“Zen have got to be the best isp around. ”

Written on: 20/05/2006 by aqeelaneeq (1 review written)

Zen have got to be the best isp around.
After having trouble with previous isp (Talk Talk) I switched to Zen because they were they only ones who had a good review and offered a fast connection without port blocking (the so called fair usage policy). I have not been let down they do exactly what they say. I have an 8 meg connection with 20 gig per month allowance. Although the speed fluctuates around the 5 meg mark (due to BT apparantly) I have not noticed any port blocking which ALL big name… Read Full Review

Written on: 26/04/2006 by csprucefield (4 reviews written)

Been a customer of many ISP's around Europe, and I have to take my hat off for Zen Internet, as being THE provider, that has met my (sometimes quite extreme) requirements, without any fuss.

It's not the cheapest one around, but if reliability, as in the broadand being there 24/7 is important to you, that you get help if something happens, well, then this is for you!

I have used it for work as well as private surfing, and it does the job, with excellent performance all the time.
They simply… Read Full Review

Written on: 18/09/2005 by masci (1 review written)

I've been with Zen Internet since January 2002. Prior to joining Zen, I was with Freeserve (now Wanadoo) for 12 months.
I would never ever consider leaving Zen. I've always been a top Home Customer for them, always buying the top package for Home users.
They never let me down, and they don't offer things they can't support.
I've been running low-traffic production websites and mail servers, to say nothing about the testing of video streaming servers, 24/7 for years on that connection without a… Read Full Review

“I've been a Zen customer for 4 years, and can highly...”

Written on: 12/08/2005 by blok_york (4 reviews written)

I've been a Zen customer for 4 years, and can highly recommend their service. Granted, they are not the cheapest, nor do they offer 10, 20 or 50Mb lines (yet) - the fastest is currently 2Mb. But they do not cap your downloads, or limit your bandwidth. They do not force you to sign up for a year before ordering. They do not censor or restrict access, and they have the best customer support in the business.
With Zen, you get what you pay for, and I'm prepared to pay a little more for a higher… Read Full Review

I agree with your comments. Zen is indeed a great ISP. However, the following points you make are now out of date!

>The fastest [speed] is currently 2Mb<
Not so, I migrated from Pipex (they have well lost the plot...a pity, but true) to Zen's 8Mb service [8000 Active] about 4 months ago, and I am happy with the service and speed so far.

>But they do not cap your downloads<
Yes they do. The light user service has a 2Mb cap, and the normal/heavy user service has a 20Mb cap. However, I download quite a bit, including films, and I haven't reached the cap as yet!!
If you think that you will exceed the cap, then you can buy extra Mb's at a reasonable rate.

Written on: 31/03/2005 by 2 Jags (34 reviews written)

I'm a big believer in word of mouth advertising, a friend of mine is a bit of a techie and he had nothing but a high regard for Zen - that was enough for me to take the plunge with this company. I have been given the run-around by service providers before - plenty of cowboys out there who promise you the world for a bargain price. I was in no mood to get stung again so I was relieved to know that Zen is a decent sized company who operate out of an office rather than someone's basement… Read Full Review

Written on: 04/08/2004 by tlionhart (1 review written)

I signed up to www.zen.co.uk, mainly because of the reason they excepted Solo, and there Terms&conditions didn't have restriction to sign up of the users age. Whereas with BT or AOL, you must be 18yrs old I was 17 at the time I signed upto Zen.
It all began when I was recomended by a friend, I had never heard of Zen and was a bit nervous signing upto a ISP I have never heard off.
After I signed up I was notified all the way with the order of the service and its progression. I in fact, got… Read Full Review

The comment: "When signing up, you can't choose a personal email, for example [email protected], you need to buy this additionaly" is incorrect. You can choose any e-mail address you want (as long as it's not being used by somebody else) such as: [email protected] - and three or four more like that if you need them - all free.

yes, just email them. I have setup two other alias names. usually good idea to use initials as well. e.g [email protected] and [email protected]
I emailed them my alias names, and it was done in the same day.

Not much bother. You just have to tell www.zen.co.uk what addresses you want. An e-mail is all it takes. But you do have to let them know. How will they find out otherwise?

That probably is about right, but it's not good that the customer should have to go to any bother.
Mind you, thank you for that, I will call them today at some point!!

Zen give you one e-mail address that's generated automatically when you sign up so that you'll have one immediately. To get a different address (something more personal like [email protected], or more suitable for your business like [email protected]) you simply have to contact Zen Customer Services and ask). There is NO charge. You can have a total of five forms of address like this - all free. If you are still in any doubt, check by sending a query here: [email protected]

Written on: 23/04/2004 by ravix (1 review written)

ZEN Internet provide great value for money on regular web browsing, e-mail etc and fast. However, online gaming access can often be a little hit and miss with respect to "Connections Lost". Usenet server falls short of many other ISP's with respect to availability of groups and reliability. Technical support is open during office hours only.
The word to sum it all up is "AVERAGE."… Read Full Review

I totally disagree, no other comments required. Zen are without a doubt the best internet provider in the UK. Only a fool would not see that based on the bigger picture, oh sorry, forgot, you only saw your tiny pixel and decided it represented the whole company.... Fool

Zen's customer service has simply been terrible.

I have been charged for four months Internet usage, of which I was unable to access due to technical problems incurred by themselves.

To compensate, they have offered two weeks free usage as a gesture. It's disgraceful.

Written on: 17/03/2004 by cappagardi (5 reviews written)

Zen's ADSL service has been great from the day it was ordered. The notification and activation period was very short, in fact shorter, than they said it would be and I was notified all the way. In the last year I have never had a single problem with the connection and the speed has always been turbo.

They are more expensive than nearly all other ISPs, but you get what you pay for, and for the lack of hassle, a few extra pounds don't make one bit of difference… Read Full Review

Written on: 24/11/2003 by Alan3 (1 review written)

Ordering the different parts of the wireless package is a nightmare. You have to re-enter all your details (all of them!) for every single piece of equipment - and they deliver them one by one! I called to ask if I could order them in one package and they said no - and did not see what the problem was. I am surprised that Zen has such high service ratings… Read Full Review

Written on: 22/04/2003 by cambsman. (1 review written)

My local exchange was due to be upgraded to ADSL on the 16th April. I applied with Zen as I had heard that they were good, for my ADSL service. I took the basic package, with free activation and £28 per month after that, and decided to buy my own hardware.

They kindly informed me that as the exchange was not upgraded yet, they would instruct BT to activate my line as soon as the exchange was done, and that BT then take five to seven working days to activate a line - my activation date was then… Read Full Review
