“Appalling service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 17/02/2016

Further to my comments last week, re the defective soft closing toilet seat, that has lasted 11 months. We have again contacted little woods, and even though the manufacturer has confirmed that there is indeed a twelve month warranty on the product , little woods response is. PURCHASE A NEW UNIT. And return the original item for inspection . Do that would mean that we would have paid £88 to date, with no guarantee that we would get the credit for the original item. How companies such as this are allowed to get away with sloppy trading standards beggers belief.

“Ongoing Issue!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by StellaVasiliou on 27/01/2016

I spoke to one of their customer service advisors on Wednesday 20th January 2016, regarding my rewards. For a long time now, I have not been receiving rewards. I make my payments every month but have not been receiving rewards. This happened to me some time last year and I received a refund as I was told this was due to a mistake with the systems. Last week I checked my account and have noticed I am still not receiving my rewards. I spoke to someone on Wednesday and she told me this was due to the fact that my payments each month have been going towards BNPL items which is not what I choose to pay each month. She told me this was a mistake on Littlewoods behalf, that they have set it so that my payments go to the BNPL items and this is why I have not been receiving my rewards. She then told me she will contact the relevant department and have my rewards refunded to me and set me on the right payment plan. She advised me it will take 24/36 hours. I called again on Friday 22nd January 2016 as I still saw no change to my account. The advisor I spoke to informed me that the query was escalated and can take up to 48 hours but I should receive a refund. I spoke to someone today as I still could not see a change. I was transferred to the department who deal with payments and have now been told that I will not receive my refund and that the two advisors I spoke to previously have provided me with the incorrect information. I am extremely annoyed and want this resolved. I received a refund before for this mistake so I do not understand why I shouldn't receive a refund again when clearly it is owed to me! Customer service advisors should NOT be giving me this assurance if they are not sure themselves. I have been a Littlewoods customer for many years and have never had an issue until the last year or so. I am so unhappy with the service I am receiving right now and would like this resolved or I will be forced to escalate it to the ombudsman. The advisor I spoke to today told me I can complain to queries@littlewoods as I asked for her to put a complaint through for me and she told me it needed to be done in writing. I sent an email and received one back informing me that this email is no longer available for customer service queries and that I should call customer services! Are they for real??? This needs to be resolved as I will continue to leave bad reviews and never recommend Littlewoods to anyone ever again until my issue is resolved!

“Upsetting Disaster. ”

written by Miracle462 on 10/12/2015

I ordered a dinner service as a gift. The money was taken from my bank account- twice. I contacted them by email about this but the second payment wasn't refunded. However, they sent me a form asking for the following details. (This is an excerpt from their correspondence)- '2 of the following documents A utility bill A bank statement A credit card statement A document from the Revenue Commissioners A house or motor insurance certificate A TV licence renewal form ( To buy plates? Huh?) And 1 of the following A copy of photo ID Current valid Passport Current valid Driving Licence Current valid National Identity Card ' Needless to say I refused and queried why they wanted this information to buy a dinner service, I already paid for -twice. The double payment was now gone from my bank for three days. Next a confirmation that they were closing my account. I asked would they refund my two payments. No reply. My sister in law ( the gift recipient ) rings me, wondering why Littlewoods rang her, looking for personal details about me. She didn't know the information anyway but was extremely upset. I contacted customer service and left emails. Result. - no dinner service. -payment taken twice from my bank account. -disturbing email and call to me and my sister in law looking for extremely personal information, that left us both extremely u

“I ordered a Dyson Dog Grooming Kit from Littlewoods...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 10/10/2015

I ordered a Dyson Dog Grooming Kit from Littlewoods online however it never arrived. I contacted littlewoods to inform them of this and asked them to remove the charge. I was told by Littlewoods that they would put on hold the charge for this Dyson Dog Grooming Kit. However I found that they did not, and as a slap in the face Littlewoods updated my credit profile to say the payment was late. I called Littlewoods 4 times. Each time I asked for a Supervisor but they wouldnt put me through to one, instead they chose to put the phone down. I have since found out that the call centre is based in South Africa and the management of Littlewoods does not allow for calls to be put through to Supervisors. I have sent emails to twitter and [email protected] and both have not been helpful. The reply from Twitter says that the agent should never have said that the transaction would be put on hold, and that I would have to pay for the product until the issue is resolved. However I have it in writing that a Littlewoods Live Chat Agent promised to put the transaction on hold. I have yet to receive a response to the complaint sent to DirectorsOffice

“Disgraceful Customer Service!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by MBegg on 06/10/2015

Over two months ago I asked Littlewoods for the PPI number associated with my account under the advice of the financial ombudsman. Having been a loyal customer for almost two decades I did not anticipate there would be any problems. Since my initial request, they have not met timescales that they themselves have set; have sent me computer generated email replies; actively withheld personal data associated with my account and failed to acknowledge my subsequent queries but instead direct me to further points of contact that I have followed faithfully, hoping to have my issue resolved. All the while I am still waiting for a definitive response. I have wasted hours and hours of my valuable time doing everything they have asked of me and tonight, I have just found out that they have blocked me from making any further contact through their Facebook Page. The reason? My unresolved questions that they have asked me to share with them are “persistent spamming”. I am dumbfounded that they think it is acceptable to treat such longstanding customers in this way. I have exhausted every avenue they have asked of me and rather than reaching any kind of resolution in a more than reasonable timeframe, they have treated me utterly disgracefully. Words cannot describe how powerless this company has made me feel. I will never use them again and I would urge anyone to think twice.

written by dbinq on 01/08/2015

Ordered a Hoover washing machine, and everyday was getting calls that when answered nobody therw, So Google searched number and is Littlewoods, (apparently trying to sell aftermarket insurance) They ring 2/3 times a day, I'm yet to get to speak to anyone as just goes silent, is very annoying and completly puts me of buying items from them. I had option to purchase additional insurance when i purchased, i don't need harassing after i ordered an item.

“The most horrendous "company" ever.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 5mNDPtkS on 20/02/2015

After opening an account with Littlewoods and ordering a few items I was well impressed. Ordering was easy and delivery was hasty. I was telling everyone how good Littlewoods was. I received my first statement and paid the requested amount off in full using my debit card on the day the statement was issued. I thought it was a good idea to set up a direct debit just incase I ever forgot to pay manually. I recieved a email saying my January statement was ready, I paid a little over the amount requested on the day. 23 days later and I receive an email saying Ive defaulted and I've been charged £15 for non payment. I checked my bank to find a returned Direct Debit from littlewoods for the statement account. I keep a little surplus money in my bills bank account every month but not enough to cover a double payment. I rang littlewoods and asked for it to be sorted immediately, I paid more than was requested and then littlewoods proceed to take another payment 23 days later. This is apparently how it works. What company issues an invoice, takes payment and then tries to take payment again. How can I be chareged a non payment fee when I paid the amount requested. I am now extremely worried about my mortgage application due to this default. I bank with my mortgage provider. I have sent 4 emails to littlewoods and have not heard a peep. Only a phonecall every other bloody day asking if I want to spread my payments over a longer term, to which customer services put the phone down after I tell them im it will cost me in interest. I am absolutely outraged at this absolute circus, stay well away from this company. I cannot put into words how much LITTLEWOODS has annoyed me. I am currently pursuing this case through the Direct Debit Guarantee and the Finacial Obudsman along with Royal Mail Recorded letters. Just search littlewoods and see for youself their Facebook account is full of angry customers and their 1.4 Rating on Reviewcentre.com says it all. CIRCUS!

Genncrozier's Response to 5mNDPtkS's Review

Written on: 01/03/2015

They have caused me a LOT of mortgage application issues. Never defaulted a payment, they 'accidently' applied someone else's payment agreement and 2 months in arrears to my file, meaning its on my credit report. They refuse to change it because 'past 3 months and they can only change things for up to 3 months' ....liars! Sent them emails, letters. ....as soon as i sent one recorded delivery they replied because they then couldn't say they hadn't received it! They admit their mistake but have no desire to change it.... cost me a mortgage!

“Worst customer service ever!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by GaryCantrell on 08/02/2015

I have spent over 13 months trying to get a credit for some curtains I ordered which the delivery driver 'lost'. Even worse is that they were on buy now pay later so I have now been charged that interest which is almost as much as the curtains! I have rung over 30 times sent countless emails and made an official complaint, but I haven't got anywhere. Nobody knows how to help and most importantly most of them don't even understand me. They have a lot of people that don't speak great English which doesn't help either! A manager is never available to take my call and never rings me back either. Absolutely disgusting. AVOID LITTLEWOODS AT ALL COSTS. SPEND YOUR MONEY WITH ANOTHER COMPANY

“CONVENIENT, COMPARABLE. CHOICE”

★★★★☆

written by Carol311 on 09/09/2014

I have shopped for many years with Littlewoods. Firstly with the catalogues and later, joint catologue and on line. I must admit it has been a lifesaver for us. When we have needed those bigger items and not had the cash ie computer, fridge freezer, iron and press, clothes preparation for new job, hoover and cooker. All these items have been delivered to the door. I have lots of choice to return items. I can return items at certain local stores. To find these I put my post code in on the website and it tells me. Postage is free I am provided with stickers etc I believe you can phone up and arrange collection, I have not done that . I prefer to take my returns to the local Post Office. I love waiting for the Sales they have great ones. I am on Gold Awards so that means I get 10 percent back. I also shop through a cash back site it occasionally gives a couple of percent but it all ads up. £8 weeks is interest free. I think that is really fair. Busy now pay later can be good if you remember to save the money for the item. You get a year or 18 months before you have to pay anything for it but on a certain date the interest goes on for the whole time so the cost really rises often doubling. I save a bit each month. I do not get more that I can afford and I pay back may buy now pay later items before the interest starts. It works for me but if you are trying this be careful do not over extent yourself. I like the quality of their stuff. In clothing they do lot of their own stuff which is great. I really do not know what I would do without Littlewoods

“Disgusting, Dishonest Company”

★☆☆☆☆

written by EsmeraldaBarker349 on 07/09/2014

Bought some laminate flooring which was badly damaged in very decrepit boxes. Have tried to return several times although the collection agents turned up unannounced when I was at work. I have quoted the distance selling regulations and the Sale of Goods Act, to no avail. Littlewoods are still demanding payment for goods that were so badly damaged I disposed of them. Their Customer Service Department are arrogant, rude and extremely unhelpful with a low opinion of the law. This is the worst company I have ever had the misfortune to have dealings with. I'm disappointed that I have to give them a rating of 1 as this is too high.

“The worst company ever, exploitative,DONT EVER BUY...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by BethNF on 18/08/2014

I bought an item worth peanuts, just £30 which I could've paid straight away but I decided to build my credit by paying weekly. This was my first time shopping with them so during checking out and choosing weekly payments I gave my card details with the knowledge that payments will be taken weekly from my card. I then moved house after the purchase. 10 weeks after the purchase, I received a call from Littlewoods that I have not been making payments, I was a little shocked since I thought payments were being taken from my card. They had added 3 late fees charges plus other charges, they were terrible but I paid the outstanding amount straight away and asked them why they didn't contact me earlier but waited till after 10 weeks when they had exploited me and added a lot of charges that they were calling me. They apologised to me and I lodged a complaint but to no avail, only an apology. Despite being a first time buyer and paying the outstanding amount £77 in full when it was brought to my attention, they went ahead and spoilt my credit. I checked my credit report only to find that this HORRIBLE COMPANY have left a mark of this on my credit report despite my paying the whole amount when they called me and them knowing fully that I had moved house a week after the purchase. DONT BUY FROM THEM unless u want a dent on your credit file or report.... They are a VERY VERY HORRIBLE and TERRIBLE company. I have since left left a notice of correction on my credit file cos of this horrible first time experience I've had with them.

“Terrible Aftersales”

★☆☆☆☆

written by mad_fluffy on 06/08/2014

Littlewoods are great until something goes wrong and you have to return something. In my case Littlewoods organized a courier to pick up an item for return which they lost in transit. After countless emails before the pick up and after, each with a reference number which they attach. They still could not locate my first email explaining the problem and could not locate the email which they sent arranging the pick up. So the disappearance of my items was my fault. Im a good customer paying regularly and paying over the top prices for items which are quarter the price in other shops. There dedicated (there words ) customer service team need to be trained in handling problems and not sending copy and paste replies which is so irritating and does little to solve the problem.

“Quite literally, "rip off merchants"”

★☆☆☆☆

written by MagdalenaWaugh1963 on 24/06/2014

Having not had credit for a while, i decided to open a Littlewoods account and build my credit limit. What i found was a major difference in prices. I was going to buy a steam generator iron for £149, allegedly reduced by over £100 from £250. When i checked elsewhere, it was easily obtainable from the COOP for £69. This was not the only item i found vastly over priced. The RRP on this item was £129. When i complained by email to Littlewoods, all i received back was a "copy and paste" response and the same from the complaints department. When i rang Littlewoods, i got a "don't care attitude". Needless to say i have now closed my account. They are an unprofessional organisation and will charge you what they can get away with.

I was given a £600 credit limit by Littlewoods and when I placed a order for two pairs of trainers totalling £169. I was told the order was being processed but when I placed an order for £21 it went straight through. What is the point of having the credit if they won't let me make high price purchases?
