i have just bought a 98 20 valve turbo Fiat Coupe with 70000 miles, fsh, and 6 months warranty for £2500. The car i s awsome in acceleration it pulls like a train in every gear. Im only 23 so the insurance is ridiculously high so young potential buyers be aware. Apart from that would highly reccomend. A truly jaw dropping performance car.

This car is simply awesome. One learns to grow in love with it every day. If maintained properly its a fine example of an every day sports car.
Loads of stuff to keep you entertained. it probably has one of the best Club forums with thousands of oweners. loads of information to maintain, tune, shop and enjoy this ride.
Even though it nears 10 years it still overshadows 85% of sports cars on the road in performance and looks. A head turner.

★★★★★

written by studiorat on 23/10/2008

The Fiat Coupe is a unique looking car with serious sports car acceleration and it will embarrass most cars easily.
The engines are very reliable but problems will arise if you neglect the oil checks and fail to keep to the service intervals as required in the service book.
The interior of the Coupe is well put together and it is a solid feeling car. Mines done over 100,000 now and it feels like its done 30,000, no squeaks, rattles or bangs.
If you like a hands on proper sports without all the nonsense that are driver aids, then this is a car you should definately test drive, but if manual tasks like checking the oil weekly is too much bother then get something else.
The support network that is the Fiat Coupe Forum (FCCUK) is absolutely first rate. Go there and you will find loads of friendly advice from a community of helpful enthusiasts. Cant be beat when it comes to keeping your Coupe in top condition.

“The Coupe whilst being visually totally unique is not...”

★★★★★

written by studiorat on 21/10/2008

The Coupe whilst being visually totally unique is not deserved of the accolade of being the best, most dynamic, most reliable, fastest or prettiest car on the road. But when I drive mine it does something far more that few other modern cars are able to do. The Coupe makes me feel connected to it and I become a part of the driving experience. Simply put, I smile hugely EVERY time I drive it. So far that puts it well out on top when compared to 99% of the bland and sanitized cars out there. Why? The Coupe is simply great fun to chuck around. There is a real sense of ' I am doing that" and that is a VERY rare find nowadays. Most folks can only anally mutter stats about "that will be my driver assist helping me out of that slide there, isn ' t it impressive how I don ' t really need to do that much ' in the actual hope no-one will hear them. I ' ve driven cars with these aids. Mind numbingly BORING and very dull is how Id sum them up. I want to slide the car, it wants to correct the slide, and IT can ' t be switched off completely. Or physically removed. Learn how to drive instead of having the car sort it out for you is best, I feel! The Coupes complete lack of driver aids (it only has ABS) means the driver is totally connected and the good bit about this is the Coupes steering response, chassis dynamics and the subsequent feedback are informative enough when leaned upon. To be completely fair about this the Coupe is "just" able to cope as it is, and the chassis really needs a bit help by stiffening it up a bit with strut braces etc. As well as this the 65/35 weight doesn ' t help stability or steering on the mid-slow stuff. As a real life comparison the 16vt Coupe on a track is just as fast as an Impreza. That ' s without all the computer aids of the Impreza which numb the driving sensation of the Impreza. That ' s with no 4wd either. Before all the comments about Impreza this and Impreza that I want to ask the Impreza drivers one question. Dead steering anyone? Not in my Coupe. Don ' t buy a Coupe if you ' re a lazy car owner though. The Coupe does need to have constant attention to keep it running well and to help owners avoid the usual problems associated with Coupe ownership. The Twin cam is a bit time/attention demanding but it runs lovely. Most of the Coupes problems stem from lazy owners neglecting some very simple engine checks. As a simple example of this you should really check the engine oil once or twice weekly for instance! If you ' re bothered by this kind of "hard work" get another car as your Coupe definitely will break from your neglect! Although the Coupe chassis with no fettling, just copes with the power, the unfiltered driving sensation is hard to beat. If the Fiat Coupe is good enough for Schumacher to own then Ill not be the one to argue with the mans opinion on what is a good "driving" car. Anyway. The Coupe is looking better every year in this world of bland samey looking boxes we are now calling cars. What I mean is how boring are modern hatchbacks? Fine for doing the shopping, but when being showcased as a unique sports vehicle they are simply the same car with a different badge nailed to the front. All miserable clones that look the same as all the other clones following "The Hot Hatch Formula". My Coupe looks wonderfully different to all the other "boy racer wagons", and I love that about it the most. Oh, make that I love that second most, what I love the most is my cars faster than nearly everything new too!

Looks "like" my favourite Maserati 3200 and much cheaper to buy it and keep it than Maserati. A lot lot of Coupe owners joined to Fiat Coupe Forum and easy to get tips & tricks for this car. Very potential for tuning & styling. Hundreads of tuning horses waiting for you. You get Sport car with real performance with very low price. The sound & feel when 20V Turbo accelerationg. Bella Italiana. They know how real sport car should sound & feel & look.

I think the Fiat Coupe is a rubbish car poor build quality boring engine full of flat spots and lag, looks awful don't be fooled by people saying Fiat own Ferrari it has no relevance they are cheap cars for less money. You could buy a Toyota MR2 turbo and have some style and class and 0-60 in 5.1 now that ' s a baby Ferrari!

In general a great car. I bought mine for 900 hence all belts needed changed and body work needed sorted. But the car has full history and with 127,000miles the engine drives and sounds like 60,000, been told by fiat mechanic. Front seems nose heavy as engine is heavy, which in turn make the rear feel too light. My old e36 coupe was better handling. Overall a superb sports car for the money!

Older performance car..Not wallet friendly when the get old as there is always something that needs doing. I've had three and the most reliable / cheapest to run was the 20v non-turbo.
Sold the lst one when the third child appeared. Could fit 2 child seats in the back but not 3...was a big decision (sell the kid or car on ebay??)...

The coupe is unique, style, space and the fact that FIAT were quirky enough to build it says a lot for a maker of Punto's...
Favourite game is tweaking the tail of the BMW crowd as nothing under a 645 / M5 will catch it.

A lot of style and performance for the money but not cheap to run. Find an independent specialist garage, avoid main dealers and join the UK Coupe forum. Once you've had one, nothing else comes close this side of a Maserati 3200.

I have had my front discs and pads replaced, after finding out that the guy who changed them didn't put any copper grease on them. I took my Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo Limited Edition back to the garage for this purpose. But they still make a hell of a squeaking noise.

Any Suggestions please? Because it's becoming very annoying.

Thanks
Andrew
