“1 shot, 1 tear”

Livid with this piece of guff. Took one shot and the rubber tube had a tear on it. Total let down.

“Lasted one evening”

★★★☆☆

written by Tobesb on 29/08/2016

Son and Dad on a pebble beach as the sun sets. We were taking it in turns to shoot at a washed up tin can. The new that day slingshot failed after an hour or so. The rubber became holed where it attaches. A nice evening ended in disappointment. No longer the Black Widow I grew up with, shame. look for another make.

“pretty good really”

★★★★☆

written by qnBeck22 on 06/09/2015

i bought this cattie because i wanted a decent, cheap cattie that i can have good fun with.it really is a brilliant catapult fo beginners, but to be honest it doesn't really compare with the saunders and daisy catapults. it can reach about 205 fps with a .38 steel bb. the accuracy is not bad, but due to the relativeley low power, it would be greatly improved with better bands. would definiteley reccomend for begginers though.

I have always wanted a slingshot and I was so exited when I saw the black widow and decided to purchase it I have owned it for 2 days I have not even used the 10 shots that come with it and the wrist strap is broken and the bands are about to break wish I never bought it, what a load of garbage

I understand there has been a recall of the wrist bands. They had issues with them coming off while shooting. Check the Barnett website for a fix or replacement.

“Best slingshot ever”

★★★★★

written by Wannu121 on 06/04/2013

My barnett blackwidow lasted for a very long time I bought it with the yellow bands on and I used it for a year with no ripps I shot about 600 shot and it did not rip now I bought the red bands. I like the grip of the handle a lot but the only thing I did not like in this slingshot that it has very narrow forks unlike trumark which have very wide forks but overall i loved this slingshot.

“Good ... But ...”

★★★☆☆

written by MTJLT on 04/04/2013

Do not try the Black Widow with light, small ammo; shots go wild. Accuracy is fair to good with 12mm/.5" steel balls. Standard yellow bands are medium-hard pull, mainly because the pouch isn't sufficiently textured for a good grip. Try the fist-grip shown on YouTube for a much better pull. I would much prefer tapered bands such as Marksman provides, but with the larger pouch of the Barnett. I would also like to see a better style of band-to-pouch attachment, as the existing type allows the pouch to twist within the band loops. The wrist brace strap on my example was quite loose, so I added a wrap of duct tape to the rods and pushed the strap back on for keeps. All told, the Barnett Black Widow gives good value for a light-weight, wrist braced slingshot, but the Marksman with tapered, red bands shoots faster and more accurately with lighter, smaller balls.

“A great catapult!”

★★★★☆

written by Jeff.D.Steele on 29/07/2012

I've been taking a Black Widow with me when I going fishing for the past 30 years and it hasn't failed me yet. It may not be the most pricey catapult, but it is certainly amongst the best. Durable, good range, high level of accuracy - what more could you ask for?

“Absolutely Great!”

★★★★★

written by on 27/05/2012

Brilliant power, and with a little practice, accuracy. This is supposed to be a budget gadget, but I would say it surpasses it more expensive counterparts, the cobra and diablo. the quality is fantastic and although I've been using it for a month now, the bands are barely worn.It even comes with a foldable arm brace and ammunition. Overall 10/10!

Mate, the red bands are notorious for breaking. the natural 'Gum' coloured bands with a WHITE pouch last for years. I have a lot of experience with catties.

regarding the guy who thinks I am a brand hater or from the competition I think if he used the band himself or read the many, many complaint re Barnett and there poor bands he would change his mind .I doubt if he has ever owned or used a catapult and just took two minutes away from his full time hobby of dribbling and licking windows .Just try and say red backwards little man .

“Barnett Black Widdow ”

★★★★★

written by tommyboy97 on 17/08/2011

I was looking at some slingshots online and i was thinking about buying one as they seem to be fun and pretty cheap so before i ordered one online i thought i might go too the local fishing tackle shops , i went to about two and they hadent any in so i traveled further on and got too a fishing tackle shop in outwood called tackle 2 u . there was only one slingshot (the black widdow) so i bought it brought it home and at first it seemed quite weak but after around a week as i improved my accuracy the bands stretched and where alot more flexable and then i realised how powerfull it actually was for hunting purposes it could take a a small to large sized rabbit if you get a heart or head shot and this slingshot is extremely well built ive taken it too the woods with me around three times , ive walked in streams fallen into mud and dropped it from trees and its still as good as ever the arm brace really makes it alot easier as my friend has a cheaper slingshot with no arm brace and its much more uncomfortable and much harder to control , so i would reccomend buying this slingshot .....great fun :D

This catapult is a few year old, and still good as new. it is a good price and value for money, I have used this a lot for hunting rats, and kill rate is very good. It is very robust with good build quality, the rubber is of good quality. the plastic grip could be better, but for the price it can be forgiven. Looks good and feels strong, with the wrist strap for support, for pulling the rubber back for power.

written by Paul Delvino on 01/06/2010

A very well made and quality piece of kit for both pest control and target activities. Price was very fair when considering the parts involved and design/manufacture. I found the instructions clear and concise, I mean, how much instruction do you need for putting a band on a rod? I was so impressed with this product that I bought an extra one for practice (Rats) and different locations for target shooting. I highly recommend it to any pult enthusiast!

written by Tomwoc on 08/10/2009

An amazing slingshot. The best I've ever had or made. The bands are very powerful (but not impossible to stretch) It's got a perfect handle with yellow grips. With about a week practice you can hit a can from 10m away! Someone said it can reach 200 fps! 10/10 only £7.50 one of the greatest purchase I've ever made. :)

“I first owned a Barnett Black Widow catapult back in...”

★★★★★

written by on 01/09/2009

I first owned a Barnett Black Widow catapult back in the mid 80's and had lots of fun with it until i broke a window (accidentally) and my mum confiscated it :( but for the year or so i had it, it was in use every weekend and pretty much daily in the school holidays and was pretty robust (i was 15 and caring for my toys was not a priority).

A couple of weeks ago while searching for spares for my RC helicopter i found a site selling black widow's well i just had to buy one!

On first impressions it looks much better (from a design perspective) than my old one, the contoured handle feels much better in the hand and im not sure but i think the wrist brace is a bit longer.

The packaging says "magnum power bands" , hmmm well i guess the rubber tubing is more elastic or something, even so it is easy to pull and hold at full stretch.

For a comparison of power and accuracy i revisited the woods where my friends and i used to hunt soft drink cans and airgun targets (donated by someones older brother), using the same ammo (.38 steel BB's) i found i could hit a can with on average 1 out of 3 shots at 20 feet (not as good as i used to be but i havent had any practice in the last 20 years!) for ranging i headed over to an area of wasteland on the edge of the woods where there used to be a huge mound of granite stone chips and to my great surprise there was still a large amount of them to be found, well we used to shoot these 15-20mm ish stone chips at a 45 degree angle towards an old shack some 100 metres or so away and we never got anywhere near it , well i still didnt get anywhere near it but im pretty sure i got a hell of a lot closer than i managed 20 years ago.

Bottom line , if you ever had one as a teenager and if you have somewhere safe to shoot it buy one and take a stroll down memory lane, i dont think you will regret it :D
