Had a terrible experience of this company having rented a car from them for six weeks during the pandemic. They have form for opportunistically charging grotesque fees for damage which may or may not have occured during your trip - which is what happened to me. This is obviously to supplement profit. In my case the alleged damage was completely unnoticeable and now I'm getting charged over £800. A complete grind to have to dispute. But beware !

I rented a Luton van with a tail lift. When I returned the van they claimed I scratched the underside of the tail lift. This is the part of the vehicle that lays down on the ground so you can roll your loads onto it to lift it up to the truck. It is in regular contact with the ground. This is akin to them accusing me of getting a pebble stuck in the tire treads. They are now trying to charge me 1000 GBP for the "damage". I know of three other people that have similar situations. I will never use this company again, nor should you.

I want to say that I have had a fantastic service with Sixt at Alicante Airport, Spain for the last 2 years. Both times the cars were virtually new (Audi A1 August 18, Citreon C4 Cactus 2229KYG August 19), they were sparkling inside and out and virtually new! The staff on arrival and dropping off were professional and courteous and we have had no issues with the cars on both occasions, even though we do in excess of 2000km during our holiday and the cars work hard. Last year we were given a "Free" beach umbrella on arrival which was a great touch! Yes, we pay for it in the rental price, but it's still a nice touch. They are more expensive than other companies, but I believe you get what you pay for, I have had old cars with Record go and queued for hours with Goldcar. My advice would be go for Sixt, I am booked to go in August (Fingers crossed and Covid allowing), and will shortly be booking again through Do you Spain.

Please think twice before you hire a car from this company. They are most definitely the most dubious car hire company I have ever delt with. Their customer service is shocking and they are definitely geared to screw you over.

Sixt charged me for damage to a car which I did not make. I'm pretty sure this is part of an organised thing at Geneva airport. Their "customer services" declared me guilty without even reviewing my evidence. When I sent a video through (taken at pick-up), they simply claimed, wrongly, that no damage was evident on the car. So, if you do decide to hire from this company, taking your own evidence is not enough. You will have to take time and effort to get one of their operatives, who will be hiding, to come and note the damage. make sure they note every single bit becasue they'll make a bee-line for the bits they've "missed" as soon as you return.

Booked a Car from 14th March until 8th April. Due to a flight cancellation coupled with the global pandemic I brought my flight out to the 29th March cutting my trip short, Called sixt to inform of an early drop off, got confirmed by agent all ok and refund will be done online. Dropped the car at Heathrow, no one present to acknowledge the car for damage or petrol being full, a safe box to drop off your key was the only acknowledgement of what to do next. When I got back to my final destination still no word from Sixt on the car being dropped off so I emailed customer service about the car and refund. got a reply from Customer Service E-Mail: customer-service uk at sixt She is now rejecting my claim for the balance of the hire duration and the matter is being taken up with British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association via the website Resolver. Do not use this company under any circumstance!

Do not use this company! we ended up with a £1000 bill for paint damage we didn't do. Unfortunately i didn't take images of the car before we drove it away. Proving the damage want caused by me was impossible, just as them proving i did do it was. t&c's in their favour in this situation so you will be forced to pay. They have no interest in working with customers to resolve any issues like this. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!

Rented a vehicle in Miami for 8 days and knew I faced tolls and was offered $10 a day fee. Over two days went through 14 toll camera's and totalled $14 in tolls At $5 PER TOLL I was then hit with $70 in Administration fees and no negotiation whatsoever on the outrageous fee per toll NEVER AGAIN WITH THIS COMPANY

What a bunch!!!! I rented a van for an evening which was only driven for a few miles and had light cargo and have been charged for a massive dent that was already there - they pointed this out to me on taking the vehicle so I assumed it was recorded. this is perhaps the most disingenuous company I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Please avoid them and use a reputable hire company (I only wish I had checked the endless reviews of people who have used this company!).

I returned a hire car to Sixt St. Pancras and the staff refused to inspect it. Having checked over the car I wasn't concerned, and have never had any issues with hire companies. Two weeks later Sixt tell me they have have a damage claim with photos of quite substantial damage that clearly is from another car hitting the side. I disputed and heard nothing for 9 months, then they sent me a bill with an engineers report that had new photos on it with even more damage, taken in a different location. Their own photos showed that they were trying to charge me for damage that clearly happened months after I returned the car. I am still disputing the charges from Sixt and getting nowhere, and get conflicting and random responses from them only after escalating it. Do not hire from Sixt!

I booked through gotrentalcars, but the supplier was Sixt, I booked a Mercedes CLA as a treat, and it was as cheap as an ordinary car, but several weeks after the booking we were reading the email and noticed as it was a premium class car, they would only accept Premium or Gold credit cards for payment, several phone calls to the agent explaining that would cost me £900 in fees to take the card out!! They said they would ask Sixt for clarification and try to assist, but no response, so had to cancel, won't use Sixt again.

We booked for a family visit and it was totally ruined. Not only did they leave us waiting an hour, their system was down and she said we didn't have the right cover, followed by a threat of £100,000 liability and bullying sales tactics to pay more. When I challenged her on this the staff member was extremely rude, aggressive in her tone, spoke in a terrible way about me and threw a tantrum. No professionalism at all. We then spoke to a deputy branch manager on the phone and as it was extremely late and our hotel booking at risk, I came to an arrangement with him. The original staff member went on and on continuing her tantrum. We asked her several times to lower her voice as she was shouting and completely lost it. I couldn't believe when she threw the keys back I to the drawer and refused to give us the car!! We were astonished as we had just been talking to the manager and the documentation from SIXT that I had clearly showed all the cover On it but she refused to reD their own documents. Not only that but she kept going on about ticking boxes as we booked 'outside of the country' despite being UK residents with a UK licence. So we were abandoned with our money taken when we first booked a long time ago, no vehicle and a massive taxi bill to continue our journey, well last midnight! SIxt customer service took two calls to raise this after a difficult check in in the middle of the night. My daughter's health was affected by the stress, my husband (in his sixties) had a massive migraine and we were faced with a ruined holiday as I am a Blue Badge driver and I was trying to get around on public transport to see my grandchildren. We couldn't take them where we planned, couldn't arrange the trips we wanted as it would have been too much to keep changing public transport and we were out of pocket for all of this. I can't think of any reason for this treatment as I have a perfect track record hiring with multiple companies e.g. Hertz, Europcar and even Sixt. Ironically I had just rented with the two months earlier so I was not an unknown customer. So my advice, STAY well clear of them. If the are prepared to throw tantrums, lie, cheat and abuse a young professional lady with a health condition, two grandparents one who is a Blue Badge driver and abandon us without a vehicle, I don't believe anyone should give them custom and support their outlandish behaviour. We had to record their staff member as it was unreal. And to top that we were being offered a hatchback vehicle with 10 defects and it was not the higher vehicle I requested to allow ease of getting in and out for me. Totally wasted trip, hotel, car etc as everything was based on us collecting the vehicle as normal. This company not what they say they are or promote. If I could give a minus rating I would do that!

When we book cars in Europe, almost all companies include CDW cover in their prices. Sixt does not and it offers this as an option. And if you miss that tiny box, beware that your CDW will cost you x10 times more (!!!) if you try to include it at the later stage. For example, my optional CDW cost £10.40. I missed that box and called them to add that insurance, Sixt offered same CDW for £94! They trap you and then suck you blood! Avoid at no cost!

Hands down the worst experience i've ever had renting a vehicle. I recieved a damaged van, returned a damaged van and now they want to charge me for it. They have the damage on their records but will not acknowledge it. I keep sending the same email with quearies on and they reply with an invoice. They are just trying to bully me into paying. Horrendous company. Avoid at all costs.

Recently used SIXT to hire a car at Glasgow airport and return it to Edinburgh airport . Whilst for bog standard manual vehicles they may not be first choice in terms of cost , for something more premium eg an auto BMW , Mercedes or Audi they seem to have a better availability than many other car firms (maybe because they are also a German company!) although you will not necessarily get the make specified on the website, as they make clear on the website itself . We reserved a BMW 1 Series and got an Audi A3 instead which was perfectly fine. The staff at both ends were very friendly and helpful ,we had an elderly passenger with us and they went out of their way to make matters easier to accommodate him. Would definitely use again.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. This mob operate very dubious practices, like a third-rate tourist rental business. Their front of house staff and overly friendly and they then hide behind the small print. Here is how they operate. 1. They have almost zero tolerance to any marks on the car even from road chips etc. This is a deliberate policy to add cost to your rental. They comb all over the car looking for anything. I was given a car with 15 or so noted narks. I was expected to find them which as they are very minor scratches is impossible, then identify any not noted before setting off. So, make sure you have an hour to spend doing this plus the ability to take photos or video. Or of course you could go to a company not trying to extort extra money. Money they clearly do not use to facilitate damage repair. 2. When you return they will find something. I knew it was not damage I had caused as to do so would have required me bashing the edge of the car door on something. I hadn’t. If you query their findings, they just hide behind we have to send this to Germany for a decision. In other words, not me mate I would accept what your saying. Nonsense. The damage report is sent away for someone to determine any cost. I could not find a list of potential charges anywhere so this could be anything they want. 3. Mad as it seems I had to pick up a different car after my first rental (I booked before I appreciated their plan) This car I was informed only had one piece of damage. Now I knew what I was looking for I found at least 3 others that they had “missed” as would I if I did not know how ridiculous their policy is and what they search for. 4. Having booked (prepaid) this car for 13 days I decided to return it early as I didn’t trust this damage policy and knew you couldn’t drive it around and have no problems with it. I returned the car after 3 days. Imagine my surprise when I got the invoice. No refund of unused days. Yes, it was in the small print. What proper company operates such an unfair policy, I have paid for 10 days hire I didn’t take. So, my sincere recommendation is do not use this company. They offer competitive rates based on the premise they will find other ways to recoup money. If you do use them make sure you factor in their expensive daily no liability insurance. Doing that makes their prices usually uncompetitive though. I honestly thought the days of businesses using the practices this mob do was gone. Nice to know that it is with most. Lets ,punish this business in the balance sheet. DO NOT USE THEM.

Again a bad review for this company. I rented a care from from Faro airport returned the car and was told no charges and then received a letter saying that they had to add 5 euros of petrol to the car and so i was being charged 70 euros for this. I argued but to no avail. seriously 70 euros for a 5 euro petrol charge your laughing at us. No One else does no one else they are Goldcar or another rental hire firm

We recently rented from Sixt for our 25th wedding anniversary get away to AZ. The customer service we were provided was stellar from the very beginning. When we checked in to pickup our car with the person I dealt with. She went out of her way to make our trip special. She upgraded our SUV with complete joy and excitement on her face. Only a day into our trip someone smashed in the back passenger window and stole a few personal items. Sixts made getting a new car easy and stress free and exchanged our already beautiful SUV for an even better one. Thank you for taking such good care of us and making renting a car from your company a pure joy! I will be telling everyone about my experience and care and encourage them to rent from you!

Hi, i'm not writing this for any free bee's or because i'm bored and have nothing else to do, just a warning really to anyone who's thinking of taking a car from this disgrace of a car rental company. i got there and was given a that wasn't advertised, when i asked for it they said they very rarely have it in. then the car i was given i had to change due to a faulty tyre pressure light, which they could have charged me for, then changed it to a Kia which looked like someone had used it to play bumper cars with.7 then i returned it on just over a quarter of a tank and they charged be £85.00 LOL which i actually laughed at but can't so anything because its in their t&c's somewhere amongst the 12 pages. oh and i was told i would have to put a deposit of £300.00 down of which then took £150.00 then returned then re-took when i gave the car back. THEY HOLD ON TO YOUR CARD DETAILS EVEN AFTER YOU GIVE THE CAR BACK! WHICH IS AGAINST DATA PROTECTION! so all in all save yourself a headache people honestly, the prices are cheap with this disgusting excuse of a company for a reason.

DO NOT HIRE A CAR FROM SIXT AT DUBLIN AIRPORT. I presented my pre-booked/prepaid documents at the desk and was asked to provide a 5 year no claim letter from my insurers and a Doctor's letter confirming I was fit to drive? I am 79 and it's Terms & Conditions had clearly stated maximum age of 80. No reference to these documents not in two prior welcoming e-mails which stated that only provide driving licence, any payment pick up keys and away you go.I couldn't provide them so was refused carhire. I was also informed that I would forfeit 3 days hire charges of 120 Euros as I had no option but to cancel. When I questioned these requirements the desk manager became antagonistic and just referred me to Customer Services. The lack of a car destroyed our planned weeks holiday in Ireland and Customer Services were of no help at all. Two e-mails and a subsequent letter to Dublin Customer Services seeking an explanation still remain unanswered. I therefore wrote direct to SIXT HQ Germany where I received an apology for my situation and an admittance that steps had been taken to make their Terms & Conditions clearer. This did not help with myself and my wife having a stressful and unpleasant week in Ireland. I have however received a full refund of my payment.
