“Worst mobile serve I have ever had”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Fussyfellow on 27/12/2023

Absolutely lousy service. Frequent drop outs and, when I go to BT to attempt to get a fix they treat it as a joke. When I bought the service I was assured I would not need a landline as their mobile service was good - it isn't. The service is not good and they simply do not seem to care, when you can get through to them they try and sell you additional products which, of course, you don't want as the ones you have got are not of a decent reliable standard. If one complains online to BT they want a number to call you on, but your mobile phone is not working so how on earth do they think they can call you?

“Extremely difficult to report a fault”

★☆☆☆☆

written by DangeloGrantham on 28/09/2022

I have had no mobil service for 24 hours (my partner is affected by this too). Not a huge problem as such, sometimes complex networks have faults. The problem is that without a landline it is rather difficult to report a fault. I logged into he BT site and when I try to raise a fault I am presented with a range of new mobile phones to purchase. In desperation I googled "raise a complaint" and found a way to report the matter and raised a fault. BT Mobile's response to my having reported a fault with the phone - they have "scheduled a call" to me. Issues so far 1) Very difficult to actually complain 2) Clearly the nature of my complaint has not beed read properly I shall update this post as the fault progresses. Final thought - it was so easy to buy from them and so difficult when you have a problem.

I have found this to be a problem too. The complaints procedure (which you have to use if you want the fault fixed) is buried very deeply within their website and requires several additional steps to log in. Very poor indeed.

“BT: avoid it.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Emilianol130 on 03/04/2019

I bought two SIM plans with 3G data. The sales person told me that while the plan with 6G data is normally needed to get the BT sports in my phone, I can still get BT sports with this because I am their valuable BT plus customer, and the data will be doubled for that. However, I found later that that was not the case. Typical bait and switch. I made a complaint to BT. The customer service told me that BT will not do anything on that. Just take it or leave. Wow. What a great company BT is for their so-called valued customer. Please avoid this company and if you must choose this, be suspicious about any promise they give to you. BT is not trustworthy company. Once I finish my broadband contract, I will avoid BT forever.

“BT: beyond terrible. No reception or support only...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by tbEvans411 on 31/03/2018

I just moved frpm Vodafone to Bt back in Jan. Order 2 sims at the same time. First sim arrived 1 day later and the second sim arrived 3 days later after reordering and cancelling the sim in transit. However, the billing date for both the sims are same. After complaining i was told thatthe credit will be provided but nothing happened. Both the Sims activated, but no signal receptionat home. I Called 3 different numbers, mobile team, support team and then technical team where it was highlighted that out of 5 boosters only 1 is working in East london. ALSO, the senior technician replied that Bt doesn't guarantee 4g or 3g signals everywhere and that "everywhere" is my home. So they expect there customers too live on streets or on the roof where the booster is installed. I was ask3d to switch off 3g and 4g and switch to 2g so that i can only receive calls and access Internet through wifi. I requested signal booster from b.t where first i was told that it is out of stock and upon further debate i was sent an email to provide 4 examples of no signal reception. I gave them 1 example of my house that happens every day. So bt should multiply that example by 4 or by 365 days because i go and sleep at the same place on daily basis. To conclude, yes there wifi service and wifi support is good but never go for bt mobile because of no reception, no support plus you will charged accompanying with lots of stress. If they can post the sim to that post code, deduct the direct debit from the sim owner of that post code, why can't bt provide the promised mobile service to that post code? So far it has been 2 months and i just roam around the house for one signal bar so that i can receive calls which is like the basic function of mobile service provider. If BT is charging for 4g Internet plus calls plus text facility then i should be receiving all of them. If you can't provide me the services than stop taking my money and cancel my services. Worst mobile service provider ever.

“Very reluctant trapped customer”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Holden472 on 25/03/2018

I switched my internet provider from Sky to BT two months ago and I have nothing but problems with the reliability of the connection and the service I receive. The internet connection drops out and I get very low speeds to the point where I cannot open a web page! In the 6 years with Sky I never had any problems with connection or any cause to call customer services. Every time I contact BT they test the line and find no fault, they say the line is not dropping and fob me off with the same old things to try, on the last call I was told BT they will only guarantee a wired connection and told me to hard wire all of my devices or to look to change my provider. When I asked to leave my contract due to the issues I was told I would be charged. I am now trapped in a contract that does not deliver the service I need consistently. BT customer service is very poor and they do not care about their customers and are only interested in fleecing them for the money. I do not write reviews normally but I felt compelled to write at my disgust at the way this company treats its customers. Do not use BT for internet, if you have problems you will be on your own Very reluctant trapped customer

“Poor customer service, lied to left at a huge loss”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Damon06 on 11/02/2018

Not happy with this company, lost my Samsung galaxy 8 with my BT mobile sim contract inside as i used this sim with my handset witch did come from another network but used BT, when i lost my handset my insurance asked for proof of usage witch BT could not give me they had poor excuses to why they couldnt give this info witch i believe they should be as sim was used with that handset in question, i was told till blue in the face they could not provide proof of usage strangely, witch has now caused me big issues with getting my handset replaced by insurance no proof of usage no claim. so now im at a big loss of a £750 handset i cant replace and stuck in a 2 year contract paying £44 a month with no handset, no thanks to BT mobile not providing the appropriate info for my insurance company, when i mentioned court action bt all of a sudden managed to produce documents out of the blue witch did not even gel with my claim, so i believe this is made up and it come across very suspicious i am now forced with having to take court action at a cost to me, as a autism suffer and suffer of Asperger's i found my ordeal very very frustrating and distressing i have been without a handset since Oct now while dealing with this and every day my mental health gets effected and now forced to buy out for a new handset. i believe BT mobile to be liable in this case and having to take them and others to court over this now, id stay well clear of BT for mobile phones they have a poor reaction to customers issues and cant even do the simplest of things and unless you want to lose out i wouldnt even go there. not worth the stresses or action that has to be taken after dealing with them i also managed to gather over £50 worth of phone call charges to my home phone in relations to all contact to companies about issues revolving this. very upset customer and will never use BT again or advise people to go with them. I also had to go through the Ombudsman who sided with my insurance company and denied my claim due to no proof of usage so i feel BT are at fault and liable and act very suspiciously, i had to go through reconsideration with insurance and the ombudsman companies all to a fail due to one simple bit of info BT wont and say cant provide. Soon as a sim is put in to a handset that network is aware and details are logged of this imei number and with that number states what phone is used so why they cant do what other networks do is beyond me.

“Stay clear of BT mobile”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Jacquelyn235 on 14/12/2017

After 2 years of frustration with EE I finally changed my mobile phone network provider to BT thinking naively that they should be good. Well stay away, BT mobile bought EE and the poor service and hidden charges are the same. BT lures you in with seemingly good deals, BUT here the catch, their so called unlimited texts are not free at all, in fact. Whenever you use a moji or include a picture in your text BT will charge you 40 pence per text. It’s absolutely insane, the moji’s comes up whenever you are sending a text to your children or friends/spouse etc and if you are like me it’s nice to include a smiley face for example, and this BT knows too well so they charge unless it’s a plain text, shame on you BT.... furthermore their network coverage is lower and poorer than anyone else and if you like me try and call customer service (and are lucky enough to get through all the spoken nonsense and choices upfront) then customer care will only tell you that the coverage you are complaining about is flagged as excellent... it’s pointless, customer care in BT are just like any other dumb robot preprogrammed to say certain things... well I am cancelling as soon as possible and please do not waste your money and patience with BT, trust me it’s not worth it. Kind regards from a hopefully soon ex BT customer... Bearsden, Glasgow

“Shocking ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 369Coleman on 31/08/2017

Have used BT for years for phone and broadband. Took out mobile phone contracts with them having been assured that the signal in our area was perfectly fine. HOrrendous signal, lost so much business through it. Cancellation charges even though we were in our opinion mis sold this product. It is their fault and they are trying to charge hundreds of pounds to cancel. Fortunately our new provider is absorbing much of the cost. I am now cancelling everything we have with BT, and will never use them again. They are a dinossaur of an outfit.

“do not use BT”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Fletcher372 on 22/08/2017

BT have canceled my account without my knowledge 2 months into my contract and charged me £280 for an early cancellation fee. When I contacted them I was transferred to 4 different advisors who all gave conflicting information. My closed account was immediately transferred to a collection service as a closed account who added an additional £100. I was promised a refund and after numerous promises for a call back to resolve and issue a refund BT attempted to debit the £271 from my bank resulting in bank charges. 3 further 2 hour duration calls to BT and they have refused to refund as the account is closed, say there is nothing they can do and I am £371 out of pocket - no broadband, no phone line, no customer service. Worst provider - stay away

“Blocked roaming in Europe. Poor roam from home service.”

★★☆☆☆

written by HavenCowan on 13/06/2017

Went abroad last week, checked prior to leaving what I had to do to ensure we had roaming. ( We have 2 BT sims) answer: Do Nothing its alla utomatic no need to call BT prior yo leaving. Arrive in destination airport and both mobiles have "all networks forbidden". BT Roam from home due to start 1 June and we arrived 31 May. Thought maybe they will unlock 1 June as our Roam from home service may kick in on the 1 June...Nothing.. Contacted BT via hotel wifi chat who raised a complaint file for us as when I checked our BT account they had put a bar on our roaming due to a poor credit rating!! I was furious as I have a good credit rating. We had also moved our mobiles from o2 and Vodafone where we both had roaming facilities with no problem.. After 2 emails and 6 days later of being in the country they unbarred one phone for roaming with the other mobile still being locked. I will be cancelling my BT account today and that includes, home phone, broadband, tv and 2 mobile phone contracts.. They can take your money but leave us with no mobile coverage...

“Poor voicemail notification service”

★★☆☆☆

written by ovThomson75 on 17/05/2017

Just cannot have confidence in BT's e-mail notification of voicemails! The system can go three days or more before it sends an e-mail to advise that I have voicemails that I need to access! I use an iPhone 5s and I feel let down by BT when I get phone-calls from family, friends or colleagues checking if I have received a voicemail they left on the system two or three days earlier. This element needs improving!

“BT mobile coverage Isn't what they promise”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Angelar500 on 11/03/2017

Took out a sim only deal with BT as it wasn't a great price. Also BT told me that the area I live in had excellent indoor 4g coverage, that good in fact that I would even be able to get super fast 4g. So sim was inserted into phone and nothing, no super fast 4g, no 4g, not even 3g.... BT's mobile help team ran a test, stating that the signal was excellent, this even though during the test the chat session kept disconnecting every few secomnds!! I did a speed check with OFCOM and instead of the promised 60mbps download speed, all I got was 0.89mbps!! STAY WELL CLEAR OF BT MOBILE... ACTUALLY STAY WELL CLEAR OF ANY BT PRODUCT!!

“2gb sim overcharged”

★☆☆☆☆

written by btphil on 03/03/2017

Sold a 2gb family sim at £8 per month. checked recent usage and BT added an extra £19.48 after 2 weeeks saying I went over my 2gb. Checked BT app and online BT account usage and both say I've only used 1.9gb. Switched off all data and spoke to 6 different people at BT and they tell me the charge is correct. . Their data info is different and more accurate from what they supply the phones app and I have to accept the charge, its going to be a long 12 months. 4 weeks on and app still says I've only used 1.9gb of data. BT say they will now refund part of charge and only charge me £5 for over usage although I am really under my limit.

“Unwanted "free" simcard”

★☆☆☆☆

written by PaxtonChavez on 23/02/2017

Just been called about an unwantednot received not activated SIM card by BT! On saying we did not ask for or want the card were told it will cost us £37 to cancel - absolutely furious. This was "sold" as part of our renewing our contract - which we are very much regretting. Beware even though told it was free and part of of the new contract package - it isn't.
