their phone lines are from 9-5 ( ridiculous) expect to wait at least 10 min on the phone to go through them. Forget about email I emailed the customer service 3 times and they never bother to answer. I would never ever renew my insurance with them

“dont waste your time”

Cheap insurance with poor service. Had to make a claim (non fault as well) and I had to do all the phoning around and chasing up. They never phoned once to let me know what was happening. Who knows what it would be like getting money out of them if it was a fault claim.

This is a very poor company.

I insured my GSXR four years ago and they were rubbish. I swore that I would never use them again.

Unfortunately I forgot about this and used them a comparison web site. Again they were as appalling as before. They may have a lower quote on comparison sites but it should be avoided.

Bought them online, there was one error in my application, which i'm sure was not due to me, so i called to amend the details, they said i was no longer eligible and cancelled my policy. THEY CHARGED ME 35£ TO CANCEL. What a scam...

Been dealing with them on phone sorting renewal policy. If you think it is not your fault ask them to get it to manager level and listen to the tapes. I've had problems with the renewal as I had let it lapse and in the panic to get cover 10 mins before they closed a mistake was made, i.e. I was never told the excess was more nor that it was a different company. After calling and the sugestion that the policy was mis-sold it was refferred to Management. I have been kept well informed as to what they are doing etc. and it seems to be sorted,.. I am just waiting for a confirmation call. I will keep you informed. Helpful hint,...stay calm,..chill out,..Hobgobblin Real Ale is a great listener.

We just had a policy cancelled by Motorcycle Direct. They say because my husband inputted the wrong address when purchasing on line. He did not. He could not have done as he purchased by phone and called twice asking what had happened to the documents. When told they had been senty to the wrong address he corrected them but was told this was because their system needs a numerical address and we do not have a house number just a name. We have tried for 3 days to speak to a manager. Each time we start the process again as they loose our details. Frankly appalling service!In the meantime my husband cannot use his bikes!

I purchased insurance from Motorcycle Direct in September 2010. In December 2010 I sold my motorcycle and therefore no longer needed the insurance. I had only had the insurance for 85 days. Having paid £184.02 I received a refund of £41.58. I asked for a breakdown of the charges which they sent to me. I am very disappointed that they are able to take most of your yearly premium for nothing. I shall not be insuring with them again and will more closely into any further bike insurance I take out.

Don't bother.
I've had two policies with this company: the first they totally screwed me over on. I paid the full year's premium upfront for the year, yet they said the policy was invalid as a form hadn't been signed which I'd never recieved; there wasn't even a claim being made, I just needed to prove insurance. They had nothing to lose or gain & I ended up with a totally unfair IN10.
The second time they caught me with the auto-renewal at a scandalous price scam a lot of insurance brokers try to pull these days & I can say for definite that with every policy I take out, I state I do not wish this to happen. I should have gone with my gut instinct & avoided them after the first policy, but they were cheap.
Whenever I spoke to customer services with any problems I was spoken down to & argued with. I will never deal with them again.

Was guided by a price comparison website and filled all questions honestly. £165 seemed like a good price but didn't realise they had confused my car NCB and Motrobike NCB when I eventually got through to cancel the policy I was told I would get a refund of £83!! after 18 days even though the bike has been in for a service for the last 5 days and I didn't pick up the bike until 4 days after the policy started - (10 days on the road!)

Got better deal from Bennett's with no nasty surprises and much better cover!

Was insured with this company for 9 yrs .Never made a claim .Cancelled my insurance as I sold my bike .About 6 phone calls later finally was told to write a letter to cancel and send back policy onl to be told there was no refund due to time elasped on policy .I'd paid up front as always and still had 5 mths left. Not happy !!

in a nutshell, you get what you pay for

this broker takes your money then doesnt do any work after that!

you have to chase 3 different companies at the same time to deal with your claim, bike fix, liability, insurance, damages, expenses its crazy!

DONT BUY MOTORCYCLE DIRECT

PAY A BIT MORE AND BE HAPPY

Motorcycle Direct Motorbike Insurance has never returned my phone calls, didn't advise on what happens when bike was put into garage for repair. Bike was stood for 6 weeks so we eventually paid for the repair ourselves, now we have to claim it back, was told by numerous amounts of people not to pay, then to pay, now we have paid & told axa they say who told you to pay.

It doesn't seem to matter how long you have been with them. Our motorbike insurance combined was 13 years! Not again! It seems the same insurance is over £100 more expensive with Motorcycle Direct than say Hastings Direct. Why?

Motorcycle Direct AXA Insurance PLC are very slow at sorting out claims to replace your bike, my accident was on 20/06/04 and I am still waiting to be paid out for the toal write off(15/09/04).

They do not communicate with Motorcycle Direct and that goes for vice versa, if you have an accident you cannot stop your insurance or they require full payment. I bought myself a new bike and asked to transfer the insurance the Excess doubled.

Motorcycle Direct: I bought a 50CC moped for myself and was looking round a lot of companies for insurance, the cheapest I found was bennetts at £212, then I got recommended by a friend that I try Motorcycle direct, they quoted my £162.82 Third Party Only! That is so cheap, I was really happy.

I've just spent 10 months taking Motorcycle Direct through the Financial Ombudsman Service. MCD had said I had cancelled my Direct Debit mandate. I had not and my bank confirmed it. The FOS said they had behaved within the law i.e. 7 days notice, as I was on a 6 weeks holiday responding to 7 days notice is never going to happen. Even after sending my Bank details again on the 9th day they still cancelled. Never got through on the phone and they never replied to my e-mails. Now after almost 12 months a debt collection agency is demanding the full premium. My policy ran for 1 month and I'd paid this cost upfront. I'm so incensed with this company I'm hoping Watchdog will take it on. In the meantime I'll need to wait for a court appearance. Any other ideas?
