I love to shop at Moorgate Marks and Spencer at weekends, because it is so quiet and peaceful! I always go there for my Xmas shopping to avoid the hustle and bustle of Marble Arch and Oxford Street… Read Full Review

A good Marks and Spencer shop at Moorgate, but I think some of the staff could do with a little extra training and learn the names of the products that they are selling.

Silk and Wool does not mean Polyester, Cashmere is not Marino Wool Mix...Leather is not Plastic and a Suspender Belt is not a thing used in car Engines. Cognac is not Vodka, and toilet tissue is not wrapping paper...please give me a break...help not hinder… Read Full Review

“Marks and Spencer good points: A wide range of...”

Written on: 02/12/2008 by daisybee (2 reviews written)

Marks and Spencer good points: A wide range of high-quality products, including clothing and food. Plenty of large stores around, mostly with ample parking. Better and more varied designs these days. No-quibble returns.

The bad points are: They often have offensively inconvenient store layouts, where you have to walk right to the back of the store to pay - usually after queuing for quite a long time. I feel this is a stupid policy, particularly as it makes it highly unlikely that customers… Read Full Review

I totally disagree partly with what this lady says. I feel the quality of goods in Marks and Spencer since they came from the Far East (one country in particular) has gone downhill and so many women and men I have found totally agree with me that they will never buy clothing from there again. When the goods were MADE IN THE U.K. you could not fault the quality at all, in fact I have clothing that I wear often that was bought from M and S and MADE IN THE U.K. and I wear it with PRIDE. I am proud of items that I buy that are made in our country and more people to continue looking. I am thinking that a lot of the jobs that are going now and people being made redundant is that so many companies have taken their work stations to the Far East.

I have even seen shoes, bags, scarves, socks (badly finished), belts MADE IN CHINA. Northampton was a Boot and Shoe County so it is awful to see an England based store having shoes from the Far East.

I wish people in this government etc would realise what is actually happening to all the people in this country and the country. I bought a handbag yesterday and could not fault it and purchased it again with PRIDE and it has been MADE IN THE U.K.

“I ordered a tankini set online from Marks and Spencer...”

Written on: 31/10/2008

I ordered a tankini set online from Marks and Spencer and it was delivered the next day - great. I was going on holiday the following week so didn't feel I had much time and usually the local stores don't have all stock.

The bottoms fit but I could not get the top over my shoulders despite it being the same size as my bra (a size that I had previously had confirmed at a bra fitting at the Marks and Spencer Store).

When trying to get it over my shoulders it left some faint white lines - not… Read Full Review

LOVE the shop - especially the coffee shop, could stay in there all day.
HATE the car parking - have had to leave baby in road in car seat as couldn't fit it back into the car, then reverse out a little to get room. I think M&S (and all other supermarkets) should police their Mother and Baby spaces more vigorously as they do the Disabled spaces.
I AM INDIFFERENT about the web service - good for stuff and sizes you can't find in their stores, but disappointing delivery times in my experience… Read Full Review

I drifted away from Marks and Spencer for a while but have now seen the light and returned. I feel there is no comparison on the high street.
Prices have no 99p tags.
Service is the best around.
Clothes are stylish, good quality and classy.
Cafe's are great.
If they don't have it in, it will be delivered to your home very quick… Read Full Review

“I tend to shop at Marks & Spencer mostly at lunch,...”

Written on: 24/10/2006 by Moushka D (20 reviews written)

I tend to shop at Marks & Spencer mostly at lunch, sometimes food shopping and also for clothes/shoes. The main reason for this is that there are two stores near where I work (Fenchurch Street and Moorgate) and one at my station (Simply Food London Bridge). There are also two near where I live (Croydon, Bromley).

A year or so ago M&S went downhill, I would only buy food and lunch from there and lingerie but it's upped its game this year again!

So far I have happily bought bras, knickers… Read Full Review

Written on: 16/05/2006 by SPINMATICS (1 review written)

The furniture I ordered from Marks & Spencer looked so attractive in the showroom. However, after some time the leather wore to such a degree on one seat cushion, that their assessor upheld a complaint that the product was defective. After being advised by a customer service adviser over the phone, that if the claim was upheld they would refund the purchase price of the defective item and the two other items purchased at the same time (as replacing the defective chair with another may mean that… Read Full Review

Marks & Spencer is not the place to queue up for your lunch sandwiches as it is very obvious that some staff do not want to be there. If you spend too much time browsing and change your mind, the security here will watch you and make no attempt to conceal it… Read Full Review

Written on: 17/06/2005 by hackneyguy (12 reviews written)

As a regular food buyer - I get ALL my food either at a local store (Hackney) or one of the excellent new food only outlets (esp the one at Liverpool Street, Station). Mark and Spencer's Quality can not be faulted - yep it costs a bit more but hey its very good.
Shame the same can not be said for the fashion - esp the mens clothes. Very 1950s and would not look out of place in a "Are you being served?" episode.
Furnishing depart started off promising now very cottagey - OK for some but we… Read Full Review

I never shop at Marks and Spencer but I went in there looking for a wedding present for friends that were getting married that day. I was speaking to a member of staff who was putting stock out about a present I had received that was a hamper of food and drinks for the couple. The lady was very helpful and gave me some great ideas and helped me put it all together for a reasonable price… Read Full Review

“Marks and Spencer is a new shop in an up and coming...”

Written on: 13/07/2004 by Diane Brown (1 review written)

Marks and Spencer is a new shop in an up and coming retail park in Speke , Liverpool . Window display is uninviting and compares badly with the Next shop, which is almost next door. There does not seem to be much coordination in the way the clothes are displayed. Bright and colorful clothes only available in small sizes. Similar products of comparable quality are cheaper in other shops on the park. Nothing much available in size 18 and above and what is available is too dull and ageing ( and I… Read Full Review

“We have recently experienced a problem with our seat...”

Written on: 16/06/2004 by stanjacko50 (1 review written)

We have recently experienced a problem with our seat cushions on one of our Marks & Spencer, Abbey sofas (leather). After just 8-9 months the corners of the foam have turned hard - this gives a lumpy look to the corners of the cushions. M&S cust services have had one of the cushions collected (the worst one) and sent away for testing (which took THREE weeks and we weren't given a temporary replacement cushion). The cushion was returned after 3 weeks in exactly the same condition and they say… Read Full Review

Written on: 06/06/2004 by Curlzy (4 reviews written)

Marks and Spencer - I am a 30-year young, fashion conscious woman, with a size 24 figure and a 42 E-F cup bra. It is becoming increasingly hard to find young and trendy / glamorous items of clothing on the high street. The only shop that I go to regularly is Evans. Why oh why does M&S not cater for us big and beautiful women?? We like to dress well!!! Don't we girls??? I really love the items that M&S sell in their Per Una range. Gorgeous, feminine items, which would look great on me if they… Read Full Review

Marks & Spencer Suits are called ITALIAN, but there are no suits made in Italy in there, what's the point of paying 200 pounds then to get one from M&S?
Food prices go up all the time, customers don't even notice when they always buy the same products (start keeping an eye on it!).
Some food items are packed in a way that makes the quantity of the product look more than what it really is! (Eg. Salmon, the bottom of the package is not straight; some of the ready-made sandwiches, the Tortilla… Read Full Review

I have to agree.. As a larger, full bodied female of size 24 (42 E-F cup bra). I love the Per Una range, and they do not cater for us. The range of larger sizes are very boring indeed, very 'mumsy'. I am a 30 year old fashion conscious woman.... Please try to cater for us out there!!!!!

Written on: 28/01/2004 by dinahdoll (12 reviews written)

Having been a big Marks and Spencers fan for years, I have to say I think their standard of customer service has gone down. Recently I had reason to take an item back for a refund, whilst in the Aylesbury, Bucks store I was sent upstairs to customer services, they could not help me, I was told to go downstairs to the information desk, this assistant was quite sarcastic to me and I was promptly told to go back upstairs to the finance desk. When I got there I was so stressed by it all, my… Read Full Review
