“Making a claim”

After 32 years of towing a caravan without incident, finally hit a tree branch, that was hanging down and damaged the rear panel of our caravan. Initially thought the damage was minor, however our chosen repairer informed us that the complete back panel would require replacing, making it an expensive repair. The caravan club insurance was informed, and the claim form was downloaded from the insurers web site. After completing the claim form, attaching the repairers quote and photos of the damage the completed documentation was emailed to the insurers. It was a really easy process. Within a couple of days the insurer wrote to us acknowledging the claim, and informed us that one of their assessors would inspect the damage. The assessor inspected the damage and agreed that the back panel replacement was the correct repair required. Our chosen repairer ordered the parts, and the repair was carried out on a mutually agreed date. Our chosen repairer also sent out a mobile repair team to do a temporary repair so that there was no water ingress into the caravan. You only know how good your insurance is when you need to make a claim. The CAMC insurance is first class, highly recommended.

“The lost window”

We were stopped by another motorist to be advised that we had lost a bedroom window which had smashed on the road. We made a temporary repair and then had the missing window replaced several weeks later once the parts had come from the manufacturer. When I submitted my claim, I was impressed that the payment came to me only 2 days later, without any fuss or bother! This is excellent service and is an example of a very efficient and professional package from the Caravan Club.

We have always used the Caravan Club insurance having found it cheaper and the team are always so helpful. After having a very stressful time this year with a fire at home and also destroyed our new Swift caravan, the loss adjusters came out within days and the claim was dealt with very promptly and efficiently and we soon had a brand new caravan to go on holiday again. Very grateful!

“Does what it says on the tin”

Unfortunately, my awning was severely damaged during a winter storm in Cornwall. My policy covers new for old replacement, and after a few checks with supplying dealer I received the replacement cost less my excess. It is an excellent policy ( my first ever claim), and the process was made easy by good / clear communication from the claims team - well done

“Caravan Write Off”

After an unfortunate accident in May when my new caravan (only 6 months old) was written off I made my first claim in over 25 years of caravanning. I have to say that the Caravan Club were excellent from start to finish and I had my new replacement caravan by the middle of June and in plenty of time for my French holiday in July. The customer service from both the club and their agents was first rate throughout and I have nothing but praise for them in what was a very difficult time for us.

“13 years of happy service”

I insured our first caravan with The Caravan Club insurance 13 years ago and after needing to make a claim with them on our very first weekend away we have stuck with them ever since. We get a selection of discounts for having done driving courses and the security features on the various vans we've owned. Unfortunately we have had to make 3 claims in that time - 2 down to us having clipped the van getting it out of storage (both my husband's fault even though I was driving!) and another from a break in at a storage facility. On all occasions they have been very helpful, quick to inspect the caravan and approve repairs. We have been extremely happy with their service and have no intention of changing insurance providers.

“My experience of caravan club insurance”

When I contacted the Caravan Club to take out insurance on my caravan, I was pleased with the helpful and friendly attitude of the staff who sold me the policy. Over a period of many years of renewing insurance via the club, I always found them easy to contact and obtain advice from. I bought a new caravan this year and upgraded my policy to new for old. Sadly, I had an accident on a Spanish motorway in which the caravan was written off. I must admit I did wonder if the club and their underwriters would be as helpful with dealing with my claim as they had been when selling me the policy. I needn't have worried. The claim went through smoothly and within a month the insurance company agreed to settle in full. This took a great weight from my mind. I have already recommended the service to two friends.

Our caravan problem was solved very efficiently. A downside was having to travel several miles back and forth to deliver and collect our caravan but our fuel costs were reimbursed so overall we were very pleased with the service. All was dealt with in a reasonable time frame. Thankyou

“Caravan write off, thanks to storm Doris.”

On the 23rd February at 11 am storm Doris struck my caravans storage area. Doris blew down several trees one of which fell onto the back of my caravan. On inspection I found the back panel to be smashed the roof and skylight damaged, with some of the internal stays and ceiling broken as well. At this point I rang the Caravan Clubs claim line and reported the incident. Devitt were very helpful and I had a claims form within a day. Having returned the completed form within a week the Caravan Assessment Services (CAS) had contacted me to inspect my van on Devitts behalf. CAS were very professional and I was told at the time of inspection what current market value was placed on my van and depending on repair quotes whether it would be written off or repaired. Subsequently the van has been written off and on the 24th March I received a cheque for the agreed amount. I have now purchased another van and insured that through the Caravan and Motorhome club. I would like to thank the CAMC,CAS and Devitt for the professional way in which my claim was dealt with.

“Service should be like this”

We had our caravan stolen which in itself is a pretty devastating experience but dealing with insurers can be so daunting it is one of those things you are tempted to leave as long as you can. In our case the Police were worse than useless but the Caravan Club Insurance team on the other hand were brilliant. It is only in cases like this that you realise why the cheapest products may not always be the best. The Caravan Club people were helpful, sympathetic and did everything they could to process our claim as quickly as they could. In the end the claim was resolved and paid out in just a few weeks and we were able to purchase a replacement van without trouble. Like Red Pennant who have also proved their worth I will not shop around for caravan insurance or continental travelling insurance but will always buy from the Caravan Club.

After sadly having my caravan stolen I was naturally devestated. more so as my husband recently died and we had such amazing holidays in our swift caravan. “Great claims service following the sad theft of our Cadiz”

We have been caravanning since July 2011 and have always been insured with the CAMC and up to very recently had never made a claim. Imagine our horror when the police knocked at our door on 22 May to tell us they had found our caravan abandoned in a lay by having been stolen! We went to see our Cadiz and she had been dragged for some two miles on just one wheel as the Alko lock had done its job but underneath was all shot. They had broken in to the secure site and stolen our van. The police organised recovery and then CAMC came into their own. The van was inspected initially and then towed to a near by dealer for a proper assessment of damage. As repairs were likely to take over 4 months we arrived at a very fair cash settlement and the cheque was received in less than 4 weeks from the date of the theft. The service provided by CAMC, their claims department and the loss assessors was simply first class. Peace of mind was total. Now to find a new van!

“Poor customer service”

Nobody there to answer the phone? I had a query about which number to use abroad for Motor Caravan insurance claims other than a 0345 number. First I tried the claims line... automated reply ...told to call another number 0345 300 4282 then immediately cut off. Then called number indicated ....."You are in a queue, etc....." Gave up after over 12 minutes.... Called Customer Services.... "You are in a queue, etc." Again gave up after over 12 minutes waiting.... I'm really surprised! I always assumed a quality service from the Caravan Club (as "arranged by Devitt Insurance Services"). I can just imagine how stressful this could be if we were abroad with a claim. Have renewed this policy for several years without a second thought. Next year I will think again!!

“It is run by Devitt Insurance Brokers. I have had...”

It is run by Devitt Insurance Brokers. I have had major issues with them on other policies. Their strategy is to undercut any quote from any other insurer. Once signed up, they rip you off with extra charges to make any changes renewals etc.. They charge for renewing your policy!!!!! I had a scooter insured with them ( very competitive) and after year one, they demanded a £25 renewal charge on a £98 renewal premium. Their attitude,when taking out the policy is inflexible and obstructive! They insist on doing everything by phone, but never answer it... I waited over half an hour on several occasions. God knows how impossible they would be to deal with in the event of a claim. Once I realised that Caravan Club was Devitt, I cancelled the policy.

“guaranteed to beat your renewal by £25 is nonsence ”

said price was based on ASSUMPTION I had 5 years no claims which as it happens I have which I sent with my renewal quote and they then ask for the schedule which I did,nt get so I said forget it I,ll just stay where I was and they charge me £40 to cancel what a rip off
