“NOISE LEVELS”

★★★★☆

written by on 31/10/2013

Thoroughly enjoyed film however noise levels were excessive throughout. Usually the adverts are loud but the entire film was too loud. Why do Cineworld have to have the noise levels so high. In fact 2 weeks later my ears are still not right.

“Sound Level Damaging”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 25/09/2013

We attempted to watch Rush on September 24 at Cineworld Bolton. The sound levels were so ridiculously loud that, apart from potentially damaging our hearing, they even obscured the dialogue in the film because it sounded distorted. We have been attending this cinema for many years and have never experienced these exceptionally high sound levels before. If this is what to expect in the future, we will wait and watch on TV or DVD.

“Worst Cinema I've Been to...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 03/09/2013

I recently went with my mum and dad to watch scary movie 5 (I'm 17 and look much older) AND THE FILM WAS A 15, they asked us if we had id for me and we said are you kidding im 17? and the idiot jobsworth at the till said sorry you need id, all we had was my birth certificate since we'd earlier needed it for hospital and he said sorry but photogenic, so we called the manager who said we get alot of liars here who think they own the place going in underage, and you may well be one (he actually said that, im not exaggerating!) so after a long argument he had us removed from the cinema. i will never go there again and wouldnt recomend it to anyone! also i hope the manager gets hit by a car!

I was beginning to think it was me. Yesterday I went to the Nottingham Cineworld and sat through the entire PRISONERS film hearing only the odd word! The preamble ads, games and 'coming soon's were crystal clear but as soon as the film started, someone turned on a muffler.
I had the same trouble watching AVATAR at the Showcase in the city too.

“Wheelchair users are penalised”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Thetafia on 01/09/2013

I've been waiting 50 mins already (at 10p/min + BT tariff) to book a wheelchair space at Chichester Cineworld for my daughter. Able bodied people can book free of charge over the internet but wheelchair users are penalised in both time and money,it seems. Still no answer.

“Overpriced sweets and tickets”

★★★☆☆

written by on 23/08/2013

The sweets cost £3.00 and I know shops which sell sweets for only £1.00. Also you used to be able to go to the cinema with only a £5 now you have to take about £10. Everything that you pay for is good but maybe a little overpriced many people go to the cinema why can't they drop the prices.

“Overpriced Sweets and Popcorn”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 25/07/2013

I took my daughter and her two friends to see Monsters University in 2D and from buying the tickets we only had 15 minutes to buy sweets and sit down. The staff were friendly and polite. The building was clean and there were plenty of parking spaces. My problem was the overpriced sweets and popcorn. Can Cineworld please justify why a packet of sweets cost £3.00 when I can buy the same ones for £1.00 elsewhere. It took a while to discover where the prices were for the popcorn and drinks as they weren't displayed where everyone could see and the writing was small. I understand you have costs to cover but this really is Greedy!! of Cineworld. Next time I don't care about your policy I WILL BRING MY OWN!!!!

“decent cinema imax is better”

★★★☆☆

written by on 23/07/2013

we went to see MONSTERS UNIVERSITY 2D but the movie was delayed becuase the ads didn,t fit the screen becuase the movie type so everyone,s face looked compressed (lol) the sound on some parts was really good and i liked the bass(which rarely shook you seat)lacks high tones a bit and the picture detail wasn,t the best like the hobbit which looked nice the customer service was good and the people are nice and friendly but popcorn is way overpriced but they are better cinemas the 3D in ice age 4 was bad but depends on the film you watch if you have the chance to see a movie in IMAX go for it

“Cineworld Southampton”

★★★☆☆

written by on 14/07/2013

The Good - Great Customer Service and clean Cinema. The Bad - Overpriced food, doesn't show all the releases, bar always closed evenings, in the winter the heating is always broken and in the summer the A/C is never on causing us to leave a performance last week due to the ridiculous heat! We think they do this to save money as it's not the busiest cinema in the World! If it's the same tonight we will be complaining to the Management!! Generally a good cinema but it's old and tired and lacks good sound and 'stadium' seating. Definitely in need of a good refurb we think.

“Ipswich imax”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 02/07/2013

I took my 16 yr old daughter and wife to see the new superman film at the imax in Ipswich. Both my daughter and I had to watch the film at times with our fingers in our our ears, my wife could just bear it. It completely ruined the film for us. Whilst the 3d is better than normal you soon get accustomed to the effect. I am writing this the morning after and my ears are still ringing. After the film I complained to the manager who said " not our problem mate! Cineworld is a separate company" the guy was clearly a complete jobsworth. Its now the morning after and my ears are still ringing Adam Reason Ipswich

“Massive queues, overpriced”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 01/07/2013

I am an unlimited customer so generally pop into the cinemas in the week (normally around 5ish), however I thought I'd go one Friday evening and was shocked at how poor the whole complex was running. It's never taken me more than a couple of minutes to get a ticket but 20 minutes later and only half way through one of the queues I realised I had missed the start of my film. Very disappointed. As with many people, the overpriced nature and poor service of the Cineworld means I am upset with this, when tickets cost as much as a DVD cinemas have a lot of work to do to convince me I should watch films there.

“Ipswich Cineworld ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 25/06/2013

Beware of booking online. The system crashed and I got charged for 6 tickets, instead of three. It took a lot of letters and complaints to get my money back. The cinema is very dirty. Good points we sneaked our own drink and snacks in so did not have to pay for over priced food.

“Warning! Improper charges to your bank account!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 06/05/2013

Take care! Don't open an Unlimited card with them. They kept on charging my account AFTER I had cancelled my subscription. When I realized I sent them an email, they replied acknowledging that it had been a mistake on their part... they said they would pay it back to my account, that I just had to confirm my bank details, which I did.... But never got my money back! I sent them many emails with my bank details so they could transfer the money back into my account but they have just being ignoring me for months. Seems that my only option now is taking legal action, since they refuse to return the money that they admittedly have improperly taken from my account! They act with the uttermost impunity.

“Cineworld Cinemas - Unleash unlimited movies”

★★★★☆

written by A123uk on 15/03/2013

I must admit I'm surprised by some of the reviews I've read so far on this site, being an unlisted customer myself I can say over the course of the last three years I've had very little to complain about. During this time ive visited a number of there premiss and always found the staff to be very help full. The cinemas are alway clean and tidy which considering that I visit on average three times a week is quite an achievement. Cineworld show a selection of both the latest releases from the major studios as well as a selection of smaller independent companies. As far as pricing goes I feel the the ticket cost are no higher than those charged by rival chains the local ocean and vue for example charge identical prices or higher and are in no better condition offering the same level of quality for picture and sound. Personally in terms of value for money I find my premium unlimited card to be superb for a monthly payment I am able to see as many movies as possible for no additional charges, entry to 3D screenings are free, 25% off any purchases I make within the cinema and invitations to special unlimited advanced screenings of films. One small complaint I have is previously a screen was marked and it took a long time for thus to be replaced, this however was over 2 years ago since the the screen and seating have been entirely refurbished and are in great condition.

A123Uk's Response to A123uk's Review

Written on: 15/03/2013

An additional note which I forgot to mention during my review - whilst it doesn't affect myself as an unlimited customer I would also like to point out the by booking online you SAVE an additional 10% on your ticket prices, this is contrary to most cinemas which CHARGE a booking fee for the pleasure of skipping the ticket queues.

“If there was another cinema in Ipswich, i'd be there.”

★★☆☆☆

written by laurenamy93 on 27/02/2013

I can't believe that Cineworld gets away with their ridiculous ticket and confectionery prices but don't have a good friendly service on offer, OR, clean toilets and screens!! The chairs are old and horrible with chunks of foam missing, the sound often disappears in certain films, there's always popcorn on your seat when you go to sit down. EURGH! Sort it out Cineworld! Nearly £15 to see a film in the imax, what a disgrace.

“Well for starters i walked through one entrance to be...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 05/02/2013

Well for starters i walked through one entrance to be told its broken and i have to walk through the back,so did everyone else. As i walked through i stepped on what i hope to be ben and jerrys ice cream but instead it was very warm and the consistency was sticky. I needed to urinate so i went to the toilets which i hoped to be decent, but instead i could hardly see myself due to the fact that there was coke stains on the mirror. By the time i got into the toilet after i done my business the flusher didnt work and it over flooded. After the film (which by the way was disgusting due to the sound) i almost tripped over the steps because they didnt switch back on the lights. I did not appreciate the man making finger puppets with the projecter during the film but well done on making the rabbit as i can not do that one yet. I do NOT reccomend this cinema to anyone!

“Rubbish experience”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 23/01/2013

Went to Cineworld last night, the box office was closed (closed when we arrived at 5.45, still closed when we left at 8.30) so had to buy tickets from wall machines, this involves getting down on your knees among discarded popcorn etc in order to read the card payment screen. Went to buy snacks, long line of people waiting, only two staff working very slowly, gave up eventually & went to Ben & Jerrys counter where fewer people waiting, but only one member of staff serving at a chronically slow pace (making drinks involving crushed ice seemed to take forever) A small bottle of Appletizer was £2.55, we gave up eventually making it into the film 15mins after the advertised start time - though still in plenty of time for the film. Advice? Book in advance & take your own drinks/snacks, better still go somewhere that appreciated your business, Cineworld don't appear to give a stuff. P.S. Life of Pi - great film.
