paying £52 per month and still in credit! That was the second time I was with N Power - never again will I return to them! They were a company who first thought about themselves and their profits and fat pockets and lastly about their customers If they would think about their customers first and themselves further back, now they would not be in so much trouble! Worse to them - they have lost my respect and trust for life! I had to suffer more epileptic seizures fully because of their mistreatment! They didn't care anything - only their pockets and pay packets! Good riddance to bad rubbish! Of course - they haven't got the guts to apologise and earn respect back, have they?

“ROBBERS AND LIARS”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Sinclair185 on 11/12/2015

Moved into a new home recently and they were the suppliers. Called them to say I was not staying with them but moving to another company. I though all was okay and the change went ahead without a glitch but them I got a bill off them for the 3 weeks they supplied me. I could have heated Buckingham Palace for the amount they want and to add insult even though it says I have 3 weeks to pay it they have not stopped calling to demand payment. Told them to "F" off today as enough is enough. One bill says one amount, my online account (I never set one up but seem to have one) says another then I get another bill for another totally different amount and still the calls are coming in hourly from their collections department. After telling them I would report them for harassment if they carried on all they would say was I still hadn't paid them...that would be the 3 confusing over priced bills I received in the last 5 days...all with 3 weeks to pay written all over them!! May simply just avoid all further contact and refuse to pay anything, what can they do?...SOD ALL is the answer...not scared of the computer generated so called debt collection letters from companies that don't exist as they are part of their company. And if they do sell it on then tough luck on the idiot that buys it, they pay £1 for it and of you do stupidly have contact with them all you legally owe them is the £1 they paid..

Actually, this is just par for the course with this foul disorganisation - same story, moved house & contracted with a REPUTABLE supplier ASAP but npower wanting bills paid to them and believe they can claim from this address infinitum.
Ombudsman just a joke, even after npower's illegally fitting a prepayment meter without a Warrant & when I had been in contract with EBICO (UK's best rated supplier) for over a year.
Good Luck Sinclair.

“Avoid at all costs!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by The-Truth on 16/11/2015

Avoid at all costs! They may look cheaper but the amount of time & effort you will lose sorting out their problems is not worth it. Worst company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. Appalling level of customer service. Wanted one online account & to pay by DD & they failed miserably. I had to refer the matter to the Ombudsman which needless to say I won. The last correspondence I received was a bullying court letter stating that despite attempts to contact me I had not got back to them. This despite the numerous calls & emails to them just shows the level of incompetence at which they operate. Even after receiving letters from them confirming my complaints were being dealt with and they could not tell me what they were charging me for. Staff are useless. The management worst. Scored 1 star as I had to put something otherwise it would be nil. They should be closed down.

Useless and Incompetent

I have had an ongoing complaint with Npower since I left them over 4 years ago and took my business to Scottish Power. Someone didn't process my transfer properly and since then I have had sporadic bills from Npower, despite my energy provider now being Scottish Power.
Each time a bill has arrived, I've called Npower who have told me they'll sort it but it came to a head in May this year when I received a bill for over £2500. I sent a letter in and was assured it was being dealt with. I heard nothing further so assumed (wrongly) it had been finally sorted but noooo!! In August 2015, I received a revised bill, again for £2500+ so I wrote again. This time I threatened the Ombudsman and legal action. On Oct 5th I received yet another bill and was threatened with debt collection so I called and was assured they would put a hold on any further activity until the complaint was resolved. I have now received a debt collection letter advising that they are starting proceedings against me.
I have tried this evening to speak to the complaints team as they are now outside the SLA set by the Ombudsman but ended up on the phone for almost an hour, being passed from pillar to post and getting no further. In fact I lost my temper and swore at one of the agents who kept saying' I apologize' and who clearly wasn't sorry at all!
I have heard that the TV programme Watchdog was involved and as a result, the Ombudsman told Npower to clean up their act but clearly that fell on deaf ears!
I will be putting in an Ombudsman complaint, I will also be contacting Watchdog and if all that fails I will be seeking legal advice as I do not owe them any money - I have been paying my bills to my energy provider - Scottish Power (who I have never had an ounce of trouble from)!

I'm a student client of NPower during the last year. After closing my account a month ago with a credit of £560, they told me they will get it back to my account in a few days. I've messaged them several times about it because I haven't received my money back, and I haven't received an answer. What could I do? Thank you.

Npower were a absolute nightmare when I changed suppliers and tried to get my due refund last year. I found it was a total waste of time phoning and was fobbed off with all sorts of different excuses. In the end I managed to find these details to contact executive level complaints which got things moving once I threatened them with the Ombudsman. This was May 2013 but hopefully the email will still be the same. Good luck!

Hi, I recently left NPower because of their atrocious billing problems - well reported in the UK media. I too suffered the lack of communication and eventually voted with my feet. You may have to be patient, complaining to the toothless regulator will get you nowhere in my experience - even if they have strengthened their hand they are likely swamped with complaints. I would try embarrassing NPower (not sure that is possible) on social media, although I found it difficult to find customer complaints on Facebook (well hidden I suppose) although I am no Facebook expert. You could also try Twitter - I did see one conversation on there (I am not on Twitter) regarding help retrieving a cheque for someone - tag @npowerhelp. I'll be interested in hearing other solutions as I too have suffered at their hands. Good Luck, I really hope you get this solved - and quickly.

You need to call them and record the call, possibly on your mobile, use saynoto0870 to find a landline number for them. But keep calling them, and also invoice them for the phone calls and time you have spent trying to get this resolved. The key here is to keep at them and don't let them forget about you, but always ALWAYS be polite to whoever you speak to and explain clearly exactly what you want them to do. I know this is probably not what you wanted to hear but it's the best advice I can give having dealt with many useless customer service agents not just at Npower but at many different companies.

Complain to the Energy Ombudsman and let npower know. Alternatively put in a claim through the small claims court against npower, dint forget to add interest to the amount your are claiming as well as inconvenience and distress.
Report this content Fireplaces Written on: 15/07/2014
Hi, I would send them a recorded delivery letter, stating all the facts and stipulate that despte previous assurances you are still oustanding the amount due and therefore you will give them 14 days to refund in full or you will raise a claim in the small claims court and any incurred fees will also be recovered. I would also state that they should also forward an additional amount to hat owed to cover any lost interest and for all your costs and inconvenience. Good luck.
Report this content MrRee Written on: 15/07/2014
Give them 10 working days to refund your money - do this in writing to their HQ Address - say that you reserve the right to take legal action to have your money refunded. Check that you have all the evidence proving, beyond doubt, that they owe you the money and then take out a County Court Summons on them in your local Court. The claim will include your costs - they will refund you rather than attend Court. It's really simple to get justice, just follow the steps and make sure you have everything in place. Good luck!
