“Shockingly rude and treat people like trash”

★☆☆☆☆

written by NorthStand2023 on 23/01/2023

I applied for a job through Reed Business Support. They told me if I didn't have exactly the right proof of ID documents, I couldn't be put forward for the role until I travelled to their office in Manchester to scan them in. What's wrong with scanning them in at home and sending them as an attachment? Ridiculous people. Anyway, I stuck to my guns and they eventually said I could send them via email. Then I travelled quite a long way to attend a really gruelling interview. I let Reed know how it went afterwards by email as they asked me to - Nothing, no reply, no acknowledgement, nada. Three weeks after, I had still heard nothing back from Reed, so I emailed the guy I'd dealt with all along to ask for an update. That was over a week ago and I have had no reply and don't expect one either. The way they operate is, when you're in with a chance of a job and they are in for some commission, they're contacting you for fun. As soon as it's evident you haven't got the job, then you simply don't exist any more. It's just on to the next person with the same approach. Reed are rude, unprofessional and need to learn some manners and people skills and not just ignore people who have actually gone for an interview organised by them. Disgusting company and people.

“Terrible company, signed me up for a contract and...”

written by Paul82sss on 20/07/2022

Terrible company, signed me up for a contract and completely miss sold and lied to me, told them I wasn’t happy and there attitude was we don’t care your in a contract, adverts producing zero applications on 35 jobs and CV’s of engineers and accountants with there job as a warehouse operative to make it look like they have more CV’s than they actually do! Most CV’s dead and old numbers, duplicate CV’s say that have millions of CV’s when most are made up and don’t work to take your money when signing up. Honestly CV library are cheaper and far better

“sign up with Reed in Reading for Temporary work”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Snyderok135 on 19/11/2018

I sign up with Reed in Reading for some temporary work. I had a couple of phone calls from them at the beginning of the year. I have not heard from since about having any work for me. Today I get an email from Reed in Reading asking if I am still looking for work. I emailed them back saying me off there books. Will not be using Reed in Reading in near future.

“Don't Waste Time Registering here”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 08/08/2018

Went to Register with the person I dealt with  in Warrington She said we don't have anything at the minute and will tell you when we do. Despite applying for stuff matching my skills I feel they are pretty useless as they never seem to be aware of anything I have applied for with reed business support when I ring them despite it being their forte, If you sign up here Good Luck because you will be lucky to hear from them again

“X factor wannabe”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ColbyReid393 on 06/07/2018

The person I dealt with @ Preston is one extenuator of the truth. I had an initial interview which went great, went for the interview and I have no feedback...Whoever owns REED need to audit there staff as you are paying these for nothing. NO job offer = no commission. Business in about making money (simple), but REED want to pay for Executives to bring no defaulted expenses.

“Now, over the last 8 months I have applied to well...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Floresul340 on 07/03/2018

Now, over the last 8 months I have applied to well over 100 jobs advertised via reed recruitment, however I have been called around twice over this lengthy period of time. One phone call was to invite me in for a registration with the person I dealt with, in which she blatantly lied to my face regarding the opportunities they had on offer, and one was to ask me what employment I was interested in AFTER THE REGISTRATION where I explained all this in great detail as I was there over an hour. All that useless woman does is email about 'GREAT OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE' however not once have I even smelt one of these opportunities I am substantially over qualified to take on. She is not worth the time or money spent on her, she is not even worth the energy it takes to click apply on one of their offers as you have more chance of being struck by lightening on the toilet than actually getting anything accomplished with her by your side. She is genuinely appalling. If I was her boss she would have been thrown with the wind a long while ago. Very VERY poor.

“Mis-Sold Their Product”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Kirkland299 on 22/02/2018

Long story short. Reed.co.uk quoted us for a job posting package and we explained to them that we had a similar offer from another job board but that included CV search and download. They told me that CV search and download was also included in the Reed package and I asked them to pop it all on email, which they did. When we went to use the CV service, some months later (because their job ads were not working, virtually zero response - don't waste your money) it did not work, and I asked them about this. They explained it was never part of the package and is not in the contract! - It was in the quote though! One thing we found with Reed.co.uk is that they do not like being complained to at all. They will not accept fault and they respond in quite a rude and arrogant way.

“Don't bother to get in touch! Don't bother with them!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Lake32 on 07/05/2017

Two London offices, Victoria, and Wembley Park. Lose your CV, never forward it, don't get in touch, have to keep phoning them, have to keep going in etc etc. After all their adverts on TV about Mondays etc, they don't bother. What a joke! And we British are being told that we 'do not want to work and we are lazy' etc when talking about immigrant workers and they can't even bother to get in touch! I saw a lot of foreign workers in the Wembley Park, London office a few weeks ago. They were interviewing them and talking to them- all being paid minimum wage and being exploited! Shameful of them! They don't want to employ Brits!

“Disappointing and uncaring ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 329Powell on 19/03/2017

They don't care about you, and leave you to suffer at the hands of useless uncaring employers. The staff don't care about you and can't even organise themselves. Just don't bother using this Agency. I would not recommend to friends and family due to sheer embarrassment they cause you. If you have a problem with an employer they fit you up with, they don't want to know and just ignore the problems and you. They are very unprofessional.

“Unprofessional and petty”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Barry472 on 08/02/2017

I requested Reed stop sending me vacancies for jobs that are the other side of the country in fields I am not interested in, but yet they keep sending numerous emails for jobs that I am not interested in as they obviously want to fill them asap. After numerous calls/messages/emails asking that they stop sending me rubbish via email I eventually had to advise them that I would take action as it was nuisance calling/emailing. I asked to stop sending me stuff that I would look myself and let them know what I am interested in. Since then they have become very petty. I have applied for jobs via Reed (that are within my chosen fields and commutable area) however I have subsequently found out that my details haven't been passed on to employers! I call and am told the Advisor is busy, I leave messages which aren't returned, they have obviously spat their dummies out! Very childish staff!

“Desparate Cold Calling Then Stonewalling”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Zaria230 on 21/01/2017

I am fortunate to be in a job which I quite like but as with everyone else you have be to aware of potential opportunities, so my cv is available for others to see. For several times I've had Reed contact me with details of potentially interesting new jobs but with the proviso of very tight deadlines along the lines of "DEADLINE TODAY, URGENT" etc or at any rate with a covering letter to be submitted the next day. Being in work means doing such applications in the evenings, with the 'promise' by the recruiter he/she will let me know the outcome 'asap'. Guess what? Nothing. On one occasion I was even told I had been shortlisted for an interview then the communication stopped. I now don't use Reed: it's obvious that a) either they don't have the contacts/links in the fields for these jobs b) even if they do, soliciting last minute applications is purely for back-up where they have already forwarded other candidates. Either way Reed are a waste of time of fly-by-night recruiters with no expertise or the relevant contacts. After all, what's the point of a headhunter if he/she is simply asking you to fill in the same job application form as for external candidates?

“Reed, good amount of employers, plenty of jobs”

★★★★★

written by 3akShah on 14/12/2016

not sure why they have such bad reviews? but they have good traffic on their site and they actively send me out emails related to the job im looking for? i see some people don't like agencies but these days if you want to get yourself a job in a higher up position chances are you will have to go through an agency this is there way to vet out and leave the process to someone else.

“What do they get paid to do??”

★☆☆☆☆

written by JacquelynHicks264 on 05/12/2016

I wish I had read these reviews before signing up to the waste of space that is REED. I too applied for a job online and a member of Reed contacted the next day to say they cant put my CV forward to the company until I come in and register with Reed by brining Passport, Birth Cert, NI number and Bank Details. I was really interested in the job so I made an appointment. I was there for an hour signing forms for Reed, forms for the job I went for, giving them all my bank details. The Consultant said I was an ideal candidate, and the way she spoke she had me in the position already. She said she was in charge of submitting the applicants and I was at the top of her list. She said you will receive a telephone interview the following Monday and you will start the Monday after that, is this ok? I was really excited and said this sounded perfect. Monday came and nothing, so I phoned Reed on the Tuesday but the Consultant was on the phone so I left a message for them to ring me with the outcome, but heard nothing back. I phoned Wednesday, same scenario. Usually I would give up at this point but I wanted to find out why I wasn't shortlisted when she made it sound like the job was mine. I phoned Thursday, the Consultant had "apparently just gone into a meeting" I left another message and said will they phone me back today, I got the answer "of course" heard nothing back. Phoned again Friday, they actually answered the phone which took me by surprise. I said did you not get any of my messages, I've been phoning all I week. I got no apologies, just is it about the job I applied for, errrr no I was just seeing how you are Lol They said the company is messing them around but they will def phone me after 3pm with an answer, prior to weekend. Any guesses? Yep, heard nothing. Monday came and I didn't want to speak to them again so I emailed instead saying if they could just reply to my email, they didn't have to ring me. A few hours later I actually got a reply, they didn't know why I was not shortlisted, maybe it was that I didn't have as much experience as the rest. ??? Now, as I am her client couldn't she have found this out for me from the company?? Also I'm not sure what the company knew or possibly saw (CV)about me, but I have 18 years experience in a Senior Admin/PA role and this job was a temp Data Inputter at £8.00 per hour. Also why do none of their colleagues know nothing about any of the jobs they are not dealing with? Its 2016, do they not have a database with a list of all their current vacancies, if they have been filled, if they need more applicants, who has been put forward etc. What would happen if the Consultant looking after the job you went for got run over by a bus, who would know who had been put forward for any of the roles they were dealing with? Anyhoo after reading all these reviews, I'm starting to think, was the job actually real, was my CV actually put forward for the job or was my details sold on for a fee as I have been receiving lots of rubbish spam. This all happened 2 months ago and I have heard nothing from them since and considering I said I was eager and available for work asap and have 18 years of Admin experience including many qualifications etc this does not add up... I was reluctant to sign up with any agency at first as I thought I would be sick of them ringing me everyday with temp admin jobs, but absolutely nothing. It makes me think, what are they getting paid to do? Why is their Manager (whoever they are) letting them get away with it? And now I realise why there is no customer feedback tab on their website Lol Stay well clear!!!!

All they do is CV gathering, most of the jobs posted are no longer available etc, they are harvesting CV's

“Waste of time ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by LaurenMeadows on 29/07/2016

This agency said they had lots of temporary work for experienced receptionists and customer service agents. I had worked for a well known and well respected company and Reed thought I would be suitable for a job they had advertised. I was not given all the details for the interview before hand. I had to constantly phone them on route to get the details. My consultant was at lunch so someone else had to find the details. The company that they sent me to was awful. It was a million miles away from the previous company I had worked for. The office looked like a converted workshop with too many desks, too many computers and too many members of staff in such a small space. I was offended that my new agency had sent me there and I tried to be as polite and professional as I could in the interview. I was told by the manager that I was overqualified for the job. After that Reed got me zero temporary jobs and I never received a single phone call from them in two months. Until a consultant from another branch sent me details of a job which was not suitable for me.

“Lied about EVERYTHING”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 437Kilgore on 29/07/2016

Not to blow my own trumpet, but I've never had a problem finding work. A woman I'll refer to by her initials as VI contacted me from Reed and sent me forward for a job I was reasonably interested in... I ended up getting the job! Then the problems started. VI assured me I'd get a basic of £23k which was what I needed to pay my mortgage- when I got a call from the Umbrella company they use to pay me, I found I was on 20k. Unhappy and really worrying, my employer advised I take a few more hours which I did and on the £11 a hour, I was due £22,800. I did some research into Giant (the umbrella company) and I asked VI to put me on her own payroll as Giant take over £100 a week from me. VI had actually never advised about the Reed payroll, I found out from another employee about it and they explained that the recruitment agency get commission off my wages if I pay via Giant. Ha! VI took her time setting me up on Reed payroll and then told me that she couldn't pay me £11 per hour like her email stated. I was now on £10 and there is nothing they could do about it. I'm now not going to be able to get my mortgage sorted. VI knew this and has done nothing to help. She lied about the pay package. I was never told this position was only temporary either, and this caused me so much stress and anxiety for myself. Avoid this recruitment agency like the plague. They trick people, sell your details onto third parties and I'm quite concerned as to where my details have ended up. Not only that, they lie about the jobs, the pay packages, the length of your employment and are very evasive with information.

“Reed doesn't pay their temps! (And pay late!)”

★☆☆☆☆

written by plumber5971 on 09/06/2016

Working for Reed is worse than any other agency! After nearly 2 weeks work, the consultant emails to advise they have mucked up payroll and won't be paid till following Monday!. Not on, but after many emails and the contract paying up still no money, bad Reed may be court orders will make to buck up and do some work.

I registered with Reed ages ago and they took a photocopy of my full birth certificate. They're now saying it's lost on their system. As it's a very highly confidential document I'm worried about crime etc. Any ideas, anyone?
