This mascara made my eyes also swell shut, itch and burn. It looks like both of my eyes have been burned underneath. I work in an Allergy medical office and will never recommend this product or use it again.

Great Lash: Blackest Black Mascara

THIS IS THE WORST MASCARA/ MAKE-UP PRODUCT THAT I HAVE EVER BOUGHT!

NB: I wanted to give it ZERO stars- but the site makes you tick at least one.

The brush is tiny with no curve: Eyelashes naturally curve upwards- WHY HAVE A STRAIGHT BRUSH? & Why is the brush so small?? It takes three times as long to use.

The straight brush (combined with the horrible wet mascara) results in blobs of mascara on my eye lid when I attempt to apply to the base of the lashes.

The mascara itself is too runny & wet. It takes forever to dry & if you blink or move before it's fully dry (approx 4mins) it smudges.

I could (just about) put up with all of the above faults, if this mascara actually looked good when I've gone through the hassle of applying it- BUT IT DOESN'T!! IT LOOKS COMPLETELY RUBBISH!!

My lashes look spindly; they lack curve and definition- I can barely notice any difference to my lashes before & after using (my eye lashes are naturally black)- apart from the random black smudges & the 10mins out of my life that it has taken me to put on, and clean up after.

After 2 weeks of trying to use this product- I've had enough: I'm 30 years old & I've never thrown away a make-up product because it was rubbish before- this will be a first!!

This mascara is the devil in disguise. It looks great on until it starts to make your eyes itch like crazy and puff out all over the place. I used it for the first time over the weekend both Friday and Saturday nights. By Sunday morning I was so miserably itchy and puffy. I feel truly sorry for anyone who had this same reaction. You're not alone.

The only reason i bought this was coz it looks pretty... oh and the fact it was voted australia's no. 1 mascara, dont really know where that statistic came from..?
Firstly it didnt really do much for my lashes at all. And secondly after a few hours it made my eyes itchy, watery, red and it stings so much! Pathetic attempt by maybelline!

Clinique's high impact mascara is great... a little expensive tho

I used this mascara for one week. I couldn't take if off with my normal face cleansing method. One week later I used baby oil to finally remove it all. Not only did all the clumps come out, but so did my the lashes bound to the clumps. The lashes that remain are shorter. I feel sick.

Worst Mascara EVER!! I've used a lot of different brands but never have experienced an allergic reaction till now. I can't even leave the house because I can hardly see, my eyes are that swollen and puffy.

I don't care if they give it away FREE, DON'T use it!

If they don't fix this mascara,I am never buying again.I have used this mascara for over 35 years and I am so disappionted in this product of late.Trust me,if I have used this product for so long I know they have done something to alter the way they are doing it .I wonder if maybe China is making it now?I can't even get mascara on the brush even when it is the first use.I am having to buy it every week now.Does anyone have a suggestion for a new product because this one is history?I am allergic to almost everything around my eyes and now when I use this product my eyes will burn.That is the reason I have always used the product because it suited my needs perfectly,but now it flakes in my eyes and burns,and my eye lashes are all messed up.Remember this is the GREAT LASH FROM MAYBELINE!!!!

I really don't understand all the positive reviews. I admit I occasionally had a tube of Maybelline Great Lash around to use as a cheap backup. But I switched to it exclusively for the last 4 months exclusively to save money. Never again. It clumps, it remains sticky/tacky throughout the entire day, and I cannot get it off. I've tried everything--face wipes, makeup removers, soap and water--and I still get lovely raccoon eyes in the morning. I've never had this with the other mascaras I've used (Clinique, L'Oreal mostly). I just switched to an only SLIGHTLY more expensive L'Oreal mascara again and had forgotten how nice it feels to have eyelashes that don't slowly form into spiders throughout the day and feel like glue when you touch them. Never again!

My mom introduced me to this mascara when i was a teenager, I never thought it was one of the "better" beauty products because it wasn't expensive. After spending tons of money on Benefit mascara I thought i'd retrieve this from my makeup bag just for kicks. It's better than "bad gal lash" for sure! It goesn't flake off of my eyelashes and it makes them incredibly long and full! I was so impressed that i wondered why i stopped using it in the first place! I love this mascara, but please use a good quality makeup remover when taking it off! i use the lancome one, thats the best

This product is crud! in fact everything i have ever bought from maybelline has done nothing but irratate and disappoint me. Its cheap, and is easy to apply. Unfortunately it comes off way too easily from your lashes. as the day goes on, this gunk runs down your face leaving you looking like a dipshit owl. Dollar tree sells better mascara than this! Covergirl, lacome, and revlon all create much better products. This mascara only makes your eyelashes darker. It does not create volume or length. Don't buy products from this company!

this was my first mascara to own, i was 13! I used to love it and the colour was soo nice and dark! Now ive noticed how good all the more expensive mascaras actually are compared to this one. I agree with the people that say that it smudges and clumps easily, (i thought all mascaras are like this), however it is easy to put on and as i have medium lenght lashes, it made mine look really long and full and black.

I bought this product for the first time this past weekend...thinking I would get a good product for the money...HOWEVER, little did I know it was going to cause my eyes to blow up like two balloons!!!!! My eyes began to itch and feel irritated the first day I wore the mascara and now my eyes have been swollen, burning and itching for 3 days now! I will NEVER buy this product again, and I will tell everyone I know to NEVER buy this product either! This mascara is TERRIBLE!

value for money...yes...and its easy to remove too...
it lengthens your lashes but the thing is it clumps and it in the end it looks as if there are just few lashes on your lids..and since its long..it gives the spidery look...
i think thats because of the brush..it doesnt separate the lashes it unites them..formula is ok..
but i guess thats wat you get for this price..

Hated Maybelline Great Lash Mascara and you definately get what you pay for! This is a cheap quality mascara that does absolutely nothing to define your eyes. I made the huge mistake of trying a cheaper mascara but have now gone back to buying the Diorshow mascara.

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara is great!

The Maybelline Great Lash Mascara brush is small, it's super-goopy and smudgey, and lasts about five minutes. A few sprinkles of light rain and that stuff is running down your face. I think that's why it's touted for the runway--it's very dark and those models only have to have it on a relatively short time.
That said, the waterproof Great Lash is a decent mascara, but again, the brush is so inadequate it's hard to get much coverage, much less any length or volume. Don't believe the hype.
