“Harry Corner sofa”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 6753 on 17/12/2023

The worst most uncomfortable sofa. Ruins every night. Recently purchased for over 500 pounds. Unfortunately I was not in for delivery and the person that was did not test it! Just threw away the packaging so now I'm stuck with it. Really depressing. Never trust argos furniture.... 25 years since I last bought from them! I learnt this 25 years ago. So frustrating that I've had to relearn it as now I also have to live with it

“Dreadful returns policy”

★☆☆☆☆

written by PeterJKing on 27/10/2023

It all seems so convenient: order on line and it's delivered to my local Sainsbury's. But a desk lamp that I'd ordered suddenly stopped working, and I needed to return it. Of course it's not possible to arrange this via e-mail or an on-line form -- that would be too convenient. Instead I have to 'phone (and not Freephone, either). After the usual automated maze, including the giving of information that will be asked for again, I finally get through to a person. I explain, and there's no problem -- I simply have to take the item to an Argos shop. No, I can't post it to Argos. No, I can't return it to the Sainsbury's where I collected it. No, I can't post it to the nearest Argos shop. I have to take it in person, ten miles (ignoring traffic problems, especially in the town) to Witney. So, leaving aside the rigmarole on the 'phone, in order to return a defective item I have to drive more than twenty miles at my own expense and in my own time, and pay for parking in Witney, despite the existence of the Post Office and a local Sainsbury's. I'll not be using Argos again.

“fake reviews”

★★☆☆☆

written by Mayraq101 on 16/07/2023

Argos invite to write reviews but appear to REJECT most negative ones - not to be trusted. The end result of course is generally positive reviews with the odd negative one.

“Don’t bother buying ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Lovezs447 on 30/03/2023

Bought the habitat Brooklyn single bed and it’s rubbish didn’t even last 2 years and the frame is broken. The bed it’s self wasn’t great either not comfortable and squeaks loads. All Argos will do is send spare parts out which is basically the whole bed base. I asked for someone to come out to fix it as this is an option as it’s still under warranty and they said it’s not possible and it’s not a manufacturer issue I’d love to know what it as the whole frame broke on one side of the bed

“No communication, No delivery, No stock, No idea”

★☆☆☆☆

written by DimeBar1969 on 23/11/2022

No delivery, no communication. On the 17th November I placed an order online, for the item to be collected on the 21st November. The 21st came and went and still no communication from Argos. My order never arrived at the store and it was left to me to ask for a refund. No communication at all from Argos. In the end I ordered the same product from Cu#rys and collected it the next day. I should have gone there in the first place I suppose.

“Avoid, Avoid, Avoid! Poor quality products! ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by EveMagiera on 31/01/2022

This shop was used to good quality and if the product broke or was low quality you could return it with no issue. Now the quality of their products is very low. Children bike (purchased in December 2021 for Christmas gift) is literally falling apart, all pieces are wobbly, steering wheel is unstable, little pieces falling off and Argos wont accept return. Their supplier shifts blames on customer (they say the boke is well worn...3 weeks after purchase... what 2,5 year old can wear off bike after 3 weeks???). It wasn't cheap either, over 100 pounds. Very poor quality service, awful product quality, AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!

“Poor and difficult customer service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ThetfordLad on 11/11/2021

Purchased a set of 3 electronic timers - ordered online, collected in store. One of the three didn't work. Rather than agreeing a partial refund for the one that didn't work, online customer 'service' insisted that I could only get a refund at the store - at great personal inconvenience - 7-mile round trip, time, diesel etc. Craziness - added emissions, waste of time, leaves a bad feeling. Argos Customer Service - unable to use common sense!

“Difficult to return item”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Howardr281 on 01/08/2021

I purchase a mobile phone from Argos, it was faulty. I rang their customer helpline and had a very unsatisfactory phone call with a gentleman. He told me to take the email order to the store. I explained that was not possible as the email would be accessible through the phone, which was faulty. He simply repeated the response approximately 15 times. I repeatedly told him I would be unable to do that and eventually he told me to take it to store with the order number, however, he then told me they "might tor might not take it back". The conversation was very disappointing and did not provide a clear answer. I rang again and spoke to somebody different who was very helpful, he gave me the number for Nokia, the product manufacturer, and explained the process, whereby, they would repair replace or authorise a refund - problem sorted. The difficulty I have with this is that some while ago I purchased a different item, a duvet storage bag, and found upon opening the packet that the zip was broken. I duly returned it for a refund - I chose a refund as at that point as the faulty zip had raised quality concerns. I explained to the lady who served me that it was found to be broken "at point of opening" her response was "yeah, right, I bet it was". I was refunded but promised myself that I would not shop at Argos again - a promise I should have recalled prior to ordering the phone. The bottom line is that I am sufficiently unhappy with the customer service that Argos that I will not shop there again, and I will not forget this time. The keystone of service from anyone we buy from, as consumers, is customer service and poor customer service is the greatest deterrent to a consumer. On that basis, and given my poor experiences I would not recommend this company.

“Shocked by Argos irresponsibility.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by richardbrown2001 on 23/07/2020

Alerted them to a faulty, and potentially dangerous deep fat fryer which overheated after half an hour and cracked my work surface. They collected faulty item but now say there will be no investigation as they have "lost it". Brilliant way of dealing with customer complaints.

“Cheadle store really bad”

★☆☆☆☆

written by firebyrd on 25/04/2020

Ordered online and went to pick up at the Cheadle store. the member of staff was aggressive, unfriendly, and unhelpful and had everyone shouting their personal details from at least 12 feet. I don't use Argos much as most stores are bad but I had no choice this time but this is the worst Argos store I have ever been in

“How disappointing Argos has become”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Fussyfellow on 23/07/2019

I have just had possibly the most dismal shopping experience at Argos. I ordered from their website, which is not very intuitive at all. I got through the ordering process and, at the point of placing the order, it tells me that the item is not stocked at my local store. I am offered three possible alternative stores, all of which are relatively close to mile. One is actually shut, having closed a couple of weeks ago (why, oh why are they still suggesting I may wish to collect from there?). I select each of the other stores in turn to find the item is not stocked or supplied to them either. In addition I am not given the choice to order and be notified when it is in stock. At this point I would normally just go somewhere else, however, in this instance I am trying to redeem a gift card, that someone has paid for. So, Argos have had the money but cannot supply the goods, terrific. I am not trying to find something, anything, just to use up the value of the voucher. What a terribly disappointing shopping experience. I shall not be using Argos again.

“Worst place to ask for REFUND or REPLACEMENT”

★☆☆☆☆

written by jithoshjohn on 13/07/2019

My brother who came from UAE for his vacation bought an Airpod gen 2 from Argos, Taplow , Slough. Within few minutes of opening, the airpods, it had signs of being used earlier and hence was not brand new. I and my brother went back and explained the reason for returning. I was denied and Argos staff did not allow me get a refund or a replacement. The line manager was never at site and the next day when I went back the duty manager was very rude and plainly said that they will not give refund nor replace the item. As a customer, I have the right to return the item within 30 days and Argos at Taplow, Slough have dealt with this issue in a very poor manner. I still have airpods with me and currently filed a complaint in Argos. I had already called the support and talked over the phone and there was no one at helpdesk who could help me. Totally stuck and not sure what to do. I was denied refund twice . Aboslutely rude duty Manager and dont know the ABCD of talking to a customer. Really dissapointed.

Yes you do have rights contact your local trading standards. All items must be in good condition and fit for purpose.

“AWFUL PLACE FOR REFUNDS, AND TO WORK AT.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 26/06/2019

I bought a £10 analogue watch at Argos that was on a shelf of supposedly discounted items. It looked quite smart for the price. Within a year the watch started losing time, and eventually stopped. Tried to return it for exchange or refund as was owned less than a year, but was fobbed off with excuses and told it was probably the battery. Have heard this is typical Argos policy on refunds from other people. Compare with Wilko immediate exchange policy. Replaced the battery and watch still was losing time - just cheap rubbish. Wish I had bought a cheap digital Casio watch. I worked there one Christmas and it was a very bad place to work - 3 hour shifts so they did not have to give you a break - even permanent staff did not have a good word to say about Argos. USDAW union utterly spineless and useless, even though recognised union - maybe this says it all. Used to have fond memories of Argos from childhood - NO LONGER! I DON'T SHOP THERE ANY MORE AND I WOULD ADVISE YOU NOT TO!

If an item goes faulty the onus is on the place you bought it from as they are the ones you made the contract with.

“keep well away”

★☆☆☆☆

written by firebyrd on 13/09/2018

Bought a phone from Argos within six months it became faulty, after numerous calls to them they refuse to fix it although as with any item in the guarantee period. the contract is with the store or service you purchased it from and not a third party. they simply don't want to take responsibility and simply try to fob you off. My advice keeps well away as once problems start they don't want to know. the staff are arrogant, unhelpful and appalling.

“80 yr old dismissed”

★☆☆☆☆

written by kroome on 14/07/2018

absolutely appalling treatment of my 80 year old neighbor by Argos manager. Just driven her to Moor Allerton store as she had her car written off yesterday, as she had bought a very expensive coffee machine from Argos, turns out despite her best efforts it does not make coffee very well, and has a rubbish milk frother, store 'manager' refused to accept goods back even though not fit for purpose, despite being less than 14 days since purpose (cooling off period), despite having receipt , despite my understanding UK consumer rights and laws, trading standards also being informed. Also just made good business sense to look after your customers, that 2 of us at least never crossing your threshold again until she is treated properly. For and on behalf of a lady who is 80.

“Printer”

★☆☆☆☆

written by AnnieLeena on 27/02/2018

I bought a printer and thought it was going to be compatible with all computers! not mine, so I took it in to city center, which by the way wasn't the shop I've bought it from, but as I was going in there anyway I thought I bring it with me, and the manager in that shop was so rude. I'm never going back there again, so I took it up to the shop from where I bought it, and the manager there was very nice. He didn't have any problem refunding me, my money. If they want their customer to come back to their shop that is exactly what they should do. That's good customer service.

“Dreadful customer service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Queenan on 03/02/2018

Exercise broke after 8 weeks and an argos engineer said it could not be repaired and customer services would ring me to arrange a replacement. They left a voicemail asking me to ring them back to arrange the exchange which i did. However customer services asked why i was ringing them and insisted i should take the bike to a shop and get the manager to call an engineer to inspect the bike even though they already had this. After 3 calls and 2 hours arguing they said they had talked to the manager at my local store and arranged for him to exchange the bike. Of course when i got to the shop the manager knew nothing about this. Moral of the story never ever shop at Argos

“Never had a problem!”

★★★★★

written by DoramuKenji on 05/01/2018

I have Shopped in Argos in a number of different locations over the years and I've never had what you'd call a serious problem. The staff are always polite and helpful and have done all they could to help. My only negative comment would be sometimes it's hard to get through to an actual store, the phone will ring and ring and ring but it's nothing major. The many times I've used the Fastrack service my items have always arrived well packaged and on time delivered by polite ladies and gentlemen.
