Avoid tesco insurance, I've been without hot water now for 9 days and had 3different tradesmen out to try and resolve the problem, all tradesman very rude and incompetent passing the buck to each other!!! After numerous calls to telcos I am no further forward, staff in call centre also very rude and unhelpful. We are a family of four having to do without hot water due ti inexperienced lazy tradesman. If you not having hot water is due to your boiler, then it's unlikely to be covered under your home insurance. This is why there is seperate boiler cover out there.

Took over 18 months of ignored letters and phone calls and finally a referral to the financial services ombudsman before they would pay out for a storm damaged skylight. Would not recommend their home insurance to anyone… Read Full Review

I had to recentely make a claim for a damaged tv , well you think I was a criminal after a long phone call to report the damage , was told that i couldn,t claim unless I could provide a receipt for tv , following which i did find and had to post, they then requested a receipt for new tv bought at their store for 299.I heard nothing for 4 weeks after ringing them yet again n passed thou to various depts a phone call lasting over 20 mins was told that they… Read Full Review

18 months later and the extent of damage to my property caused by the companies Tesco have sent is still unresolved and has left us all ill with stress. do not trust Tesco or Cunningham and lindsey, Ive never in 30 years claimed, and what started out as a plee for help on a small queery with a company i thought i could trust has turned into our worst nightmare. The living conditions they have left us in is unnacceptable. They send cowboys and are only interested in taking your money.

After having a problem with a blocked toilet, I called Tesco home insurance. A 'toilet engineer' arrived. And left without clearing the bloackage. She said she would return the following day, but didn't as Tesco had cancelled the call out without telling me. After phoning to speak to their hard of thinking operators, I was told I needed to have a slight leak repaired first, despite there being raw sawage coming out of the pipe above ground level. We had 80mph gusts the weekend before last it managed to remove quite a few of the slates from my roof....probably around twenty or so...I phoned Tesco and they promptly sent out a loss adjuster who said if it had been the wind the tiles would have come off uniformly and not randomly...I never heard of Mother Nature delivering her goods uniformly...and hence it was put down to wear and tear...I thought the whole purpose of insurance was if you went to bed at night and everything was hunky… Read Full Review

I should have read this site before purchasing with Tesco.! Wouldn't give any stars if I had the option. Say NO to Tesco, as they wont pay out.!! We had ridging tiles crash down from our roof and demolish the car on the driveway in 49 mile an hour winds causing £3300 worth of damage. Churchill Insurance were fantastic and, although the car was written off, the management of the situation was excellent and a cheque arrived within a week.

Would not recommend Tesco insurance to anybody. Clearly their business model is set up on ensuring they don't pay out to anybody. We had a definitive claim due to storm damage and it has taken over 3 months and we have still not seen a penny! This is despite a number of reminders and chase up emails. Their 'mandates' all have expiry dates on designed to catch you out so if you do receive any credit notes for replacement carpets etc then they are likely to expire without you noticing… Read Full Review

absolute pants! I would never use them again, the surveyor guy they sent out couldn't even see the tiles off the roof even though it was PLAINLY obvious to the naked eye they were missing. He also said he didn't think that the lead around the chimney which was torn off in the storm was really needed, he "didn't see the point of it really"even though it stops rain coming in & we now have damp walls inside as a result.
I shall be changing my insurer ASAP.

Yes , where do i start , my house was broken into in september 2010 while myself and my familly were in bed .
Cut the long story short , they are all born liars, ive already been given two sets of cowboy loss adjusters who have interigated me to a large extent , to which i have on video and if this aint sorted within a week i will send to the FSO along with my current complaint i already have active .

Still trying to get anything done 7 months after claim.They do not return phone calls or give any update and just keep fobbing me off saying they will have answers shortly. Left with nothing after major fire.

absolutly abysmal.. shed broken into, small claim, they ask for reciepts for tools over 15 years old, they ask for manuals they then take weeks of batting you from pillar to post about your claim. never once have they rang me back when they said, never once have they rang me back at all, 13 phone calls to a prem rate number for over 25 mins. they are a shower of rubbish....please please please do not go with tesco… Read Full Review

I'm only giving them 1 star because I can't make a review otherwise. I took out a tesco "Finest" ha ha in the loosest sense of the word policy back in January 2010. In December I had a leak in my bedroom ceiling which meant my ceiling had to come down. The runaround I have been given since beggars belief. They keep you on the phone for hours and hours and lie like there is no tomorrow. They won't give out details of their managers or chief exec office and put the phone down when u get upset… Read Full Review

Tesco were raising my premium by £5 per month - bear in mind that no claims were made during the period I was with them. I cancelled the direct debit and phoned to cancel. Two week's later a nasty letter received telling me that I needed to pay a charge on £14. When Tesco contacted they said that there was no record of my call and anyway this was a 'cancellation fee' and I would have had to pay this anyway. AVOID Tesco is my advice. Tesco insurance terrible , I have given them no stars , unfortunately I had too make three claims this year, lost holiday due to strikes ,not my fault it took 24 weeks plus countless amount of telephone calls eventually settled, A woman reversed into my wifes car whilst ironically in tesco carPark lost my £250 excess tescos said after a lengthy investigation alledgedly it was a 50/50 claim I eventually got a result on my insurance anniversary so felt compelled to renew because I would be… Read Full Review

“Very disappointed took out top Buidings and contents...”

Very disappointed took out top Buidings and contents made claim because of water damage in rooms and ceilings, initially service was good but then fobbed of to third party UK assist and service went completly downhill, spoke to Tesco but their service and complaint handling was very poor in the end cancelled claim had no confidence whatsoever in third party.

Similar to the previous post, I too was broken into three months ago (early October 10). Despite getting telephone assurances regarding the replacement of (essntial) specific items of my claim in November '10, I am still waiting for some kind of settlement. I have spent seemingly forever on their Customer 'Hotline'(my record is a mere 55minutes) but, as yet, I still have been unable to speak to a human being.

“the worst experience of my life... the customer...”

the worst experience of my life... the customer service is a disgrace and they all have an i dont care attitude, they use cowboy loss adjusters and pay out on terrible mandates which severely limit your choices when replacing items
dont expect anything but pain from these cowboys,
pay a little more or even the same price and use a reputable direct company,
even complaining about the service gets you no place fast, my small claim has gone on for 10 months,
