“Terrible and a pain in the a**”

I went into a new look store one day just to get some shoes for work and as I was in my work uniform I think the woman thought she would target me to get a store card, as you are supposed to be in work to have one so you can pay it off, at first I said no 2 times, but she wouldn't get the point that I didn't want one and kept running on about all these 'great' things about it so I said yes to shut her up. What a mistake that was! Having one of these makes temptations harder as you think 'oh I'll just put it on my card and pay it another day'. I was doing good with paying it off until a couple of letters come through my door real late which made my payment late which ment they put quite a few interests on and at 12£ something a time this soon adds up, now this isn't my fault to why my bill is so high and their expecting me to pay 41£ a month!!! (The girl in the shop said you only have to pay 3 pound something at a time and didn't tell me this could happen)! Anyway I phoned newlook but they were determind the letters wouldn't come through late and made me out to look like a liar and I've told them I can not afford to pay as much as they want me to yet and I will when I can afford to in a short time and she said It was fine but I'm still getting bombarded with 5 calls a day, so many texts and emails a day and they are really doing my head in!! I've had letters to say I I don't pay it they can take me to court when I rang the woman and said I'm having a bit of money problems she said 'ok, tell me your bank details and we'll take some today' urm no!! That really annoyed me because all they care about is getting their money ASAP and not the stress they're putting their customers through! Please save your self the hassle and don't get one

“Please avoid at all costs!!”

I got the card out because I had an interview before my payday and had no suitable clothes. I spent £50, set up my account online, paid the £50 and thought "this is great." I used the card once more in this time. About four weeks later I was getting bombarded with texts and emails that they needed to speak to me. I was intimidated by the texts and emails but phoned them to ascertain the problem. They insisted I hadn't paid and had incurred charges which made me hit my balance. I checked my bank account statement and true enough the money had not come out. Surely that indicated a fault in their system but I had no proof that I had attempted to pay. I couldn't afford to pay the total balance so have been paying off bit by bit. I have hardly used the card but am once again being bombarded. They put up my credit limit without my permission so I could incur more charges and will not let me log in to my account. To avoid being charged for phone calls, the only free way I can pay is by going in store. I know for a fact that the staff are under immense pressure to sell these cards to get bonuses for their managers. I feel like I have been tricked into debt and every time they call to harass me I am frightened to answer.

“brilliant for buy now pay later”

I've had the new look store card now for over 4 years and never had a problem with, i would go in store to purchase items use my store card then budget the cost at the end of each month to pay over the phone before 5th of each month. The ikano website is easy and quick to use although i keep forgetting my password :). Shopping online is also quick and easy when using my store card too. I was fully aware of what I was signing up for, the assistant was very helpful and answered my questions when asked. No catch, no problem. Couldn't be more simple to use.

“easy as pie!”

This is my first store card and ive had it for about 9months ive had no problems what so ever. The online payment account is so easy and you receive an email around 3 weeks prior to paytime. Yes there are charges if u have a late payment ect but that's pretty standard.. just keep on top of it! Once I accidentally left £3.50 and 2 days after it was due (I didnt realise I hadnt paid it) I received a phonecall telling me the outstanding balance and that I wouldnt be charged and I was able to pay it via phone. Reasonable £200 to spend and find it alot easier then buying clothes outright! Only negative is more vouchers would be a bonus. definitely recommend.

For the first time in 6 years I missed the payment deadline through ill health. I always settle my account in full at the end of each month, but as I said I kissed the payment date by 2 days and was charged £12.

“MISLEADING ”

Awful! I applied for New Look card a week ago and go a letter this morning explaining I was successful and to sign agreement send back and then I'll recover my card in ten days. I phoned to see what the credit limit would be and to chat to them about pros and cons (after reading shocking reviews!) and discovered that my application was still in referral and they'd only posted that letter in error! The guy said it was probably to help them hurry the application, so they had lied! I told him that was diabolical straight away and asked him to end application and erase my details. Needless to say that letter is now torn up in the bin!

“Absolutely Awful!”

I was fobbed into applying for one of these cards in a new look store by a clueless sales advisor who couldn't tell me anything about the pros and cons of the card. I then received the card with arrears on it as it took so long to arrive. Any month it wasn't paid, arrears of £12 were added. I had lots of trouble logging onto the online payment site, and was told my passcode was wrong, when in actual fact it was correct. Even when the payment was made, I was constantly hounded with phone calls from useless and unmannerly advisory staff and bombarded with letters when my balance was already paid. Just paid off my last balance and I will be cancelling this card ASAP. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

I've had a New Look store card since February 2013 and I can honestly say I've never had a problem with it. The online payment system is easy to use and probably use it once a month. I'm rather surprised about all the negative reviews it has accumulated!

“Worst online payment experience”

After not even fully realising what i was signing up for as the new look attendant in store did not explain and was just happy to be taking a bonus home as she signed up a new customer for a card, i decided to make my payment and cancel the card straight away. Typed in the URL that i was given to sign into my account and make a payment... 1. The url didn't work. 404 error from the word go. So i searched ikano and newlook and found the site myself. Signed up, logged in, went straight to payment. Typed in the amount and pressed next... 2. Nothing comes up, not able to make a payment, can't do jack. So, call the help line... 3. which is ridiculously expensive (but thanks to an 08 app on iphone it was a lot cheaper) Get through to them fairly quickly, tell them everything and how appalling their system was. They said it was a new system, which is fair enough....BUT... if you dont pay by a certain date, money gets added on. Payment takes 72 hours to reach new look from the time you pay (and thats even if you can make a payment at all). Money making schemes... Overall TERRIBLE service. Cancelled the card straight after making the payment. Wouldn't recomend to anyone. Infact I'm highly annoyed that they are allowed to provide such shoddy service for overpriced clothes.

“No statements or emails received and arrears fee letter”

I have a New Look Card and find the staff in the New Look shops very helpful and have found the card useful. This post is directed at Ikano who provide the credit for the cards. Yesterday I received a letter telling me I had been charged £12 for arrears for August. Unfortunately in July I appear to have signed up for on line statements where Ikano will send email with reminder that statement is available. I have had no emails and basically forgotten I had used the card in school hols for daughters clothes. I have several cards but do not like credit and pay off outstanding statement accounts immediately on receipt. I rang Ikano to apologise for not making payment but asked why I had received no statements or reminders by email. The member of staff was quite rude and insisted that emails have been sent, including one yesterday. Looked through emails and nothing received from them for last 3 months , but had received offer emails from New Look! I asked if the fee could be reversed if it could be proven that they have not sent email and she said that she would refer this but all that they would offer would be half the arrears fee refunded but all interest accrued would have to be paid. I pay off all card bills on receipt as I do not want to pay interest, I may as well pay for anything cash as I do not need the credit, however I find the card handy. I agreed to pay the balance I owed according to the August statement I can see now on line but refused to pay the fees or interest until someone calls me back with proof that the emailed reminders or statements have been sent to me, which is after all part of their deal (as with all credit cards I understand). My argument was how can pay a bill if you haven't been sent it and she told me basically it was my fault for not looking on line. As I said I may as well pay straight away for everything and anyone taking a card out to take advantage of offers at New Look please please think twice, because they will tell you its your fault for then not sending you reminders as you should look at your on-line account all the time. Does anyone have any advice for me as my husband is in financial services and I do not want to cause our credit rating any problems?

update from above. Same lady rang back today to apologise and say that emails have been bouncing back to them so they can see we did not receive reminder. They have wiped charges and we have reverted to paper statements. This must mean they cannot send emails to certain providers, or they didn't send them. We are sorted and the attitude of the staf member concerned changed dramatically between the 2 calls.

“Cancelled within the 14 days”

This card is more hassle than its worth. The new look staff dont seem to sell this card for what it is tricking you into thinking your getting a discount card rather than an actual credt card with all the hidden payments. I had a lot of ttrouble signing on to the online banking system saying something was wrong with one or more of my pass codes each time, however due to me writing the pass codes down i knew they were infact corrrect. I had to phone up the customer service number costing 10p per minute to fix the problem. I did eventually managed to log on and complete a successful transition of the money I owed but by the next time I wanted to log on there was something wrong with my pass codes again. By 14 days I cancelled the card and paid the money I owed. I did not get any confirmation of this cancellation and still am receiving emails about statements and registering my account. I would not recommend this card.

“Never ever sign up for this stupid card”

Its rubbish im lucky I cancelled it in time you have 14days to withdraw from it or your screwed im so glad I did stress free my friend had it and got in to so much rubbish because statements were not coming on time they were accusing you of not paying. New Look staff dont have a clue on how to explain the card as they don't explain what the card is all about first I signed up for it and then got told that I cant pay for my item until my card comes thru and by that time they would charge me interest on it after careful research I rang up IKANO and cancelled it asap paying them the money I owed for my item and destroyed my card when it came DO NOT SIGN UP FOR IT!!

“A handy card ”

I have had my new look store card for 18 months now. I recieve my statements usually around 2-3 weeks before the bill if due via post. I also use the online service to check payments as I frequently make payments before due. I do not use it every month just when social calendar is busy eg Christmas birthdays summer. Two or three times a year they send vouchers for money off when you spend a certain amount thee vouchers usually apply online for 1-2dates and in store over a period of a week. I have never mussed a payment date so never incurred any charges how ever when I took the card out I was warned of the charges if not paid! You can choose your own colour card too. Overall I would ignore the negative reviews and try one if you want I know that if I had any issues I would end it and take business elsewhere

“terrible customer service, AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!”

I never write reviews but I felt compelled. They chase you for payments before you even get your bill through, many times I was up to date with my account, I was paying them on time, even before the due date I was getting rude snotty phone calls from this woman demanding payment. Her customer servive skills are appauling. I'm now in debt with them as I got made redundant, I asked for a payment plan but they won't give me one. So now I get about 6 phone calls a day demanding that I pay everything in full. Stay well clear!!

Don't get one the charges are terrible, the attitude of the customer service is disgusting and n one listens. A day late and £12 charge then a bundle of abuse on the phone, next bill was paid and i still got a charge. Still waiting on statements its like they make the statements be late for the extra charges. DON'T GET ONE

“Disgusting company”

Always getting £12 charge letters because I'm never receiving statements as they don't send them! Then finally recieve a statement telling me I owe £30 with a minimum payment of £30 by 5th July, constantly getting a call so ring back and they tell me I have to pay the £30 on the spot in June even tho it clearly stated on the statement by 5th July. I refused and the women wants me to give an exact date I'm going to pay when I don't know that myself. I tell them it will be before the 5th like the statement says and she then tells me no it has to be before the 2nd despite what it says on the statement. Can't wait to pay off this card and cut it up. There constant lack of statements and £12 charges because of it have trashed my credit rating. Had the card just over 1 year and I've only recieved 3 statemnets! They say it's e post office fault - I say they are dishonest traders! I've only put around £100 on my card the entire time but have paid back twice that! Don't get one they are not worth it one of my £12 charges was for £1.52 that was owed to them, I didn't know I owed them it as - you guessed it I never got a statement but it ended up costing me £14!

“Fantastic!”

Due to reckless teenage spending I had previously had a poor credit rating so was over the moon when I was accepted for a store card - and it has done WONDERS for my credit rating!! New Look has always been my favorite shop and the card allows you to try before you buy! I use it all the time and pay the balance off in full when i receive my statement. It's saved me a few times when stuck for presents at Christmas time!! Returns are simple and, like payments, take 3 days to process which in the grand scheme of things isn't a long time at all! I have had to contact customer services on numerous occasions due to returns, or missed deliveries - my own fault - and they have been nothing but very polite and helpful! It's the same as any other credit service, if you're sensible then you shouldn't encounter any issues!

Ikano / New look are not sending statements therefore there is no way to know the balance owed and/or the date it is due!! I was waiting for my first statement to make payment or at least an email telling me when was it due but no communication whatsoever hence i have now incurred a charge of £12 - and yes i did received the letter telling me of the charge.. very disshonest trading!!! not happy and will be making a formal complaint

I'm panicking so much. I was tricked today into getting a store card, the cashier literally pressured me into getting one. If I don't use the card at all and just forget about it, will I have to pay for anything for the card?

I was in a similar situation, I also got pressured into getting the card. They made me think it was a rewards card not a credit card.When you first open the card it is likely that they will have put the item you took to the till onto your card so make sure you pay this off, you can do this online with ikano or in store. Once that is cleared you will not have to pay anything else for the card. However I phoned up ikano who run the card and got it canceled just to be on the safe side.
