The laptop that laptops direct sold me stated that it was "available" online, apparently available doesn't mean "in stock" but "we will check on the day the order is due for delivery that there's stock" And guess what! My order won't be in stock for 7weeks!! Oh brilliant.... So now I'm a small business owner with no laptop for 7weeks! But at least I'm still paying finance for the nonexistent laptop!!! This must be the third or fourth time that I have purchased something from Laptops Direct and as I expected they were well up to the mark in terms of pricing, delivery time and customer contact. I had a few chats with Gavin Wilson on the initial purchase of a Toshiba Laptop and in addition to eventually purchasing this item I also added 3 years worth of anti virus protection and a 3 year extended warranty. “Don't buy from them!”

DON'T Ever buy from Laptopsdirect! I ordered and paid for a new laptop but they sent me a refurbished one. They initially lied to me and said that it was a new one, but after I caught them out they finally admitted that it was refurbished. They would not offer any discount for sending me a refurbished laptop, and refused to accept it back, this was despite the fact that I had paid for a brand new laptop! I am also upset with this company's 'LAPTOPS DIRECT' attitude to a customer who bought a present for his child with Goodwill for a Christmas present;
He says. "The ‘fourteen days’ that I am being told is a ‘cooling off period’ by Laptops direct, should, to be fair and reasonable, commence on the day the gift/package was opened by my son. Which was Christmas day and only then, was he able to determine that the laptop wasn’t suitable for school homework and playing games.
In Laptops Direct’s template-reply to my request they have used for the repeated ‘automatic’ replies to me- they assert that the laptop was for a business. I am self-employed and not a business. The order was sent to a home address, not a business address. It was for my 12 year old son.
“...We do not take back unwanted items from a business.”
My son is NOT trying to run a business; the laptop was NOT bought for business use, but to use for his schoolwork and to enjoy playing games. He has asked and begged for a laptop for the past 3 years- so in November I finally saved up and- to make sure it would get to him in time for Christmas- I decided to buy him the laptop using my own account and posted it to him early enough so it would arrive by Christmas.
(I also purchased a 12-month warranty- which LAPTOPS DIRECT also tell me I cannot get a refund for even if I returned the laptop)
I believe that the 14 days should reasonably commence on the day the package was opened by my son, who only then was able to determine that it wasn't suitable for school homework and playing games.
I also was then told to write a letter, so I did and sent it special delivery. No response. The company's Good-will, and willingness to help would have encouraged me to use their store more, to use their services and purchase other products and recommend them to friends, But now I find myself angry and I feel I have been ‘deprived’ of my customers rights. Yes I have been explained their 'rules' but I feel I must broadcast and air this issue to warn their potential customers to not make the same ‘misjudgment’ I did -when buying -too far in advance- what they intend to be a Christmas and Birthday present, opened on that particular date.
Perhaps their company’s online platform agreements might also warn customers about this possibility- regarding Christmas gifts that are bought early and posted in advance –so being deprived of their fourteen day cooling off period?
I told them I would appreciate some positive and favorable action on this issue please but have not received any positive action and no reply to my letter.
I'm not at all happy with Laptop Direct’s automated style of response.
Not only has this company been unable to show any goodwill to a customer but they also seem unable to show any courtesy by responding to a written letter.
I was told to complain by letter, which is what I have done- and I am just still getting their same repeated, copied and pasted automatic reply, a reply which is still trying to assert that I made a business purchase for my sons Christmas Present, when in fact I have informed them differently.
I am now seeking advice and will be advising many friends to not buy goods from this company."

“Ruined Xmas and left me £1119.91 out of pocket”

Laptops Direct used City-Link to deliver my iMac. After two unexplained failed deliveries (one of which where CL lied and stated they'd called and left a card) they finally arrived and delivered a sealed box that turned out to be empty. The box was inadequately sealed which means it is quite possible the iMac was removed in transit. My wife didn't realise what the package was and that it was too light and so accepted it. “Avoid - Wouldn't even wish this company on my worst enemy”

Frankly, this company doesn't even deserve the one star rating. I ordered a HP laptop and was given an estimated deliver of 5 working days. I soon got my delivery date which came and went without any sign of the product. This happened a further three times and it took over a month for me to finally get my laptop. I orderded an Acer laptop and it arrived two days later - without me being notified of despatch, lucky I was at home! After setting it up, I noticed that sound wasn't working. As advised by Laptops Direct, i went thru Acer's fault finding process (which took best part of a day), then Acer accepted it was faulty, gave me a DOA (dead on arrival) number and arranged to replace it (which they would have done in 24 hours). I paid extra for next day delivery, recieved an email clearly stating it willbe delivered the next day. I was pleased so at me expense I reluctantly took the day. So many hidden terms and conditions. No collection if any fault in the system. And there is no chance to not get any fault because Laptop direct always deliver faulty product. Ordered a PC. Paid for next day delivery. Finance arranged on site. Mail on delivery day to say was a problem and would be delivered on Monday and was being prepared for shipping. Took Monday off. I ordered 4 screens from Laptops Direct and paid for Saturday special delivery. The screens didn't arrive and I wasted a whole Saturday waiting for them. So after sending my laptop in for trade and they try to skim me off by saying its worth £59 for an i3 intel processor 3gb ddr3 memory 250gb hd and 15.6 screen - hilarious. Is this serious comment or you do work for competition? I do install new operating system about once a year on every computer. Is this their fault that your knowledge is limited in this matter? Noone does free system installations...
