“Bad Service”

They automatically renew your policy even if you cancel then charge you for it. then they have the cheek to ask you to prove you took out another policy with another company. They make you do all the running round for their mistakes. customer service staff hang up on you and then claim they dont know how that happened either.

“Cheap insurance”

I bought a policy from Masterquote as I got a cheap price from their website and liked that I could make payment over the phone and speak to a person. After reading the other reviews I was abit reluctant to buy but with the saving of £156 vs. my current insurer and having spoken with a friendly person I am glad I went for it.

“Bad serivce”

Having a policy with this company I decided to end the insurance due to a change in car and the premiums rising. I took my new policy with a better company and was told by the new company I could not use my no claims due to the Master Quote not cancelling my previous policy, however I has already been refunded the monies owed by Master Quote. On phoning Master Quote about this I was told to ring back, to which I did three more times. They told me they had E-Mailed my no claims to my personnel E-Mail account, it was after the fourth phone call I eventually got proof of my No claims discount E-Mailed to my account. Luckily I was just within the 21 days I have to prove my no claims to my new insurance company. I find it very difficult to apprehend why it is so hard to simply email or post someone’s No Claims bonus. Thank god the UK does not rely on Master Quote to fight a war!

“not even my insurer”

I have had a letter from "master quote" asking for a copy of my driving license and paper copy of my driving license and I'm not even insured with them? Do not go any where near them, my insurance is with a completely different company all together!

“Threatening Behavior”

Stay away from Masterquote. Lots of hidden costs, hugh cancellation fees and very threatening behavior. In their first letter to me asking to settle the difference I was threatened with legal action and action to affect my credit rating. PLEASE STAY AWAY, learn from my mistake.

“it is a froud!!!!”

i have insured my car,got the hard copy a week later,payed full amount of money.2 weeks later ive got a letter!!!dated a week ago that was saying the insurance will be cancelled and giving me 2 days to react!!what if i was away.it appeared there was a mistake on the site allowing me to insure a car that wont be kept at the same adress over night!!!same mistake though was confirmed on the paper form!!!13 days later still havent got my refund back!!!there are real froudsters,DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM!!!!!!

“Van hit while stationary got witnesses but m/quote...”

My van was hit while stationary i wasnt in it but have myself and 2 independant witneses.Because the other driver wont tell his insurance what happened or reply to them,Masterquote want me to use my no claims to get my van repaired and wait to try to get it back off the other party.This may be common practice, but in the 6 weeks since it happened they have not rung me or sent me a letter once.I have rung them many times but i do not know why i came to use a company who cares not in the least.There is over a £1000 worth of damage to my van with 2 witnesses photos and even paint from the other car left on my van.My insurance have done nothing-Tnanks Master Quote.

“Fraudsters! ”

I took insurance out with Masterquote because I drive a pick up and it's hard to get normal insurance companies to insure it and they found one who would. At first the premium was around £500 but then they failed to take the money out of my account one month and claimed that I had defaulted! When I tried to put this right they said that I would have to go through a whole new claim! And guess what, this time the premium was for over £800! I agreed to pay it monthly by direct debit. That was in February 2011. Last week my husband noticed that 3 payments of £79 had gone out to premium credit on the same day. We had never heard of them. I have now discovered that the insurance premium was paid off in one go by this credit company and they have today sent me contracts to sign for the loan we now have with them! I have cancelled everything and reported MQ to the financial ombudsman who are going to complain on my behalf. MQ have charged me £70 to cancel but I hope to have that refunded. So all in all I wouldn't touch Masterquote with a barge pole!

“After being with this company for over 10 years they...”

After being with this company for over 10 years they recently opened a credit company who handle their money, I was not aware of this until this year as I always paid BDML on te same day for the past 10 years directly.

I am now being charged and charged again (or they are trying to) because they changed the collection date and although promised never changed the date to what we had agreed, now they are trying to charge me £20 for being in default which I am not because the payment is NOT DUE YET.

I have been with this company for years and they have always been a good company but in the past year the have turned. I have had no claims in all the years I have been driving and it goes to show that it does not pay to be a good driver.

For all those out there looking for car insurance do not go to Masterquote or BDML, go somewhere else as you will be ripped off and victimised. Times are hard enough these days without finance and insurance companies adding charges upon charges for things that are not right, its immoral and illegal and as far as they are concerned a license to print money.

I would of given no stars if possible, I used this company then come renewal I had sold the vehicle insured by them. I cancelled the policy but they ignored this and continued to take payments for the policy. They would not refund me and went on to try and sue me for the remainder of the policy. However, this is the good bit, the car they had insured no longer existed as I had removed my private plate months before, thus making the vehicle none existent on the police database. I am currently processing a complaint through the financial ombudsman and small claims court.

I believe they are bullies and would advise anyone I knew to avoid them at all costs!!!

DO NOT USE THIS INSURANCE COMPANY!
TOO EXPENSIVE!
There are by far cheaper insurance companies you could choose from, providing the same BAD service!

the Good: no long waiting time to get through to a UK sustomer service helpline.

the Bad: too expensive, you could easily find yourself ending up with a higher premium than initially quoted. In my case they made changes AFTER the first two week. Unfair yes, and I had the choice to cancell, whichcomes with a fee.

the Worst: unethical in their pricing policy

My experience with Masterquote Car Insurance has left me feeling they are a very expensive and not a customer friendly organisation, and whilst I hope I don't have any claim I would have grave concerns over how they would deal with (or not deal with) it and that they would try to evade responsibility at any costs. Watch out particularly if you are thinking of taking out a new policy for their 9 year no claims policy - most insurers operate on 5 years and they will only give you confirmation of that which means Masterquote might hike your premium significantly because of this if you say you have maximum discount when applying.

MasterQuote car insurance are the worst insurance company I have ever dealt with. They do not send your documentation and therefore you have problems re-taxing your vehicle. Customer services are full of promises but don't deliver. I would hate to think what would happen if I were to try to make a claim!!

I totally agree. All I wanted to do was cancel my insurance with them. I phoned at 5:45 on my return from work. I was told I would get a call back; I didn't so I phoned them. I was told someone would call me back in half an hour; they didn't so I called them. I was told I would be called back before 8pm (when they close) it got to 7:55pm so I called them, I was put on hold for 3 minutes then cut off. I phoned back and was told the lines are now closing and I would have to wait till the next day. Each time I phoned to get information I got a machine saying 'We are experiencing higher than normal calls please try again later'.

I used MasterQuote Car Insurance due to a mistake made by my last insurance broker (Norwich Union), but I am now looking to change to someone else ASAP, now my insurance with MasterQuote is due for renewal. They told me that the breakdown cover was free, but then on my next quote I realised I may have paid for it anyway.

I completely agree with this review - this company did not send out my documents either although they will try to tell you otherwise - avoid this company at all costs. Customer services full of false promises.
