“Waste of Money”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 1967Sandoval on 31/05/2015

I feel completely ripped off. £87 a ticket is not my idea of reasonable for a show let alone a show of such low calibre. The children's parts on Friday 29th were cringe-worthy. I've seen better singing and acting in a school play. Then the grown-up Simba must clearly have been new to the stage. He was dreadful. The puppets were really annoying and badly done. The producers need to be fired. The person in charge of the fall landings as well. He botched the second one up seriously. Gosh, how can they charge so much money for this. Milking the tourists?? I think so. Do yourselves a favour. Choose another West End show. This one is seriously awful. If I could I'd demand a refund of my money for wasting precious hours of my life.

“Asking for donations=disappointing”

★★★☆☆

written by ttKrause25 on 19/03/2015

show was excellent, the lighting perfect. The costumes beautiful. The orchestra on key. The closing sales pitch and asking for donations by having people stand and ask for anything even change a total disappointment. Having paid $609 for tickets $100 for souvenir and $39 on snacks. I'm sure those profits could go towards the charity of your choice rather than make me feel obligated to show that I care by giving more. The way it was handled was not what I would expect from The Lion King production. I considered the production a high quality and high class show but unfortunately the whole show was overshadowed by the request for change or donations. I felt like I was at church when they bring out the basket for the second offering. I would have liked to know that the shows plead for their charity after the show. “Stunning”

★★★★★

written by Angels Sin on 09/09/2014

This show gives me goose bumps! The costumes are stunning, in fact the whole show is a visual treat, add to that a couple of the performers have beautiful singing voices and the acting is very good. Brown Lindiwe Mkhize who plays Rafiki is something really special, her voice is incredible, it gave me chills, but she's also funny and warm and brings the whole show together. If you're in London looking for things to do, this show is a must.

“Amazing trip to the World of Africa”

★★★★★

written by stgiles2013 on 03/09/2013

"The Lion King Musical" is one of the "must-see" attractions of London. The story of little lion Simba, growing up as the future King, is highly moving and not only designed for children. The actors and actresses do an amazing job and are really talented. The Lyceum Theatre itself is worth seeing as it is only for "The Lion King" performances and therefore has an African touch. As soon as the first scene starts you feel yourself sent to the African desert. You could see that the producers really tried to make the musical very detailed, having put a lot of effort into creating the stage set and the costumes of various animals participating in the musical. Furthermore, the music is haunting. When I went home after having seen the Musical, I couldn't stop listening to my favourite songs for days. Nevertheless, tickets are quite expensive so you either have to book them in advance, or hope that you will get a good ticket if you try to buy it the day you want to go. Expect to pay at least £40 if you want to have a seat without a restricted view. But let me tell you that it is really worth seeing and it was among the best experiences I had in London.

“Absolute merde!”

The Lion King was the work of satan. Nowt else to say except it looked like the costumes had been nicked off a hobo. Devil-worshippers!

“The standard must have changed!”

★★☆☆☆

written by Angieboo2 on 15/01/2013

Went to see the Lion King 12th January as this show had been recommended by a few friends and family. Must say we were disappointed as the performance lacked several of the highlights that we were told to expect. We had very good aisle seats but the show had obviously change from the original as our performance did not match that of our friends and family feedback and the performers really did not lift the show. We were not alone in our disappointment as the faces on others leaving the theatre looked pretty glum!

This show is spectacular. Very creative and colorful costumes, clever dancing and overall a delightful performance. I really felt like I was transported to aftrican landscapes. The plot we all know, but it was done very well..

I have just watched the lion ling at bristol and having seen many shows this is the worst. Costumes looked very poor and the singing even poorer I nearly fell asleep it was boring. Having paid £75 for this show I felt very dissapointed.

“Amazing, awsome, magnificent!!!!”

★★★★★

written by BasilBuster on 29/06/2012

We saw this production on 27th June 2012 as a class because our topic in school was Africa. We all enjoyed the show and thought it was the best musical ever! The opening scene was one of the best bits because the character Rafiki's singing was sensational and so powerful. We loved seeing all the animals walk through the audience to get on stage, especially the elephant and the giraffes as the costumes were stunning and very colourful. Some of our favourite characters included Rafiki, Zazu, Timone and Pumba because they were so funny and entertaining but all the actors did a great job. The scenery was eye catching, colourful and very effective. We all thoroughly enjoyed the show and would definitely recommend it to anyone, both adults and children. Go and see it!!!!!

“Lion King on Broadway was Fantastic”

written by medman79 on 16/06/2012

My date surprised me with tickets to a broadway show, The Lion King. I had seen the Disney version years ago but the musical was even better. I may even let my date "surprise" me again if it goes this well.

“BRILLIANT!!!”

I went to see The Lion King a while back and it was absolutely Amazing! The Puppetry was brilliant and the singing, dancing and acting was equally as good. I would recommend everyone that loves musicals and The Lion King to go and see this. Although the seats that I had had a restricted view, I still managed to enjoy it greatly.

“What a disappointment”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Bigbirdlarry on 04/09/2011

Having been lucky enough to see five different West End productions (Jersey Boys, Les Miserables, Wicked, Billy Elliot) over the past year, the Lion King stood out for being way below the others in terms of the standard of the performances and for the behaviour of the audience. The actors seemed bored and although the costumes were lovely, the singing was not. There was so little energy and enthusiasm in this production, compared with all the other shows. The behaviour of some members of the audience was also dreadful; some talked throughout, very young children cried, others were on their phones. Many went out to the toilets during the production and some did so by climbing over the seats beside us in both halves of the production. Although I think that the show could be potentially as good as the other shows I have seen, this particular cast needs a shake up.

Well 3 years on, I have just been to see the lion king on its tour, in liverpool. I have wanted to see the show for a long time now, but sadly I have to agree with all your comments. It felt more like a pantomime, with very little energy in the acting & singing. I have also never been to a show with such a bad mannered audience. Lots of talking and bored fidgity children. One such child behind us was so bored he decided it more fun to put popcorn in our hair and continually kick the back of the chair. I am such a big musical fan but this was a big dissapointment.

“There seem to be more bad reviews than good reviews....”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 06/05/2011

There seem to be more bad reviews than good reviews. To be honest, I am not really surprised. This seemed very cheap and amateurish. With the exception of a few good costumes and animals, I thought this show was a complete let-down. What have the critics been watching?? Seriously??
This is only going to disappoint nostalgic theatre. I hated the singing (except adult Nala, she was good, she practically saved the show) the puppets were annoying, the music was slow at times and off-pitch.
I won't speak for everyone else, you may like it, you may not. I didn't like it at all. I will just stick to the movie because this show has been running for some time and has not had the slightest hint of improvement when they had all that time to do it.

“We were extremley disappointed with this production. ...”

written by radioroyfromBarrieOntario on 02/05/2011

We were extremley disappointed with this production. We have seen the Lion King when it first came out a couple of years ago. The costumes and the lack of performers were NOT up to par. The costumes were old and some of them looked like they could come from the set of Poke-A-Roo. Would NOT recommend this production.
Extremly DISAPPOINTED!

“I have ordered tickets for different broadways and...”

★★★★★

written by pronak on 19/04/2011

I have ordered tickets for different broadways and concerts from onthebroadway.com many times and every time I got good feedback. The customer service of this company is very helping. This company always offers lion king tickets on discounted rates and what we need. There are no any hidden charges and if any mistake happens they change the lion king tickets without charging extra fees. I want to say that everyone should order tickets from onthebroadway, no one else can provide better services than that. Amazing service in all ways!
