“Rides closed and kids bored”

★★☆☆☆

written by Tino4444 on 17/02/2018

Roller coasters not working, Viking ship not working and our kids are bored. Okay if you have very small children. Would not recommend and will not be returning. Had better days at the local park.

“waste of time”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 06/09/2015

Still waiting for a reply back from an incident that happened over a month ago!! You pay for your child over 95cm but nearly everything is for over 100cm. Hardly any staff around to go on rides, you have to go round asking and run by 'kids'. Facilities are dirty. :-(

“Rip off!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by MrCamm on 01/01/2015

My family of 4 attended, the park was 95% closed, no visual or verbal notices still charged full price. There was only two rides open and staffed, 3 mazes and a creepy critters shed. When went for a refund I was told that no refunds were given but I could have a complementary ticket for one person. I emailed the office manager and waiting for a reply. My next move is to contact sponsors, proprietor and the Ombudsman regarding their no refund policy. DO NOT ATTEND THIS PARK!

“Unfair reviews nearly put me off”

★★★★☆

written by Fredamay on 12/08/2014

I had purchased a discount family ticket for Twinlakes but after reading reviews on here we nearly did not go. So glad we still went. Twinlakes may mis represent itself in it's publicity as it gives the impression of being similar to Drayton manor - it is not. It is a park for under 13's. It is a brilliant park for under 13's. Take your own picnic and they expect you to with areas everywhere. I went into 3 toilets throughout the day and all were clean or bring cleaned. The staff we met were friendly from parking to cleaning staff. Obviously you will get dusty as they also have large areas with animals in. We saw the keepers caring well and we talked to them about the animals . They were very knowledgable. The only very tiny criticism was the amount of water left in the log flume. You could not sit in it without getting wet. That was before the ride had moved. As it moved it moved from one end to the other and I got off soaked but not from the ride :-( Queues were small on all rides. There was no point when we were bored. There were appropriate rides for different ages in areas so fortunately we could happily have a 9 year and a 12 year old happily entertained at the saw time. Over priced if you pay the on the day price, but we have been about 4 times over the years and have always managed to find an offer. It gets better each time.

“honest opinion”

★☆☆☆☆

written by CarleighBishop on 08/05/2014

I have just returned from Twin Lakes and feel I owe them an apology for my apparently unreasonable high standards. I expected some element of fun and enjoyment for the almost £60 I handed over. Here is what I got: The day started with me deciding that the kids would quite like an ice cream. I promised them one and nipped to the nearby 'Cafe Nero' to purchase the ice creams. I arrived in the cafe and started my 20 minute wait. Now, I do not mind waiting 20 mins for in a que or similar structure but this was just me, alone in the cafe and wondering what was going on. I eventually worked out that I had been foolish and mistaken the fact that all the lights were on to mean the place was open! After seeing the empty till drawer hanging out, I worked out it was not. I returned to my children and explained my mistake. Luckily, it did not matter as they had spotted an ice cream sign by a kiosk a short walk away! We approached the kiosk and discovered that it was closed! 'Never Mind' I told the kids. 'They're is sure to be another one close by!' They're was! and that was closed too! Then we passed a closed ice cream parlour and a closed Grill before I realized stupidity! This was clearly the 'Closed Shop Trail' that we had been walking. The trail was not listed on the map! Lucky we found it! Eventually, we headed back toward a large warehouse looking building(our eyes must have been poor as we could not see any sign posts to aid us in our navigation) and entered into near darkness! We had found the soft play zone! Only this was no normal soft play zone! This was the Worlds first soft AND HARD playzone! We took our shoes off and navigated the mazes of soft floors, hard stairs and routes blocked by drilled on boards of MDF! We managed to avoid the 'Closed' slides whilst sympathising with how difficult it must be to keep a slide working. I mean, I could not begin to understand the technical aspects involved with gravity and sliding. Complex stuff that. We made our way out, took a few moments to clean the crumbs of ready salted crisps that we had amassed on our socks off and headed to Cafe Nero for a coffee, sure that it would now be open! We stood for 10 mins before spotting somebody in a Twinlakes uniform. Worried that I had committed my earlier mistake again, I asked if anyone was working the cafe as we would like a coffee. "The kitchen staff are probably manning the rides" she said... 'OF COURSE THEY ARE SHANE!' I thought, how stupid of me. I had forgotten all about the times I had been doing kitchen work and had to pop out to operate the Nemesis in between cooking chips or blasted Space Mountain off just before serving coffee. Luckily though, all was not lost! This lady informed us that she was a toilet attendant and could "probably" make our coffees if she washes her hands first and can read the buttons as she had forgot her glasses. Its a good job we didnt want to order something from your menu such as chips, chips, chips, chips or chips or we would have been in trouble! Then began an epic battle. One that would last minutes and be embarrassing for all involved. The battle between hard sighted toilet cleaner and basic coffee machine. Luckily, this woman did try her best for us and won the battle. We appreciate her efforts and think that with some training, she could become a fine coffee warrior. After this, we headed to the 'rides'. Now, this is where my high standards kick in. I had seen the website and expected some form of fun. Unfortunately, what was presented was a poor collection of unloved, mistreated and barely working fairground knock offs. The buffalo coaster however was a sight. It seemed to be operated by the Worlds most popular man! I say this as children, everywhere were standing by different rides and just staring at him. It seemed to be in hope, like they were waiting for him... I then realised this man must be extremely amazing as he had sole responsibility for 5 rides! Like some God of Childrens hopes, he decides who rides what and when! (Well, until he is on gardening rota in an hour anyway) I discovered this theme across the whole park, much different to the "1 attendant to 1 ride" method in use at every other place ever. I can see the money this saves has been spent on this years Halloween decorations have been put up 6 months early. I mean, they can not be from last year still? No? the year before? Okay. After getting bored with competing with groups of children for a go on something, we took the train to the other side of the park. We chugged off down a line littered with the petals of thousands of dead flowers, dirty ponds and wasteland before approaching a truly unique sight... The Zip lines with no zip lines. Simply 2 platforms, facing each other, no longer suitable for the zipping of a line. We headed to the Ice rink next and was told it was up some stairs. We managed this bit but failed at the locked door we found at the top. We were not sure whether it was closed or this attraction was another 'Sit and wait, sit and wait, sit and wait and then give up" attraction so we left. We approached the excalibur adventure zone. On the way, we passed a the dungeon attraction... Spotting the change to have an experience on something that we would not have to wait for ages to enjoy, we entered... Now, I will admit that I am new to dungeons. never been one (dungeons and dragons all those years ago excluded) and expected them to be scary places. Not too scary in a kids park, but fun kinda scary. I was wrong and am glad Twinlakes have shown me that dungeons are simply pitch black, MDF mazes with cheap rugs hanging from the roof every so often. I also did not know thatthey are full of people complaining about being ripped off and poor quality attractions! Hopefully, it will be in a pub quiz sometime... The kids entered the western Village but ungratefully, the souvenier splinters they left with were not so welcome. They have been spoken to about their attitude. I do have to say, the way they have managed to recreate the wild west west, complete with Chav graffiti, coca cola cans and nailed down plastic bottles is fantastic and not to be missed! The final act was a good game of "Chase the 20P piece across the floor after every grabber machine spits it out" in the arcade before concluding that this was terrible and deciding to leave. The best part of the day was seeing the peacocks. The worst part of the day was knowing that for what it had cost, I could have bought a peacock. Congratulations Twinlakes on creating a 'Gold' image and charging a Gold price before delivering a lump of coal product. Your marketing team should have a statue erected in the park in their honour, then you could charge people to see it? (Pay Per Vew only. No season ticket holders, fun seekers or happiness allowed.

“dirty, unsafe and amateurish”

★☆☆☆☆

written by andrewredmond on 31/07/2013

Twinlakes in Melton Mowbray is terrible. I took my 3 year old for a day out there recently and after paying a high price to get in was disgusted by what I found. The facilities are dirty, rides are unsafe and in need of repair, and hordes of chavs roam the park, swearing at their kids and being aggressive when attempting to get on the rides. The staff are clueless and rude, nothing is signposted, and the food is slop. Hell on earth was not what I had in mind for a day out.

“Both good and bad points to twinlakes. ”

★★★☆☆

written by on 05/09/2012

We visited twinlakes on the 2nd of September 12. We have been before a couple of years ago the kids loved it! and thought we would give the kids one last treat before returning back to school. There was a lot more things for the kids to do this time being thatblittle bit older, we didn't get chance to do everything. We had a lovely day but one thing kept arising on almost every ride/ area which is every ride was is much need of some maintanace and a good clean and a paint, As for the indoor play areas they were disgustingly dirty everywhere needed a dam good scrub I'm not talking about a weeks worth of dust I'm talking about a few years worth of grime and dust. The mirror maze needed the mirrors cleaning all areas need re painting carpets need hoovering or replacing and the main soft play was so dark kids were scared to go and play more lighting needed. But on a good note the staff all seemed friendly and the kids had a really good day!!!

“Twin Lakes, Melton Mowbray”

written by HelloChris on 28/08/2012

We visited Twin Lakes 27/8/12, 2 adults and a 4 year old. It was fantastic, we had a great day, arrived at 10.30 and left at 5.00 and we did not see everything. Food and drinks are reasonable and the staff are very friendly. We will be visiting again. Thank you Twin Lakes.

“A disappointing day out...”

★★☆☆☆

written by GThornhill on 27/08/2012

Was due to meet friends at Twinlakes today (27/08/2012) and they advised us to book online for a 30% discount. The Twinlakes website was down, and the entire site was unavailable. So after some searching, we found a 25% discount voucher online, but staff wouldn't honour it because today was a "special event day" (which we couldn't possibly have known due to the website being down). So reluctantly paid full entry price - £47 for two adults and one 11-year old. Please be mindful - we don't have ridiculously high standards or expectations, we just wanted a well-priced, fun, family day out. Alas, 'twas not to be. Upon entry we found the pirate ship was closed for "essential" maintenance (despite the fact nobody was working on it), the outdoor dungeon/castle play area was closed off, and a section of the indoor play area was also closed! As if all this wasn't enough, we entered the "Farmhouse of Fear" which was simply a winding corridor plunged into darkness. No scares, no lights, no nothing... Other people were openly calling this poor excuse for an attraction "awful" and a "rip off". The petting/animal area was large, although water bottles were filled with algae and during one section, a handler inadvertantly let several ferrets escape. They were "encouraged" back into their cage with his boot. Questionable professionalism at best, and not a great example for the children watching. We purchased lunch, but there was no salt available for the chips and staff informed us there was no Coca Cola available from the dispenser at the counter. Several of the "grabber" machines weren't working and refused to accept our change (several other customers also commented on this) and probably 75% of the flashing "bulbs" illuminating the Trauma Tower ride didn't work and needed replacing. Finally, one of our friends was pregnant, and there was only ONE ride which she could go on, which had a 20 minute+ wait time. Upon leaving, we raised all these problems with staff at the reception area, who were generally uninterested. They claimed the website problem "wasn't their fault"(!) and they stated they could close any rides at any point without giving any notice. Generally a very uncaring attitude towards prospective repeat customers - they told me to fill in a photocopied form so our issues could be "raised" with the board of directors. Sadly no promise of any return communication. Finally, it's worth noting that the "Twinlakes" logo features the dungeon/castle area (closed), the pirate ship (closed) and a loop-the-loop rollercoaster, which doesn't exist. Very poor mis-representation, and thanks to the high prices, ride unavailability and lapse attitudes from the staff we certainly won't be going back. We've had Drayton Manor recommended to us for a next visit. We spent over £100 today, and I generally wish I could say I'd got a lot more for my money. I'd certainly think carefully before YOU visit Twinlakes!

“Remember to take cash”

★★★★☆

written by on 25/08/2012

We visited Twin Lakes in school hols for first time. Our children aged 7 and 6 thoroughly enjoyed it. Plenty to do queues were not too long but much better after 4pm. Not many cafes take card so need some cash. Toilets not too pleasant.

“A great place for children”

★★★★★

written by HelenKyn on 08/07/2012

I take my daughter who is 2 regularly and to see her face as we drive into the gates at Twin Lakes is such a pleasure. She has hours of fun, from exploring the Creepy Critters, tiring herself out in the soft play areas, riding on the Sand Dune Buggy's and the Caterpillar ride to visiting the farm and animal area, she is in her element. I find the staff helpful and polite and they always have a smile on their face. I'm looking forward to my daughter getting older so she can enjoy even more fun rides and having also taken older children to the park on several occasions, I know that she has many years of fun still ahead. The annual pass is great value for money and we have had so many fun packed days already and I'm looking forward to many more! Thanks Twin Lakes xx

“School Trip”

★★★★★

written by JuliaHancock on 08/07/2012

We visited with 50 Year 6 pupils and had a brilliant day. There was so much to suit all children and the staff were very helpful.I would recommend you take them with shorts and t shirts/towels for the Splash zone-they would ve been quite happy there all day. Ice creams are reasonably priced and we managed to cover nearly all major rides and get back to school in time for the end of the day. Thank you.

“Fabulous Family Day Out!”

★★★★★

written by JuliaMac on 08/07/2012

Had a lovely day out at Twin Lakes once again last week. I take my two daughters as often as I can and we always have a great day. We particularly love the animal area and spend ages in this area. The Pirate ship is another favourite along side the Buffalo ride - i think we went on each 10 times! The indoor barns are great for the girls, and me as I can buy a coffee and chill whilst they run around. My girls are 8 and 11 so I know they are safe and there are plenty of staff around to help. Always find the staff to be really friendly and helpful. My 8 year old cut her knee and they took care of her straight away with first aid and smiles :) Looking forward to our next visit.

“Misleading and terrible”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 08/06/2012

We attempted to use the online system to book and after 3 hours of waiting still no response. Upon arrival we were met by rather stressed out staff and they kept serving others before serving us. We were then told that our 4 year old who is fairly tall had to pay adult price. We were fairly shocked. The jubilee day was advertised as a celebration. Not One flag or reference to the diamond jubilee any where. Our 4 year old was asked to move out of the under 6 play area because she could damage other children which upset her. Long ques food that taste like cardboard and nothing being cheap. Never again thank you x

“TWINLAKE PARK -WORST customer service I have EVER...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 19/12/2011

DO NOT GO TO TWIN LAKES AND EXPECT A GOOD SERVICE - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. We have been a few times at Twin Lakes (which had been ok but very expensive), but not had an encounter with the management, reception or supervisers as we did yesterday (Sunday 18/12/2011). We had just joined TWINLAKE PARK with an annual pass and paid £250 for the familly. They said on the night when we joined - We need some pictures but we dont have the camera today so just bring some next time or something, its fine\" - I walked out with a tiny receipt and nothing else no passes, nothing. Yesterday we decided to go for a couple of hours but we were asked for passes. I explained that their camera had not been working but their policy is THE CUSTOMER HAS TO PROVIDE PICTURES OR THEY HAVE TO PAY AGAIN. So we had to pay and go inside the park and get pictures done and they would refund us. WRONG - The photo booth didn't work. DESPITE THAT THEY WOULDN'T REFUND US. The SUPERVISOR came down and she said the same things that they had to charge us as it was their policy (I was thinking by this point Hitler had some funny policies also but clearly not of the right kind ) The MANAGER came down at last and gues what she suggested - GO DOWN AT TESCOS AND GET THE PICTURES DONE!!!! AFTER AN AWFUL EXPERIENCE AND UTTER DISAPPOINTMENT I HAD TO CANCEL MY MEBERSHIP AND I SHALL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE NEITHER DO I RECOMMNEND ANYONE ELSE TO GO ESPECIALLY HAVING READ HOW THEY TREATED DISABLED PEOPLE ON THE REVIEWS BELOW. SAVE YOURSELF A FORTUNE AND AN IMMINENT AWFUL EXPERIENCE. HAVE FUN ELSWERE. TWIN LAKES IS A MONEYGRABBING ORGANISATION WITHOUT ANY ETHICS OR CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I have an annual pass, and it does state clearly that you need to bring photos in with you on your next visit. And from what you have typed, they did tell you this also at the time. This review has not helped in any way to describe the park, rides, activities or the children experience.

I'd beg to differ with the Guest's comment here.
This is exactly what people look for - real experiences, not just what rides & activities there are. The ride information is on their website.
Here people enxchange their own experiences & usually its the adults and not the children.
Also strange that you have an annual pass and yet look at Twinlake Reviews & also in the process engage and put down valid reviews!

“winter wonderland”

★★★★★

written by on 26/11/2011

Great value for money.. not all rides were open but guess that can't be helped. To be honest could quite happily spend all day indoors. The Santa was lovely very jolly. Although the car park was busy we didn't have long queues for anything at all. We made a point of staying when it got dark just so we could see the lights ale it was worth it. All in all a fantastic day out, not thrill seeking rides but good old fashioned family fun. We'd took a picnic with us but to be honest we won't bother next time as we noticed the price of the food was very reasonable.

“bonfire night”

★★★☆☆

written by millymolly on 25/11/2011

fireworks best I have seen in the UK, absolutely fabulous. Very crowded though. Best to go for at least the afternoon, as we found out nearly everything shuts around 5pm except indoor rides - the Go-Karts even shutting whilst the 10 kids I had taken were queuing. Good value for money though if spending the afternoon there. I would like to see more lighting around some of the rides so that they can be used until 9pm when the event ends, that would make it a perfect evening, the advertising did not make it clear that so much would be shut so early and as I had taken 11 and 12 year olds they were quite disappointed about this.

“Absolutely fantastic”

★★★★★

written by on 16/09/2011

This place is brilliant for all ages, I went last month with my husband and our three children (ranging from 18 months to 10 years) and found that there was something to suit all ages. Initially the staff upon arrival were extremely friendly and helpful, which made a massive difference. The indoor play areas are massive and brimmed full of rides for big ones and little ones, particular favourites of mine were the Trauma Tower, and one of my son's loved the drop slides - but I wasn't quite brave enough for this. There are lots of ourdoor rides, rollercoasters, Pirate Ship, Icarus - a ride that imitaes flying. Moreover, there is also the new log flume which has a massive drop which I loved, and also a splash play area which is apparantly a new addition to the park. The children loved this, there are numerous water slides, paddling area for tiny feet and sun loungers for the parents to relax. Also, there are hundreds of lovely animals, and unusual ones too like the gorgeous meerkats and monkeys along with your traditional farm animals. The Park definitely provides for a full day out for just 12.99 per head, MUCH cheaper than many similar attractions!!! We will certainly be visiting soon, I hear they hold a fright night for halloween which we may check out. All in all a brillaint day out for all ages and as the cliche goes I really could not recommend it strongly enough. Enjoy!
