You get a very beautiful silver color with LOreal Feria. The beautiful silver colour fades away really quickly and after a few weeks your hair looks yellow. Beautifull colour but it doesn't last long such a shame.

I purchased Hi-Lift Browns Downtown Brown... the box CLAIMED it would lighten your dark brown hair 4 shades... this was supposed to be a lightener for brown hair..... after 2 boxes and 45 minutes... NOTHING... it did absolutely NOTHING to my hair! Very upset... $20 spent on nothing.... might as well have just flushed my money down the toilet.

written by historybuff2283 on 18/02/2008

I was left with shiny, gorgeous hair, after using Feria. The shade (I used #63 shimmering amber) was more red than I had expected, but I received so many compliments, I wasn't too disappointed. My natural shade is light brown with hints of auburn. This product left my hair a very light auburn, almost strawberry blonde, with copper highlights. It does begin to fade a bit after two weeks, but the even the color it faded to was beautiful, not brassy, and the difference was noticeable only to me. It remained incredibly shiny the entire four weeks between dye jobs. After all of the horror stories I had been told about Feria I was hesitant to purchase the dye, but I had no problems with it whatsoever. It was very easy to apply. The amonia smell was no more noxious than any other hair dye's. This product didn't dry my hair out too badly; no more so than any other hair dye. My hair was so soft after using the conditioner included in the package! I would love to purchase a large bottle of the conditioner for daily use. I fully intend to use Feria, again.

The good news is the stuff fades fast so hopefully I won't be stuck with this gray/silver colour in my hair long, however if you do get the desired colour on the box it also will fade quickly.

I Would Like To Say That This Brand Tells You Right On The Package NOT To Use On Bleached Hair Or GRAY,WHITE Or Light Blonde For That Matter. It's A NO-BASE TRANSPARENT COLOR. Which Means It Adds A Permanent Color Tone To Your EXISTING COLOR It's Not Made To 'Tint Back' Bleached Hair Or Cover Gray.

One of mine is the conditioner you use on your hair after dyeing. Can you use it again like regular, even though they don't sell the L'Oreal Feria conditioner separately?

And, if I use my own shampoo and stuff, will my colour fade after the first wash?

You can buy the conditioner at some beauty supplies OR You could try one of the L'Oreal Elvive (Vive Pro in the U.S.) Deep Conditioners they have the same basic formula. And NO it won't fade anymore than normal if you use your own shampoo/conditioner combo.

FERIA® Is A PERMANENT COLOR, It Won't Completely Wash Out. You'll Need To Use A Color Remover And/Or Re-Dye.

I've had the same problem. It is the solution that does not wash out of your hair. I understand it is a PERMANENT hair color but unfortunately the actual solution does not wash out and the color bleeds within a week for me.

This is the absolute worst product I have ever used in my hair!

This comment MAKES NO SENSE - the haircolor mixture DOES wash-out when you rinse your hair after dying - the color you see' bleeding-out' is likely the 'BOOSTER' (small tube) that contains DIRECT DYES to increase color intensity. It is washing out because your hair is OVER-POROUS from constantly Re-Dying it.

“I have tried to dye my hair black with L'Oreal Feria....”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ancusel77 on 02/07/2007

I have tried to dye my hair black with L'Oreal Feria. Big mistake! Although I followed the rules to the letter, the dye started running down my neck; I tried to stop it, as I wanted to keep the dye in my hair for as long as it was needed. The dye continued to run down my neck and over my ears. It stained my t-shirt and towel - which had to be thrown away. I ended up having to wash my hair after only 15 minutes, and, as you can imagine, my hair got a horrible patchy colour and had to be dyed again the next day!

The colour was really good, but it could not be described as permanent. I coloured it a spice red, and although there are some really red bits left, like it was when done, most of my hair is very dark red now, almost auburn/brown.

L'Oreal Feria is very disappointing for a well-known brand, and for the money.

The picture on the box of the expected colour was totally wrong.

The hair colour was supposed to be reddish, and it turned out to be dark brown with some red highlights. Loreal Feria ruined my night!

I disagree with this review because... You didn't say what your STARTING COLOR was - L'Oreal FERIA is a TRANSPARENT COLOR if your starting color was too dark OR DYED to that shade it will not look like the box.

“Feria is a real triumph for L'oreal. ”

★★★★★

written by beautybear on 18/10/2006

Feria is a real triumph for L'oreal.
Really sparkling color with a multitude of shades, tones and highlights in each color. The shades seem to sparkle and glow from within each strand, definitely not flat color. The conditioning is superb. My hair looks freshly colored for weeks and the highlights last and last (I use one of the blonde shades - #93 Candleglow or #91 Champagne cocktail). I recently tried the "color booster" metallic blondes #po1 silver blonde metallic, and was impressed at how many silver highlights it gave to my beige-blonde hair without making it gray or muddy. An excellent product! Did I mention that the conditioning was superb?

Ok, I used LOreal Feria Metallic Blonde Silver. As my hair is naturally very dark brown, I had to prelighten with superblonde. I then used the Feria. I waited the recommended time between prelightnening and colouring, which wasn't bad because the superblonde had given me a nice golden blonde anyway. This is such a fantastic colour, I love it and so does my husband. I would recommend this product to everyone! I am never going to the hairdresser again.

written by ashes on 26/08/2006

The color of my hair was great for the first week, when I used LOreal Feria, but it faded as though it was a semi-permanent color. Every time I washed my hair for the following three weeks, the dye was visibly being washed out. I watched it go right down the drain with my shampoo. Now my hair looks very dull and I have to recolor it again, but definitely not with Feria. I do not recommend this product at all. This was not the first time it happened to me. I thought I would give it another chance but it's just a horrible product.

written by purplelady on 06/08/2006

I'm very disappointed with LOreal Feria. I wanted to dye my hair purple but it came out a dark red. I naturally have dark hair but I followed the guide they have on the side of the box and it showed that dark hair became purple. When following all the instructions, my hair is now dark red, a colour which I did not want, so I suggest those with dark hair to really reconsider wanting to dye their hair a funky colour because you may end up with a totally different colour!!!

★★★★★

written by Chetney on 19/07/2006

When using Loreal Feria hair color on my non-color treated hair, I noticed that not only were the directions easy, and explained, but everything in this kit was made to make hair coloring easier. It only took 30 minutes to leave my hair vibrant and beautiful.

A warning though. To someone who wanted a natural look, don't look for it in a red color. I used Chocolate Cherry do lighten up, and create a reddish hue. It looks totally unnatural, but still looks very nice. I have received a lot of compliments on it. This product can also stain a forehead if the color is dark enough, so make sure you wash thoroughly away from skin.

“After seeing the fabulous reviews for L'Oreal Feria, I...”

★★★★★

written by NYCDenMom on 23/05/2006

After seeing the fabulous reviews for L'Oreal Feria, I went to the Feria website to review the colors (www.lorealparisusa.com/haircolor/products/feria/index.asp) and figure out which color would look best on me. This was a lot of fun and very helpful.

My hair is natural medium brown: the most medium brown that ever medium'ed a brown. It is short (kind of like a grown out pixie) and I have medium loose curls. I generally color it about every 6 months with something slightly lighter or darker than my regular brown. This time I wanted to go darker.

I swung by the drug store and picked up #41, crushed garnet. On the website, it looked rather black with red, but on the box, it looked red with a hint of black. I picked up a L'Oreal Black mousse temporary color in case this color didn't work out. (Trust what is on the box). I followed the directions. The smell is greatly helped by the "aromatic" oil you add. The conditioner after is great too. It would be great to have someone around to help you get all the sections and double check your work.

Yes, other people's responses of "psycho explosion in the shower" are not an understatement. Be sure to really spend 10 minutes rinsing, and double and triple rinsing. I used a white towel on my hair when I got out of the shower. Needless to say, I got back in the shower, and the towel is in a bleach cycle.

So, I have conditioned it and dried it. It is a bit more shocking red than I originally expected. For my hair, it is like bright auburn with fiery highlights. It is not what I expected, but it is fun. Not good for my skin color at all. I will definitely be putting some low-lights of blacks on top of this.

written by hyperkitty on 02/01/2006

LOreal Feria I was a bit unsure whether to contine using box dyes after the few OK ut not extremley successful trys that I had in the past such as: Herbal Essence, Colorsilk, and Hydrence. I went to the store and just looked down the hair aisle as I always do and looked at the color 'dark irridesent blonde' since that was the color I was trying to get to anyways (my natural) I just put it into the cart. I came home and read the directions- I was amazed how they actully EXPLAINED how to do the color test part with measurments and everything!! I couldn't do that with the others becasuse I don't know how much to use!! After the 25min test I rinsed and dried the lock and loved the color! the stuff rinses out pink!! not brown!! Which is easier to wash out of your hair. I did my hair and it took only a mere 25 mins. I did the most wonderful conditioning treament it came with after and dryed my now silky and untagled hair. It was amazing!! Little lighter than I wanted but only a little- it was seriously better than any hair I've seen done at a salon((wich usually turns out brityle and dryer afterwards anyways)) AND I LOVE THE COLOR!

“LOreal Feria My hair was getting very dodgy as I had...”

★★★★★

written by jenbubs on 20/11/2005

LOreal Feria My hair was getting very dodgy as I had a bleaching incident which was covered up with red hairdye, which was covered up with brown dye. So, my brown hair was wearing off and looking a bit brassy-time for a new haircolour!

I wanted something a bit different, I've been longing for a bright red but knew I'd have to spend a lot of money at the goth hairdressers in Camden getting it done, so off I went with my boyfriend to get some home dye from Boots.

So I thought I'd go for a nice vibrant red. Every red dye I picked up seemed to be 'too gingery' as my boyfriend agreed, until I picked up a Feria colour: 'Pure Plum Power'. I remember from the adverts that Feria was supposed to be bright and vibrant, even on dark hair, and I'm sure this wouldn't wear off gingery at all.

On the front of the box was a girl with beautiful claret red hair. I checked the hair colour chart and it seemed to come up pretty well on dark brown hair.

I have extremely thick, past the shoulder lengh hair, so I always buy two boxes of dye...yes, quite a curse. Only 5.29 each though, I'd rather have evenly covered hair at a price than blotchy hair.

So, we got home, I covered the whole bathroom in towels and my boyfriend (what a sweetie) always does my hair, so he read the instructions and put the gloves on.

You have to apply this to wet (not shampooed) hair which annoyed me a bit because my hair is harder to manage when it's wet since its curly. ah well.

you add some kind of liquid colour to the developer and then the 'colour booster', a tiny red tube. The dye looked a bit like blood which made me hopeful it may come out nice and bright, but the mixture gets way darker with time. damn.

To my surprise, this is the only brand of dye where it covered my whole head with just one bottle! I was amazed! I didn't have to waste my money after all...but since red fades quickly it's a good idea to keep it topped up I suppose.

The instructions say to leave the dye on for 30 mins, but I left it for 45 because my hair is quite resiliant.

And then the rinsing....red dye never seems to rinse out. The shower looked like 'Psycho'! But after about 10 mins I gave up and applied the nourishing shampoo. I never find the post dying shampoos to give as nice a result as conditioners, but alas, it smelt nice. I also applied some L'oreal Elvive colour protect intensive conditioner since my hair can be quite crazy.

The result? Well, I am rather pleased! My hair is in a good condition, it smells yummy and the colour is beautiful! It's like a very dark brown/black but with a vibrant flash of cherry red. It's very even with a '3d' hightlight effect, meaning my hair isn't just one block colour.

I would definitely recommend this! especially for girls like me with very thick, long hair-there was even a little bit for my boyfriend to use on his multi-coloured hair :P

written by rguildford on 30/08/2005

I have fairly light hair (Dark Blonde) and used to have my hair highlighted with L'Oreal Professionnel's Maji Meche (An ammonia free colour). After seeing the new Platinium (again Ammonia free) I decided to go to my Toni & Guy in Central London and asked them to use this product instead of the Maji Meche. How i now wish i hadn't. I don't not blame my technician and she did exactly what I asked for but I'm very very disappointed with the end result. My hair is slightly lighter than what the Maji Meche would lift which is great and i like to be light blonde it but it has completley no tone to it. You know what I mean when you have had your hair coloured blonde and you are left with a nice tone to it, like a brilliance and depth more like an actual shade rather than a washed out faded colour that looks like you have had it done for months and it's faded badly. Also this stuff promises to provide total respect to the hair and to retain the Lipids in the hair thus retaining moisture. My hair has been left feel almost quite dry and brittle. I've spent all weekend with intensive treatments in which has restored some health. I won't be using this product again and should advise you not too either.

The fact is, your hairdresser used Platinum incorrectly. Platinum IS the most conditioning lightener on the market today - in fact, there's nothing else like it. But, your hair should have been pre-treated I think and your hairdresser should have toned your hair with a translucent demi-permanent shade so it wouldn't have that raw 'bleached' look. There's no excuse for getting a shabby bleach job like that - you should complain.

“Whenever I have the urge to dye my hair, I head...”

★★★★☆

written by damnhooligan on 27/05/2005

Whenever I have the urge to dye my hair, I head straight for L'Oreal Feria. I have naturally dark brown hair, so my choices are somewhat limited as I'm not ready to fry my hair with bleach just yet. In the past I've used Espresso, a rich ashy dark brown and was very pleased with the results. But just recently, I decided to take the plunge and go for an obnoxious shade of red, in this case Flaming Red, a bright copper. Its one of the many in the "Power Reds" line, and despite the ginger-haired pixy on the front of the box, L'Oreal claims it shows up on even the darkest hair. Well, sign me up! I immediately fell in love with the results, though they were hardly what I expected. I came out with a very vibrant totally unnatural medium red, which unfortunately lost its brilliance after 3-4 washes. And by the four week mark, it had faded to a not-entirely-unattractive dark brownish-auburn. I hadn't really noticed how much the colour had faded until I went to touch up my roots this afternoon and saw the startling difference, post-hair dryer. I would absolutely recommend this brand, but beware of the more vibrant colours and their tendency to fade fast. If you want a shocking bright colour that will last, head to a professional. But if you're just looking for a quick three-day weekend colour-boost, Feria's where its at.

Hi! Been using L'Oreal Feria Metallic silver blonde for over a year now and I too get asked by people in shops what I have used, and even in my hairdressers they are amazed it is a home colourant.
Very easy to use - I have been using home kits for 10 years and this is definitely one of the easiest.
Only negative is that the real "wow-silver" metallic colour booster effect doesn't last very long, maybe 2 washes and then tones to a light ash blonde but still looks cool!
Recently made the mistake of changing to plum hair and I so want my metallic blonde back! lol.

I purchased this Feria silver metallic this weekend and as I am new to it, I carried out the test for 48 Hours before applying.
After 5 minutes my head was burning and itching and after 20 minutes I rushed to wash it off. As soon as it was off - no burning. The 48 Hr test was fine but I think I may have scratched my head with my nails and broken the skin, which caused the burning sensation. Please if you do have broken skin - Do No Use until it has fully healed.
The results apart from the scabbing are fantastic and everyone comments on the colour and shine, it looks like a professional highlight job .
