Good points about PSP are that it is a pocket Playstation, which you can carry around easily without having to take of the plugs and than packing them up. The PSP just makes the lifes fro children who like video games so much easier. But overall I like the PSP because I have one on me. So don ' t wait and get PSP for yourself from anywhere you find it cheap.

Way better graphics and able to watch movies. The audio is really poor the controls are so frustrating. After all the PSP is more interesting then the DS light. Well recommend the Sony PSP.

Great choice of games, good graphics and amazing features, like the ability to store videos and music, and wireless internet access.

Not an ideal console to keep in your pocket, if it was slightly smaller it would be great.

In general, amazing and well recommend the Sony PSP.

So i got this two years ago. I was about to wet my pants i was so excited! so here i am two years later and there have not been a lot of good games since, and i'm getting sick of tony hawk. the internet is the coolest thing ever! it's wireless and runs real nice, simple set up, i can wirelessly get updates, listen to radio and much more. i've dropped it a few times, made the mistake of letting it sit in 100% humidity but it refuses to die. i'm considering throwing it off a skyscraper to see if it will break. oh, before i forget, if you want the internet, buy a game update it, then if you a have wireless airport, there is a wepkey, it's 10 digits long and is needed for internet. it's on the bottom of the airport example [1234567890], find new connection in the network settings. Also, remember to buy at least a 512 mb card at least if you plan on using internet, movies etc,

The PSP is a good move for Sony as it has sold nearly 2 million consoles already. So this is not just for gaming but also for viewing photos, watching videos, listening to music and doubles up as a good modem.

I like the psp as you can play games on it, also you can watch videos on umd format or convert dvd's to playable format so you can play dvd quality films on it but have to be converted first look in google for how to do this i think it is ask a website where he tells you what u need and how to do it and last but not least you can use it to surf the net and check email if in a wifi hotspot
but here is the good news in a few months time mcdonalds are going to be wifi enabled now you can get a burger and fries and look at your email while eating how cool will that be , technology is just amazing these days.

Also you can download demo's from the psp store which is getting updated this year soon

“For many years I had always relied on a Game boy to...”

★★★★★

written by SteveTC on 14/11/2007

For many years I had always relied on a Game boy to entertain me on the move, and when Sony announced they were going to give it a go I was a little intrigued as to how they would better NIntendo...after all they have been in the game for ever and were going to take some rivaling...let alone beating it....but you know what...I believe Sony have pulled it off with this little beauty....and what a beauty it is.
Before you critics out there think I'm a Sony fan...''I'M NOT''...I have never took to the Play station and have bought every other home games console out there bar a Sony...so for me to go purchase a mobile one was out of the ordinary for me.....So what made me buy one...WELL...it goes like this.
I first saw one in action in my local games store behind one of those glass cases and they were running a Tiger Woods Demo and the graphics just blew me away...I never realized that a game could look SO realistic on a hand held. After a little more investigation as to what else this device offered I went to the shop and bought one with several other games to keep me amused.....But it doesn't stop there...With the ability to play music (MP3) and Movies (Mpeg 4) and view your photos (J-Peg) all in glorious wide screen was just icing on the cake....plus the ability to surf the web (something I have never done myself but have seen demonstrated)...
I have watched one movie from a UMB source and it looked fabulous on the highly detailed screen....but since then I have converted my own movies to Mpeg 4 with just as much success and viewing them was fantastic after working out just how small to make them and still retain good quality...I can now get 3 movies onto a 1Gb memory stick and still save a few games to boot...I've since upgraded to a 4Gb memory stick and that has made this hand held a portable entertainment system in it's own right...Ok ..Ok...so it don't have a phone.....so what...!!!..I now have the ability to have as many as 12 movies on tap....thousands of tracks of music and even thousands of pictures...or a mixture of each so I can never be bored with something to do while out on the road...even down to surfing the web after you set up an account.
The Sony PSP is a real grown up piece of kit...and to be honest...to good for kids...but hey....I doubt the kids will see it that way as long as they get one for Xmas or a birthday....but parents be warned ...if you want to keep that gorgeous screen scratch free for the kids get a screen protector for safety,s sake. It's finished overhaul in a black piano high gloss and a quick wipe over with the supplied cloth brings it back to new in a jif.
I've heard of reports that the battery life is poor...but I think the 5 hours I get is more then adequate...it also gives the eyes and ears a rest while it's re-charging....which by the way can be done via a mains adapter or the computer when attached with the own bought lead. The screen itself is a good size even for those who's eyesight might be a little worn...and the interface is a easy to use too...The actual buttons you use for the games are adequate to,giving a positive feel and the mini joy stick also feels like it's up to the job as long as you don't yank it too vigorously...I'm quite heavy handed and have not broken mine yet,but they can be easily replaced for a few pounds.Since it's launch, there have been many extras developed also to make the PSP an even better experience especially in the battery department...there's now a device that makes holding the PSP more comfortable (not that it's uncomfortable) with a built in battery of a larger capacity and a memory card...and even external speakers, just in case in ear phones are a pain for you...talking of which...the supplied ear phones are of good quality and should suffice most needs and are very comfortable...but I dare say someone will always complain that they can be bettered.
I'm not going to into any technical specs...look those up for yourself on the internet....but when and if you decide to buy a hand held....Nintendo no longer rule the roost..well not in my opinion(and I've been a fan for years)...take a peek at the Sony PSP and be ready to me amazed at what this wonderful piece of technology can offer...I love mine and have extracted all of it's potential to the full....and so will you.....you own't be dissapointed

★★★★★

written by RobBuckland on 31/07/2007

Got our PSP about a year ago, what an amazing piece of kit it is! It seems expensive but when you realise what it can do it is actually a bargain! Perfect for holidays.
The quality of the screen is amazing, watched films (UMDs) on it while on holiday, it is much better than our portable DVD players despite the smaller screen. Games are good but still only have a few due to price, at least the films are getting cheaper now (picked up 3 for £10 from Amazon). Then you can put photos, music or videos on it. I also didn't realise until recently that you can use it to surf the web by wifi.
Sadly it's flaw became obvious when my daughter shoved it off the desk it was charging on by accident. The screen landed right on a metal stand and cracked inside. Next time I will invest a bit more and get a solid case for it!
My advice, adults with style should buy a PSP, leave the Nintendo things for the kids!

★★★★★

written by RUBBER2405 on 17/07/2007

I bought my Sony PSP just before Christmas 2006 and it is the best gadget I have bought to date (and I've bought quite a few!).

Games prices are fair and the quality of many of the games is awesome.
There are games to suit everyone out there, so get searching.
The console is well made and it goes on all my holidays and long journeys with me in its protective case.
I get about 4-5 hours of gaming if I am lucky out of a full charge, but i always take the mains charger which doubles as a power pack to run it from the mains.

The sound is best through some good quality headphones/earphones.
I have some Sennheisers PMX 100 's which do an excellent job and sound awesome, fully immersing you in the game.

I am currently playing Killzone Liberation, which is great, but difficult. (Not recommended for kids).
If you buy one, I would recommend buying some screen protectors with it and put them on from new.
Also buy a padded case for it, one of these wallets where it slides in as they don't offer enough protection if you drop it.

AAA+ item and a must have gadget for those gadgeteers out there.

★★★★★

written by Rabbit banger on 03/04/2007

The first time I saw the PSP, imported from Japan I could not believe the screen size compared to other hand-helds, It was a thing of beauty. The first thought that crossed my mind was "i need one of these".
I was astounded by the sound quality and especially the graphics, sony has brought out a good selection of games and films now.

The controls are very well placed and are very responsive, especially the little joystick; which i thought was the single speaker- I thought wrong as the PSP has two speakers at the bottom which pump out a lot more sound than i expected. The system's features also astounded me- video playback, the ability to download music and play it back, and the photo viewing. They all are displayed brilliantly as well, utilizing the PSP's crisp 4.3" display.

I could go on forever with the positive points but I've got to go and turn my PSP on to get my game loading. Which leads me on to the one negative point- loading times.

The loading times on the PSP aren't good. It takes WWE, a wrestling game, 8 minutes to get it going!
But if you are willing to sacrifice good graphics, features and sound for loading times then the PSP is the portable system for you. 9/10. Thanks

★★★★★

written by theshootist on 19/02/2007

I bought my PSP at first release in America while managing a large video game retail store.
While, the overall North American launch for it was considered a "dud', I found this console to be the pinnacle of SONY video game entertainment technology. Compared to the PS1 and PS2, this console actually works as intended, and for more than one year at a time!
The game selection has greatly improved over the past two years, and more and more UMD movies are being released.
The wi-fi gaming connectivity offers an array of possibilities while on the trolley or the subway.
Compared to any other hand held gaming system, the PSP offers the most entertainment for your money.

If you want a range of entertainment on the go then this PSP is for you. Its an MP3 player, games console, Internet browser and portable video too. If you just want it for games, or for younger users I would suggest the Nintendo DS - If you just want music, then an iPod.

★★★★★

written by sandman1289 on 02/01/2007

I've had the Sony PSP for about 2 months now and let me tell you that it is simply amazing. It offers everything that you could ask for in a portable entertainment device- great looks, amazing graphics, decent sound quality, photo and picture viewing functions, music and video playback capabilities and an amazing, easy-to-use WLAN Interface. The TFT screen is out of this world and the games, coupled with the highly responsive buttons are intensely immersing. I would say that the battery life too is not as bad as it is being made out to be - On a single charge, this device is capable of running up to 10 hours when playing music and 5 1/2 hours when gaming. Of course there are a few negatives that I would like to point out. The PSP has a very fragile air to it and should be handled with a reasonable amount of care plus, the screen is very prone to fingerprint and scratch marks although these are problems that any good scratch guard screen protector and/or protective carrying case can cure. The PSP is an absolute marvel of technology put together in a beautiful package and according to me the pros far outweigh the cons which are few and far between. FINAL VERDICT - If you're looking for a good, portable entertainment device to keep you company at home or on the long commute back home, look no further than the Sony PSP. Believe me, it's a choice you won't regret.

written by thecomplainer on 30/12/2006

Now I know this probably sounds a bit sad but I only got the PSP a few days ago and at first I was really excited about it but once I used it I found that I wasn't really that impressed with it. I mean there's hardly any games on it, the battery life is only 4 hours, there's only one analogue stick and it's nothing like what I expected. I really am not impressed with it at all and I think that Sony has gone way out of its league this time.
