“RED HOT CHILLI PEPPERS”

★★★★★

written by KARENHOLLIDAY on 27/06/2012

88TICKETS WHERE REALLY HELPFUL WHEN TICKETS DID NOT ARRIVE! CHILLI PEPPERS WHERE OUT OF THIS WORLD, WITH A GREAT SUPPORT OF THE WOMBATS! THE CHILLIS WHERE LIKE BEING IN YOUR OWN FRONT ROOM LISTENING TO THE ALBUM BUT WITH 80000 PEOPLE SHARING THE EXPIERENCE. FLEA WAS RATHER SHOT AWAY BUT VERY FUNNY. THE MUSIC WAS JUST AWESOME. THE WORST THING WAS NOT ENOUGH LOOS 26 MINUTES TO QUEUE FOR A LOO!!!! THE OTHER BAD THING WAS THE MUDDY FIELD AND THE CAR WAS SINKING AND THE RAIN WAS COMING DOWN!! WE THOUGHT THAT WE WHERE GOING TO GET STUCK.

written by poppyfeakins on 23/09/2007

I went to see the Rolling stones a few weeks before and they were amazing, 80 pounds and well worth the money!!! I think the RHCP have let their fame get to their heads and are not putting on a good enough show AT ALL. The RHCP have probably been my favourite band for a long time (I am only 16) but this performance really made me think, all of your fans have payed so much money to come and see you, many people alongside me came all the way up from London, and you can only pull this off and think it is good enough. I think it is awful, and I would NEVER EVER pay to see them again, or recommend them.

Amazing! I took my 12 year old son with me. He loves the Chili Peppers, but my wife was a bit worried about the language, but that was not an issue at all. Their current songs had great solos, and the band made a great atmosphere. I would recommend this show to anyone.

“Red Hot Chilli Peppers are amazing together right now....”

★★★★★

written by ldelphic on 23/10/2006

Red Hot Chilli Peppers are amazing together right now. Saw the October 2nd performance at the Garden, and had to see them again on the 20th, so dug deep and bought pretty incredible seats to a more devoted fan-based performance, where we all sang along. The wave was happening up balcony way, and it happened on one of the worst nights weather and grid lock wise in Beantown. We appreciated the band's apology also for arriving late. We all shared a wild ride. 4 hours just from R.I.

I totally agree on 2 major things that need improvement for future consideration by RHCP. #1- Mars Volta - What's up with that???
I love music, and I am open-minded but... October 2nd attended with a friend, and we decided to go and drink beer instead of trying to hear anything at all clean from this blearily reckless demonstration of rubbish.

October 20th performance - arrived late with my daughter and her boyfriend, hoping to have missed their appearance. Unfortunately, all ran late and Mars Volta sucked once more. Thankfully, for Heroes we sat through more of it...only because Boston shut the taps down at 9:00. Definitely, RHCP need to rethink the opening band. We all embrace RHCP. Please don't bring us down, and give us something to head trip on.

#2 - Oh Yeah, yeah. Lengthen the performance! Personally, I liked the song set they delivered and all - just why I took my daughter and the boyfriend to see a band at it's PRIME. But when you're paying $200 a ticket, 1 hour and 30 to 40 minutes is NOT ENOUGH, and after that a 4 hour drive and parking nightmare. It may not have been their fault, though Boston may have a curfew at the garden!? Maybe plan for our lovely New England weather better in future.

Having been a fan for years, I have got to say it was a delectably fine concert. Kiedis sounded studio worthy, and his voice was in fine shape. Guitars haven't sounded so together. They're all so blessed...
Keep it comin', but next time make it longer.

“The last time I saw the RHCP's was in 1988 when they...”

★★★☆☆

written by 29roses on 02/10/2006

The last time I saw the RHCP's was in 1988 when they were still known for their blistering punk/funk fusion. They've come a long ways since those days, but unfortunately I didn't get the feeling that they are comfortable being a "supergroup". And I say that because all the "big" bands would never roll into town and do a show that was less than 2 hours with a lot of dead air in between songs. The show should have been at LEAST 2 1/2 hrs, preferably 3 hours.

They didn't do any of their strongest tunes from Stadium Arcadium (other than radio popular tunes). That was disappointing, as I believe this to be the Red Hot Chilli Peppers' best album yet. No "21st Century" or "Death of a Martian" or "Turn It Again".

Flea "looked good", but could barely be heard due to poor sound and the blasting guitar.

The best thing about the concert was listening to Jimi Hendrix inspired solo's all night!

“September 1st, 2006. What a fantastic show!...”

★★★★★

written by LAJPS on 11/09/2006

September 1st, 2006. What a fantastic show! Apparently, they had played the same venue the night before. I had heard that previous night was amazing, but the following night blew the previous out of the water. All 4 guys came to play, and it seemed like each was trying to out do the other. Maybe it was because Jack Irons was there to watch...he was one of their first drummers. Flea was off the hook! He played his heart out and rocked the place. The coolest thing was that they jammed almost as much improv as they played their covers. They must have felt fairly relaxed...playing in their own home town and knowing that they would be going to their own beds to sleep in that night. They looked like they were having a blast!

All 4 guys are amazing musicians. Having been there to see one of the biggest bands on the planet right now, was enough to make you bounce for an entire month. I couldn't get enough. Anthony finished the night by saying; "I will never forget this night".

“Was crushed at the front of the pit for this summer...”

★★★★☆

written by dawg6633 on 23/08/2006

Was crushed at the front of the pit for this summer concert event, headlined by the Chili Peppers. They came, they played, they left. Band was tight but showed no stage presence or attempt to entertain. Flea and Anthony never even talked to each other; while Flea and the lead guitarist seemed much more at home in a encore-ending free jam. Flea is the best bass guitarist (cept sir Paul) that I have ever seen. These boys need to remember where their success came from; sneering at the crowd will not lead to larger record sells eventually. The concert was disappointing and left you wanting.

written by BoiJD on 16/08/2006

Although their talent is there in every song, and I enjoyed the majority of the concert, the opening band really took a lot of the enjoyment out of the experience. I think that Chili should think about this selection. I guess that my expectations were so high for them to justify the ticket price after the opening act, that it really was hard to come away being really excited.

I have seen he Red Hot Chilli Peppers at Hyde Park, so I knew they would be good. The gig ended way too soon though! Anthony seemed as if he didn't really want to be there, but he performed as fantastic as ever. I didn't manage to buy a programme - were there any?!

I heard rumours that this is their last tour! I sincerely hope not! We ladies like the eye candy!

written by concertgoer on 19/07/2006

Well......the support band. I have never seen such rubbish being called music! Did the Chili's really agree to this as their support??
As for the Chili's - they were there, but I would have thought maybe they didn't want to be. They got on stage, played their music (very well of course), but that was it. No interaction with the crowd at all (or with each orther) - I was left thinking 'is that it?', were they only interested in the price they could get for the tickets? Not interested in their fans at all? The only way this was slightly helped was by Chad saying a few words to the crowd at the end of the concert. I'm sure not everyone will agree with this review, but I was left wanting more, and disapointed.

I went and see the Chili Peppers for the first time and I was totally speechless when I left Earls Court, it was totally amazing. I was seated right at the back but even that did not matter once they were on stage I loved every minute. They played a mixture of old and new. They had the crowd screaming for the minute they started to the second they stopped. SIMPLY THE BEST!!!

I've been a follower of the Red Hot Chili Peppers for years now and couldn't wait until the concert. I got there extra early and got right to the front on the barrier. I was starting to think it was a bad idea to go so early because after James Brown's set I was aching and tired but when the Chili's came on the whole place errupted and I forgot all the pain and was dancing and singing through the whole set. I payed for it the next day though. They played a vast erray of songs but mostly newer releases which I did not mind as I've only been around since 89 but I was a bit let down by the lack of their vintage stuff, but I didn't mind because the rest of the concert rocked, NOTHING and I mean NOTHING will top that!

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Amazing set, exactly what I was hoping for as I've never seen them before. They played a great mix, though mostly their newer stuff. Also a few covers and 'Give It Away' as the encore - superb. Brilliant visuals and deafening sound, I'll be humming their songs for months!

The Red Hot Chili Peppers were absolutely amazing. Much better than I thought they would be - this is coming from someone who was only a couple of rows away from the stage, but still...the atmosphere was incredible - they played their music exceptionally well and everything was set up amazingly well. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would go again in the Golden Circle to see them if I could.

written by drwibble on 27/06/2004

I was really looking forward to this having not seen the Chilis live for far too long.

I shelled out for a "gold" ticket and was glad I did.

I was about 10 rows back from the stage and had a great view. The sound was excellent quality and the visuals were very impressive. I'm not a Chilis snob and I'm happy to admit I like their new stuff as much as the old stuff and "By the Way" is the soundtrack to some very happy memories, so I was delighted to hear so much of it.

It was good value for money - they played for about 1 3/4 hours.

written by Lindsey on 26/06/2004

If I wanted to watch an over the hill soul classic I would have gone to a James Brown concert not a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert. We are huge fans of the Peppers and were bitterly disapointed by the show they put on. When a concert is set to start at 5:30 you don't expect to still be waiting for the main act at 8:30. We had golden circle tickets so could hear, but were still disapointed by the average show the Peppers put on.

Of course you would have to wait that long for the main act. Have you never been to a live gig before???

I don't doubt that Red Hot Chili Peppers were amazing but, as I'm sure everyone else agrees, I couldn't hear them. There was no atmosphere. I bet Cardiff was excellent, the venue is far better. If I knew who to complain to I would ask for a refund. An apology from the band would be nice.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - I thought that Chicks on Speed were rubbish, James Brown was good, but possibly went too far with the robot!!
The Red Hot Chilli Peppers were fantastic, drinks service appalling, toilets, ok good value for money, I think, you got a lot of music for your money.

written by Bunnyman on 23/06/2004

What a HUGE disappointment. I've liked the Red Hot Chili Peppers for over 10 years and was looking forward to a gig designed for the fans. Well it seems this gig was designed purely for those (v. limited) few who were lucky enough to get Gold tickets. The other 60,000 of us had to suffer:

- A severely underpowered PA system
- A lack of drinks (who really wanted to queue 1 hour to pay £3 for pint of Carling????)
- Rubbish support (why no Pixies!?!?)

It seems to me that RHCP are a bunch of old men no different to the likes of Phil Collins, George Micheal and the other overpaid, couldn't-give-a-[expletive] rock stars who turn up and take the money.
