“Getting worse”

★★☆☆☆

written by 270Soto on 03/08/2022

The staff are very good - they were wonderful all through lockdown very helpful. If the store wasn't so close to home I would never go in there. The quality of the produce is really poor. I have started buying most of my groceries from Lidl, where they have a wider selection of better quality produce, even though it's further for me to drive. Unfortunately Sainsbury's put more focus on the additions of Argos and Starbucks than on the core market.

“Assaulted by Staines security guard ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by sledger1uk on 19/10/2021

Security Guard with no grounds made false claims and twice punched me in the face in the carpark/ He was not wearing bodycam and there was no CCTV where he punched me and the Police said no evidence his word against mine. The Guards failed to identify himself 3 times and went back the following day with concealed movie camera and he retreated away saying hew as dialling 999 and then pulled my camera out put his picture on local media in appeals for witnesses. CCTV was not forthcoming from Sainsburys so went back a week later retraced my steps making a video of the location and absence of CCTV cameras at exit and engaged nobody. A manager appeared from out of sight and confronted me and would not enter dialogue but dialled 999 making false claims all recorded on video and said I would be arrested when the Police arrived all recorded on video and issued a banning notice to a nameless person. Total discreace and offered a copy of the video to ho who supported the guard and banning order based on what.

“Treated like dirt”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Pope4 on 22/03/2020

As a regular weekly delivery customer with no warning there are no available delivery slots. I have just waited 1 hour on the phone to let them know I am registered disabled to be told you have to register tomorrow on the website as we don't have access today. I asked for a refund on my delivery pass and was told if it was purchased more than 14 days ago then no. In my mind they don't have any respect for their former ! loyal customers.

“Lazy inattentive staff, long queues at checkouts”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Fussyfellow on 07/07/2019

I tend not to use Sainsburys, but over the last two days I have had cause to visit the West Swindon store twice. No problem with finding the items I was seeking, but the checkouts are a farce. So much so that over the two visits I have literally wasted half an hour of my life. Was the store busy on either occasion? No, not really. On the first occasion the store manager opened a till and worked checkout himself, which was pretty good except that within visible distance several members of the store's staff were simply standing and chatting. On the second occasion, again the trolleys were queued across the aisle waiting to get to the checkout. After ten minutes I gave up and went to the self serve till (why should we be expected to do Sainburys job for them? - we don't get a refund for using those tills) and, as I had purchased alcohol a store assistant came over to verify my age (as should of course be the case) all fine except for the greeting "are you alright, what's the problem" - well nothing other than the law stipulates the store checks my age and that I had waited for the assistant to turn up for five minutes. I grew up shopping at Sainsburys and until recent years it was always my store of choice. Sadly not these days. Sainsburys has suffered a considerable fall from grace in my eyes as my experiences over the last two days, sadly, reflect the general levels of service. Sorry Sainsburys, but you really should do better than this - a lot better

“AK Baby food”

★★★★★

written by on 03/07/2019

I asked member of staff where fresh baby food could be found he took me to aisle really friendly and nothing was to much trouble. I found what I was looking for in aisle straight away the layout was very self explanatory. They had lots of stock with good dates so got flavours I wanted. self checkout was not very busy so it all went smoothly and I was on my in no time.

“Having both removed the Customer Service area from the...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by gmDugan10 on 18/02/2019

Having both removed the Customer Service area from the store in Swadlincote and taken the decision to cease manning the Customer service checkout, it seems that Sainsbury is going completely automated. Unfortunately, I find that, having little to no sense of touch on my right hand, it's almost impossible to use the self-service checkout. This morning I was laughed at for my efforts to use the touch screen by a member of staff who thought it was "funny" (in her words) to "watch me struggling". She made no offer of help to me, or to apologise for her mockery when I informed her that i could not use the screen....she even went over to her colleague in the tobacco kiosk to re-tell the "hilarious" 'story of this "idiot" whom she'd just told off for misuse of the self service checkout! I was standing right behind her as she insulted and further mocked me to this individual In this day and age, discriminatory behaviour and language needs to be wiped out and I for one will gladly avoid all Sainsbury stores until their values more closely reflect those of a civilised society

“Sainsbury's”

★★★☆☆

written by Barrsx176 on 28/06/2017

Overall, a good supermarket, but forced politeness can have the opposite effect if the customer is expected to have an exaggerated response in return, to a simple hello from the staff. Not all people will respond with an enthusiastic hello to mirror yourself, some are more comfortable with a slight smile and nod. There is no need to become too absorbed in yourself, to bark hello again, just to get an answer from the customer.

“The product reviews are fake on sainsburys site. Nuff said”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ixGillespie222 on 22/02/2017

They heavily censor the product reviews, which means lo and behold everything has *good* reviews. Any company that resorts to dirty tricks is a company to avoid. The fat cats who run the dump don't give a damn.

“disgraceful service ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 15/10/2016

Ordered ps4 console for my grandson for Christmas. Order cancelled day before collection. Told not in stock despite plenty of the item in the store. They would not honour the price i ordered for. Their customer care department were useless, could not care at all. Cannot believe how pathetic and uncaring they were. Avoid this company.

They have the best fresh fruit and vegetables. Also an excellent frozen range and chilled range. Cupboard essentials are great. Household cleaning essentials are fab. They always have very good offers. Great customer service too.

“Empty and expensive !!”

★★☆☆☆

written by Geosort on 20/07/2016

Why is my local Sainsbury's superstore always empty. Looking at the prices you can get most of the items elsewhere at a much lower price generally in a store that's modern 'open for business' and not a 1980's 'time warp'. I did used to enjoy my Sainsbury's experience but it really is struggling to keep up with the competion. I like a store that's vibrant, open and luring me into shopping experience. Sorry Sainsbury's it just not happening.

“Banned from Sainsburys”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Hugoc491 on 11/07/2016

If I could give one star I would. I've been banned for life from Sainsburys. Did I shoplift? Assault security? Defecate in the aisles? No, I was alerting customers to John West tunas destructive fishing methods which Sainsburys are doing nothing about. Waitrose and Tesco have agreed to stop selling John Wests if they do not abide by their promise to end destructive fishing. They are indifferent to the environmental damage of by catch. Lord Sainsbury is a major funder of "progress" the Labour affiliated think tank behind the coup against Corbyn. Another reason to despise this revolting corporation.

“I tried elsewhere, and realised its not so bad after all!”

★★★☆☆

written by noodled on 11/02/2016

Recently been having groceries delivered by Sainsbury's as I am disabled and currently not up to walking much at present. I hadn't really been over-impressed - my local store is a very poor store, has some lines you would expect completely missing - (eg. English cheeses are pretty much limited to bog-standard "mousetrap" Cheddar, unlike at other branches in the city!), so, I wished I had a choice of which branch the orders come from, and for this reason thought I would do an order from Asda instead, as I know that store has a much wider range. It has put things in perspective though, as 45 items were ordered and 10 were missing - 10 CRUCIAL items, meaning I have now to do a shop tonight, and I am really NOT up to it. This hasn't been happening at Sainsbury's up to now, all the items have been there, AND I have also had several good vouchers delivered offering substantial future savings too, meaning their usually higher prices do become significantly more realistic. With Sainsbury's I feel confident in knowing what is likely to arrive, unlike with Asda. Think I will be back to using Sainsbury's next time, the range there isn't the best, but at least it arrives!

“It's a bit of a joke! ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Tyreen87 on 04/02/2016

C'mon Sainsburys sort it out. I'm on my 5th complaint regarding your pickers putting items from fruit and veg to dairy in bags with RAW meat. Your staff training clearly needs looking at. I have small children, who I don't particularly want to give food poisoning too and your constant bribes of £10 vouchers don't clear up the fact, your staff are repeating the same old mistakes WEEKLY.

“Bread at 45p per slice”

★☆☆☆☆

written by nickst17 on 23/01/2016

Sainsbury's Longwater retail park, Norwich.........went in there earlier with other half for a bite to eat. Ordered a big brunch as well a lasagne plus drinks and was asked if I wanted bread and butter.......so said yes and was given a small pack of butter and told that the bread would come with the meal.......and thought nothing more of it. When the food came, there sat one solitary slice of bread on a plate........then my other half told me that had cost 45p. 45p for a single slice of bread, when they are selling a full, sliced loaf downstairs in the supermarket for the same price!!!!! I have heard the term rip-off Britain and am acutely aware of blatant greed, but I would love to know how on Earth Sainsbury's can justify this? You leave yourselves wide-open to ridicule and deservedly so. Next time I may as well buy a full loaf downstairs before going up to eat and enjoy several slices of bread for the same price.
