Car broke down - ended up having to go 20 miles by taxi to collect another car from Avis - refused to refund my lost day - voucher offered in the end - Final insult was being invoiced for service charge for refilling tank of car that had broken down - still arguing with customer services about this. Some of the staff at Sixt on returning to Noce airport - rude and unhelpful - my advice - do not rent a car from Sixt.

I booked a car by telephone for a colleague and was not told by the phone operator that the branch closed at 12.00 on a Saturday. When my colleague went to collect the car at 12.30, he found the branch shut - Thanks Sixt.

Needed a last minute car in Berlin and SixT offered us a decent deal considering the situation. They were accommodating about getting the car seats we needed and even installed them for us. The first car we got the GPS wasn't working so they quickly gave us another car. All in all - no complaints! Everything was charged as they said it would too!

I rented a BMW via UNITED AIRLINES advertising of $371.00 for a week! Everything went as planned, the car was remarkable w/ GPS and the BMW was new w/ only 36 miles. I needed car an extra 6 days, which was no problem. The staff were not so friendly but not unfriendly. In all I rate them the best!

When I called Sixt asking if it would be Ok to keep the car an extra day, I was told no problem. I was even told that they would sort it out with their head office so that I would keep the spacial rates. When I returned the car, I asked to see the final cost (yes you have to ask for it). My extra day cost me over twice the initial daily rate, and no one mentioned on the phone either that there is an extra £10 for late return. Basically the same as if I hadn't bother to call them to ask for an extension.

I rented from Sixt Kenning Heathrow, as I often do, in February this year. On returning the car, my form, which I still have, was signed by them as having no damage. A few weeks later, I saw on my credit card an extra billing of £58.75. I had had no communication, warning, notice etc. from Sixt at all. On enquiry, they said it was for cleaning, quote "as the vehicle was returned really dirty"!!! I have tried to reclaim the amount, but they said, quote "With your signature on your rental agreement you authorize Sixt to charge you for any additional charges in relations to the rental." I would never rent from them again. I find this to be a disgraceful way to run a company.

I was very wary of hiring a car when travelling to Malaga this year. I decided to go with sixt. By the way, just to let you know beforehand, they are not based in the airport in malaga, but a very prompt bus service owned by the company was waiting outside the airport and dropt us off to the sixt office, which was literally at 2 minute ride away.
The staff were helpful, friendly and clear in their terms. We wanted a passat which wasn't available so they gave us a completely free upgrade to a BMW. What more could you ask for?
We did get a flat tyre thanks to my husbands not very good driving and we nervously called sixt to tell them. they actually came to our hotel and picked up the car with the flat tyre and replaced it instantly. what a relief!!
when we dropped the car off there were no problems whatsoever. I am extremely happy with the service and car and would highly recommend you go with sixt, especially if you are in Malaga.

We thought that the hire charge was a good price until you included the fuel charge. It worked out at nearly £100 for the week.

Highly Recommend: We rented a 9-person van out of Bologna and had no problems. The staff was courteous and professional, the car selection was great and the car itself worked flawlessly. We also appreciated the after-hours drop at the airport - I had an email receipt for the rental charges sent to be before I got home.

The worst customer service I have ever experienced. One of the employees shouted at me when the car was returned with a dirty exterior and then said we would be charged £30 for cleaning.
This ended up costing us a lot more than we bargained for.
They take a large deposit from your account when taking the car; much more than any other hire company has ever charged me before.

I would definitely recommend Sixt in Croatia.

We reserved the car on SIXT holidays website. They informed us that a representative would contact us before they process the request. Instead, they immediately charged us for the car. Unfortunately, we did not think anything of it at this moment.
We ordered a Volkswagon Passat variant with diesel engine and winter tires but when we came to SIXT office they said they only have a gasoline Ford Mondeo and we have to take it. We attempted to explain that we asked for a particular car and it was confirmed during the reservation. Moreover, if they advertise VW Passat, they should give the car they advertise. If they only have Fords, why not put Ford instead of VW onto the ordering form or at least say 'VW or Ford'? Plus, we had a particular budget for the car rental and it did not include paying for gasoline in Europe. That was the reason for requesting a diesel car. Their ordering form did not say that engine choice is not guaranteed.
Customer service representative told us that if we don't like their rules, we can go anywhere we want. We did not quite understand if it meant, to another agency or to hell? When we said that if they have such rules, they should clearly explain everything on the ordering form and let people know that engine requests will be granted, based on the availability. The nice lady told us that the words 'by request' already mean based on the availability and when we said that it's not true, she told us that she is graduating from the business school this year and knows what English words mean. I guess her education makes her a much better expert in English language than the person who lives and works in the United States.
We finally got a car. It was a B-class Mercedes, a smaller car without winter tires but with a Diesel engine. They had this car available at the time we arrived but we had to wait two hours before they decided to give it to us. For whatever reason they consider it as an upgrade but if you compare the price of a Passat with winter tires and this Mercedes, you will see that the Passat is more expensive; only winter tires cost 15 Euro per day. Of course, nobody offered us any refund to cover this difference.
I would not say that we will never ever rent from SIXT again but we had such a better experience with Hertz and AVIS, that we will make any attempt to avoid SIXT in the future. Be careful with this agency, discuss all terms and conditions before ordering from them. During our conversation they also told us that they do not guarantee a non-smoking car either and that may be critical for someone.

I have exactly the same problem with Sixt Car Hire Romania, Bucharest office - Koppel. Can you please tell me if you managed to get a refund of your money?

Hi,

Sorry to know that!

To be optimistic, I can tell you I got my money back, even if it took me more than 3 months.
I complained on the international Sixt car hire website, who forwarded my complaint to Sixt UK ... You have to call them back again and again because they tend to forget.

Good luck.

A small 2 inch by 1/4 inch scrape in clear coat, without any damage to paint or metal, was found on returning the hire car to Sixt. The girl at the checkout desk said that it would cost 100 Euros ($120) to fix it. She had not seen the scrape. When I questioned the charge, she came back with a charge of 250 Euros ($300). I submitted a formal complaint to the manager. He came back with a quote for 650 Euros ($780) to repair the defect.

I would hire again with Sixt car hire. I am in car rental myself in the UK with their rivals (Hertz). This rental was perfect, and also efficient. Well done Sixt.

We recently hired a car with Irish Car Rentals.com in Kerry. We found the service and car to be perfect. There rates are very keen but we really wanted a trouble free car rental experience - which we got. Would recommend to anyone.
