What is the point of this card?? I have been battling with trying to spend my points and I really don't have time for it. I do my shopping online therefore I want to spend my points online (but they make it really difficult to use online even though many, if not most of us shop this way nowadays). After discovering you can't make a part payment with the points (who thought up that stupid restriction?) I have been trying to use it to buy a full price item online, it tells me I can, and asks me to enter the last 3 digits of my advantage card (I don't have a physical card because they haven't bothered sending me one) and most helpfully, I can't see what the last 3 digits are when signed into my account, because they obscure them 'for security'. It does say that instead of entering the 3 digits you can enter your date of birth (but only allows space for 3 digits) (??) I tried a few times to figure out which digits they require, and they locked my card!! so now I have to faff about calling them to unlock my card. (IT'S A POINTS CARD NOT A CREDIT CARD BOOTS! There is no need for such vigorous security measures!!!) and it is a nightmare trying to send them an email for help, they make it so difficult to get to the contact form. The MOST frustrating points system I have ever used!!

Could someone please explain Boots' policy of disallowing cash top-up payments with this card. I had £19 worth of points on the card but was told this morning I could not use the points to buy the perfume spray I wanted; as the price was £22 I was not be allowed to use my points in part payment - even though I offered to pay the £3 difference in cash. WHY??? I do not know of any other loyalty card which enforces such a ridiculous rule.

I have had a Boots Advantage card for years now and the points soon mount up and then you can get something for free. Not like the Nectar Card where you have to spend so much to get a decent amount of points.

This card is frustrating! The most annoying thing is that you can't use the points as part payment towards an expensive item which would be a real help. The other thing is that when you do decide to use it you find you can buy that item much cheaper elsewhere so you don't! In the end all you can do is use it for the few odd things you can't get anywhere else like No 7 makeup......but then I end up not doing that because you can't use your discount and double points coupons if you do, like I say the whole thing is just so frustrating.

I have now trisd 4 times online and by phone to register my temporary card to get the permanaent card. I allowed time to process but after 6 months I am still waiting. An assistant in Boots suggested i phone them up again on the 0845 number, should I give up? My time is more valauble than all of the points I will ever collect. I am far from stupid by the way and do know how to fill in details etc. BSc, MSc and university science lecturer!

while the three for two offers can be good, you can often get these items cheaper elsewhere1 Also, the extra points coupons sent through the post are not very good for me.I live alone, am 72 so am hardly likely to be spending £25 or more to get 250points now am I!. so not advantage to me!

Been using this card for years, intermittently. I'm always using the points to pay for things, it's hassle-free and reliable. Having had nothing but trouble with my Nectar card, this is a breath of fresh air.

My purse is full of loyalty cards and I do think about which one I get the most benefit from when doing food shopping, or present shopping. I have had a Boots Advantage Card more many years but I just don't feel it offers enough to compete with the likes of Tesco and Sainsburys. Even the banks are now offering reward points for using your debit card and they seem to be more advantageous than the Advantage Card. I love their 3 for 2 offers they have all year round but when I'm ready to Christmas shop others also have these offers with an added bonus if you shop with them. Tesco offer you reward points which you can trade in for almost everything and around Christmas, summertime and the new year they offer a double boast. Sainsburys you build up your little nest egg as you go along just like Boots but for some reason I never have more than a £1 on my Advantage card and I shop there more than Sainsburys. I do think it is about time that the Boots Advantage Card had a makeover and offered more attractive bonuses to their loyal customers. I for one would most definitely shop there more if they did.

I was about to spend my points today on a Christmas gift in boots in Cork, Ireland. I only then discovered the point payment fiasco. No other loyalty card that I know of imposes this condition. Loyalty cards are an effort to retain customers but if I can buy an item for 2 cents(or pence)cheaper nearby I have my saving at once and I get the loyalty points from that store, if they operate one, so a double incentive not to buy at Boots. The item I wished to buy was cheaper else where but not if I could have used my points so I decided to go to the other store. Funny thing is the manager said he would do the same thing as me, that I wasn't the first to complain and that Boots don't really listen to suggestions but that they pay his mortgage! Of course I will use up my points and I will use the card when I have no option but to shop in Boots in the future but it will not be out of loyalty.

The card has given me an incentive to go back to the store and not go to other places like Superdrug who sell similar items to Boots. I have had a few 'free' gifts from the card now which makes me want to go back and buy everything i need in their store.

Love this loyalty card, builds up points fast and it's great fun when you can essentially get an item for 'free' when paying with points! Don't know why some people are complaining about not being able to do part-payments. Just spend the points on something smaller, it all works out the same at the end of the day! The special offers kiosks are great as well, don't know anywhere else that does something like that and I've gotten lots of extra points and even free items from vouchers at the machine!

i think its really unfair that you cant use your boots card as a part payment, its your money and you should be allowed to use it for what you want especially around christmas, its the only card that i have that does not let you use it for a part payment, think they should change there policy,

by far the best loyalty card out there. you can earn points quickly meaning you can spend sooner. plus there are always lots of great offers available through the kiosks in store. i get lots of money off vouchers and special offers in the post which make this card real value for money.

I think the boots advantage card is great and I am getting a lot of xmas presents from boots but I am dissapointed that I cant redeem my points against a larger priced item, seems a bit silly and out of date

I shop a lot at Boots and having the advantage card has helped me save money on many occasions. Shopping there regularly collects me points and when they've built up I get small things like nail polish, shower gels, body lotions, etc for basically free as I use my collected points. I often receive vouchers through the post which get me double points when I make a purchase over a certain amount. My advice would be to get the Boots advantage card and start shopping at Boots. They have a good range of products and the scheme really allows you to save money.

I really like the Boots card. It gives you a lot of points for your Money along with lots of other useful Benefits. You get Exclusive offers aswell and I like the fact that if you Become an organ Donor, they put the Symbol on your card. And its FREE..!!!!!

There is no age limit to get one. It is eay and essential. Would recommend anyone to get a Boots Card.

I think the Boots Advantage Cards are brilliant. People often complain that you cannot use part-payment when redeeming, but is this really even a big deal? At 4 points per £1.00 in store, you can hardly complain - either way, you're getting free stuff! On certain promotional days (usuallly around Christmas) you get 1000points free for every £50 spent in store. And, the in-store kiosks have fantastic offers, for example, everytime you spend over £25, you get 200points free.
They're easy to use and free, so that's great. and you can collect points on most items (not infant milk under 6 months or stamps). They also send vouchers through the post if you want them. Great card.

I think this is the best loyalty scheme available to consumers today and definitely helps Boots to maintain market share and retain customer loyalty. The Boots Advantage Card is dead easy to use, you just hand it over when paying for goods at the till point and you can either have the points added to your card or you can redeem existing points to purchase the things you need. It should be noted though that not all goods in Boots can be purchased using the points you may have on your Boots Advantage Card so look out for products that have a star symbol (I think if I remember rightly) next to the price on the shop floor to ensure you can redeem against them. I store my points until holiday time and then redeem what I have against sun tan creams etc as they always seems expensive. I think you get 4 points to the £1 so your total soon builds up.

The Boots loyalty card may be generous but Boots have an unacceptable policy of not allowing shoppers to redeem points on goods that cost more than the value of the points.
I tried to redeem £9.50 worth of points on a set of electrical toothbrushes this morning, and found I couldn't. So I ended up paying the full price on the item, costing me over £22. :(
This is very untypical of loyalty card schemes.
